I couls agree to adding some special flavor to pvp legendary armor, but only for people who actually make real accomplishments in pvp, not just adding.

Maybe anet can add an item for the top 5 in leaderboard and for monthly winning teams. You use the item to modify the appearance of your pvp legendary armor. Maybe a special aura or something. I think that’s some real prestige.

Honestly i find that sometimes a duo queue on my team can be a liability. Maybe they will carry or maybe they will feed.

Sometimes i find a duo queue is composed of one player who is much higher skill rating than the other essentially giving your team a half a member instead.

Just won a match where we got carried by a ventari rev. Of course, it didn’t help that our ele was a staff fresh air ele and our warrior was running riffle.

They probably need to add as a description in game that decay doesn’t change the kind of players you are matched with and just affects leaderboard position so people stop making these threads.

Was fighting against a ventari rev last night. he tried to keep our home and tie up as many of us as possible. fortunately our thf, war and dh were aware of what vent rev does and called for us to rotate around it. our necro was slow to catch on and kept trying to 1v1 it. after a few seconds of yelling at him, he relented and followed our lead.

when the rev went to our home, we would ignore him and take far. when he responded by going mid, our thf would decap home or full cap it and we’d take the team battle to far or stay at mid, if rev left to home, we’d outnumber mid and win.

was very satisfying how we shut that cheese down.

if anet is actually making is so one specialisation is for pve, and the other is for pvp. and are doing this by nerfing the ‘pve specs’ so much that they are not viable in PvP…..

then oh my gosh. if they are consciously doing that. I don’t know what to say. well, apart from that it’s the dumbest decision on earth.
why not have both specialisations viable in PvP and you know, have build diversity? like what is bad about that. why introduce more elite specs then make it so half of the specs only work in one gamemode. it’s such a dumb idea.

like, why not go the engineer route for all classes. both Holo and Scrapper are gonna be viable, and two really different choices.
why you wouldn’t want this for all classes is 100% beyond me. 1 spec for PvP and one for PvE, god what a dumb decision, I honestly hope that’s not the goal here.


like, as far as beserker goes. removing the primal burst CD nerf, and making it so going into beserk mode counts as a t3 burst would bring it back. it would be good again. it’s not super hard to creatively un-kitten it’s sustain, which is what was nerfed mostly.

Engineer? Are we talking about the same class here? Engineers in pve go core for raiding. Scrapper is only meta in pvp.

Furthermore, maybe you’re right. Making one elite specialize in pvp and another pve is not build diversity in pvp or pve. It is build diversity on the game in general if two elite specs don’t compete for the same spot in the same game mode though. And if it’s between that and having elites being better than the previous ones rather than offering new ways to play a class, than i prefer the former.

I think the problem with the kind of people who post on this forum is a problem of expectations. You expected anet to balance elite specs a certain way and get outraged when they don’t meet your expectations. But you never seem to question whether your expectations are realistic or ultimately desireable in the long term. I think we should all practice more self criticism and study whether our desires and expectations are really practical and whether they match the designer’s vision for what an elite spec should be.

Instead though, on this forum in particular, we seem to act like we’re ordering at McDonald’s.

The impression I’m getting from how anet has been balancing warrior lately is that:

1. they intend berseker to be a condi elite and Spellbreaker a phys dps elite.

2. they intend berserker to be the elite you use in pve and Spellbreaker the one you use in pvp and wvw.

So with that in mind, i don’t really feel the nerfs that were specific to berseker were such a bad thing since core wariror can replace it thanks to might makes right. And i do find it funny how the complaints went from “elite specs are purposely being made op by anet when compared to core!” to “anet is making the elites worse than core and therefore no longer elite!”

I get that it’s probably not the same crowed of people complaining and the people who wanted core to compete with the elite in pvp are now happy, but i can’t help but laugh at the 180. In fact, now the complaint about spellbreaker seems to be that it sucks because it’s not impressive at pve as condi berserker dps which is tied to how condi is governing raiding meta (which mind you, some people are mad about) yet while some complain about a condi meta in pvp, another side is mad that the condi war elite isn’t as good as the power core spec.

It’s all just so funny.

So since the meta right now is to complain about ventari, I’m gonna take this opportunity to make suggestions on how to make it a better healer.

Ventari rev: in general i think the problem this spec has with beingg a healer is that it has no sustained healing. Only healing in burst which is no good in pvp. But ventari rev has a much bigger issue that the entire rev profession suffers from: no way to regain energy and no way to create real synergy between the stances.

1. i think that in order to give ventari better sustained healing, it needs two things. one is to make the staff auto heal up to 3 allies near the rev. no more orb drops. just make it so every staff hit heals up to 3 allies for 600-800 with 1k healing power. Next make it so ventari’s will leaves behind a light field where it crosses that pulses the healing (base is 800 according to wiki) rather than when the tablet passes over someone. this avoids the overly complicated mechanic of having to spam the heal skill over and over to obtain any semblance of sustain which is too clunky. have the tablet leave a field where it passes that pulses healing. i am not set on the duration of the healing field and i leave that to the devs. i believe that being able to put down healing fields of 800hp/s plus an auto attack that heals nearby allies for 600-800 will fix the sustain healing issue.

2. revs need mechanics that allow energy gain rather than solely relying on changing legends or auto attacking. my suggestion is to make it so every minor in every trait line offers a specific mechanic in which energy can be gained. they should all have reasonable icds. For example, make ventari minor that gives back energy on ally rez. shiro minor that gives back energy on enemy kill, etc.

3. if you switch from ventari to any other legend you cease to be a healer. this is a problem because sometimes you need to change legends for energy. there should be an effect that triggers every time you switch from one legend to the next that allows you to maintain its mechanics. if you change from ventari to any other legend, you should produce an aoe field centered on you that pulses 1k-2k healing and alacrity for about 5-10 seconds duration. similarly:
a. switching from shiro: 100% crit chance for 5-10 sec
b. switching from jalis: pulsing aoe stability for 5-10 sec
c. switching from mallyx: all attacks apply confusion and torment for 5-10 sec.
d. switching from glint: extend duration of ally boons around you by 5-10 seconds
e. switching from kalla: all attacks you make apply bleed and burning for 5-10 seconds, allies around you gain alacrity for 5 seconds
d. switching from ventari: pulse healing to allies around you for 1k-2k and alacrity for 5-10 seconds.

4. remove knockback from energy expulsion. keep the orbs. give aoe invulnerability for 3 seconds. raise energy cost and raise cd. consider removing the effect that causes it to deplete all energy if a prohibitive energy/cost change is made to compensate.

I would like to see the kb removed actually, and replaced with something more supportive like aoe invulnerability for your team. Might make it a better support/healer and give it some use in pve too. It would need higher energy cost though or a higher cooldown. Has to be well balanced so we don’t get a repeat of season 1 well of precog though.

Aside from shades not being cc’able so a scourge can just stand off point and let the rev die, firebrand also has a bonanza of stability that can pretty much keep a ventari rev from ever knocking anyone off.

I’m running core warrior build like the old power gs berserker build before nerfs using might makes right. I feel i am tankier but fighting power revs can be difficult since they hit harder than you can regen. guardians can be hard since they can avoid stuns and dazes and if you take bull’s charge to land your bursts you miss signet of might which lets you nail guardians. Works well on everything else though.

edit: i go axe/shield and gs. i take heal signet, berserker’ stance, endure pain, bull’s charge and elite signet. bull’s charge to hundred blades is pretty good and can ko squishies.

Hmm see the problem is, I was hoping might makes right finally lets us not drag adrenal health around wherever we go.

I tried to run a healer druid and it was a disaster. So based on those experiences, here are some suggestions:

druid has a lot of burst heal potential but once that is down you are useless and you can’t even defend yourself if you decided to take glyphs and verdant etching. Tempest has a burst heal in the form of wash the pain away but what really helps it is the sustained healing it can put out through auras. druid lacks sustained healing.

1. druid can get more sustained healing if you make verdant etching healing instant rather than delayed.

2. because druids have far less glyphs than tempest has auras to keep up sustained healing, it’s justified to increase the healing on verdant etching to about 2k. To balance this out without making meta bruiser druid stronger, you can split verdant etching into two effects. one heal for the druid for 1k, and outgoing healing to allies is 2k.

3. druid has a bigger problem managing condis than tempest does. tempest has earth traits, water attunement and earth focus 4 to help cleanse besides shout cleanse. in order to promote druids being willing to give up the condi cleanse signet for a glyph, verdant etching condi cleanse should be increased to 2.

4. Druid doesn’t have an emergency burst heal and relies on having avatar form ready to do this. this puts it at a huge disadvantage when compared to tempest. my suggestion is to switch the effects of the glyph heal. make it heal allies for a large amount when out of celestial avatar. make it heal the druid for a large amount when in celestial avatar form. you already have plenty of team heal on avatar form, the glyph heal healing allies for more in this state is overkill. it is needed when out of celestial avatar form.

5. in order to promote druids being able to use glyphs to make use of verdant etching, druids need a glyph that also provides access to stability to replace the current shout elite. making the glyph elite provide stability allows a druid to take more glyphs and allowing them to actually provide sustain healing, the same way a tempest does with auras.

6. an additional change i would suggest is to buff invigorating bond. make it a 3k heal for allies when a pet uses a beast ability and a 1k heal for the druid (to avoid buffing it as a bunker). if you take the sylvian hound, that’s a nice 5k heal for allies which further cements druid’s role as the burst healer over tempest. i think this is justified since tempest still has more utility: it has more projectile hate. druid only has staff 5. so it’s justified to give the druid access to a second burst heal. i would also suggest making the heal center on the druid, but it could be considered balanced to force the druid to put the pet on passive in order to use the heal properly (preventing them from using the pet to attack, like the current meta druid does).

Questions for you:

1. Have you tried playing guardian or warrior to counter condi spam?

2. when you engage in a team fight, do you choose a range weapon to stay out of the melee ball fight?

3. if you have no ranged weapons: are you mindful of aoe spam that can form inside of a point? do you try to avoid standing in the middle of the melee ball or leave periodically to recover from all the condis that you will be hit with? are you the type of person who insists on standing inside a point despite it being covered in red circles?

4. if you are the target of a focus, do you just sit inside thr point taking the beating or do you actively kite and try to cut line of sight from your pursuers?

5. there are instances in which you cannot escape a condi class. condi thf is an example. is this a problem with the class you are choosing? a necro will have a terrible time fending off a thf, but a guard will make it easier for you.

I think f1 and f3 tomes are fine. They are very impactful and the big cds make sense because of this. Additionally, these tomes have ways to be refreshed beyond using renewed focus. you can get f1 back by using radiance and you can get f3 back by using valor. The only outlier is f2 tome that doesn’t feel strong enough to be worth the cd and resource limitation. The healing is too low and unlike f1 and f3 (killing an enemy and rezzing an ally), does not have an alternative to get refreshed. It might make sense to place a minor in the honor or virtues line that refreshes f2 on core guardian.

I just don’t see how Spellbreaker alters Warrior’s playstyle at all. You don’t even dispel boons that well tbh, so it’s not like you become a hard counter to certain Ele builds or something. You just do the same thing as ever, slot the same utilities as ever (because SB utilities are pretty bad) and just melee stuff, except now you have a pretty cool defense/CC skill. The optimal way to play the spec in PvP is very similar to the age old core power Warrior. I think this is the biggest problem. The spec just isn’t different or flavorful enough.

And yeah, the spec is basically worthless in PvE, which is a real shame, since it’s the most supported game mode.

The spec is only good in zerg v zerg PvE. You suicide into the enemy zerg to put the Elite up which becomes invisible thanks to effect culling, the enemies lose Stability and your buddies can CC them to death. Wow, what a great role to have.

So being the reason why you win zerg fights is a bad thing?

If you can beat one DH build you can beat every DH build. Doesn’t matter if it’s traps symbols or burn.

block, block, block, heal, Renewed Focus, block, dodge, dodge, free-kill (in that order!)

While doing so don’t stand in or walk through traps, symbols, burn rings.

Protector’s impact has an internal cooldown of 20 seconds. The lesser smite conditions from smiter’s boon also has an icd of 20 seconds, so even though you can use mantra of solace every 12 seconds, the internal cool downs would prevent you from spamming.

Does work excellently for sentry points though and for thfs who need to get close to attack since you can just spam the symbol on your feet and range them from afar, forcing them to either get close to retaliate and take damage from your symbols, invisi to break your los and lose cap, or use lol pistols and lose anyway.

Actually i would be delighted if cooldowns would be calculated trough this formula..

Cooldown = max coolldown * pages left/ max pages

Should be ‘pages used’ rather than ‘pages left’. The way you have it, it would benefit the most to use all but one page, then exit the tome for an enormous cd reduction.

I like these suggestion. If you only use one page in a tome, the cooldown is severely reduced which rewards you for choosing your skills carefully rather than spamming.

ArenaNet’s never been very responsive about punishing unsportsmanlike behavior in PvP, whether it be AFKing, throwing, or BMing. I don’t really expect this to change, so you’ll just have to adapt.

Well, some of the guys who sold the top spots in July’s monthly tournament now have statues to their likeness in the pvp lobby, so maybe you’re right.

Can we have the option to stow tomes for a shorter cooldown?

For example, tome of courage is 90sec cooldown if you use up all your pages. But if you stow it before you use up all your pages, you instead get a 60sec base cooldown.

I think this kind of mechanic mirrors the mantra mechanic and is a good way to promote smart and situational use of tomes rather than spamming pages. You get two options: you can use up all your pages if you are under pressure, but get a bigger cd as the downside. But if you only need to use a chapter a few times, you can stow the tome and get a lower cd rather than feeling like you have to use up all your pages even though you don’t need them.

Another concern is how to handle pages when you stow. One option is to reset pages like what happens when tomes go on full cooldown. But if this is considered overpowered, pages can have a refresh timer like charges on mantras do.

This suggestion is for all tomes, not just courage.

People shouldn’t misconstrue the bans laid out by anet. They did what they said to do, and people aren’t in the position to be deciding these kind of things.

But, the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like when you unnecessarily name your team “Reformed manipulators” or “Cheaters always find a way” for the monthly AT, you mock anet and the community. You’ve essentially given everyone the middle finger. I’m sure it gave a few chuckles, but did you really find it that important to make a point?

Well, we did already get to test drive the new elites a bit in pvp though. Firebrand could work if it had better healing scaling on tome of resolve and maybe if the mantra heal also healed allies aside from giving aegis (would have to be a very moderate heal so it’s not overpowered since it triggers pure of heart).

Scourge is an interesting one. It has potential as a support spec. Not really healing but by letting allies take care of themselves by providing barriers, but i think most people played it as a condi nuker who uses barriers selfeshly.

Isn’t it about time we get more meta healer options that aren’t limited to aurashare tempest?

I thought firebrand might have been the answer to that but the base healing and coefficients on f2 are abysmal and druid is mainly used as a roamer/bruiser.

Occasionally i like to switch to tempest when i notice my team is too squishy (necros, mesmers, thieves, although tempest+base warrior is bunk city and i love it ) but I’d like it if i had more options when deciding to go healer besides tempest.

What do you guys think keeps ventari rev, mender druid, and old school bunker guard from being viable aurashare tempest replacements?

It’s not about me being mad about it though. I just think that sometimes you really respect your opponent even though you beat them, so aside from having dance emotes, it would be nice to have bow and salute emotes for when you want to show respect and not just mockery.

edit: even better. new emotes you can only use during the end match scene would be even better. some you can earn via reward tracks, getting into the leaderboard, winning daily and monthly tournaments and some you can buy with gems. letting you slot them in via the hero panel would be great.

The guy was supposed to be perma dishonored from pvp has the kitten to get on here and ask where his statue is at and a dev responds immediately on a weekend no less to look into it XD

The monthly is run on the weekend to allow as many qualified players as possible an opportunity to play. Even though it’s the weekend, we keep an eye on the tournament in case something goes wrong. A bug was reported that tournament rewards were not distributed correctly, so we’re going to follow up on that report. Nothing more to it.

Thanks for clarifying but within context you should understand how bad this made Anet look.

You have players who ruined the first monthly circumventing your punishment by making new accounts post about how they didn’t get rewarded a statue and a dev responds as if nothing happened. Thanks for explaining but it just looks really bad from a pr perspective. Hopefully you guys can understand why.

In pve, they inspire allies with banners and might.

in pvp, it’s the only class that can survive a melee ball forming on a point thanks to the regeneration and immnunities they have access to. Not to mention the good physical damage bursts from greatsword and axe and a shield for defense that is the envy of the guardian sub forum.

I love running base warrior and getting down and dirty by taking out the casters in pvp.

Can you give us some context OP? How many stacks were you hit with before you died? What did the guard do to put that many stacks on you before you died? What did you try to do so the stacks couldn’t kill you? Were you caught off guard?
