I believe they have said they are doing living stories in an attempt to give the game a more live feel. If something good sticks around too long it becomes stagnated. However, when it is taken away before this can happen, you are left with your nostalgia. There are indeed pros and cons to this tactic, but this is simply how Anet wants to do things. They are experimenting with what works and what doesn’t. If it doesn’t pan out as planned you can expect them to stop.
I think a better question is why do we have to go through 6 months of beta testing for them to have something not pan out.
It’s sort of difficult to get an idea if something will work or not before they do it at least once. This IS their living story.
Oh well, Neverwinter client just finished installing. Maybe ill have more fun over there…
You would.. if it wasn’t conveniently in maintenance right now ><

Sorry you are unhappy with the game. Being a subless game though, that means the doors will always be open should you return. Not particularly sure how one “quits” a video game to be honest. It is supposed to be recreation. Once it is no longer fun you are supposed to stop.
Regardless, I wish you luck in finding a game that suits you better. Just try and remember not to blur the lines between hobby and life.
The fractal addition would be great. Perhaps a more condensed version with the jetpack loot removed, so that we could still revisit the place and at the same time, make the fractals even more diverse.
I feel a little silly for proposing the obvious, but have you tried scaling the Interface Size so that is appears larger?
I think it is a shame that it will only be temporary, but at the same time it can be more appreciated this way. Things tend to stagnate rather fast.
Just keep in mind not to buy two same ascended rings (or whatever). They cannot both be equipped on the same character (unless you infuse one??).
It will save you a lot of trouble if you remember that and do not have to contact support and so on. ^^
This needs to be posted in bold flashing text. With neon signs depicting arrows pointed at it while fireworks are constantly exploding in an effort to get your attention.
For gods sake people! Read the unique tag!
He’s doing the Thriller dance, but he can only remember the “Thriller” part.
I’ll give it a try sometime when I do a fract or something.
Wait, what if you have two monitors?
Whatever class you can play the most without getting bored. Efficiency means nothing if you are only playing what’s popular.
I have 932 hours across all my characters and I have never seen over 30 gold at one time in my bags… I suck.
What if I told you, you’ve been playing max level content since level 2?
Seriously though, go have fun! This game isn’t about rushing to the max level just to unlock the game!
Maybe you’d care less about skimpy clothing in video games if you had someone to dress skimpily for you in real life.
Let’s not turn this into personal attacks please.
Oh, but saying women should run around half naked isn’t a personal attack?
It is only an attack of you perceive it as such. It certainly isn’t one directed at anyone in particular to make it “personal”. It is however, something of a crass request. You could be more on topic however and say why it doesn’t work with the game. Attack his opinion, not him directly.

It’s a simple task to appease to people through sex appeal, but it is far more rewarding to go the highroad and not turn the game into some 13 year olds wet dream. I think Arenanet is above this. Go play some korean game of you want over sexualization.
Also, I’m typing on my goggle as hard as I can, but nothing seems to happen. =\
Guild Wars was not designed to be soloed, so no it doesn’t fit. The heroes were meant to fill needed party slots so the player wasn’t forced to perpetually seek a party. Since Guild Wars 2 is more traditional, it can easily be soloed for a large chunk of its content.
I haven’t been lagging at all on my end. Have you tried updating your routers firmware?
It isn’t uncommon to have bosses live on a short leash. Unless there is a given reason for the boss to SAY why he refuses to fight with his allies outside of his safety room, then it just seems like a kitten encounter to even include the trash.
They do. I saw one in a fractal yesterday. However, they changed it a while back where masterwork do not appear on chests anymore, just the body.
And btw, breaking line of sight to lure a ranged mob by using obstacles is 1×1 in gaming and certainly not an exploit.
Breaking LoS to lure range is a sound tactic, which can logically be used even in real combat. However, doing so in order to fight them without the boss they were clearly intended to be fought with, is an exploit.
You raise a good argument MLieBennett. That does sound like a viable expectation the designers might have had. It is a shame though about the loot. That would be rather disadvantageous for you. Well, I feel a little better now at least knowing there is logic to the madness. I just wish I didn’t feel dirty every time I went through the dungeon for going against it… You know, besides the part where I am groaning over how freaking long the fractal tends to take. However, that’s another subject entirely.
I don’t think you quite understood my post. I am asking the question if this is infact how we are intended to do this fractal. Something about breaking aggro and line of sighting the boss to reset w/o his trash seems broken to me.
With the amount of dredge we are forced to face at the breakable wall section and the boss room that follows with the set number of Dredge respawns, I have to ask; are we expected to fight this kind of force through normal means? It’s irritating to feel forced to perform suicide bomb runs just to get the gate down just because the Dredge apparently breed faster than rabbits. I am sure perhaps some class combos can do it, but it is such a mess that it is highly unadvisable to do it normally.
The second part at the boss room just after the gate is equally frustrating. The spawning mechanic itself is easy enough to manage given the line of sight exploit people often (always) use, but if done normally combined with the boss with the excruciatingly painful shockwave attack is pretty much impossible. There are so many Dredge that it is just down right impossible to see that attack coming!
My point is, the fractal is punishingly difficult if done what is considered the “normal” way. I just have to ask; is it actually expected of players to suicide bomb the door and LoS the trash till it simply expires? It makes the encounter as a whole feel kind of cheap. Just as it was back when we were able to zerg rush the bosses in dungeons. That was eventually fixed, but now it feels like we took a step backwards IMMEDIATELY after making one forward!
It is also kind of funny for a firesword to be “of air”, but hey. Least it isn’t redundant and not a fiery sword of fire. I’m looking at you “berserkers spineguard of the berserker”!
Alsom http://www.gw2armor.com/charr/male/medium_list.php Looks like a pretty darn decent amount of choices for skins available at the launch of the game, and that’s just the medium armor.
All of the “I am quitting” are extremely shallow because they are not giving up any thing to play the game so by quitting they are losing nothing. Its a lot like the “i am done paying for the game until etc..” its a thread post “i will hold my breath until something” much like a a very young person would say whom is just throwing a tantrum.
Quit posts are generally just a place where they feel they can vent their frustrations. No matter how misplaced it might be. A lot of them do it kind of knowing how pointless it is. It’s usually a way for people to express their gripes with a game and hope someone can talk them out of it.

What exactly was stopping you from playing with your friend? It doesn’t sound like you tried very hard considering just how easy it really is.
Diablo was sort of.. pun not intended here, “unique” in its use of the word. In MMOs however, it is widely accepted as the meaning of an item that you may only equip one of. While personally I think it is rather obvious, I can see how it might come off as something of a surprise to people without an extensive history of MMO background. There should really be a warning prompt when purchasing unique items in the same way some games warn you the item will bind to your character when purchased.
They should mention it in a tooltip or such :/
They did. The word “unique” within the tooltip. It’s a lame excuse, but there was a warning given, albeit a rather subtle one.
I’ll cross my fingers for you. Hope you can find a resolution.
Protip: don’t be too aggressive for them to fix it. Don’t spam reports if you get impatient like some people do. That will only slow the process down and likely just put you back at the bottom of the queue.

Only found 7 out of 10 so far.
Actually, sometimes that attack can be rather frustrating to dodge. I have a recurring issue where the laser affect, along with the sound associated with it won’t even trigger. Don’t even tell me that you can just roll as the target goes away or just before, because it only sometimes works. Lag happens, and when it does, it makes timing incredibly inconsistent without any visual/audio cues.
The pet targeting issue is just silly. To be quite frank, it shouldn’t even be a problem the Ranger should have to deal with. It is a bug/flawed mechanic and it should be dealt with.
I’ll take a thousand jumping puzzles through a sea of traps and pitfalls over invisible walls and pathfinding character movement. I HATED it! In GW every time I had the reflex to jump, I end up running to whoever I have targeted. Obnoxiousness!
No one is arguing that MF flat out does not work. It isn’t a dummy stat that has no affect at all. The problem here is that luck is not evenly distributed to everyone. Some people will live the high life, while the rest of us squirm for rares. It’s arrogant to expect the same results for everyone.
Sadly, there is just a good a chance (if not more likely) that you are one of the lucky individuals who had good results with loot. For all we all know, you could have successfully gotten those items even without the gear. We will never know.
If you flip a coin enough times, you will indeed wind up with exactly heads half the time and tails half the time.
As said here
http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/discussions/TheoreticalVsExperimental/
“Theoretical probability is a way of estimating what could happen based on the information that you have; it is a calculation. Theoretical probability cannot predict what the actual results will be, but it does give you an idea of what is likely to happen in a situation.”
You are not wrong in your assessment then EVENTUALLY that increased probability will reveal concrete results. However, as you said, it would take a long time.
The problem here is that you are a human, not a computer. It will take far longer then you will be capable of comprehending to even notice the difference. Manually killing things will take so long in fact, this change in probability will seem almost non existent to us mortals. The only thing you can do is have faith in the math. It’s up to each of us to determine if we truly believe in “theoretical probability”.
Logically, it exists. However, you need to ask yourself: will you play long enough to actually experience it?
I’ve had similar results with the same class and same gear makeup. Though I believe my math got my magic find gear even higher.
I farm Orr events on my engineer in magic find gear. I get more rares farming Orr mobs in my Zerker gear on my Ranger.
I don’t get it…
Maybe you do more damage faster on your ranger, so you’re tagging more targets that then qualify you for a reward? Just a guess.
If one person has 100% MF (doubling the drop rate) and another with zerker gear, but the capability to kill twice as fast as last guy (to the millisecond) it will be equal. I find they generally balance no matter how you balance your stats.
Statistically speaking, 100% MF will double your chances at better loot, but it is a fallacy to assume that means double the good loot. Random is random. The answer is in the statement. Even random nature can be random. Even with say a 99% chance to get a blue can give a person no blues every single time. Luck plays a huge factor here. Random chance should never EVER be relied on in any form of statistical analysis.
Personally, I stopped even caring about it. I used to at least use pirate runes, but even with that I decided to just go for improving my build. It’s fine if others want to, and I wish them luck. However, I just feel like it isn’t worth my time as long as luck still dictates the outcome. Maybe if at some point it introduces a mechanic where you get a green or higher after X kills, I will revisit it, but until then I will ignore it.
Forget the 4 legendaries. I wanna throw 4 of those mini forges people got a while back into it. Watch the world collapse into itself.
10 bucks for a pick. It looks cool, no arguments here, but considering the price.. It would be nice if it at least gave us a couple for alts. That, or at least multi-tool for wood and herbs.
Lets see who wants these to be use more and who hates them!
Post “1up” for keeping them.
Post “FAIL”, if you want them removed.
I’m not a fan of the short answer system you are asking, as they tend to be the lowest form of feedback. Just a step up from the infamous “^” reply.
Personally, I don’t find them particularly enjoyable. If they didn’t have such an annoying knockback attack I might consider them more worth my time. The reward is rather subpar, but if they weren’t such a pain the butt I think it would be fairly acquitted. They seem to want people to be killing them en-mass, which would explain the reasoning for the small reward, but mechanically they are just far too much work. The event that sometimes pops up from nearly killing them also slows it down by a lot as well. Not to mention these events can be excessively difficult for low level solo adventurers.
This kind of mindset goes with the territory of speed runs. You do something so much so repetitively that you get to a point that your mind can’t help but become machine like and demands absolute efficiency. It is sad when people reach this point and are so blind that they don’t realize what they have become and take a step back. This is primarily why I avoid speed runs, or party requests with those near elite red flags. Link gear, know fights, ect. Demands like that.
I know how it feels to be shut down like that in an instant when truly you were doing your best. Try not to let it get to you. There are still good people in this game. We aren’t all tools.
After reading the interview about it, I am really curious how long it took them to make what they have so far. If this was really spur of the moment I am extremely impressed with how efficient they are with their content development. The art, the level design, the sound quality. It’s an amazing feat. I haven’t even run into a single bug (excluding the annoying camera problems which is an issue at the games very core).
I can not wait for the rest of it!
The chests were only intended for the first of April. Their removal was sadly intended.

Please use this thread to express your opinion.
Considering a lot of these are assumptions to how the end game is, I will conclude that you are relatively new, so welcome to the game.
The zones might appear empty, but really they aren’t. You aren’t expected to have people available at every waking moment. A lot of the content is scaled to be soloed. It is quite frustrating to solo an event chain, just to have it end with a group event, but with no one to help. You can’t expect people to populate every nook and crack of the world.
Loot it scaled to the level of the player attending the zone, so 80 are rewarded for doing your low level zones. The problem is that there is still a chance for the zone to drop lowbie gear as well, although the chance seems much lower. This includes the Shadow Behemoth event. Max level characters are indeed rewarded max level loot and even a very special staff which was up until now, practically impossible to acquire. I’m not sure what server you play on, but I see that event populated every time it pops up.
It is understandable to feel a little irritated about the issue, but it helps to offer a solution as well. Simply pointing out a problem just opens up a rant where discussion rarely ends productively. This is a forum, not a soap box.
Ascended items should not be lumped together with armor sets. Not until they introduce ascended armors. Hold off on your accusations until the crime has actually been committed.
We actually got it with like 8 to 9 minutes remaining. We already did it on tier 1 and 2 prior so no one was worried about missing a kill. Also scouted all the targets ahead of time with roughly 100 guys. I think we got it faster, but we had more man power, so really take it with a grain of salt.
Of course I can’t prove it since I took no screenshot, but in the end, who cares :P
I love the gear grinding Mike O Brian. Thanks for telling us about doing a dungeon over and over to get gear that’s clearly better than anything else and that long before release, I appreciate being well-informed.
Sure about that? Explore mode dungeons for unique armor skins with stats just as good as crafted and karma purchased armor. While the BiS ascended items come from fractals, but can also be seen as its own form of “explore dungeon” grind for misc stuff like rungs, and backs. The two still server their purpose and don’t really take from the other. You could argue that fractals offers better loot at higher levels, but I have come to believe that the better loot scaling is so tiny, it hardly even matters. It’s there, but it wont double the value of a normal explore dungeon run.
