You’re right, maybe I can find some other sucker to pay for me while I duel in his arena =P
Generous people = suckers ?
Right… good day to you.
I think they’re referring to them as “suckers” for paying for a feature that should be in the game regardless XD
Sounds pretty cool ^^ I really hope when GvG is introduced it uses the PvE gear style system like WvW.
This is probably the most requested feature in the game, not sure why it isn’t implemented yet >.>
Reputation with factions, now that’s an interesting idea.
It would be difficult to implement in such a short living story segment, but it’d be really cool if there was something like the old Kurzick vs Luxon idea from GW1
Tip: If you use an Invisible bag or box in your inventory, the items in it will not be deposited to collectibles nor will they appear in vendor sell panes.
Thank you for the tip, I honestly didn’t know that. Seems more like a player fix in which I’ll have to spend some gold on the TP to get XD but I suppose it’s better than nothing if there’s no other fix.
Is the day they are fixed.
Honestly, one of the more annoying features in the game right now is when you deposit all collectibles and your mini is sent to the bank.
Please, either gives us an option to disable “deposit collectible” on minis, or give the hero pane a “gear” slot where we can store one mini on our character safe from the tyranny of the “deposit collectibles” button.
How, exactly, will it bring more people together? I know that the first thing I’ll be doing if anyone tries spamming me with duel requests will be to block the sender.
Well I’m sure you won’t have to block the person if you have the right options from the start:
- “Available for duel”
- “Not available for duel”
and even if you set it to not available, you’ll get “duel be brah! duel me! you scared? you bad? duel me? duel meeeee!”
This happens. Hell, there have been people in this thread that have flat out said they would do that.
If you so desperately want to play 1v1, go buy mortal kombat, keep the kiddies/griefers off of here.
Really, griefers?
There is a simple way to resolve your problem: Ignore the player
There’s no need to not add a feature that would greatly enrich the game for many players simply because people don’t have the capacity to ignore the immature, or just don’t use their ignore list.
esports.
/fifteen
Lol, and dueling right? ;D
Ah… reminds me of an RP me and a random guy starting doing that ultimately lead us to wanting to duel directly in the middle of the Sunless fight… would have been so fun. :p
Which would have been AWESOME
The shenanigans one could get up to with the ability to duel are limitless XD
You should post a thread in the forums asking what to do with it, and then give some of it away to the posters who provide the best ideas. You can start with me, that was my idea
Haha, but really, why not try and put together a community event and use the money for prizes?
The PvE world is hardly being used as it is, we should at least be able to duel there XD Not to mention there are quite a few nice looking locations that would make for good duel hotspots.
Just throwing this idea out there If you don’t know what Oculus Rift is, it’s a virtual reality headset, go ahead and google it
ConcreteDucks has managed to get Oculus Rift running with GW1 (see video), can we at least get first person perspective in GW2? ^^
Yes! I would love the option at least if it wasn’t too much trouble.
Lets play a drinking game called Take a Shot For Every “It’s about the lore” Person in a Thread About Guild Halls.
I know right? I don’t understand why people are so insistent on making that comment.. I played GW1, I’ve read both GW2 books, I know about the lore. The thing is, the name of the game was not only referencing lore, but also referencing a major part of the first game: GvG. Something that is unfortunately missing from this game.
Yes please! Something like a “Hero’s Journal”.
Aye, I’d love to hear a status update on this as well, or even find out if they’re working on it anymore; and if they’re not working on it, I’d love to hear what they are working on XD
Let them duel in the mists. It’s big enough.
Yes because zones like Fireheart Rise, and Brisban Wildlands are just overflowing with players so we couldn’t possible allow people to enjoy the world and duel in exotic locations /sarcasm =P
Really, when dueling is implemented it needs to be done in the outside world, not only will the world actually get more use out of it- and unique duel spots be found (I can see the pit in Gendarran Fields being popular) -but it also allows for a huge amount of location variability rather than being confined to the mists.
Actually when private servers come you’ll have to pay gems to rent them, so in order to duel with less of a hassle you’ll have to buy the right to do so every week or month >.<
Honestly don’t know why dueling isn’t in the game at this point, it should have been there months ago.
Just chiming in on the topic of Dark Souls, those who haven’t played it seem to consistently have the belief that it is unbelievable hard. This isn’t true, set almost any modern game (be it RTS, FPS, or action RPG) to hard mode and it can be just as difficult, if not more difficult than Dark Souls.
The unique aspect of Dark Souls is that it is punishing, not hard, if you die and then die again without recovering your corpse you loose all your unspent EXP.
To get the Dark Souls feeling into Guild Wars the death penalty would have to be increased, which would cause quite an uproar I’m sure XD (unless there were specific high-risk, high-reward modes).
It was a sad day when launch came and there was no option for apostrophes in guild names
If they do add apostrophes, I certainly hope they let us change guild names.. Had to go with Freedoms Thrashers since Freedom’s Thrashers was unavailable XD
Custom Arenas are great and all, but you know you’d get lots of love if you also tossed in the ability for in world dueling.
I… Don’t understand… Are you implying that costume brawling is a suitable substitute for in world dueling? If so.. LOL
But at least for dueling I’d say it is basic for an MMORPG.
How are 1v1 battles “basic” for a “massively multiplayer” or “role playing” game? One of Guild Wars 2’s biggest emphases is on teamwork, so it’s completely understandable that PvP without a team is a low priority.
Duels provide a community element for PvPers, MMOs aren’t only about multiplayer battles, they’re about creating online worlds. Duels enrich the community and allow PvPers to learn how to play.. If anything duels are a great entry point for PvP, and can provide hundreds of hours of fun when dueling in different locations with friends.
Custom Arenas are great and all, but you know you’d get lots of love if you also tossed in the ability for in world dueling. Well, anyways, if it’s low on your priority list that’s understandable, but at least it’s on there right? * posts image and walks away while whistling innocently * XD
It’d be interesting to know if they’re still actively working on it, I certainly hope so… But if they aren’t then I’d love to know what they are working on.
I can’t keep them in my inventory, because I’m constantly hitting "deposit all collectibles.
OP suggestion would alleviate this, so +1
I know this pain.
The reason traditional quests are superior to heart quests IMO is it allows the quest to stay with the player, and longer quest chains even go through multiple zones; instead of being confined to a specific area on a map.
This game essentially has one traditional quest, the personal story.
I really like the idea of advanced classes, sounds like a cool way to specialize characters, make them more individual, and bring back some classes from GW1.
Unfortunately I doubt they’ll ever go this route though
According to wiki, dueling is on their list;
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upcoming_changes_and_features
A friend of mine actually added that to the wiki a while ago, that source is from a BWE. Not sure if they’re still working on it, but I certainly hope so :/
As far as I’m concerned this is a necessity. There have been countless other threads on this topic including my own: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Is-it-really-hard-to-add-dueling/first
Edit: Just realized OP posted this 2 months ago XD
(edited by Latorn.4209)
They should just make two different leaderboards. One including dailies and one excluding dailies.
I was about to make the same suggestion, it’s only logical.
Subdirector Klien actually discusses this concept with Moto now, don’t know if he’s always done that or not ^^
Wow, this sounds like an awesome idea
Perhaps for those who want a permanent SAB let them buy it and store it in their home instance.
Now if only there were other ways to make the home instance more homey.
Amazing!!!!!!!!
OH. MY. GODS. Can I get a “BOOYAH!”? XD
Honestly super adventure box is amazing!!! I know there are tons of threads thanking Anet for creating such great content… and this is another one of those threads! Feel proud guys, you’ve created something fantastic!! ^^
Go look in the BLTC forums, and you’ll see that some people have opened 100 chests and received none, while others have opened 5 and gotten 1.
How about more PvE rewards. I know today’s patch added laurels for completing SPvP Daily/Monthly and that is a great first step.
Actually gives people like me, and I’m sure plenty of other players a reason to go into SPvP.
Yeah i finished my monthly pvp today and got those 10 extra laurels, well 11 with the daily, what?
I honestly think it’s not fair and needs to be reverted, or disabling next month pve/pvp monthly reward for those players.
Why is it not fair? No one plays SPvP anyways since it doesn’t actually give you any rewards that can be used in 99% of the game.
Seriously? Holy kitten! I might have to go and play PvP for once.
You’ll find out soon.
:D Hahaha, can’t wait to see what you guys have done ^^
You can try, but I’m pretty sure a name remains “in use” 24 hours after character deletion. At least that’s how it was shortly after launch.
It already happens in WvW and if you want to duel a specific guild, the soon to exist Custom Arenas.
Neither of those are anything like GvG was in GW1 though :/
Regarding “D”, I think that is perhaps one of the biggest letdowns so far unfortunately. Prior to launch I was under the impression that the home instance would serve as a mix between a player house and the hall of monuments from the first GW. I really hope they recognize how important it is to create virtually tangible (lol XD) achievements rather than just giving us achievement points. Instead of getting 3 achievement points for completing the “Lost and Found” achievement in living story, I’d rather have the refugees or their items come chill in the home instance.
I’m just interested to see the direction the living world content will take, and inquisitive as to whether or not anyone has anymore information regarding how it will play out.. I mean so far the living story content currently implemented have supposedly just been “teasers”.
Will there be instanced content? Similar in style to the personal story perhaps? Will we be seeing more voice acted cutscenes? Or is Anet planning to step away from that approach? Anyone have any thoughts or knowledge to share? XD
I’d love to know what Anet is working on currently. I’m not frequently on these forums so I’ve probably missed a lot, but they haven’t communicated with fans like they did with their AMA in a while have they?
The people who answered with “gems” make me hate this game and the fact that Legendaries (items that will be upgraded to ascended tier) are buyable with gold T-T
Thread Necromancy is a forbidden spell nowadays RedStar.
Lol, even still it’s interesting to look back and see what direction the devs wanted to take with their content a few months ago.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
^^ go there look for Current game status then click on Upcoming changes and features
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upcoming_changes_and_features
Step 2 Read so now we can get these 500 QQ threads about dueling off the Forums. Any post after this one that talks about how they need to add dueling should be reported plain and simple, cause if you read the information in that second link you will find that there is no more reason for this thread to continue
It’s a wiki, anyone can add content, what if I was the anonymous individual who added that entry?
Also the discussion forums are a place for discussion, and particularly in the suggestion forums Anet needs to see what people want, so by all means continue posting in this thread if you wish.
Just happened to me, I was messing around as an insane RPer, and I used the phrase “Beee the leaf.” about 3 times in a minute, now my messages are suppressed due to excessive messaging. >.<
I know you’re assuring it’s the truth, and it’s not that I don’t believe you, but if you could provide a link to a post that says this, purely for interests sake, that’d be awesome.
Thank you for this. I remember getting pumped about this game mechanic prior to release, and then completely overlooking it while actually playing. Now though, I’m definitely going to start comboing with friends more often. The combos should be even stronger IMO to encourage skillful behavior like teamwork.
