I don’t really think this is a myth. I don’t know a single person who actually thinks that their number if hours has any bearing on their precursor chances.
Maybe in all fairness, statistically you should have had one drop if you have actually played that many hours. I’ve played more, gone dead broke trying, and I’m still waiting.

The problem is that it doesn’t matter how many times you have killed something that had a precursor in the loot table, you still have the same chance as when you first started playing. 1 h of lvl 80 champion kills, say, at 500 playtime hours = 1 h of lvl 80 champion kills at say 5000 playtime hours. It has no bearing whatsoever. If you have the luck, if RNG likes you, etc, then you might get a precursor from a mob, champion, dungeon boss, wvw chest, etc etc. if you haven’t gotten one in 5k hours, that stinks! But it still has no bearing on your likelihood of getting one from the next monster you kill. That’s not a myth. That just is.

Now seriously, there could be various ways you are out +-30G
They are:
1.) You never had that much gold and you are probably misremembering
2.) You used that 30G on buy orders that were fulfilled or still pending
3.) You used that +- 30g while in a drunken stupor by moa gambling
They are for silk which is required for bolt of damask, sweet heart, and that’s why they are very expensive now. Enjoy it while it last
To me, my gold/money is well-spent in the copper fed salvage-o-matic. It’s just an essential when I have to deal with a huge influx of loots while trying to hoard crafting materials. And to consider that I have to salvage enough for thousands of luck points, the kit saves me quite a bit of gold (in waypoint, vendor, etc)

You have an exotic back piece that is skinned with the dragon wings. You want to make and skin an ascended quiver with those wings. Then, you eventuLly want to infuse that ascended quiver.
Use a transmutation splitter; upgrade, back piece, and skin (or statless back piece skin). Back piece and skin is soulbound.
If you wish to skin the new quiver, you can either skin it, or use a transmutation crystal to transmute the back piece looks onto the ascended quiver. If you wish to then infuse the quiver, you can use a splitter to get the skin back, infuse quiver, and rinse and repeat the previous process.
I bought the gem kit with money so it wasn’t gold problem. It has unlimited uses and costs 3 c/use. Each blue or green (3s10c to 3s50c) I salvage nets me around 2 or 3 times amount of either silk, linen or gossamers. These mats are very valuable on the trading post, plus about 3,000 points of luck. Even if I don’t get profit from re-selling mats, my good magic find does improve my loots in dungeons or world boss farming.
This may not be applied to the OP case, but I find it costs less in amount of gold investment.

A splitter and a transmutation crystal. Split the back piece, the wings that come back will come back either as a skin or a normal statless back piece (it depends, I’m not sure what it depends on). Infuse the quiver, either reskin it with the wings or transmute the wings.

Even lorewise it makes no sense, as it was supposed to be a triangle interaction between the nightmare court NPCs. Except that now we don’t have the Vevina fight/Fyonna Tree/Leurent dead variation. Where is my immersion ANet.
They said that the paths were the possibilities that could happen after faolain was beaten. They said that Fyonna would be less likely to get to the nightmare tree first (which, sure, probably true ) and that it made sense that Scarlet actually had taken over that path.
I just want them to post dungeon changes in their patch notes. Is it so hard to write:
~ Blocked access to the boat in Arah path 2
~ Fixed a bug stopping Alphard from using daggerstorm if players are meleeing on her spawn point

Sure, the first one doesn’t matter since people already have another way and the second doesn’t mention how you now have to be extra careful with reflects, but actually telling people that they changed it would be appreciated. It’s not even people like me who suffer, it’s people like the pug group I joined and then saved them from another three hours of wipes who are the ones who suffer, which is the community ANet would seem to want to cater too.
It really gets on my nerves when ANet make stealth changes, it just creates mistrust and resentment, and there’s just no reason for them to not mention it.
This is a very valid point. They should have added it to the notes when they changed tafu to be harder, too. So many poor pugs.
You can take down the listing, but the tax will never be received back. (It takes a fee percentage of the listing). Unfortunately, that’s all there is you can do.
BALANCE PVE professions…..
Just to start with something
There is some truth in this statement, however I want to remind you that you can not balance the lack of skill. Eles are great damage dealers already , however a lot of ele players run horrible builds for dungeons (aurashare for example) with horrible gearsets (celestial would be godly compared to it), even if you buff eles, those people wont go. Same goes for rangers, they can deal very decent dps, however 99% are longbow camping. Now of course some things can be balanced out, for example how necros bring very little use to your party, but tbh there needs to be a way to really show players how much of an anchor they really are for their groups. (inb4 a quadrillion h4t3r5 show up).
a couple suggestion…
-If you pug…celestial may be a great choice for ele. (that s why i bring one along my zerk set)
-the bunker ele is highly situational, yet can be useful
-if you take ele for dps, is probably because you didn t find a 5th warriors expecially if you pug
-all balance is done for pvp, that hurt some profession and kept warriors and guardians godlike in pve since release..
-don t trust dps tests…..they are made mostly in situation not representing the real game.
Said this, every profession is viable.
Issue is, a superskilled necro, is as effective as a beginner warrior…….
This led to what we have now…. i already screened many times the LFG board full of “only heavies”….
And its also one of the reason if a really huge part of the istance community rerolled an heavy….they lost faith in anet after one year repeating the same stuff they shouldn t even be told.
Byron, I think you underestimate elementalist damage. They can have much higher than a warriors, but the skill ceiling is indeed higher. Good players know this. Why play with players who don’t?
I recommend going on the wiki, looking at each shiver peak map, and making sure you have every white lettered area. Sometimes, an area is missed because there are no POIs or WPs
There is no exclusivity. Theres been plenty of newer posters recently and they are welcomed. Its the posters that flame and complain about the same things over and over and create non constructive threads which are the problem. Or the downright delusional that cant understand reason.
I think this is the root of Obtena’s issue with us. He/she thinks we are excluding him/her from the cool kids table.

The only reason this subforum seems toxic is because its become like a chatroom for a bunch of players that know each other. Its like a circle of people who have the same opinions and ideas. We get asked stupid questions and flamed and you wonder why things have gotten like this?
This exclusivity is part of the problem and it stems from the “play this way” ideals.
There are 4 main communities. PvP, WvW, casual pve and dungeon pve. All of them get plenty of dev interaction apart from the dungeon community. How is that ok? And id argue pvp is a far more toxic community yet they get plenty of interaction.

Statistically, who is the problem here? The people answering the questions, or the people starting problems and huge heated threads?
This community is ‘ignored’ for obvious reasons. The game doesn’t cater to it’s most capable members. Second, a certain vocal population doesn’t respect anything outside it’s own vision of how to play.

That’s a community issue. People need to recognize what kind of audience this game caters to.
I’m not sure you’re making the point you’re attempting to. Basically, what you’re saying is what we are saying. The game doesn’t care about an entire community, and that’s not okay.
You do realise the forum has only gotten like this because of the lack of developer interaction.
Other areas do not have dev interaction and aren’t like this at all. Players create their own environments through their own communication and language. Blaming the devs for the toxic air in this subforum is irresponsible.

Yeah, this is also the case with female light Asura cultural t3… I do think it has to do with clipping, but it seems like an issue that has occurred for far too long.
Getting something as a drop or as a reward for doing something is fun imo. Buying something or trying to justify buying something as being a reward is not imo. If I wanted to buy my rewards I would play a different genre of game.

The likelihood of the exact precursor you want dropping randomly from a mob is…. Very low. I don’t really know what you want. Precursor crafting? If so, then I guess wait. But I am nearly positive it will be as bad or worse than farming gold to buy it.
Part 3 is actualy the reason we all rush lupicus health bar trought part 2 lol because hes a just a huge barney the pink dino at part 3 and wouldnt kill anything ever if he wanted to (well if you actualy run a 2h sword or axe warrior on lupicus its all your fault anyway if you fail at the easyest part of the fight) stay at a fair range from him and youl be fine
The funny part is that you are giving someone from rT advise on how to do Lupicus, even though the whole guild consists of people who can solo him in melee on various classes and at a speed which could make an a pug team look like a wet noodle trying to range him. The point is, precursors are extremely rare as mob drops. More come out of the forge, to I’m nearly positive of. Some lucky folks do have them drop (like me, one Storm from Malrona, excellent!) but I have really good luck.
I think the real myth here is that everyone in the game deserves and will eventually get a precursor. Regardless of their hours. I can say that I’ve been into a shop that sells lottery tickets every day and I still haven’t won, but then it might also have been the case that I never bought a ticket. Don’t expect a precursor as a drop. If you wanna win the lottery, play the forge. That’s the only way you really have.
Probably more cost effective to farm gold and buy it. I know of lots of people who ended up spending more money crafting the PC, than it would have been to actually buy it outright.
I totally agree, but people complain about buying it. I’m just saying, you’re most likely not going to get a precursor unless you play the mystic forge lottery, or buy it.
