Rezzet's Review on Gyros

in Engineer

Posted by: Llethander.3972

When I first heard about Gyros I was thinking it would be something that passively affected the Engineer, but also had an active ability, and followed us in a little swarm of bots much like the Function Gyro does.

I’ve been crashing every few hours in the HoT areas. My latest crash came in Heart of the Mists after a PvP match. Getting really annoyed…

Gonna play the Blade and Soul beta for now because it’s really frustrating to finish a big meta event only to crash before being able to get any of the chests or other area rewards.

Loosing participation after game crash

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

You know what’s just as bad as that? Having the game crash RIGHT after completing a meta (like Tarir) and you logging back in, but being shot to another mega server, losing the actual rewards you are able to get (the chests down below Tarir) for your hard work.

It completely deflates and ambition to even bother with these events if you can’t even maintain participation or even collect rewards because of server/game issues.

I was even thinking of dropping money for that beginner thing with the bag slots and harvesting tools that is on a timed sale, but nope. Not gonna bother now.

I hear this. Just had it happen to me.

Llethander.3972

Really? It got me the first time but after that first death, and a second death from a glitch where a portal was out in thin air causing me to fall to my doom, I found it pretty straightforward.

The continuously getting interrupted got annoying, though, when the swarms started coming at me, that’s for sure.

[Request] Action Camera and Function Gyro

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

I love the Action Cam to death but find myself encountering an issue when it comes to use the Function Gyro on the Scrapper. Because a friendly/enemy needs to be targeted in order to use the Function Gyro it is, currently, next to impossible to use it to help allies with Action Cam enabled. This means we need to toggle out of Action Cam, target the friendly/enemy we want to help/stomp, activate the Function Gyro, and then toggle back into Action Cam to continue on.

I don’t know if it’s possible to do, but would it be possible to add the option to choose what order we want to prioritize with the right-click targets? For example, I would like to set it to prioritize downed targets, followed by enemies, followed by allies.

If that is not possible, at the very least, allow the hover-target to give us the option to assist downed allies or stomp enemies instead of requiring us to hard-lock them.

This has probably already been suggested somewhere but let me know what you think.

[spoilers] That gliding phase was a bad idea

Llethander.3972

I just used the ability to strafe while gliding. Begin strafing when he throws the rock, laugh as it sails harmlessly past. I got hit by the first one he threw because I wasn’t expecting it but managed to get airborne fast.

What I didn’t like was how my character said “Shield yourself or get airborne!” and I ran into the big blue shield bubble with everyone else… and proceeded to die.

Sylvari Solidarity Achievement

Llethander.3972

You don’t need to complete the mission to get the achievement. Once the Sylvari is saved from Mordremoth’s influence the achievement is gained. I don’t mind the fact that this achievement requires a Sylvari but the fact that it’s required for the meta achievement track completion is a bit silly.

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

Precursor crafting, as I’m sure has already been said in this thread, is meant to offset the RNG chance to obtain a precursor. From what I have gathered, the total price to craft through the Legendary crafting option was based on the cost to purchase the it from the auction house.

If you choose to BUY everything, you’ll likely be spending about the same amount as you would have spent to purchase it outright from the TP. This, however, gives us the OPTION to farm for it.

As someone who dislikes mindless farming, I actually don’t mind the new system. The issue I had with farming before is there wasn’t anything I could farm to give me a better chance at obtaining a precursor to the point where I felt my time was worth it. Now, at least, I can say “I am going to farm W, X, and Y in order to guarantee getting Z” and feel like my plan will work since I don’t have to wait for RNJesus to shower me with his steaming hot love.

HoT Soundtrack Complaint

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

I have a serious complaint with the soundtrack for Heart of Thorns. It’s something that’s been nagging at the back of my mind since the expansion released. It started as a numb tingle, grew to a strong murmur and has evolved into a cacophony that unimaginable proportions that just cannot be ignored!

The soundtrack for Heart of Thorns… is just too demn good!

I decided, on a whim, that when the expansion launched I would turn the music on – as I had previously disabled it to listen to my own music part-way through the first month of the original Guild Wars 2 – since I was expecting a few new BGM tracks. Whilst I was correct, I noticed something that I had not expected. I have found myself liking these BGM tracks so much more than the base game’s. So much so that I can’t bring myself to turn the music back off to listen to my own playlist again.

The fact that the music alternates between multiple tracks per zone keeps them from getting tiresome and repetitive, as is the case with most MMOs. I can’t remember if this was something that was in the base game at launch or not…

tl;dr
The music in HoT is amazing! When can we purchase the soundtrack? I waaaaant it!

Gaile, can we please get a mod looking at titles of some of the threads too? I came in today to post about something and got tons of spoilers as thread titles. I wont be back now until I finish the story I guess. -_-

If the topic has “Spoilers” I recommend that you don’t even open the thread, because you don’t have a way of knowing what is told, or when it will appear in the thread.

What CandyHearts means is that people are putting thread titles as “OMG [Redacted] kills [Redacted]!!” or “How about when [Redacted] took the [Redacted].”

It’s not so hard to avoid spoilers when they’re in the thread because it’s a simple matter of not opening the thread. When browsing the sub-forum it’s next to impossible to avoid spoilers if the spoiler itself is the thread title. :<

I don’t expect we’ll see a corrupted Trahearne.

you mean the trahearne that emo’d out three times in the personal story because “I have no idea how to lead”, “cleansing orr is an impossible task… I don’t even know where to begin” and to a lesser extent “my wyld hunt is over… what do I do now?”

“strong willed” is not a term I’d immediately jump to to describe Trahearne.

Just because he’s lacking in conviction and doesn’t believe in himself at the beginning doesn’t mean he’s weak willed. He was a developing character and, as much as I hated him, “weak willed” isn’t something I’d use to describe him.

Celestial Avatar suggestion

in Ranger

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

I haven’t found many opportunities on these forums to say this but I actually like your suggestions. .

Cosmic Ray – I agree with you regarding Cosmic Ray. The current iteration of the skill is the exact reason why I don’t like Grenade Kit on Engineer even though it’s such a powerful option; my wrists absolutely loathe me after a few minutes of skill use and make sure I am aware of their unbridled distaste for everything me. Pair that with the fact that hitting a target that’s actively trying to survive and it actually doesn’t tend to heal for much unless the Druid gets lucky

Seed of Life – I don’t mind this one too much but, personally, feel that it’s effect animation is very underwhelming. Half the time I can’t actually tell if the skill actually cast without looking at my skillbar and, likewise, if the seed has burst to apply its effect.

Lunar Impact – I wasn’t even aware that this was supposed to be a blast finisher. Aside from that I think this skill is one of the better ones we get in CA.

Tidal Surge – Honestly, this skill feels just right at the moment as a short duration, high impact, mobile water field. I found it was a large chunk of my healing output when stacking or grouped up.

Natural Convergence – I would love this change. We don’t get much access to stability and, as a result, this skill is pathetically easy to interrupt especially since it’s a channeled ability that roots us in place.

in pvp, the pet is maybe 10% of my dps. but I understand why this issue is greater for pve.

in pvp, we just need all pets to have useful F2’s.

in pvp we are balanced around the pet being 30% of our dps. It doesn’t even provide 5% of our dps atm. This is why they are broken for pvp.

Pretty much this. For me, in PvP, my pet tends to be 0% of my DPS because of how quickly it succumbs to AoE and cleaves on its way to its intended target.

“Returning” for items that have been in the gem store before.

But it’s really such a minor complaint, in all honesty. I know what’s not actually new to the gem store when I see it.

Is Guild Wars 1 worth getting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It’s worth it for lore and backstory but, at this point, I think that’s about it. It was crazy fun when it was new but at this point you’d probably be hard pressed to find anyone to do content with and, from my experience, henchmen/merc parties can be incredibly frustrating due to the AI.

Necessary Ranger Changes for RP Purposes

RP wise, spirits became mobile only in GW2, up to GW1 all spirits was stationary, be it ranger spirits or the ritualist ones.

What you can do is set a place of teaching and summon the spirits and later move to another place and summon them again and keep your journey.

I kinda miss the GW1 spirits which affected everything regardless of whether it was friend or foe.

The ultimate troll: Slot the spirit “Edge of Extinction” when going up against White Mantle or Bandits and laugh as your party starts dying for “no reason”.

This Beta Portal is a freaking sham....

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

I don’t understand why everyone’s getting their panties in such a bunch regarding the Beta. It’s a Beta test. It’s going to be access to a rather small section of the upcoming content and features in advance of the expansion going live in order to test for balancing issues, bugs and other erroneous problems.

Honestly, instead of stressing out or becoming incensed regarding who gets a portal or how many portals some people get or the fact that you may have not received one yet, just play the game. You may get lucky, you may not get lucky but you’re really not going to lose out on anything if you don’t.

I’m probably going to very briefly check out the Beta but not play much of it. Why? Well, because I just don’t see the point outside of testing. Everything in the Beta is subject to change and all progress on the Beta server(s) will be cleared before the expansion goes live.

There is literally no benefit gained by having access to the Beta.

Collectors Edition CBT Access

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Llethander.3972

Llethander.3972

Why?

It would have made sense if it were a Collectors Edition of HoT. But a collectors edition for the original game purchased almost three years ago should have nothing at all to do with access to HoT.

It is also worth pointing out that the Collectors Edition and the Deluxe edition probably looks identical as far as account-flags go, seeing as the in-game stuff gained from them are the same.

I agree with this post.

As an owner of the GW2: Collector’s Edition I don’t see a reason why I should be entitled to beta access to the HoT expansion when I have, for the past 2 years, gotten very, VERY good value out of my initial $150 purchase.

No thanks, I’m good.
