Not that I believe we’ll ever get to use heavy armor but these asuran heavy armor skins ‘d look pretty sweet on my engineer. I’m using a mix of the T2 and T3 medium asuran culutral sets. Those are the only ones that are made of an high amount of iron instead of leather in that armor class and are looking like they were especially made for engineers.
I’d love to see more medium armor skins that are in favor of our class.

i’m honestly wondering why Engineer isn’t heavy armor. especially knowing how close you have to be with almost all weapon skills. plus it’s pretty annoying seeing NPCs in heavy armor using a pistol and shield.

We won last week by a landslide, and I felt the same way. My posts reflected the same feelings too. Winning, or losing with superior numbers is not fun, and any mature individual would understand.

I can’t speak for ET, but as a HoD player, well, beating us is not anything special.
I looked up scores from previous matches from http://mos.millenium.org/matchups and the furthest back they have match scores, the oct13 match, we lost 154k to 346k. Every other match since then, the wining team has had no less than six times our score, thirty six times in the worst case. That is over two months of pure utter crushing defeat, and an unbalanced broken WvW.
We’ve been bleeding players every single week in part due to the poor morale and terrible match balance. You can call them fair weather players, but I simply cannot blame anyone who leaves looking for a functional, playable WvW match. We feel it impacts the rest of the game, in poor PvE bonuses, and from a lower population, but the true impact is hard to gauge.
I was hoping our race to the bottom had ended, but alas. Maybe when we finally hit rock bottom, we’ll have a halfway decent match, maybe I’ll actually be able to see us take and hold something substantial off our borderlands.
I’m pretty sure the masses who were going to leave, have left. It’s down to the brass tacks now man and those of us who are actively out there fighting have pretty high moral. We know the only thing counted against us in numbers and can aquit ourselves well in battle until we’re eventually overun by the waves and waves of folks sent against us. I doubt we drop into the final tier, if only because they are evenly matched and we’re still slightly better then them. One of the T6 servers will have their own exodus and end up sharing T7 with us and then we’ll have the more even matches. Until then… well we can just keep fighting as well as we can.

this would interesting but i think it would mean charr engineers would be more asked for in almost every aspect of the game. while the asura may be more interested in forward thinking ideals, the charr are obviously walking war machines.
what weapon would the asura branch of the class use?

this could work really well as almost everything in the game has a sheath or holster of some sort.
obviously, sheath for bladed weapons(something different for axes naturally) and holster for gun weapons, and a quiver for bow weapons. both slots would be available.

A build I used in pve and wvw that gave me high damage was rifle, grenade kit, rocket turret. Elixir H and B. Traits were 20/30/0/0/20. I also would swap that for 15/25/0/10/20 giving me a bit more survival in wvw. I found that the elite mortar didnt give me the range I wanted and the charrzooka was ok, but I really play the supply drop mainly. Artillery barrage was disappointing. My style of play was more defense oriented in wvw – seige monkey.
artillery barrage is a really great combo for when you use elixir S, nice at dropping sieges too.

if you are having problems using rifle effectively, you’re not doing it right. rifle is a close range weapon on a class i expected to be long range. as soon as you get around that stereotype, you find ways to make rifle work(better) as well as pistols.
shield’s cooldowns are far too long to be battle-changers, even with the 20% CD reduction. pistols are condition oriented and rifle is base damage. you will hit very hard with blunderbuss(please rename it buckshot or something)

i also find it a bit odd(just odd, not a gripe) that a class tankier than Eng(supposedly) is using the long range rifle skills instead of Engineer. i enjoy eng rifle i just think it’s weird.

GOM here. I knew this matchup would be like this. GOM has apparently has alot of fair weather players, that dont help us when we actually need the numbers. I dont PVE all i do is PVP and this matchup is stupid. Im not even really playing this week because it is so boring. And the worst part is we should not have droped in tier if we have these numbers.
And too all the GOM players, Please quit your bragging of how good we are and that we a back. Gom still needs alot of work.
GOM needs nothing but dedication and common sense. and some numbers. anything beyond that is trying a bit hard.

DS is one of my favorite thief skills to run into actually. especially being a sword/focus mesmer. most of them are the try hards that think they’re invulnerable so i just port to them and blurred frenzy them down in 4 hits while remaining untouched.

Oh Here we go. Just like in every match up that is one sided. While I am sure your plans did help and all that jazz, to take and hold almost all the maps? I’m sorry that is not out playing that is flat out out numbering.
Also I have a hard time saying GOM out played anyone when from the start of the match when GOM took SM, HOD out played us in every way possible for the next hour to take it from us. Heck at one point as the invading force HOD had more sieges built in SM in 10 minutes then we had built in the whole hour we held it.
Now don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to insult anyone, like i said I’m sure your plans helped and it never hurts to have leaders and people moving in the same direction. But you don’t get the maps to where they are now all of them 100-80% blue without a large numbers advantage.

this is what always confused me about pve only players:
zhaitan doesn’t care if you’re shiny or not, but your server could use the help. i’ve said that sentence to one or two major pve guild leaders and what i got back was ’we’d rather pve’
the point is you’re going to have to make them believe being from GoM is different than being from JQ or something.

i’m also wondering why the bola shot isn’t a double-effect skill. as in: fire to immobilize your foe, press 2 again to detonate and burn your foe.
i’ve got some shell ideas but i’d like for the community to contribute a lot to this thread too, if possible. these shells would be kits, of course. equip slugs, buckshot, by pressing 7 8 or 9, etc

ROFLAMO yes when you lost 30% of your main pvpers on Gom we will outnumber you. Yes we do enjoy it who wouldnt? We have more people in PVP Again due to more PVE’ERS joining in. We have something called LEADERS and people who enjoy Small group raiding. Thats how we have the whole map and a thing called home land defense.

Basically what your seeing in a comulative effect of several things! An alliance that works together, a few more people, We were concentrating our numbers on BP, now we are concentrating them on you, we are getting more organized, and playing smarter.

Anvil Rock is about 2 or 3 medium sized guilds for a night crew from being pretty good. We could also use a few more primetime guilds as well, ID like to run a few dungeons :-P
BTW you GOM and ET guys that play WvW and want to be apart of a good alliance that works together, should look at Anvil Rock. The allaince is already set up and we already have a server wide TS. Also there is a decent possibilty that Anvil Rock is going to face BP next week and we are going to need the help!
An alliance makes a difference. I could easily dig around in the old threads with BP and pull up the same story, but I hope that you get the point.
i’m sure it wasn’t the fact that a lot of GoM guilds left for them. periodically, of course. whatever, no use arguing over why a zerg server stomped us.

Yeah, this is exactly why I didn’t release the 40 golem zerg. No way I would do that to ET or GoM. Much respect for servers that are taking hits. AR has been getting beat on for a long time.

Sounds reasonable. I don’t suppose there are folks in CC who would take up leadership responsibility, not in the form of an alliance, but in general to help improve our server’s organization? Getting out the names of leaders who people trust is a big step in the right direction. I.e. “Hey Korvus Mindbend is on, let’s see if he needs our guild to do something.”
i wouldn’t object to that, but it’s really just me. only one with a heavy presence in wvw at least.

Lightsbane I’d like to get your take on the concept of organized leadership. You seem to be advocating no kind of organizational structure under the assumption that smaller disjoint groups will successfully coordinate as a whole, and that individuals will reach out in order to improve their own personal efficiency. I’d argue that hasn’t worked so far, but that is neither here nor there.
What I want to know is, what do you propose as an alternative to alliances, and how does that alternative produces results?

Quite frankly, we SHOULD be trying to build an alliance. Just because two alliances flopped before does not make it a bad idea, it just means that it is not easy.
I agree with lightsbane, alliances often get it wrong. The goal is not to have a “commander in chief” issuing orders to the entire server. That misses the entire point. This is a volunteer organization. You cannot lead by authority, you have to lead through encouragement and inspiration.
A good alliance should do the following:
- Build Community
- Train new players
- Recruit PvE players for WvW
- Offer a means for donating resources to the cause
- Voice Chat
- Server Forum (including PvE resources, we want PvE people involved too, that is how we recruit them)
- Commander Schedule Signup (so we can have maximum commander up-time.)
- Guild Claiming Signup (so we can take best advantage of guild buffs)
- Enforce a simple code of conduct (no hacking, no drama, etc)
- Build Morale!!!
An alliance like this does not even need a leader, it really just needs a manager. This sort of alliance does not demand that people participate, but instead if offers benefits to the community, which encourages people to volunteer and participate.
This biggest thing an alliance like this needs is support, support from guilds and commanders, to get it off the ground. So the big question is: Are people willing support it?
If so, then we cant start talking details.
notice: none of those things listed require an ‘alliance’ if you want to work with a guild, and that guild is larger than your own, politely ask them to join their voice chat program.

it’s never the threads that flop, it’s the guilds that flip(leave) just don’t bother. this will be the third proposed GoM ‘alliance’
each misses this point: you are on a server and you’ll be on GoM’s side every time you go into WvW until you switch servers, so why the pointless formality of an ‘alliance’ when the entirety of the people in wvw want to win it? an alliance on top of an alliance?
by the way, each ‘alliance’ was more like a dictatorship, if i disagree with something you say i’m not doing it, i’ll work with you but i’m not joining some ‘allianceception’ to do it.

For as long as sword auto-roots you, it’s essentially useless, and for as long as the greatsword has the damage of a wet towel, that too will remain useless.
If you don’t want to use bows, you’re far better off with axes.
it’s amazing that no one complaining about this thought to turn off auto attack. i feel like i’m the only ranger player not having this problem.

i like the guild skin a lot actually. looks a lot like the model 1887. however i think shotgun should be a weapon type unto itself. in my experience eng is one of the most bugged class so …it needs some kind of buff.

Nice video Xorus but that just shows how lame at some ways GW2 PVP is. It is not at all skill based pvp you just have to pick Op skills + class and you are golden. Lack of balance in PVP oriented game is a bit strange, i dont understand why Anet neglect this problem. Btw could you post video were you dont use PI, thx.

thief is overpowered until it runs into something it can’t scratch without help. a vast majority of thieves hit my engineer for less than i hit them, and that’s a very bad thing for glass thieves.

I noticed GoM had a Anet guy running with their zerg tonight at SM….
that’s happened once before, coincidentally(probably not) was at a time when GoM was also against a server that overwhelmingly outnumbered us. Ehmry Bay i believe.

the few original GoM players that are left(if there are more of you out there, you’re probably feeling this way) are so demoralized after seeing our population diminish constantly, every week we seem to have less GoMs and more of whatever enemy team. AR’s numbers seem to have bloody tripled not even borlis pass was able to attack our garrison at ten minute intervals with a 40 deep mob. world transfers need to stop. you need to do something about this arenanet. anvil rock is living proof especially of this, as their biggest guild is from OUR server.

you guys seemed to do it for the lulz, whereas us GoM players were yelling at the golem operators to stay in one place and they just didn’t, so they rushed the oil. you unfortunately learn a lot about human psychology from this game.

Probably one of the reasons that battle took longer than expected, my group was a chunk of that third push you’re talking about(I can only assume). We only showed up after we made sure all our other objectives were being upgraded. As we were running by on the lower end of the cliff I was wondering wtf allied dots and even enemy downed marks were doing at the base of the cliff :P
dude i laughed for 20 minutes straight lol 6 exp markers at once xD(for further reference, try to be less predictable with your siege set up when i saw it was under attack again i knew exactly where to go and there you were)

Others do it too brother, and it is just that much easier on a Thief. I have 4 80s; Ranger, Warrior, Guardian, and a Thief. When I get on my Thief, it is a world of difference, and I can enter into a massive fight, and come out with 30-50 badges of honor.
It seems the second I steatlh, no one can see me for minutes from that point on, I just wade through, and pick my kills. Every now and then throwing one Cloak and Dagger if I start to take damage.
I can not do that on any of my other toons, because they can be targeted. This game has some of the worst rendering I’ve seen in any PvP game, second only to Aion, which oddly enough was created by the same people.
I have an extremely fast computer, and even I’ve seen issues where the opposing zerg did not show up on my screen until I was in thier midst. I waded in thinking I saw only a couple groups, and found out there were probably 50 there. On my other toons, they die in this situation, but on my Thief, I stealth, and get a lot of badges.
Aion and Guild Wars are not developed by the same people (just same publisher). Culling is client side and is completely unrelated to how good your computer is.
