I didn’t realize PvP only players still played. You have a great tenacity.
They call it PvP but it is really just a bunch of people sat in the PvP sub forums crying that everything they can’t auto attack to death is OP.
Look, the PvP players are already messing up the class balancing with their whining, ruining any decent PVE build and stopping the classes on the lower end of PvE usefulness from getting the buffs/fixes they need. Can’t PvEers have some things too?
Dungeons still in monthlies? Not happy
But that is cute.
The tattoos put it as Norn whereas the Dress is an outfit that several NPC humans seem to wear.
You’re walking away? Good. Finally, we, the people who realize that the class is bad and keeps on getting worse, can continue our discussions without you.
Good, I’m glad. ANET wouldn’t listen to you anyways (because they’re professionals and you’re just some stranger writing on some forum no one cares about but us).
Quote from a dev months back I do still believe ranger is the profession in most need of improvement after this patch and we will continue to make those improvements.
Sorry but even the devs disagree with you.
As they have continued to make those improvements, the ranger is no longer the most in need of improvement. Engi and Necro are the most in need, in my opinion.
Necros more in need of improvements than the ranger?
Nice opinion. If only you were right.
Rangers more in need of improvements than the Necro?
Nice opinion. If only you were right.
Lol?
It is. For one Necros unique mechanic provides survivability and some useful stance dancing builds whereas Ranger’s unique mechanic is nothing but a detriment so far causing us to have lower damage and stuff like blast finishers, condition removal and damage tied to a buggy npc that likes to die.
Two Necro can provides tons of support through wells and condition control, Rangers have Call of the Wild and maybe a pets F2 ability with a 3 second cast time to apply 1 boon, if the Ranger can keep it alive.
Three, even though Necro is meant to be the stay in place attrition class they have access to perma swiftness and the same speed increase signet as Ranger allowing them to be much more mobile.
Ranger traits are a much bigger mess then Necros and we have much worse stun breakers.
Charr racial skills are OP especially when on Engineer.
I agree, daily/monthly achievements should be character bound and not account bound. This is alt unfriendly system.
It would be an absolute nightmare to try and get dailies on one character without massive waypoint costs.
The Temple Karma vendors have Exotic Rings / Back / Amulets now.
Should I start complaining that to get 100% map completion I have to go into charr lands? Or to get 100% achievements I have to play the charr story and buy some charr cultural gear? Because I hate charr and I avoid them like the plague.
There’s a bit of a difference there, considering how Laurels are going to be pretty much mandatory if you want any sort of progression in this game and getting 100% map completion on a char is merely for achievements.
Apart from the fact that map completion is mandatory to get legendaries, the only confirmed equipment that will always be boosted up to be best in slot.
And soon achievements will get you laurels too.
They are as mandatory as dailies are.
But you don’t HAVE to do the map completion on a Charr, which you stated you didn’t like. Your argument is now null and void.
You can’t say my argument is null and void because you are incapable of reading. Go learn to read and then come back to read the rest of my post.
To get 100% map completion you have to run through charr zones no matter which race your character is.
To get all achievements you have to play as a charr to do the charr personal story and to get the cultural armour.
Charr zones = about 2 or 3 which are easily doable anywhere from 2-3 hours.
You were saying you didn’t like Charr zones OR the charr story maybe you’re the one who’s incapable of reading. You do NOT need to be a Charr to get 100% map completion, the achievements are for show, that’s it. Laurels will be mandatory if you want to progress.
Serious question, do you have problems reading? It is nothing to be embarrassed about, I’m sure you have a valid reason for these difficulties.
Yes the Charr zones can be rushed through and done quickly but so can the new dailies.
Yes you did need to make a charr if you want to get all the achievements and soon achievements will give out laurels making them as mandatory as dailies are.
Nobody has said anything about having to make a charr to get 100% map completion.
There is already another way outside of laurels to get ascended gear and there will be more.
Should I start complaining that to get 100% map completion I have to go into charr lands? Or to get 100% achievements I have to play the charr story and buy some charr cultural gear? Because I hate charr and I avoid them like the plague.

I agree that the new system was completely not needed.
In fact it destroys my sense of accomplishment and enjoyment. Because it tries to force me to play the game in ways that are not of my choosing. For example: today it wants me to do so much crafting (when I need to gather more materials); and/or it wants me to kill so many underwater critters (not really sure if it wants some of both or it I’d have to do massive quantities of just one to get the achievement?). So what if I don’t want to kill underwater stuff? Seriously I did that yesterday and today I’m not interested.
So NOW you’re going to penalize us (and not being able to get the achievement is a “penalty”) arbitrarily because we aren’t doing what you want, when you want it done. Who’s brilliant Idea was that?
Can you read what you are writing? Can you actually see that? With the exception of the combo one which appears to be broken (but I still got it anyway) these aren’t any more outlandish then the dailies have always been. 15 different kinds of enemies? What if your character is in Orr and doesn’t want to teleport to other zones? 20 gathering materials? What if you had a high level character running through a low level zone with absolutely no use for iron ore and not wanting to waste your Ori pick axe on it?
Would you prefer to just get a free laurel daily? You can just go away for 30 days and then come back to chose your ascended amulet it will be great.
Should I start complaining that to get 100% map completion I have to go into charr lands? Or to get 100% achievements I have to play the charr story and buy some charr cultural gear? Because I hate charr and I avoid them like the plague.

Yep. Lost 2 hours worth of work.
ANet needs to get a clue or get out of the MMO business imho.
oh COME ON. it’s been the same kitten time FOREVER.
It was two dailies on the same day. One with the old system, one with the new system. Given the insane value of they daily reward at this point (and the buggy nature of “yesterday’s” daily combo kills), this a slight kick in the balls for people who didn’t complete it.
Enjoy your free laurel for the people who got it, everyone else is one day behind.
Hey guys I am going on holiday tomorrow for a week.
I can’t believe Anet would kick me in the balls like that and just give 7 free laurels to everybody but me!
Should I start complaining that to get 100% map completion I have to go into charr lands? Or to get 100% achievements I have to play the charr story and buy some charr cultural gear? Because I hate charr and I avoid them like the plague.
One of the few useful things about pets have been nerfed hard with this change. They might as well just replace them with a 2 second quickness skill on 15 sec cooldown as our class mechnic.
It appears Illusion of Drowning no longer reflects your projectiles back at you which is nice.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the PvP forums start complaining about our underwater bleed stacking ability now though. Mesmers can’t have nice things.
Just discovered this and came to post it. I was expecting them to remove confusion at some point and do nothing to replace it so getting bleed is nice.
Should be in patch notes though.
They made The Dreamer even worse? Glad I don’t use a shortbow on anything.
Will have to try this out, might go back to a trap build for PvE.
Which line are we talking about?
Anything that stops Charr being pushed down our throat as the GW2 mascot is fine by me.
I wanted the last nerf to shattered Strength to be reverted in PvE and some run speed increases.
But I expected Mind Wrack/iBerserker/Time warp nerf.
So overall I guess I am happy. It at least puts the nerfs off for another month.
Messing up the legendary shortbow.
I…I don’t understand what you mean.
How did I not know about this? Going to have to join in on those temple runs.
Because unimaginative people think the only new content that are worth playing in MMOs is obscene grinds for +1 gear so you can fight the new plus +1 monsters.
Somehow to them that +1 makes it new and interesting.

Can we have a plush griffon backpack now?
I like how Mesmers keep getting lumped in with Warriors and Guardians as top tier just because people can’t be bothered to learn how to defeat them in sPvP. Willing 2 buy a PvP/PvE split please.
Either way Ranger is the class that still needs the most work.
I actually love playing my 80 mesmer more than any of my other professions. It’s not only a capable profession with a number of viable builds, but it’s fun, if you learn how to play one well. (I tried Mesmer in the final beta and hated it. Gaining experience in playing the game in general, with three other professions to level 80 and four other professions to various levels before starting my current Mesmer, really prepared me to play the profession. I had no problems leveling up and the profession is a blast at 80. For me anyway).
I do agree on PvE/PvP split on skills that have always been fine in PvE, but have been deemed “broken” for PvP.
Stop the PvP-related nerfs to the PvE profession and I think I could say that, for me, Mesmer is one of the best designed, fun to play professions.
BTW, capable doesn’t always mean fun-to-play. Guardian is very capable, but it can be pretty boring. I never had problems accomplishing things with my Necro, but that’s another very boring profession. Getting the professions that really need work development priority is something I agree with, but a number of professions could use some tweaking, at some point, to make them more fun to pay.
once the shine starts to wear off the clones and “omg clothie with a greatsword” concepts, mesmer is pretty boring too.
-mantras are to mesmers what elixir gun is to engineers.
-the only engaging group support spec introduced was nerfed to bejesus and back over an unrelated bug causing 200% mind wrack damage.
-the profession’s defensive cooldowns and summons can be blocked, blinded, or dodged, and their boon-radiation traits require you to plant them up the keister of your buddies.
Very, very, VERY survivable due to arbitrary and continuous summon of HP-and-aggro proxies, but once the gimmicks become old hat, you’re left with two real builds for pve:
the projectile reflect boon strip support build, and the shattercat build. (condition is a curiosity, but clumsy)
All true, plus the fact we are the slowest class in the game and it has become even worse since the buffs to movement signets.
But because the skill level of the general PvP player is low and we have Portal, Mesmers have got a reputation for being some god tier OP class and that reputation has somehow seeped over to PvE even though it is the worst class in open world PvE and only brought to dungeons for boon stripping/portal/Time Warp.
Of course the fridge horror of this is that technically in the real world it would be the equivalent of having a Baby Human backpack, what with Quaggan’s being intelligent and all.
Of course you should be able to run faster then 33%, otherwise what would be the point of the Trait? I think max run speed is capped at 50%. If the runes of speed would work, warrior’s could run at 50% speed when traited.
The point of the trait is to move 10% faster when you don’t have swiftness.
Rangers are the worst class for dungeons, only just a step above useless. If they are refusing your Necro then they will be laughing at your Ranger.
Only a Mesmer can have to jump through hoops to do the most basic things and still be considered OP.

Why report him for scamming? What would…I don’t even know…
What makes you think because they spread Portal around you deserve something else to make up for it?
Because your second line isn’t true and is just a lie spread by bad PvP players when in the actual game Mesmer are quite deficient in a number of ways (speed buffs, build variety, bugs, traits, DE tagging etc).
Rofl..Oh you’re right…Everyone just thinks Mesmer’s are just awful, except the few vocal bad pvpers grin
My personal favorite part of your post is how you’re deficient in basically what every other class is deficient in lol
Yeah because I said Mesmers were awful. Can you read?
Every class is deficient in those? Lets see
Speed – Every class except Mesmer has perma swiftness or close enough or a 25% speed signet. Or both. And then maybe some 600-1200 leaps as well.
Bugs – True every class has them. Mesmer is the only class where every time somebody asks for one to be fixed they get greeted with some variation of ‘shut up noob Mesmer is OP and you want buffs lol’
Bad traits – A few classes share this problem but see my comment about bugs.
Build variety – All classes could use more but Mesmers have shatter and maybe confusion based stuff in small fights in WvWvW. The only class with the same or less is Ranger who has traps and maybe a beastmaster in open PvE. See comments on bugs for what happens when Mesmer asks for buffs to fix this.
DE Tagging – Nope this is purely a Mesmer problem, the only time a other class has it is in extreme cases like the Lost Shore event.
What makes you think because they spread Portal around you deserve something else to make up for it?

If there’s nerfs though, I seriously will cry.
Traps are getting nerfed.
So you think, just because they said AoE are getting nerfed without specifics on WHICH parts…
Well apparently using AoEs to try and stop reviving is bad (I dunno I am guessing more PvP players whining) then yeah sounds like traps.
I’d say the only malchor’s needs changing, Cursed Shore is fine but probably because there are always people around and straits just needs to sort out the Balthazar event to get people back in there. Malchor’s is just horrible though, waypoints becoming contested every 2 seconds, skill points guarded by champions and nobody there.
2 or 5.
We will need a new utility skill anyway if other classes are getting extra.
But those are 3 of the worst classes in PvE.
Hopefully giving portal to other classes will appease the PvP whiners (it won’t) and stop them from using it as an excuse for why Mesmer shouldn’t have any bugs fixed or under powered areas buffed (it won’t).
Also what is wrong with throwing aoe on people trying to res?
I’ll put this here as well as this seems to be the only board that gets listened to by the devs.
I hope this goes through so finally people can stop whining and using Portal as an excuse for why Mesmers shouldn’t have obvious sub par/unbalanced areas buffed up to be on par with other classes. Scrap Moa and put something useful in its place as well.
Though we should get a new skill to match the number of skills to the other classes that will get Portal added.
Another PvP whine making them do changes that aren’t needed. That said I hope this goes through so finally people can stop whining and using Portal as an excuse for why Mesmers shouldn’t have obvious sub par/unbalanced areas buffed up to be on par with other classes.

Massive step back from GW1 and makes guesting completely pointless.
No guesting on different regions servers? Guess guesting is totally useless then, was really looking forward to this as well.
Another big step back from GW1.
As long as it is introduced at the same time as guesting (which it is going to be) then their is nothing wrong with this, unless you are one of those band wagon jumpers always trying to get a free ride in WvWvW.
I’m still hoping that they do some balancing to the racial skills, humans in particular are pretty sub par compared to other races and don’t even add any flavour which is supposed to be the point of them.
Also the engineers F1-4 racials skills can be pretty OP compared to the rest.
Sounds great, can’t wait to find out more about the achievement/tokens system, hopefully new skins include new armours too. Guesting means I can finally start doing dungeons regularly.
If I had to make one complaint it is no talk of PvE/PvP skill split to stop the PvP whiners from ruining the fun in thee rest of the game but everything else sounds great.
