Badges of Honor turned into Badges of Tribute which can then be donated to your guild scribes for making WvW guild siege. Guild siege is as good damage wise as purple siege but takes less supplies to build making it very useful to smaller groups. (Guild Gollies suck though they are only same as Blue ones).
Guild gollies rock! Especially against a defended keep where the enemy has shield gens bubbling to block your cats/omegas.
Trident skills in general look and function quite nicely. What a waste.
Both underwater weapons are nice and functional and would be totally fun on land, but sadly must rot underwater. Trident would just have pillar be a symbol and the sink be a knockdown while the spear would have #4 be a line symbol that you hop back when you place it. The weapons would be so fun imo.
Oh man. Pillar of Light as the new Ray of Judgement please.
So to come back to main topic, Would it be Ok if it had a 3 sec ICD but could be triggered on multiple targets on a single tic?
Chilling Darkness does trigger on a single tick skill like Nightfall, Death’s Charge or Well of Darkness, but not on Deathly Swarm.
Glad to see Deathly Chill is still our highest dps 3rd reaper trait /s
camping greatsword is our highest power dps build
only below 50%. axe was buffed so above 50% you swap between axe&shroud and gs
Really? What’s the rotation/setup? I did try a few post buff, but still found camping gs best. Though I’ve never been one for perfect rotations.
It’s not an exploit… it is how it’s designed do people need a dictionary? Just because they have a tag up doesn’t mean anyone has to follow them… just saying you want extra pops get your own tag and get followers to get you those pips, it’s not a hard concept And players don’t have to group with people they don’t want to or open their Squad
Then they shouldn’t have a tag up (or they should run an invisible squad) if they don’t want people to join. It isn’t an exploit but it does encourage toxic behavior if you get a commander who isn’t letting people join (unless said people don’t want to do what the commander requires of them, like getting on TS).
Thing is, greatsword is a power weapon… I get that it would certainely have an impact but than again the chances of you using a greatsword when running condie are somewhat slim, am I correct?
Incorrect. Current condi meta uses greatsword. While yes, camping greatsword is our highest power dps build, it is far outpaced by our condi.
If you are referring to the time when Chilling Darkness had no internal cooldown, in the current meta, it would be a bit overpowered. A spite/curses/reaper build would mean that every blind you apply would also grant Chilled, 3 vuln and 3 bleeds (in non pvp mode).
Isn’t Well of darkness the only heavy blind application we have though? Death’s charge and Deathly swarm are the only others I can think of…
Edit: I remembered Nightfall was a thing.
Aye, and as Vitali said, every time we corrupt fury (Nightfall corrupts on each hit) it would be another blind.

Because repeating the same cycle of capturing towers over and over and over to unlock one item isn’t everyone’s idea of fun…
Then go back to killing pocket raptors in pve-land. Why should the game reward you with loot in a game mode you don’t enjoy? Entitlement.

New effect: now grants resistance for duration. Or is that too much?
With how weak “Strength of the Pack!” has become, I’d rather see that bug that was on Signet of the Wild’s active that made attacks unblockable placed onto “Strength of the Pack!” now. It’s a weaker version of SotW, so it really needs something to make it “elite”.
Then no one can stop my bearbow!
Ooo, I like the currency vendor idea.
Wow. Our off-hand weapons are stellar. All of the skills are great as is. If you want to buff them, I’m not going to argue. To say they are currently bad boggles my mind.
Ray of judgement is an ESSENTIAL condi clear in the condi met in sPvP. Cleansing flame is the same for WvW. And shield of judgement is a huge source of DPS in shattered aegis builds.
I’ve been playing WvW for a while now (restarted a year ago after HoT killed it for me) and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guardian use Cleansing Flame. Guards have way better options in terms of allied condi removal. While I could say some of the suggestions aren’t desperately needed, Cleansing Flame (and torch for that matter) need a good seeing to.
Also make the projectile on Torch #4 home in on the enemy.
It’s not discrimination. It is rewarding those who’ve played wvw for years. Why should new players, who might leave wvw altogether when they have their rewards, get the same amount of pips as those loyal to the game mode?
I welcome everyone new to wvw, and hope you find it fun, but you have to earn your ranks and rewards like the rest of us. Wvw has been neglected for ages, so it is past time for those of us playing this game mode to get something from it.
Please remember, someone else’s rank doesn’t take away from your fun and rewards. Stick with wvw and you’ll get there soon enough yourself!
i honestly dont understand why a “veteran” should be rewarded more then a new player..
i mean im a veteran and if a new player is doing better/more then me so be it give him the reward for it not me just because i spend more time on game and got my rank as advantage..
Its Anet’s way of saying “sorry wvw rewards sucked for so long”. As people have said, whilst pvers were swimming in loot, wvwers were left with a drought. So now that they have added better rewards, its only fair that those dedicated wvwers should get a larger share of it.
I don’t actually care what somebody else gets over me. However, how many of you up in your ivory towers laying into the OP farmed your “hard earned rank” in EoTM? Ask yourself that…
About 100 rank of my 2850. Mainly on reset, when I was unable to get in before queues started.
Good to see pve entitlement is alive and well.
A pretty common suggestion is to make it so you only receive outnumbered pip bonus if you were on the map for a longer time during the 5 minute tick than any other map. This would prevent those annoying afk map hoppers. Either that or swap the number of pips on Outnumbered and Loyalty.
I love the scepter GM, admitedly, to make it more optimal it’d be nice if that duration was scaled back a bit to maybe 25-30% range and something else was added to it for that trade off.
50% is quite too much and makes it too impractical to run builds that do not exceed condi duration caps on bleeds.
I have some great news: “Only the base durations are increased, thus not counting towards the maximum condition duration.”
That is, you can’t overcap duration due to that GM, it applies to the base duration which is then extended by the condition duration.
That is, not only do you not overcap, this is a separate multiplier, so it effectively double-dips on duration, meaning that you get 3x the (original) base duration with 100 percent condition duration, rather than 2×.
Nice !
I didn’t realize that. Everyone always told me it gets you over the cap. I was running Krait runes back in the day with this GM and I had some rediculous durations on my tooltip around 32 and 36 secs if I remember correctly. But I was told that those are incorrect and I am actually over the duration cap.
Right now I’m running nightmare runes, so my scepter 2 is 26-28 secs, depending which food etc. I use.
Generally speaking, traits that increase a particular weapon’s condition duration do not count towards the duration cap. Lingering Curse for necro, Chemical Rounds for Engineer etc.
The idea of Pips was to get people playing WvW again in the long term, not so they could ktrain it in eotm.
Anet seems to be avoiding underwater combat recently. Not that I blame them! (Seriously though, I enjoy underwater! Fix underwater skills ).
Personally, I think that all skills should at-least have an underwater equivalent. Maybe by the time we fight the Deep Sea Dragon we’ll get some changes.
(inb4 the Deep Sea Dragon is fought on ships. Or on the surface.)
I reckon anet will bypass that by having us discover underwater cities akin to the Gungan cities in Star Wars: Phantom Menace.
I hope that removing the much more useful retaliation is an indication of upcoming, retaliation involving speck.
… But that’s just a wishful thinkingLolwhat why? That would mean necro got nerfed before the next elite specialization even came out…
Exactly what they did to core necro before Reaper was released.
why would you want to use Death Shroud? It’s literally bad in every situation.
umm… life blast is a pretty strong ranged skill, and both Life transfer & Tainted shackles are very powerful when used right. Of course, so are Soul spiral/Executioner’s scythe but both those abilities affect a much smaller area.
So really, anytime i want to deal high single target damage at range or burst/control a large area, death shroud is the way to go. Staff can also do both those things, but not to the same extent, and axe is a no-go since it lacks aoe capability almost entirely, not to mention how much less range it has compared to both life blast & Necrotic grasp.
The hit radius on reapers auto seems terribly small too. If you could choose each shroud skill, I’d take Life Blast every time.
It’s all situational. While life blast pierces, it’s not likely to hit multiple targets, where as RS AA does have a 3 person cleave. If you are up against single targets DS AA works better, but against anything with adds or mobs, RS AA is better. The thing I don’t understand about DS is why have a ranged AA followed by a skill that pulls you into melee range? Who thought that was a good idea?
That’s just it. In pve I usually run power, so I camp greatsword for the most part (and when I do use shroud, I almost never auto). And in WvW, I’d much prefer to just have a 1200 range heavy hitting projectile since I can barely hit anything that isn’t an npc with reaper’s shroud auto.

Only other profession to replace their base mechanic with an improved version was technically Guardian.
I’ve more or less switched mainss to Necro since HoT came out. I tried playing my warrior again, and… well.. it isn’t good.
leaving aside the fact she’s not PURELY power built, she’s still heavily invested in the stat (~2250 power) and she only does 2/3 – if that – the melee damage that reaper greatsword can do.
For what is supposed to be THE heavy melee profession, it’s a little sad to see her outclassed like that, but at the same time i love how strong GS feels on my necro. /shrug
Edit: reaper shroudmelee also attacks a LOT faster, not to mention in an aoe, and weaving in the number 2 skill does seem to make the damage close, if not superior, to ordinary GS damage.
The thing with that is, Warrior has a tonne more party support skills and buffs than Necro.
Most likely some sort of exploit. Anyway, as you say, its not an issue for normal players.
Skill history says nothing, so it is likely a bug. Anet will probably fix soon.
Unholy Sanctuary
Blighters Boon
Vampiric
Vampiric Aura
Vampiric Wells
Whirl Finisher + Dark field
Signet of Vampirism (and blood bond version)
What would your dream team setup be for general raiding?
This can be for currently non-existent builds or builds that are impractical.
Mine would be:
Tank – Warrior
Healer(s) – Guardian (come up, they’re the spiritual succession of monks) whilst providing quickness too.
Power dps – Greatsword/well Necromancers
Condi dps – Shatter spam Mesmer
Might providers – Revenant
Another prime example of a lack in resources. They don’t have the budget to fix these kind of things. It’s sad.
Well I’m no coder, but given that Facet of Nature works underwater and is mechanically the same as the other dragon stance skills, I wouldn’t think it would take too much to allow it.
Also to those saying Anet doesn’t want to give any attention to underwater skills, last balance patch they made changes to underwater Mesmer phantasm skills.
To be honest, most people can’t reach the benchmark. Which isn’t something to be ashamed about, given that benchmarks are made against a static golem that can’t attack back. Getting it whilst dodging all the nasty attacks and complying with all the raid mechanics is a wee bit harder.
I think it’s a lore thing… Dwarves are made of stone and Glint’s made of crystal making them both quite un-boyant.
This is just a theory though, but if you look at other classes and the skills that they can’t use underwater, it’s all things like fire skills and poison clouds and other things that wouldn’t make sense underwater.
I don’t think it’s an actual problem with getting the skills to work though, because Unyielding Anguish (ground targeted travel skill) and Embrace the Darkness (area of effect around the caster) both have functioning underwater versions.
But there was a time when Facets would work underwater, so long as you activated them on land. You utilities would be disabled by you’d still pulse said boons. Anet sadly fixed it however.
The duration is long enough to make skipping possible, but short enough to not be absolutely brainless. Saying only 2 options is pretty misleading, when every signet use, and summoning a phantasm every 18 seconds, triggers it.
It is not misleading because all other options make it rather unreliable when it comes to avoiding damage spikes or saving someones life – unless it is heavily telegraphed. Which basically only applies to certain PvE and boss encounters. Which is why it isn’t too attractive in other scenarios.
18s? Meaning traited for the gods and perma Alacrity I guess? You sure pick convenient set ups when trying to make an argument for your point of view.
It’s used in raids extensively.
I’m aware of the raid meta. That’s one game mode…
As I said: If it was better it would be used more extensively. Gamewide. It gets even more obvious when realizing that people just started using it – even though Signets didn’t receive any buffs at that time – after everything else on Chrono was nerfed.
Its not just used in raids though. In WvW a 5 man organised mesmer group can be permanently invulnerable if setup and timed right. Granted they can’t do any real damage (unless people walk into their stack).
Sadly, they have made changes in the past that could have been extended to Flesh Golem, like when they changed ranger spirits so they had dolphin skins underwater. Anet could have given Flesh Golem a Risen Shark skin.
Also last balance patch Anet did change a few underwater Mesmer illusion skills, proving they haven’t completely given up on underwater balancing.
I’m still using my gs condi necro and for me, it’s still viable, combined with some minions as well. I suggest it.
Viable? Dude right now its meta.
I mean, depends if he’s camping greatsword or not. Since pure condi gs is worse dps than pure power.
That leak was a confirmed fake. Purely to spike the price of sawgrill mushrooms to make a quick buck.
Even if it’s a fake, it doesn’t mean, that there won’t be something different to a shroud mechanic with the new spec. Would be nice so far
Its highly unlikely however, given how certain traits interact with shroud. Yes it would be nice but the suggested mechanic just sounds like a copy/paste and change slightly of chronomancer’s f5. Most likely we’re getting another 5 skill + life force bar shroud.
The new skill is below average and it rarely reach its full potential. Its only useful in pve and arguably could be decent in wvw. Pretty unreliable imo.
Definitely need some changes.Actually, I find it very powerful in PvP as well, and situational – but effective in WvW.
Yea I can imagine random pvp players who ignore red circles, but that’s not serious…
Dude it’s like the single best decap skill in the game. You drop it on point and your opponent has to leave the point or get rekt.
What about power necro… or you forgot about that too…
Maybe if Anet finally revamps Lich Form, we might just get a pure power elite.
I just hope the skins for light T3 look a hell of a lot better than T1-2.
Likely it will just be a more fancy version of 2, given how 2 is just a fancier version of 1.
snip
That leak was a confirmed fake. Purely to spike the price of sawgrill mushrooms to make a quick buck.
It’s worth noting that Spectral Mastery doesn’t effect Spectral Walk’s swiftness, so you need to take warhorn with spectral walk instead, which can put you into combat unnecessarily.
Yes, to enable Dragon Stance underwater. And this is mechanically possible since Facet of Nature (f2) works underwater.
IMO some kind of movement ability or stealth is an absolute minimum!
Well given that shroud 2 has been a movement skill in both baseline and reaper, its almost guaranteed to be a movement skill again. Not sure why some people keep clamoring for stealth though. Seems like its in demand for the sake of demanding it.
tl;dr condi thief is the best condi build when used alongside other condi and with the perfect combo field setup.
To add flavour and to keep in line with the skill’s name, it will now only work if you are running away from your foe.
Since the epidemic changes, the skill has been bugged beyond belief, starting out by often instakilling you and your allies.
On behalf of every WvWer in existance (except maybe you):
Good
Downstate meta lover spotted
Necro downstate op!
I agree that we need a spec that gives us blocks, evades, invulns, charges, leaps and teleports.
Don’t forget a portal, aoe quickness and allied might generation.
I like that idea, maybe necromancers could get a place in raids now.
Nah, Anet would then give all that and more to Ele.
