what i’m waiting for is to make being on one world different than being on another. right now i’m not sure what makes wvw players on one server different than wvw players on another.
i’d ask this question especially to pve players.
why not be original and do it with axes? works especially with the +range on the offhand skills trait. path of scars hits hard, especially so because it’s a linear aoe.
It’s not really scientific but the comparison is something like this:
a glass cannon build for an Elementalist is doing 1200-1500 normal damage /3100+ critical.
a glass cannon build for an Ranger is doing 1500 normal damage/3000+ critical damage
a glass cannon Grenadier build for an Engineer is doing normal damage of 1000-1300 / critical damage of 1400-2400
I don’t know much about the other classes, but for Rangers, you’re slightly off. I’ve played them since release, almost to the exclusion of everything else.
Yes, Rangers can hit for 1.5k normal, but only with the long bow with its horrendous attack speed. And you can also hit for much higher than 3k with as well. Once again with the long bow. However, that’s with Rapid Fire which in on a 10s cooldown.
More realistic numbers would be:
Shortbow: 500 base 1.5k crit
Longbow: 1k base 2-3k crit
Sword: 600 base 1k critThe main strength of Ranger dps is that most of it is low damage high attack speed.
if you’re telling me that most of the long range damage ranger has is from the short bow, you’re playing the class wrong. in fact, i’d wager that the off hand axe throw does about the same damage on crits as both …wait a minute, short bow’s damage mostly comes from the auto attack. it will never be as good as longbow.
but as far as them being stronger than engineers, yes, they are.
shameless bump. i think it could bring a lot of life into the cities instead of just being their to look for groups and craft.

No and no.
Top servers don’t need to “only” zerg to win. We (SoR) being 5-10 of us just defended a tower that was not upgraded against a 40-50 man zerg. Top servers understand that well placed siege and tactics can make anything possible.
Also, zerging is a very big mistake as well, because you leave EVERYTHING undefended for the most part. Unless you leave a few people at each place that you cap.
back in the early days, GOM faced Jade Quarry 3 weeks in a row. we got freaking stomped. their numbers were consistently two or three times that of ours. on top of regular transfers off of gate of madness(which has been happening almost every consecutive rematch) it makes being outnumbered a legitimate gripe. further proof: our matches against eredon’s terrace and similar deserted wvw servers. we won those matchups by numbers alone.
but can i really blame people that transfer? we lose so much that i can hardly blame them
eventually groaning about numbers will stop being a ‘stop complaining’ and become ‘you might have a point there’

Have you changed your build at all since the patch? Also, what sigil for the rifle did you pick?

War. but the issue here is not, their rifle being better then ours. its NOT. ours is better then theirs. The issue is they can spam 17 stacks of might with ease, and then fire a 20k killshot. wait for CD’s (which is only like 20s) and do it again.

You hit average of 15 – 20k with it and with their updated Healing Surge It refills their Adrenaline 3 stacks

The might stacking isn’t 10s. Kill shot without 14+stacks of might is more like 8k crit.
Throw wrench is plenty ranged burst.

signet of might 5 stacks of might, 10s duration 20s cd traited.
signet of rage 5 stacks of might, fury/swiftness 30s druation 48 CD.
1 stack on weapon swap every 5s.
Could banner for more power, but huge cd, or just signet for prec.
sigil of battle can give +6, and/or bloodlust for +250 power.
This is where all the damage is coming from.

Lately it’s reminding me of Flyff. I pumped cash into that rubbish for months. You know what stopped me pumping cash into that bottomless pit? Guild Wars. Now GW2 is becoming the anti of what weaned me off that type of garbage in the first place.

wouldn’t it be interesting to see an entire district of lion’s arch or every major city devoted to guild wares? (lolguildwares2) since the inventory for the shop is already set up through guild menu tabs…why not take it a step further? maybe even make it a guild upgrade?
i’m not sure about anyone else, but being part of merchant guilds has always been one of my favorite things about mmos. since the BLTP is the only way to sell your wares, it’s impossible for this type of guild to exist, since you cannot interact with the people who buy your wares. someone who buys something anonymously has no reason to buy something from you or someone else. the game is called guild wars, war is competition, more specifically among guilds, at least in this game.

EXACTLY, I completely agree. I really disliked kits with maybe the exception of med kit so i run a pure rifle build. damage is very very bad, and survivability has a lot to do with running in circles with medkits .
Lightsbane, if engis and warrior skills swap, warrior would be way too op with that much cc; since they ARE able to switch weps.
well sure, just get rid of the net shot since they already have a bola. let us keep the knockback shot, meh.
The #2 spell is nice on bosses for cc. Also if you want to hit a few skillshots, like grenades.
The #5 spell is good for mobility, if any of your allies are downed, you can jump to them and start ressing.
.#4 is a nice cc spell. You can also use it to escape, almost like a dodge roll.
.#3 deals a lot of damage at close range.
I don’t really know the ranged spell for a warrior for example. But I think the engineer spells are pretty good. Not just for dps but overall. Especially if you combo them somehow.
You can for example net the boss with #2. Jump in with #5. Then use #3 for that burst damage and finally #4 to gain distance again.
personally i think warrior rifle skills and engineer rifle skills should swap. what makes more sense? a heavy armor class capable of tanking very well even with a rifle getting the long range dps, or the medium armor class that’s almost required to go tank just to be effective with rifle?
i’m full knight’s/invader’s armor and i’m pretty confident that’s the only reason i’m able to do as well as i do with engineer’s rifle
so that makes three times NSP stopped us at Anvil’s redbriar. not sure for what purpose but okay

This new grenade nerf makes no difference because we can now officially stack 25 stacks of might forever. even outside combat i can get it to about 15.
The grenade nerf is only to skill 1. They did add damage to blindness grenade(I never used) and The poison grenade skill. So the trade of not so bad.
The main thing to note is dual wielding on main hand is almost mandatory. Sigil of strength is now amazing. I also picked up a the precision stacking sigil. so i can get my crit damage and proc rate higher.
This class has definitely not been nerfed.
All i should say is pure cookie cuter grenade build have to use might stacks. so basically hard core or you get low dps.
So spam those elixirs.

They were nerfed during beta, but that was due to the complaints when everyone was level 30ish. In the live game at 80 they barely tickle.
yeah man…get enough armor and you take maybe ~2k from a full barrage.

that’s…ironic. i’ve looked at all maps and sometimes seen both other borderlands both completely red and green save for a couple camps and sometimes a tower, while in GOMBL keeps are getting hit by 40 deep zergs constantly
as i see it crafting has no purpose but to level…with few exceptions. now that you can PvE farm almost all trinkets, making them seems a little pointless.
whatever my thoughts and opinions about the break out event, anet getting rid of it would cause 10x more complaining.
the idea behind it is needed.

Necromancers, we Engineers feel your pain…big time. i’ve tried necromancers and enjoyed it(mostly, until i realized my only ranged damage was going to come in the form of conditions, and i really don’t like using cliche setups) what exactly was changed for necro this time around?
i run the tankcat build(minus the p/s and tool kit.) 0/30/30/10/0
i still do a crapton of damage. i’m usually out looking to run into thieves and rangers…
i use rifle and nade kit. but …just mentioning that there’s someone out there that uses rifle means i’ll probably get nerfed too. so messed up. also consider that nades are the only long range (besides mortar, also an eng skill._., maybe barrage) that you don’t have to press the evade key to avoid, cuz gravity. if your’e going to nerf the damage, at least make the grenades travel faster.

Doesn’t really matter much. Folks tend to work with one or two favourites because they’re proven and are trusted. And they tell their friends who’s best to follow, etc…
That’s not to say there isn’t room for more, but only time and track record determines whether to follow or not. It’s like a vetting process I guess.

dual shield? could work. kind of kratos-ish, i guess. one of the offhand skills could be like warrior’s dual strike. “slam both shields at target/target location, doing xx damage and stunning for y seconds”
giving turrets mobility could also make them detonate at targets as well, not sure why that isn’t in the game already now that you mention it.
There’s a GoM engineer in the GoM Borderlands that will engage in a fight 1v1 with me and before losing, will log off. He/she’s done this 3 times in a row now, and it’s infuriating. Is there anything I can do about this?

i’m honestly wondering why Engineer isn’t heavy armor. especially knowing how close you have to be with almost all weapon skills. plus it’s pretty annoying seeing NPCs in heavy armor using a pistol and shield.
Hmmm, let’ see… Gear shield, static shield, magnetic inversion, ram head, big ol bomb, overcharged shot, net turret, net shot, double super elixirs, elixir S, airblast, smoke vent, static shot, smoke screen bomb, blind combo field, tranqualizer dart, flash grenades, chill grenades, cripples… Nope, can’t think of any reason why they shouldn’t have heavy armor.
i’m not sure how you’re correlating skills to armor types. but just relax and think about it.
