It’s possible they reduced the requirements for the colored pack because it takes more materials to make, so they might have felt it was more fair to have a less demanding infusion cost. (They may have anticipated power cores being more rare or something)

I feel quite positive about the changes, albeit with some reservations about the delay in getting to the traits. I’m at 12 80’s now, and nearly 40 on my 3rd Mesmer, because I always want to have someone I’m leveling in order to get that feeling of progress. So far I’ve managed different weapon/trait builds for each one … anyway! Question: You didn’t say pre-existing 80’s get all traits unlocked, you said pre-existing characters. So my new Mesmer, assuming he doesn’t hit 80 by Apr 15, does he get all traits, or just some? How does this work for characters created before Apr 15 but not yet 80 as of the patch?

Any character that was created before the feature pack build will be grandfathered into the system; meaning that they will have traits 1 through 12 of each line unlocked. The new 13 traits will need to be unlocked by everyone. Any character created after the build will be required to unlock all of their traits via content or purchasing trait guides.

Everyone in PvP will have access to traits 1 through 12, even on new characters. New traits will be initially locked in PvP and require an unlock similar to when we added the new healing skills. Once a trait is unlocked it is unlocked for all game modes. Hope that clears it up a bit.

I am a total girl in that way I have 4 sets of armor on my guard… and the panda hat for town clothing. I would have gotten more town clothing if it was available. I spend more money on dyes, clothing, and hair style change than I do on anything else.

Btw my zerk build improved the game for me. My favorite dungeon stopped being so difficult, and I can now role play there whenever I want.

Sprockets are still the cheapest T6 mat on the market. When they get to 30s then we can talk.

They drop at about the same frequency as other T6 mats now. From a small subset of Mobs and additionally from Home nodes and P2W picks.

But you need, bare minimum, 250 Sprockets to craft anything useful with Sprockets (superior sigils and runes). And Zealot’s gear (as well as the ascended spinal blades) requires 500 per piece. And Sprocket jewelry takes 750 (!) for a single piece.

So comparing them 1 to 1 with T6 mats doesn’t work at all. You can buy the 5 T6 mats to create a piece of exotic armor for 2g17s give or take. The Sprockets to craft a piece of exotic Zealot gear now costs 6g14s. And for Jewelry its less than 1g for 5 Ruby Orbs to craft a piece of ‘zerker jewelry (and that’s by far the most expensive T6 jewel) vs 9g21s for the Sprockets to craft a piece of Sprocket jewelry.

I agree with your assessment except that exotic jewelry costs ruby jewels, I believe, 5 of them. Not just ruby orbs. Exotic jewelry, to me, is more expensive to make than just buying ascended with laurels.

The question is, what exactly you have to do for that .. fine if it is all soloable, but would be bad if in the end you have to “buy” these skills maybe later from other players because you need to kill champs or do things in Dungeons that nobody else does anymore.

One of the screenshots in the announcement/article shows a trait that is unlocked by defeating the High Wizard guarding the entrance to Arah. I’m sure there will be a surge of players doing all these events for unlocks shortly after the update hits. But good luck getting that later on.

I would like to point out this part of the blog:

All major traits will be locked on characters created after the feature pack. All existing characters created before this feature pack will be have all previously existing major traits unlocked.

Given that, I think there will not be a real rush to do most of these events, because all existing characters will already have those things unlocked. Only the events for the new Grandmaster traits will be locked for exisiting characters, and only those events will get rushed.

Adept and Master trait events, as well as ones for currently existing Grandmaster traits, will stay as ignored as they currently are, until some new characters reach a level to need to take them on.

So I wonder if this is also, like, level 20s we have now will have all the traits unlocked, even if they aren’t now (like, grandmaster traits). I’m going to keep one alt at 20 to see, but my next character I’m going to bring to at least 60 before this patch, for sure.

It means you won’t be able to use any major traits until you unlock them, just like Skills. And you unlock the traits by finishing specific content

I totally get what you’re saying OP, and I feel for you. But my experience was very different.

I took my time. I didn’t see the legendary as my end game goal, I saw it as a step along the way. When my precursor popped from the forge on a completely random time (wasn’t even trying, just wanted forge daily) I was absolutely elated. Then, my friends, my guildies, the people I had been playing with helped me complete it. My legendary has a piece of literally every single one of my friends’ inside it. That made it legendary for me.

My second legendary was the same way. The forge randomly gave me The Lover on my birthday. I finished the bow that night, with help from friends and guildies. In addition, every time I see a friend or guildie working on a project, a legendary, a cool forge skin, I always send a bit to help. I think it makes the game that much more special. The camaraderie is what keeps me coming back to the game.

Anyway, I wish it had turned out differently for you. After all of your work, to have the experience not even be worth it to you is awful. I hope that you find more of what you want.

I think I saw a dev response saying that they consider map/say to be like, in public at a family restaurant, and in guild and party chat (assuming the language isn’t harassment or threatening) it’s more like a friendly barbecue. If you drop the f bomb constantly in a restaurant, you can get kicked out, but if you’re just hanging out with friends at a barbecue, it can be common place. In guild chat or party chat it isn’t really public.

I’ve gotten 2 ascended weapon chests from level 30s. Not a single fractal weapon. Tons of uninfused rings.

Fixing bugged forum

One of these days, my goal in life is to lay my eyes upon an eternity ranger. Because I’ve never seen one. Have any of you?

Now I don’t know if greatsword is good on ranger or not, but i don’t care. If I see an eternity ranger, I know for a fact that they know what they’re doing have no better class to put it on.

Now sleep time. I’ll dungeon in my dreams.

It would be a nice feature. In addition, a way to navigate through long threads to get to the developer post straight away would also be helpful.

I do know they have been working in bettering the forums, but it does seem like more could be done.

I’m afraid the high of getting the precursor will be lost. Right now its so sudden, surprising, and wonderful to get one.

Most of us don’t know this feeling, despite countless hours played and hundreds if not thousands of gold thrown into the MF. Therein lies the problem. A few lucky people get rich beyond belief and the rest of us WORK in our game to get something we want to enjoy. I personally find the system completely unfair. However, I can see that if you’re one of the 1%, you find it highly perfect. Go figure.

I don’t find it perfect, but I will say having a guaranteed precursor versus the excitement and surprise of having one drop (probably the second best feeling I’ve had while playing the game) would seem to be less awesome. My opinion though.

For the record, I didn’t get rich with my precursors. I used them. Other people got rich off of my t6 purchases.
