The differences between teams are huge because its the start of the season. It will even out eventually and the differences between teams and players within certain divisions should be small within a few weeks.

I know it isnt fun at this moment if your mmr is low. The new bonus pips during win streaks will get players like me (26-2 so far this season, solo + started yesterday) out of the way in no time tho.

Ranked matchmaking is obviously broken.

What I’m finding very odd is that I’m stuck in a tier. I get 1 pip away and lose the whole tier. I get 1 pip away and lose the whole tier. I get 1 pip away and lose the whole tier. It’s just keeps cycling like this all day long.

Divsions arent meant as a journey from start to finish. Its meant as a way to reach the division where u belong and get stuck there, untill you improve that is.

Guess u got to where u belong.

You don’t care about meta yet you ask why people run something in it. We can’t help it if you don’t like the provided answer.
Apart from the Corruptionmancer build, Mercenary is way better. The ONLY reason for people to use Wanderer is to go Curses. Other than that Mercenary is better in almost every way. People often go Spite instead of Curses for Boon Corruption and Might and Vulnerability stacking. Also, more Vit = more HP = more Life Force = more Survivability. Plus, why would someone want bare Precision without Power or passives to support it? Makes no sense. Also Wanderer does not really provide more pressure. The numbers or the skills are higher cause the duration is higher. But if something ticks for, let’s say, 1000 damage it will still tick for the exact same amount. It will just last longer (and Nightmare rune is pretty much enough for condi duration). The “damage output” or pressure are neither better or absurd just ’cause the numbers on the skills are higher.

Wanderer is fine in a proper build that supports it, but in most of the other builds Mercenary is beyond better. If anyone would want an alternative for Mercenary it would be Carrion, not Wanderer.

1] I was saying “because its on metabattle” is not a real answer. While that might be a totally perfect answer for u.

2] More vit is great. But with enfeeble/curses combined with wanderers youll have near 100% uptime off weakness on ppl that u hit. + with the extra condi pressure u force ppl to play defensive quicker.

3] Precision = for enfeeble. + u can play with on crit traits and sigils.

4] To illustrate the extra pressure ill leave the dmg òf some of our skills here for u.

Soul spiral:

Wanderers amu: 8854 dmg done over 6 secs.
Mercenary 5511 dmg done over 4.5 secs.

Chilled after fear trait

Wanderers: 2914 dmg over 5,25 secs
Mercenary 2191 dmg over 4 secs.

So thats 1.5 and 1.25 extra secs for 35% extra dmg. Whats 1.5 secs? Its nothing. Its not like u can keep 100% uptime on condis anyway. If that was the case extra condi duration would be useless, but it isnt.

Add to that that autoattack dmg from wand for example allready does so much extra dmg that u force ppl to use cleanses/heals before u use your actual condi burst rotation.

So much false information in this thread lol. Matchmaking is based on division….

So both your own team and the opposing team is based on what division you are in. Since the divisions got reset, everyone is playign with and vs everyone know. Matches are a roll of the dice atm.

No this isn’t an l2p issue. The same story is coming up repeatedly. I lost 30 in a row last night/this morning. At least one other poster cited a record of 1 for 29. Multiple other players overnight told me they had 20+ losses.

Yes, I doubt this is purely a l2p issue. Players who were diamond or legendary last season who struggle to get out of amber (soloQing) seems to be common atm.

Random ppl on the forum arent all legendary div vets…

it’s pretty funny how every good player i know has 99% winratio (how it should be in amber and emerald) and every “other” player blames the system :-D

I soloq ed to legend with a decent winratio + while playing every possible class. Stop making up excuses….texbi is right.

Ppl need to stop complaining and embrace the fact that they suck imo. I know it must be hard for most to realize this but most of us legendaries will steamroll u.

Most lower rated guys blamed their lack of succes on anything but their own lack of skill. Now u realize….u actually do suck.

Deimos…i think you misunderstand what we are saying. Your division = your matchmaking. The hidden mmr we used to have is no longer in use.

This is what ppl have been asking for. A full reset after the season. And with the removal of mmr it really is a full reset leading to lobsided matches each and every game.

If youre below average like op you will lose a lot the first few days. But it will improve every week.

MMR is still there.
just that MMR is not used to find opponents anymore.

the system finds 5 solo q players within similar pip range and similar MMR and groups them together.

then pits them against another team of similar pip range. however, it does not take the other team’s MMR into consideration.

the other team could have higher, same or lower MMR players. but similar division and pips.

Mmr is no longer used Deimos. Matchmaking is purely based on divisions. With the division reset this basicly means everyone from absolute beginners till top tier are considered equals.

So most matches right now are a toss up and based on luck. Ppl with long losing streaks however know they are below avg

I dont care about metabattle. I want an explanation, why do ppl use mercs over wanderers. The damage output difference is absurd. Defense wise the 100% weakness u get from the enfeeble trait easily outdoes the extra 4000 hp when u get trained.

To answer your question, mercs amulet is a far better choice against tempests. Thats about it. You need that power to be able to chunk them below 75% hp so your condis will stick. I typically swap to mercs amulet and take the trait that increases crit chance when striking vulnerable enemies when i see a few tempests on the other team. Also consider taking sigil of frailty on scepter for the extra vuln and condition cover.

With the old DS sure, with the new DS not so much. I actually think the extra condi pressure means you drop him below the 75% mark faster. With a proper condi overload it will take quite some time to clear with the new DS.

Even if that was indeed the case…it would be super situational. Only when fighting an ele 1v1 PLUS he has to be above 75% hp.

Can anyone explain to me why some reapers pick mercs over wanderers?

The difference in condi pressure is literally night and day. Shroud 4 dmg for example on my setup goes from 5500 to 8800 dmg.

With ènfeeble + the crit u gain from wanderers you literally have a 100% weakness uptime on ppl who train u. Which imo more than makes up for the hp loss.

So what build/setup would u use where mercs is more usefull.

You can’t really cherrypick views off twitch to mean anything, there was a semi “popular” streamer pulling in 8k views on his own today for super mario 64, twitch views don’t correlate to anything.

If the twitch viewers peaks and lows are incidental, sure. But they arent. GW2s lack of popularity on twitch is an ongoing thing. Its pretty much the least popular “big” MMO on twitch.

In a game that aims to be an esports title this is catastrophic.

Everyone within the community knows that a rated q break for this long literally destroys the quality and popularity of pvp atm.

At this very moment GW2 has 73 twitch viewers. And no, off hours are no excuse when other MMOs have 1000’s of viewers at that same moment. When games that arent even out in the west (Black Desert) have 10 times the viewers during non beta weekends. GW2 is even less popular in terms of twitch viewers than low quality f2p options like APB reloaded.

A game that could be top of the heap brought down by mismanagement. Its sad really.

You dont kill him with slickshoe and CC only. you have to prevent the whole heal with moa. Trust me I duelled the first and second best scrapper from EU serveral times to test builds

If you are killing Druids easy, you are playing against bads. Go queue pls.

Depends on what you play; a good reaper will kill all druids quite easily. Unless the druid catches and manages to keep the reaper at max range and with no deatshroud.

In teamfights druids melt vs reapers. No skill in the world can safe him. He needs a team with heavy peels…even vs a single reaper.

The guy obviously has no idea what he’s talking about. He thinks keeping a 51% win rate is like a walk in the park. And he also doesnt get the fact that as the higher you climb up the division, the harder the competition will be. So yeah you do have to be good or else you will get reked by the big boys.

In a way it gets easier once u get higher up. Since teammates tend to rotate better there is less need to carry. Where at lower end teammates sticking to 4vs2 fights in middle is quite common forcing me/ you or whoever to solo a multitude of enemies.

Good you say? Without mouse you played at 60-70% of your max potential at best. It just shows that proper rotating, positioning and knowing when to engage and when not to is more important than playing at the top of your game mechanically. So if youre talking about good in a mechanical sense….definitely not.

95% was soloq. Didnt gain anything from the few duoqs i did (pretty much won 50% and stayed at the same pip range). Queued as thief, rev, druid, tempest, scrapper, reaper, DH and one game as berserker

After that the harassments got to bad and i switched to whatever my team needed.

Druid, scrapper, tempest reaper and some thief games in between up till legendary.

Class dailies and league class meta achievements in ranked should scrapped. Common sense would tell you that people will play classes they have little skill with to get these. In the process causing 100-500 loses.

To bad these are anet devs. Their logic makes no sense to us. U couldve asked my mother and she would come up with better ways to fix pvp.

Its one of the main reasons why GW2 is such a big flop. Untalented devs.

Im 10 pips from legend and have the same issue. Legends q ing with ambers since they reached legend allready and they cant lose divs anyway. Ppl in legend / diamond range NOt dodging and standing still untill they die. Great f ing matchmaking.

If i was a Blizzard lead i wouldnt even hire anets system devs as interns. They are so sub par compared to the industry standards its unbelievable. The hilarious thing is that they actually think they are smart and the created a well thought out system.

Coming a from a guy that played online ladder games since 2003; this is literally rockbottom.

Ranked means competitive arena if you want to ha e fun with other friends please play unranked

But if u dont queue with a full five man there is a very good chance youll get matched with or versus beginners who q with higher rated friends. A diamond + amber friend get matched vs diamond or legendary.

Quite hilarious how almost all online games can find better solutions than this. Blizzard for example (u know that company with far better system devs) had no problem figuring out how to implement personal ratings.

So slowly we can see the effects if this horrible change, where ppl get matched based on the highest person on their team.

Losing due to troillish legends who cba to play to win, and play rifle warrior + their amber friend. And ofc 3 man guild teams with a mix of emerald/sapphire and 1 diamond. <- thats on par with a full legendary solo pug in anets eyes.

Result: duo and triocapping empty points at diamond + legend level. The classic; chasing 1 thief with 3. Ofcourse the not dodging at all. Or what about the run faceforward in to a 1v3 and die within 2 seconds.

All i can is thank you arenanet, for this quality change. Truely amazing.

With the new system its asurd how big the missmatches are. Had multiple games where higher rated friend teamed with random lower rated mate that ended up being heavily outmatched.

Ppl who dont dodge in diamond /legendary games etc. Funny as kitten to see but really bad for the game.
