Why not server merges, than? That would make more sense than completely destroying the concept of servers.
It always did baffle me why they don’t do this, not just in GW2, but in lots MMOs. Though I figure it’s got a lot to do with server identities, much like how we lost a lot of that identity when megaservers hit.

i would thoroughly enjoy more than seasonal content. every time i hear about a patch i get like a kid a xmas hoping it’s things that the classes i play need badly
The game needs a 3rd Heavy Armor class. As of now, there are 2 Heavy Armor Classes, 3 Medium, and 3 Light. Out of these armor categories, there exists 2 classes which do not use weapon swapping – Elementalist and Engineer. They instead swap elemental status or kits. So if we are to add a third Heavy Armor class, it should be a class that specializes with a singular weapon at any time, with its own unique approach.
Let us say this class has 3 Stances it channels between at any time. Activating 1-3 delivers plain attacks dependent on the weapon held. However, Hitting 4 or 5 will still do an attack but will also snap the character into a different stance associated with the 4 or 5 – thereby changing all the 1-5 skills. Think of the character behaving as one of those characters from a fighting game who has various stances. You can also manually swap your stance using F1, F2, and F3, but switching stances that way will be slow (but defensive, ally boosting).
Any thoughts on this?
or you could make the stances perform exactly like elementalist’s attunements. making your idea 100x simpler, but still just as good. let them use all 2 handed weapons only, or something. greatsword, hammer, staff, bow. hopefully the introduction of scythe. (lol still more weapons than engineer gets) call it dark templar or something. idk.
i’m just having trouble doing it the first time and i’ve been playing since august 2012. isn’t that funny? been playing since 2012 and i’m just starting to touch pve content. curse of the legendary i guess.
found this little gem on youtube while searching ‘guardian golfing’ i’m convinced this is the proper way to use this weapon.
i can tell you that my incredibly random personality helps me enjoy this class. in wvw i’m an absolute madman, helping or hindering my own allies lol. i can tell you, you have to be very committed to the class to be good at it, much more so than almost all of the other ones.
yes we’re missing some essential ingredients to a successful class(damage avoidance, control avoidance, melee cleave, 1200 ranged power) but we have a lot of other things. like ‘sniping.’ death shroud dps is insane at sub-600, and still good at 900+(sniping!) nobody really expects a necro to nuke 6 players by him/herself, yet i’ve done it and come out smelling like a rose.
i don’t think necro should have any group support options at all outside of people blasting WoP. self support(attrition anyone? where is it?) however, is apparently essential to necromancer, yet i’ve never heard of anyone surviving two hambows with life siphons.

i don’t need another 60 skins to ignore, i need guild halls, more skills/weapons, and something to look to after zhaitan was defeated.
GW2 has a leg up on quite a few MMO’s for combat, but in my mind, D3 (strictly in terms of combat) flows much nicer. It is more kinetic. It is faster paced. Skills fire off rapidly, and resources recharge quickly.
GW2 feels just a little too much like old style MMO combat – but I think they could easily ramp this up, and make it more actiony, if they tried to.
One thing would be to remove tab targeting completely – maybe replace it with a mouse auto-lock, kinda like in DDO (but more accurate and responsive than in that game). Of course, most skills would have to be rebalanced around a more FPS style of combat – but this would be a good thing.
D3 isn’t really a comparison, as combat is focused on killing as many enemies as possible as fast as possible, and centered around the mouse. but i do agree they could learn a bit from TERA.
while reading a review for TESO, i found this:

isn’t that strange? a game like the elder scrolls online can’t hold a flame to GW2’s dynamic combat. i have a ton of trouble going back to other games(although i do when i get bored, or my morale in wvw is exhausted) i simply can’t get back into other games where i cannot cast while moving.
i just want the scythe. we need more weapons. could just give scythe to guardian/necro and on the guardian you’d have your dervish. and i’d get my melee cleave on my necromancer.
press random buttons and watch things die.
In WvW I have about 15k because of bonuses.
Edit: Besides, I see a lot of newer thieves with only 2.2k armor and full zerker, I’m just trying to help them out and for those that don’t know about the tankier gear setup. I’m aware that a lot of thieves already do this. It still can’t hurt to give out this setup.
i have 2.6k armor, 18+k hp with no bonuses on my thief. i still am able to nuke. and i don’t even use d/d when i throw a dagger on my mainhand it’s for the lulz of a 5k+ backstab

considering that necromancer can hit 4k on an auto attack(daggers) we should be pretty high up there too.
but that’s single target, necros can also auto attack with life blast for about 7k which pierces, but sometimes stacked enemies don’t get pierced right.
EDIT: necro dps is actually pretty good, but again, lack of a cleave hurts them. But for like fractals, where the most of it is spent against one boss at a time, I would reckon they’d be valuable there.

The queens pavilion champs don’t show much intelligence. They have some tricky abilities, but they don’t react to players at all.

i disagree completely. with all the pulls and mobility engineer has, theres no reason the auto attack can’t be turned into something like a shrapnel burst. i’m never in 1000+ range for long with my rifle, if you are, you’re not doing something right. notice i said nothing about reducing the range of net shot. i could see the range of auto attack being reduced to 800 and it will get a damage boost if that’s the case. if guardian’s staff#1 can function with a 600 ranged auto attack i think our rifle can too. i don’t even use nades, which is funny that you’re using that as an argument. i think my setup is proof that 1000+ range isn’t necessary.
It depends on who you’re fighting. If you’re dueling a d/p thief, you don’t need a ton of range or gap closing abilities—they’ll come to you. If you’re fighting a p/d thief, it will be different. Engineer only has one pull, and zero targeted gap closers, although rocket boots and jump shot can both be used to close distance.
800 range with a damage boost would probably be a decent trade-off. But I wouldn’t want to see it go any lower than that. Guardian staff is a lot more like engineer flamethrower actually, except with longer range and less retal punishment. I’m not complaining because engineer rifle is a great weapon, and back on topic, OC is an incredibly powerful skill. But trust me, it really needs the ranged auto.
In a Celestial build, you can pretty much replace Hip Shot with Tranquilizer dart. It’s nice.
Rifle as a stand-alone though would not function without a long range auto, correct.

Right, because guardians in WvW running zero DPS builds and warriors with their base health being higher being able to run zero + 1 DPS builds clearly means warriors damage > guardians.
In a situation where a warrior and guardian are both built for damage and have identical buffs, guardian > warrior.
can’t say i’ve ever lost to a zerk dps guardian. zerk dps hammerhealscrub warrior however..

only a wvw player knows the pain of fighting a 1v1 and having either 6 friendly players or 6 enemies come in and ruin it.
Engineer is still a low population class BUT recently in relative terms there are quite a number of new engineers I see (often veteran players now rolling a new engineer).
What is the reason for the increased popularity on your server (if there is such an increase)?
1. Commanders getting a sense of abilities in a zerg?
2. Familiarity built from Spvp and the decap engineer?
3. Just needing something different?
etc.The skills and utility we bring to any game aspect really hasn’t changed much. What are people seeing now in the engineer that they were not seeing about our class say even 3 months ago?
spvp popularity. before people figured out how to play it in spvp, i would run into maybe 1-2 a day in wvw. yes there’s a connection.

Ranger’s Greatsword only works at close range, it deals very low damage at larger range. How is that not an issue but the inverse is for the Longbow?you dont need larger range damage ( hi GS #4 ), you have a 1200 leap to smash bow users face, .

i think it’s fine. however, the autoattack has no synergy with the rest of the skills.
The auto has massive synergy with the rest of the rifle and other kit skills. It is literally our only direct damage >600 range attack for PvP (not counting grenades because they’re not effective at over 600 range in PvP). Our other ranged attacks are EG 1, pistol 1 and 3, and magnet.
That’s it. That’s all of the ranged attacks. Without a ranged rifle auto, power engi would be completely unplayable.

I was playing on my rifle engineer the other day and got to think of the skill “Overcharged shot”. It launches you and your foe backward. And I was thinking it might be a bit too punnishing for the engineer him/herself, in my opinion, to have to use a stun breaker in order to take full use of the knock back.
I’m not sure if it would be considered op to remove the knock back or not but as it is right now it’s risky in a fight with more than one person as it’s a free stun on myself.
Any comments on this?
i think it’s fine. however, the autoattack has no synergy with the rest of the skills.
A huge issue with the ranger’s longbow and mesmer’s greatsword is that their auto-attack damage is based off the range to the target. The design of these skills rewards and encourages poor group etiquette, expecting the player distance themselves from enemies and allies in order to maximize their damage, which also puts them out of range of support skills and generally supports poor positioning.
Players should not be encouraged to keep distance to deal damage, but instead be encouraged to use whatever distance is best suited for the environment. Keeping distance, or sticking close to the target, should be enough of a reward in itself through the mechanics of the encounter; we don’t need mechanics which make the player feel forced to keep huge distances no matter the situation.
Please get rid of this ridiculous mechanic, at least in PvE where it plays no positive role.
sorry, what? are you one of those rangers that sits in a boss’s face and just pewpews all day? while i agree that longbow needs some huge attention from arenanet(bow sniping is why i wanted to play ranger) this is one part of the weapon i don’t see as a problem.
PU Mesmers do well in roaming too but god kills a kitten for every Mesmer that rolls PU. It’s an awfully cheesy, low-risk build to play and I detest anyone that does.
So because something works and is easy for new players to get into PvP and have fun, you dislike it and call it cheesy? Seriously dude, don’t be such a elitist. Hell, if you take that stance, I assume you also say Anyone who plays a Thief in WvW and PvP with pistol/dagger and perma stealth is cheesy*

honestly, one of the things holding all the classes back, is warrior’s insane access to so many weapons. it makes it so much harder to balance the other classes.

So yesterday Chaos Gun prices were roughly 744g. Today less than 24hrs later they’re at 1099g. I was told by a fellow guildie a few hour prior that they were nearly at 1.5k.
I’m just flabbergasted by the prices. I mean yes I understand there will always be a demand for them, especially now that legendaries are account bound. But going from 300-400g doubling in price then yet again. It feels more like market manipulation than anything. I’m pretty sure everyone didn’t wake up today and went out to buy a Chaos Gun. I’ve been watching the price waiting for the prices to stabilize after April 15th, sadly it has yet to happen all I see is prices keep rising.
By the time you save up to buy it at that ridiculous price it will triple in price putting it out of reach yet again. Just wondering if this is happening across all the precursors, I’m sure it is but why this ridiculous inflation over such little time span?

okay, counter argument. skyrim mods that show nearly everything on female characters. to me that says desperation. different argument for another time.
99% of players with a light armored male character seconds this, truly ._. I’m fed-up to use human T2 for every character -.-
the problem with mmo’s, is that when they say light armor (more often than not in my experience) they mean robes. forgetting that many mages in other rpg games could access actual light armor, like chainmail, glass, scale, etc. or d&d’s warlock(necro) could use leather armor and some scale. i hate that light armor means cloth. at the very least, make light armor look like armor.
the only time i’ve found light armor that looks like anything protective is drybones pauldrons/gloves, soul of koda, and path of koda.
i’m honestly not sure why something like death nova isn’t a death shroud skill. cause an explosion of death magic, dealing damage, more per each condition?
but yes, we need more weapons. i’m hoping on greatsword. something to give us mobility, anything :/
