Leeto, then make sure to rotate properly so no squishy class is forced on point. And it´s easier to hold a node vs my build than any warrior/engi. I wouldn´t use pirate if i had access to perma 25 might or perma burn. To survive strength runes, unavoidable air sigils etc i have to apply counterpressure which is not easy to do in a duel if all your single target abilities are designed that poorly, so I´m using pirate to compensate for my builds weaknes and the bad design of air2 and autoattacks.
It´s just annoying to see clueless people crying about it and influence clueless devs with their opinion.
Indeed in a perfect world we would see less ai, but it would also hurt many builds that don´t benefit from might stacking or burn spam on a competitive level.

I don´t understand why you struggle with that bird. As a homepoint defender im tanky enough to deal with it, as a roamer im fast enough to kite it. As warrior i get free condi removal cause i always land earthshaker on atleast 1 target when dueling and anyone running pirate runes sacrifices alot in teamfights. The real problem is, that in some cases the AI is higher than the player intelligence.
So if its that easy to deal with the bird why you find it so good on your staff ele and want to keep it in current state so badly?
Because when someone is forced to stand on point in 1v1 against pirate rune user it completely kittens him up.
Against a theif yes, I’m not talking about any theives. I mean the GOOD s/d evasion theives. Not the ones running around invisible the entire time the ones that everytime you try to hit them with an attack just evade the stupid thing in plain sight.
Also I mean PvP, not wvw. They are not the same. If your experience is mostly wvw then you should probably go play pvp for a while until you get high up in the soloq those are the s/d theives I’m talking about. I trash the ones I usually run into in hotjoins.
Believe it or not but power necro is only zerker that can actually kill 10/0/0/30/30 S/D thief in 1v1, ive defeated every single good S/D thief i know Sizer included but you wont do it if you play with axe instead of dagger, ofcourse it favours thief and if he catches you with no cooldowns, 0 life force or not full hp then it wont happen if thief doesnt f up.
Edit: ontopic Staff is must have weapon for any PVP necro and Axe is completely garbage weapon for PVP, many might disagree but not many have been in top 100 soloq/teamq with power necro.

This is absolutely HUGE and awesome thing for PVP!
It doesnt matter how much they nerfed it, anet adressed a balance issue in patch and we didnt have to wait 5 months till feature patch.
For me it felt amazing scrolling down patch notes checking all tooltip updates and seeing actual balance change and its good thing cause if you want balanced game then you gotta do small changes when theres an issue instead of only dropping huge changes once per 5 months.

I know this will sound shocking in this no skill/mindless spam/carried by class game but its actually about player.
Some classes are better than other of course but when you are looking for people to play with good player on average class will benefit you more than average player on good class.
You want people to be at right time in right place doing right thing not just randomly die all over the map on some OP build.
And even “skill” requirement of classes are BS, its about your dodge/cooldown management/game knowledge/positioning/situational awareness and not about how many fancy tricks your class have, once you master one class you can be decent on any class and great once you get used to that new class.
This meta is joke its all about who can proc and stack the most, perma vigor classes with energy sigils random dodging around, warrs playing bunkers while bursting you down with 20 mightstacks and intelligence sigils…

No they havent put too much time into balancing around conquest because they created the whole game around idea what PVP will be conquest.
Every class has something OP they can do but conquest keeps it balanced.
If that bunker wouldnt need to sit on point but could run around to survive, or thief wouldnt have to take mobility to move across map, or necros wouldnt have to worry how to survive in long term now thats when stuff would really be imbalanced.

actually u can test it easily to place marks correctly with the trait is still significantly slower than dagger or axe. not to mention numbers don’t lie even if u have reduced cd (2 on death)
and 4 on soul reaping ur lf generating slower than dagger. i’m not saying use dagger or axe, i’m stating that the problem comes from that
minions requires 0 skill therefore i don’t care about those.
1 thing we agree is that a broken class is still a broken class.

but ds is suppose to be our main tool yet we have very limited options on charging it.if any skill would do that

Marks give life force when they get triggered doesnt matter if they are triggered by dodge or not, you still get life force.
And i play both power and condi necro in PVP and i guarantee you if you gonna go closer than 900 range into teamfight without having life force then either you are gonna die or will have to use flesh wurm.
TBH majority wont even understand what im on about here but i just hope anet will see this and think about it cause i guarantee if LF mechanic isnt changed or necro doesnt get something super cheesy then it will never have place in high end pvp.
No dagger = 0 life force when kited, axe = 0 life force when dodged, staff 1 = 0 life force because its projectile. There is only 3 reliable ways how to get life force – soul marks, spectral attunement and shadow fiend…
Everything else can be avoided and no other proffesion has such problem that when people avoid your offense you loose defense + utility.
Weapons generating extra life force is all nice and fancy but once you have rely on them in high rated teamques then it becomes BS.
Im pretty sure every necro who has played at higher rating have basicly played wrong just because of life force, be it switching to staff when you actually need scepter or running in with daggers when you obviously will take extra dmg, or sticking in teamfights longer than you should just spamming staff 1 just so you can move to another point without beeing caught with no life force.
And i didnt mean regenerating 50% out of combat i meant regenerating all out of combat but cut the base amount of LF by 50% cause i can assure you thats where the balance is. You can especially feel this on power necro, if you enter fight with more than 50% then you are unkillable life blast machine and if less then you just have to play recklessly by spamming skills just to get more life force.
Edit: oh and having to summon minions then destroy them at start of game just so you arent completely useless/defenseless in first minutes of game doesnt feel any good either.

Because its not about getting life force its about life force beeing huge part of necromancer while beeing quite RNG.
As i said full life force = OP, no life force = useless
And it depends on too many variables, it depends on your setup, it depends on enemy setup, it depends on your build, it depends on whats going on in game.
You are fine with life force, then you get preassured and have to drain life force, you cant just retreat and wait while this defense mechanic is back up, you have to go back into combat without any defense and play your class wrong, be it shooting unreliable projectiles from staff 1 or wasting your utility marks just to get life force, cause if you get caught with no life force then you are just dead.
Its just gimmick mechanic, if someone runs pirate runes then basicly necro has 2k more HP or for power necro 12k extra damage cause parrot dying gives 10% life force
Or if its a khylo match then necro can gain life force without engaging anything just by shooting staff 1 into clocktower wall…
In its current state DS is just joke mechanic, life force management takes skill but its much less important when LF gains are affected by factors that necro has no control over.
If necro would always engage combat with set value of life force and from there it would depend on necros LF managing with set of skills then necro would be in much better spot.
Hmm… Well, I haven’t picked up a staff on my power necro for ages now, but… I have no real issues gaining life force.
And from what I remember, Soul Marks wasn’t that helpful either. Sure, it’s nice but I don’t really need another LF source.
Sorry but you just dont play the part of game where its required, just because condi necro is somewhat fine in PVP i wouldnt go and say to PVE topic that condi necros are fine in fractals because i wouldnt have any idea what im talking about.
Soul marks and staff is just a must have for any PVP necro, and for power necro even more than for condi necro.
Whole necromancer class is balanced around deathshroud beeing both its defense and offense overall its fine but it has too high RNG factor and is too unreliable for high end PVP.
If you have 0 life force then you are just running around like some junkie spamming your staff 1 trying to get some, but in reality there is only 1 reliable way to get life force in combat and that is spamming marks while having soul marks trait, cause all other attacks that give life force can be avoided.
If you have 100% then you are unkillable death machine, especially on power necro cause you can basicly 100-1 any class just by spamming nr1, which is just lame gameplay, power necro could have decent skill cap cause it can do nice burst combos and has overall good sustained dmg but atm most beneficial way to play power necro is spam staff skills till you have lots of life force and then jump in it and spam life blast till enemy dies.
It is only defense in whole game that doesnt restore over time, if you preassure necro once then thats it, even if he survives then next time he enters combat he has less defense (and actually less offense+less utility).
So my idea would be: Make life force regenerate out of combat and cut the base life force pool by 50%
Remove life force gains from deaths but other ways of gaining life force are fine to maintain it in combat.
This would basicly make necros have 50% life force at all times when going into combat and from there it would depend on necros ability to manage life force, it really feels that current 50% is where its balanced.
This would open up alot of build variety too cause atm every necro is forced to go 4 pts in soul reaping just to have some life force in PVP or take minions.
Out of combat life force probobly should regenerate over like 15-20 seconds so it cant be abused.
This is best idea i could think of, maybe there are some better but something has to change about death shroud, cause atm its just holding the whole profession back and destroying its gameplay.
I think sizers build needs an honorable mention in this topic too…
Going for supreme survibility/utility while retaining such high dmg makes S/D imba
90% of players are just selfish, they dont care about the game they just care about themselves.
Engi can rek most of classes but gets destroyed by necro, you think they want to be more balanced against most classes and have better chances against necro? No they just want necro to be nerfed.
Theres perfect example of this atm in spvp section where someone pointed out the obvious thing that strength runes are OP, warrs just excuse that its only way how to deal with bunkers/condi classes, they dont care about all those people who play zerker builds and get bursted down by classes who play borderline bunkers like soldier warr or celestial ele.
I feel that most of the time if im on d/d and have to switch to staff then its because i gotta remove some condis like immob or the target is running away, so xfering immob with 3k hit and then following it up with 2x 1.6k`s works very nice or just having guaranteed crit autoattacks to finish off runner.
Dont have many situations where im on D/D and want to get away from people, but if that happens then i feel that chillblains is enough.
Ye AoEs consuming all 3 intelligence stacks is lame but mostly if i need those guaranteed staff crits then its in 1v1/2 situations.
Ofcourse it should be nerfed, when anet changes runes to get more of a rune variety and everyone rolls the same rune then its clearly broken.
Even builds that dont provide might use them and surely runes are meant to synergize with builds, not provide something OP that build isnt meant to have.
And dont even start on this BS about how you need it to deal with bunkers, you need them so you can run borderline bunker build yourself while having big dmg.

And yes i took close to death now so once enemy hits 50% i become magicly skilled and have easy time killing him.

Key traits are – chill of death + close to death in spite and vital persistance/soul marks/death perception from soul reaping
Utilities – flesh wurm and then you can go with wells for dmg or corrupt boon + well of power or spectral walk for utility/survibility
Simple build, easy to play, effective and has decent skill cap.

I was saving up for spark, but not only i cant save enough gold cause price is rising faster but i decided kitten it! Just think about it, why some tool would deserve your hard earned gold for just beeing lucky? I wont give my hard earned money that i saved for month to some random guy who killed mob or dropped yellows in forge… I will just whine about incompetence of anet
It is very good timing, my server has won already the season and has nothing to do for these last 2 weeks, for other servers its the same thing everyone can just choose to go WvW or PVE, and ye ofcourse servers with more active WvWers than PVErs have advantage now but i dont see whats wrong with that.
If your server cares more about PVE than WvW then ofcourse you should be in disadvantage against other servers.
Ye sure just leave thief on 9 seconds cause they have no cooldowns, and who wants to have no recover time after you forced thief into shortbow…
I mean you just want this cause of long cooldowns on weapon skills and not to be immortal on thief right? RIGHT?
Ye just because feature patch cause some obvious balance issues doesnt mean they should be fixed with simple changes. We need 5 months at least to get used to imbalances before they can be resolved.
Except when theres thief then you just sit afk, cause as others thiefs say, changing your strategy when enemy team has thief takes brain so use brain and just run in circles on close point thinking what you are gonna eat for dinner.
Well anet should watch this and maybe at last realize that people need some incentive to play, they added motivation to enter PVP now we need some motivation to actually be good at PVP.
Its season 2 in WvW ending soon yet there havent been even one season in PVP… tournament of legends is nice and all but it doesnt motivate me to play on daily basis

Im not saying dont add skins in gemstore or something but something like 2 sets in game 1 in store or 1:1 ratios or i dont know 1 in game and 2 in store but kitten something more than 0 in game and 18 in store.

Well anet said endgame will be about chasing skins that people want and we did that in 1st month of GW2.
How many sets of gear have been added since? 0 at all but in gemstore 18 sets not counting individual pieces.
When i started playing i was sure that you will get gear for playing content and then some fancy backpack or helm in gemstore but its actually completely other way around, you buy looks in gemstore and just get some fancy backpack from doing content.
Like in nightmare tower they added gloves and shoulders, it would be cool if you would have to solo the last dungeon or do something specific or just do it multiple times to earn the gear with tokens but no you just do the content once and then you buy gear in gemstore.
Can you say that you got your shoulders by killing scarlet in under 10 minutes? No you just bought them from gemstore.
Ofcourse in game where maps are squares and is full of glass walls i cant whine about immersion but it really feels lame that you buy your gear and not earn it.
Gear is content, there is alot of things to do but noone cares to do them cause there is no reward.
Add timer to 6 jumping puzzles, reward with tokens for doing it so people can buy lawless set for them… BOOM people kept busy for week +
But no instead they take lawless set and split it into pieces and sell each for 300 gems cause why sell 1 set for 800 gems if you can sell it for 1800 gems…

If someone gets drop he can sell it for 400 and get nice profit, but as it is atm its just BS, the cost of your legendary depends on class/spec you chose to play.
If i would play with focus then i could make legendary already but now i need 5 times more gold just because of weapon set i chose to play.
And i would much rather invest gold in actual game than just give it away to some guy who maybe just got lucky and killed random mob while leveling, why would he deserve the gold i was saving up for months.
I won’t ask for a precursor drop or for the mystic forge to give me one.

IMO its must have trait for PVP.
For DS reliant necro it incrases dmg cause you can basicly cast 60 life blasts instead of 30.
For necro that just uses it for survibility its awesome too, it doesnt decrase the dmg incoming but you loose less DS and when you jump in DS to survive you will normally stay in it for some ~5 seconds at least, so you might not absorb any dmg but still you will loose less DS when pressured than without the trait.
And its 4% per second without and 2% with.
So i got all hidden stuff for this achievement and was 174/175, took some while till i found that im missing Doldenvan Passage in Wayfarer Foothills, i go there got it discovered and it didnt go towards my achievement, still 174/175… any ideas what can i do?
The non one sided game were exciting but you gotta know the game so you can see good plays, sireph and blu are good casters but their not very good at spotting skillshots.
So i bought some of new necro traits to test out, logged my build testing necro, and guess what… their locked!
This is just wrong, every time i create new char i have to pay again for the traits i have already bought.
Sadboi here cause i just wasted 3 gold for condition trait that i cant even use on my condi necro…
My PVE gear is not maximized you can see stats at start of movie, basicly berserker trinkets.
Overall its just 40% crit chance 1200 toughness and everything else on maximizing dmg power+ferocity.
After patch im busy with tpvp so havent had much time for roaming, when i settle on my tpvp build then i will look what adjustements i can make to my WvW build/stats.
Casters themselves lack knowledge to explain gameplay, it really takes quite experience to understand whats going on instead of just seeing clusterkitten
They just normally say this fighting this and that gets bursted and this stomps etc. but every game there were quite many skillshots going on yet noone called them.Talking about landing skills is not a good way to cast in a game that has 10 skills a second being used in team fights. The only way to cast the action is play by play meaning the bursts stomps resses etc, stuff that actually has an impact on the game. Sure every once in a while they can say wow skill x did y because it had a big impact on a fight but for the most part the average viewer wont be able to keep up so doing a skill by skill commentary is a bad idea.
Also the caster client dosent have a set viewer, blu was controlling the stream view and sireph was watching from his own perspective so commentating on action out of frame happens more often.
Ye well thats why there are casters, to call out skillshots, average viewer sees himself that there is stomp or that guy is capping base. And no there is only few skills that have big impact.

2 years ago warrs were kitten and everyone who played them were mad skilled now the same people are called nubs.
Engis were super difficult and required lots of skills, now they do exactly same thing as before only are more powerful at it so everyone just says its mindless condi spam.

Play thief as they are not limited to cooldowns you can always improve your initiative management.
You play minionmancer without keybinds and afk on point…
