Guess bunker d/d cleric ele with boon duration would do. You would be helping your allies by healing them, curing, giving boons and ofc disturbing foes. Basicly you do these things at offensive mode, so it’s no point going for 100% tank.
Ether renewal is better during actions due to short cooldown, high healing (for me it’s 6k) and uncredibly great condition cure. It has pretty long cast time, but used the right way it is very powerful. As far as I know when you use it, you should run back for 2sec to avoid melees (knockdowns etc.). And on versus against whoever has confussion it’s really GG.
1. Perma means perma. Both auras give around 8sec, switching to air gives 7-8sec and air #5 gives 16 (with 60%). It’s already half minute boost within 3sec. With glyp it’s even easier.
2. @GrandmaFunk. Ye, but low vitality means 12-14k (cannon ele/ cannon thief) and with so much condi removal ele has it’s not really big problem. Ofc sometimes 10stacks of confussion are, but it happens.
Edit:
3. @mbk. Perma fury can be easy obtained with 60% boon duration (at least 50 which makes 3sec of fury instead of 2 once you switch). and 10 in air which gives fury. Ofc it won’t hit nowhere near 1min, but during fights (if your combo is good and you don’t spend year on each of attunaments) it should stay at level of around 15sec.
4. Cleric set (keeping healing power over 800) gives great group utility. Soothing mist and regen you apply is already around 400 passive and if you dodge-switch to water-water#5 you can heal almost 7k of allies heath within 2 seconds.
High critical chance with lots of toughness is as well great, elementalist’s base attack isn’t low so to cannoners you might hit easly for few k, and that hurts.
(edited by Lert.6287)
60% boon duration gives you perma: regen, swiftness, fury, vigor (trait from arcane), 10+ stacks of might. Over half of the time you can have protection as well (like 7sec after switching to earth i guess). I don’t really think it’s waste of stats.
To make it clear. You’re WvW player right?
Personally I’d never want to go under 16k with around 2.5k armor (if it was possible without wasting other stats, I’d go even for 2.7k armor).
With my cleric set (850-1000 healing power) 16-17k seem to be perfect. For that I use signet to heal, with WvW bonus ’’medic’’ it’s over 300healing per attack and passive around 500 (soothing mist, regen, mango pie).
People with low healing power (250-400) tent do use Ether Renewal with solder’s/knight armor. Glyph is good for roaming tho, but in fights, worst of all 3 heals.
The thing with healing power and vita is that there is no point to go for like 22k health cause 1. you lose other stats, 2. you won’t refill it quick.
I run 3x water and 3 monk. Rather that additional 85 healing power, but well, I run rather with healing power items right now.
Keep in mind with blasts, sigil of battle and 60-70% boon duration you will have 13-14 stacks of might only from SWAPPING. With blasts it’s mostly around 20 permamently (or more). It boost nicely damage.
Edit: Just noticed your bad trinket choice – cavalier. Jewel to trinkets is great if you’re going rather for attack, but trinkets themselves not. I’d choose either soldier or knight.
Count it yourself. Jewel to trinkets – 25/15/3dmg (1 critical damage = 5 stats)
Trinkets – 67/48/3dmg (1 c. dmg = 16 stats).
(edited by Lert.6287)
Keep in mind that most eles run with 30-60% boon duration. I run with 60% boon duration which is 3 stacks of might every 9sec for 32 seconds! Easy counting it’s 9-12 stacks of might ONLY from that single sigil. I don’t know what could be better than additional ~350attack and condition.
You spend a day in this tier, kill a few randoms, and already start calling Dzag and Rof bad players…
Its obvious you came from Seafarer’s with that attitude really.Well, I’m not calling anyone ’’noob’’ just to make it clear. Neither I want to start flame war. I transfered here cause i dislike zerging and queues, but didn’t expect such huge gap between players. I used to be RoF player for the first 3 months of the game.
Just want people to leave their oppinion about enemies they are fighting with. Maybe It’s me that in last ~5h playing I met every possible worst player and it won’t happen again, right…. right? There is a reason why people love to play in the low end tiers….
Casuals like me hate to work in games, follow strict guild and zerg rules/orders from self acclaimed pros or learn tactics against every possible build in 1 on 1 but enjoy 1-2 h in the evening playing a little war.
Why don’t you go back from where you came? For elite roxxors who wants to show off this tier will sure be boring. bye!
Calm down angry guy. I mean no harm. I just ASKED, do you know what that means? Read what I write. I said I changed server due to things i do not apperciate at T1 (running with big groups and hell long queues). The point of it is to ask players (from every 3 servers) what they think about their enemies. I don’t want to offend anyone.
I don’t claim to be pro. I just dropped few examples.
I’d like to point out that for me tier means nothing. When I go WvW it’s not for taking camps, towers etc etc. It’s simply about killing players, not really helping server to be better in rank.
State of OP is to:
1. Kill people faster
2. Not being cannon
He won’t kill people even close to being fast with ~2k attack. That’s like 300dmg under critical? And how much bleeding? 90, maybe 100?
It’s pretty obvious enemy will try to do his best to face you (hell, to hit you he has to be facing you), so it’s low chance for bleeding by shortbow.
Now compare ranger’s condition damage to engi, necro, warrior. Warrior has insane bleeding with F1 sword and #1. Stacks it easly to 15+ and keep it. Can ranger do it? – Meh, cmon >.< Now engi – has every possible condition damage and with his best will keep every of it on his opponent while ranger can do few stacks of bleed, sometimes poision and periodicaly burning.
Running with knight set (2900attack, ~60critical damage, 60% chance, 3k armor) gives stable and fast damage each shot, still with traits dealing 60condition from bleed.
My opinion is that condition ranger is nowhere close to knight ranger. It’s gap like burst matter between thief and ranger.
@Krosan.
Not really. But It was due to lack of existence of ones. As I said, it barelly happened to meet small group. I’m not kidding now – people were sometimes escaping even if they were tad more (let’s say 3 vs 2 or even 4 vs 2) as long they didn’t meet someone to join them. 8 vs 2… yeh, then they could give it a try. Imagine now bigger groups of 30people fighting 10 people and zerg rushing camps etc. SFR became quite similar, but well, somehow even against zergers it was winning.
I still were able to fight skirmisher’s groups for my own or in duo. Mostly with rather good result, but I feel here like it was just too fast. People running with signets only and whatever makes their armor ~1.9k were few attacks for me – ranger who hits 900 at it’s finest.

We transfered to here due to two reasons:
1. We don’t run zergy. Without randoms in area if possible, if they are around, we simply let them die to have a challenge. Every server at T1 is all about gang-bang now. Neither server leaves town as long they don’t gather 30 people to do it. Our enemies server were literally running with almost every possible person on borderland, which means – you either fight against 40+ players or you’ve got nothing else to do.
2. Queues we’re horribly long. Some evenings even two hours and I don’t have time for that.
Yeh, parly I’m glad I see groups of skirmishers. One versus few is something I can give a try to, but the thing I’m disappointed is that I can kill most of them alone or (if not) if I make unforgivable mistake during fight, they will give me opportunity to run away.
Just wanted to get thoughts out of you. I just feel I’m facing really weak enemies (at least the ones I met so far).
Hey. I’ve got a question.
I came to Gunnar’s Hold yesterday after spending ~1.5-2 months on Seafarer’s Rest. Comparing these both servers don’t you think that enemies are extremly weak here? I mean… unskilled or running with some really stupid builds (like condition while having weapons for direct damage).
I’ve got no problem killing people here. Yesterday was like neverending 1 vs 3-4 killing spree. If i got one down, sure there would come replacment. The weirdest thing is I was on my ranger (considered as weak class) whole time. I’m affraid what will come to once I log d/d ele…
0-30-30-5-5 isn’t really meant to be for condition build. It works way better with knight set and trinkets with berserkers jewel on them. Other way you finish with ~15-16k hp and 2.3k toughness.
Weapons: Shortbow, sword&warhorn.
Even after patch greatsword isn’t really more viable than sword.
Ye, you’re missing that it’s not only about dealing damage.
We can as well re-roll or stop playing. Scroll last 2-3 pages. There are several topics about people re-rolling to their alts (which become main) or some even stop playing.
Ranger was my main and only for first 3 months of game and for the last 1.5 month, but it’s time to get clever once again and just spend time on proffession I can actually do something.
There’s no point complaining and hoping for a magical fix because it’s just not going to happen, let’s see what we can come up with.
And somewhere in Bellevue, an ArenaNet developer chuckles, smiles approvingly, and tells his cubical mates, “See? I told you”.
That literally made my day. Thank you. There is so much wisom in your words.
Pedra.4381, you’re a wise man, I can tell.
Positive side to being a ranger, we can’t go anywhere but up. It can’t possibly get any worse than it is, can it?
ANet: Challenge Accepted.
Range appears to be around 400, so I’d consider it as range attack, not melee. Aoe with radius around 240.
Just tested it using D/D skills and fire elemental.
Both water and earth elementals got range rather 130.
Air 900 (?).
Keep in mind both air and fire are ranged. Air stuns and swifts (for like 8sec?), but fire deals the highest damage. Along with your attack it might even come to burst if your elemental hits in the exact same time as you do.
Half joke/ half serious.
The good side of being ranger is ability to take blow after blow. After months on it you’re completly different person – rageless. 1/2 hp in one hit – ain’t even mad. No way to escape? – ‘’keep calm and turn on your second cheek’’.
But I’m glad for you that you have fun on it, I really am.
Just look at this. Ranger is even considered as biggest GW2 mistake.

Well, glad at least devs got other thoughts.
Last 1.5month i spent nearly only on ranger WvWing trying to get more out of this class after re-gear. I, so many of you, will nearly stop any activity on my ranger for now. Basicly no good chances in last months, only several nerfs while other classes are boosted every patch.
I’m as well from EU tier 1. Tbh there are quite much no other rangers.
It’s new appearance of legendary or idk – destroyer?
Tbh it’s horrible, but guess we all expected that.
Quite much no changes. One stun breaker, no burst anymore due to pet change, some upgrade to greatsword.
If you want to deal damage and still be pretty tanky and group supportive, you can always spend additional 3gold on berserkers jewel to your trinkets. And trinkets soldier/knight. For PvE and dungeons you don’t need much healing power beside traited. Allies will be thankful enough for soothing mist (100hp or so per sec, quite much all the time) and some regeneration the ones, who can’t do it themselves.
Guess I will have to ’’bump’’ it. Don’t know why it was ignored, it’d be great boost for our pets.
0-30-30-5-5 I find best one.
You can’t relly from killing pet, lol.
I’d like to point that combo fields without leaps/ blast finisher/combo finisher aren’t worth much – especially i’m talking here about blasts.
In my 3-4-5ppl dream team I’d never include ranger. It’s cool as long he has support from group, with shortbow it’s literally ranged-melee, can prevent people from escaping. But any other proffession can bring much more to group, even engi, which – referring to poll, is weaker than ranger. Hell, engi can stack people’s regen to 1min by only his own, got few blasts, few disturbing zerg things, can tank much longer (especially with shield and that one kit).
Either in sPvP and WvW one has no problem going for 1300healing without runining every other stats. Don’t forget it might go 250 higher due to sigil of life and at WvW it’s even higher due to 7% healing power improvment ’’Medic’’ grants you.
In sPvP cleric amulet gives 798h.p. according to wiki. Another 300 comes from points in water. It can go 165 (from runes) and 250 (from sigil) higher – so guess max is 1513 at sPvP (might be wrong). So regeneration gives 320health per sec and soothing mist around 160. Cleasing wave itself gives 2815.
I’m not going to argue you over internet mate, but don’t you see people would be more likely to agree with me than with you?
I’m sorry, but don’t you see that the problem is rather you? Not the ele’s healing power.
Look for eg. ranger – best you can do is to improve just a little healing skill with quite much no self-regeneration.
Running with 140-150hp rec/sec from soothing mist and twice as much from regeneration applied by cleric elementalist is huge difference. Beside that ~450hp/sec healing ele can recover 7k health of party member in no time:
>Be around ally during battle
>Dodge switching to water
>Cleasing Wave – 5
With healing gear each of those 3 gives 2.5-3k health. The triple combo you can do every 40sec, else 2/3 every 10sec = 5k health.
Sure…. we can all agree that ele is still so underpowered far behind rangers and necros.
You should start of by dropping few details about your build, like: traits, stats you mostly prefere or weapon combinations.
I’m kind of surprised you’re not really into group support – zerg disturbing pets, mostly wolf or drakehound. For me, they are the kings. They will handle long enough to not die due empathic bond, both can knock down and overall do decent job in fight against melee or even against group (due to 500 range).
I’m really surprised by this poll. Most likely these are the full zerker warriors – once they fail their 30k dmg combo within 2sec, they can’t do much. And it’s pretty easy to avoid.
In my opinion, warriors are ’’must’’ in team play as long they got ballanced stats. Not 60critical chance with 3.5k attack and 110critical damage. With regen and not being brainless-cannon they are one of the most GG proffessions in several matters. They can tank hell long still dealing 1.5-4k damage
Tbh, that part about ’’weakest’’ proffession shows who plays on which proffession. Seriously, warrior the weakest? Or engi weaker than ranger?
I could stand up for necro, they aren’t really good, tho decent condition burst.
I was expecting something fair and this…. this shows nothing.
Honestly, if you’re not condi, 0-30-30-5-5 is kinda boss.
Thank you. I was actually planning to make topic about it as well.
Since our proffession is 30-50% NPC (I’m talking about pet), food buff should work on it.
That might not be the greatest example, but matter to think of: Mesmer has it’s clones, which, under effect of food, will hit more by detonating each other or something.
If our proffession is PET-ALWAYS, food effect should also work on it.
I use omnomberry pie with precision oil and it would be great to see my pet getting health once a time from it.
Anyway, quite sure this, as many other topics will be ignored by staff. Why would they care about ranger if we got engi for better tank, self buffs and odd conditions, warrior, mesmer, thief for burst while staying mobile and d/d ele with guardian for tanking? Seems they don’t really want to see other proffessions.
They are nowhere near to warriors underwater or mesmers.
Mostly thieves are better too, either in underwater melee as in range.
Arden, compare today’s engineer and ranger, then you will see what we mean. Countless odd conditions, many supportive skills, self-booning, ways to escape, burst – we don’t have any of those. And saying if we don’t like the way it is, we can try other classes isn’t solution. It’s politely saying to ‘’go kitten ourselves’’.
Just adding few boons to traits and skills we already have and boost something (weapon sets, survivabilty) would have huge impact. And THAT would be good START.
(edited by Lert.6287)
You don’t lose Bow DPS! Our strongest SB skill is #1 – Crossfire. Stop lying even here, Daxxter.
with Power/Prec/Condi it isn’t bunker build anymore. You end up having 2.2k armor and 16k health.
With trap/tank build (which is funniest) you basicly don’t use condi items. Knight set and bersekers jewel on trinkets do the rest. Damage is stable and traps are used for AoE damage or partly burst (2 traps at once, with #4 warhorn and shortbow).
I use GS as 2nd set around 1/10 of the time, tho I hope Maul will be blast finished with my trap build (at least could keep perma 3stacks of might then with flame trap).
Skirmishing with traps is awesome. Even without something close to condition build.
I run 0-30-30-5-5 with spike and flame traps.
Skirmishing is – II – VIII – XI
Wilderness is – III – IX – XI (some people might not like III and IX, but basicly, to tank out some, XI – Empathic bond is just ’’must’’).
But berserkers gear isn’t the best choice for it. This build is great, but you have to tank some, and with dual bow and 2k armor, it’d take seconds to kill you.
I run SB (always) and Sword&Warhorn or sometimes Greatsword.
Well, they will boost GS – weapon barely used by rangers and not even requested.
Pretty much for one (unneeded) boost comes 3-5 nerfs, so it’s pretty possible they will nerf something common claiming they just fixed bug.
How they can have any clue about the class they don’t play on?
Simple as that.
So far (overall) I just heard things like ‘’bhoaa, ranger has so many evades’‘. Pretty much that’s it. Sb/S gives us additional evade every few second, but you can’t use evade when you’re dead.
They seriously need to improve few ranger aspects. I just expect some boons I could apply myself (regen, perma 5stacks of might). Without going for certain build (read pets – only 10s/30s) to achieve it and ruin what I got already.
(edited by Lert.6287)
It’s somewhere around 55 minute. But they talk about ranger more/less minute. Basicly they mentioned that they want to do something with LB (damage, maybe increase survivability with it) and with GS #2 – Maul – Increase direct damage with it as well condition damage (in other words, it should do overall tad more damage). They also dropped word about decreasing GS cooldown (if it’s true, pretty sure it will be #4 or/and #5, if not, maybe increase speed of #1 by 10%).
I’m disappointed that they just mentioned about those two weapons. Both rather heavy and slow. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they won’t do anything with any other weapon or anything else to increase our survivability, add boons or boost damage with other weapon/build sets.
