I came back to this game after 1 month absence and spent the entire weekend working on the chain, camped at the bugged NPCs, put up with the lagfest and the Ancient Karka event. ANet has logs displaying who participated in the event, who was in the zone doing the event and who was actively participating in the event. Im certain that there has to be a list of ppl that were there. There also has to be list of ppl who did claim their rewards and so the remaining ppl on the list didnt.
Not even talking about not being able to experience the ending to an event I worked the whole weekend for, but doing something in MMO without reward is waste of my time. And ANet better make sure that I didnt waste my time doing that event or it will be the last time I played their game. And I am quite positive that this is the kind of mindset everyone who participated and didnt get he chance to get the reward has.
So public apology is nice, but I dont care much about that. I want to get my reward and I want to know that they are making steps to make sure this situation doesnt happen again.
I just want to make sure that this remains on the top of the priorities list for ANet. Many many ppl were angry and still are. I just value my time for much more than that…I aint letting this one go.

Considering the fact that it should have been implemented for launch, I thought it would have been implemented already.
Forum comunity is not representative for the player base… the real players are there playing and not posting here.
If they are not posting here, that means they dont care about the game.
Players feedback is what every mmo NEEDS to get better, improve, evolve.
Those players who dont bring their opinions to the table about the game and give devs some ideas are useless to the community.
Well ANet must have done something wrong with the patch. This place was great without pretty much any anger and negative feedback prior the weekend event.
This is only a reaction to some bad decisions from ANets/NCSofts side that erupted into this halo.
Dont blame the players, look at the cause. There must be a reason why suddenly over night ppl became so angry.
its hard to "help make these forums a more accessible source of feedback " when you feel like you are being ignored, when no matter how constructive your feedback is there is no reply to it.
I have been in Alpha testing. There you can see devs really being involved in communication, discussing stuff with players. Here on the other hand, you can only see topics being merged, deleted or ignored.
Its frustrating and ppl dont like to be frustrated and ignored, thats why you see right now so much negative feedback. There is negative feedback because ppl still care. If ppl wouldnt care, there would be no feedback.
I still consider negative feedback (constructive or nonconstructive) better than no feedback.

I have read that above lvl 10 in Fractals Ascended gear is requirement to provide you with resistance against some damage.
So as long as you are not end game player i guess you can live without it quite well. If you want to clear all content in the game however, u will HAF to get it.

Wait, are you tellin gme that you need those ascendant items to get some resist and to be even able to survive some encounters?
Or just make the events instanced. I mean thanks to the issue GW2 has you cant see more than 50 objects on your screen anyway. So why bother making 1 time event outside with hundreds of players, since you can only see fraction of it on your screen.
Make instanced events for lets say 30 players groups or something, that way ppl from all corners of the world can get together and do that one time event whenever they want during the time the event is happening (make it 1-2 days or something)
Im saying that as long as you have all timezones on one server it cant be done like this.
Im not saying there is no solution.
Other games have solution by having EU / US servers and EU players cant play on US servers and vice versa. That way you can make sure that each timezone has the event in peak time.
I believe there are many other solutions, but not in the current model and with “one time” events presented the way ANet is presenting them.
Imo, having multiple timezones on one server is just not good thing for 1 time events.
It has been discussed everywhere. As long as you can have multiple time zones in one server, and Im talking oceanic guy, US guy and EU guy on the same server, there is no solution how to make 1 time event without leaving one party out.
Even though I had a lot of positive feedback regarding the whole event, there were few bad things that ruined the whole experience for me entirely.
So even though it saddened me, I had to say that not really based on this event, but based on the EXECUTION of this event, I wouldnt recommend my friends GW2.

It doesn’t affect PvE at all so this change most likely was for WvW.
Considering that damaging AoE and buffs/boons only hit 5 people, the healing change makes sense. It was probably not intended to to unlimited healing.

Its not AOE then its multitarget heal. This is effecting PvE as much as it does any other aspect of the game. And not in a good way.
This is actually funny, cause me and one of my guild mates had argument yesterday talking about this.
I was never aware of this, not even that my damage/snare/slow spells only effect 5 mobs in the area. So if I pull 10 mobs only 5 of them i will be able to kite. I think this is beyond stupid but well, as my guildie told me (and they always end argument like this), this is GW2 its different, deal with it.
In addition to that, no spell really in GW2 can be called AOE. Its a multi target (5 in particular) spell. Real AOE spell would effect everything in the area, not just selected targets.
Dont even get me started on what happens when you have 10 players moving inside some area, someone drops damage “AOE” on them and one puts “AOE” heal there. Ppl keep moving, some are getting healed, some are dont, those who are getting dmg might not necessarily getting healed…its a bad design.
My solution would be, if there are more than 5 mobs in the area, the damage per mob would be decreased to still match the same overall spell damage output but all mobs would be affected by it, not just selected 5.
Since I see mods are lurking on the forums right now, can we please get update on this?

I am one of the players who go DCed at the end of the Ancient Karka event and didnt get my reward. The post says that the fix will not happen “today” but considering how many customers were dissatisfied thanks to this issue, I would guess fixing this is your highest priority right now.
Can we get some update on this? There are certainly some new things you can tell us regarding fixing this issue, some time frame, or what can we expect to receive as reward (Ancient Karka chest in LA that ppl who got DCed can loot and claim their rewards?).
This is not a flame post, so all those ppl wanting to say “get over yourself, lootkitten”, you can save it. I would just like to get some update on the matter and im sure as hell I’m not the only one.

People need to learn how to use “LAG” in MMO terminology. LAG has nothing to do with players hardware. Its caused either by internet connection or by the game servers. Getting NASA PC wont prevent you from lagging in big events.
Period.
And please stop giving ppl advice if you dont understand the issue. You are just confusing them and then we have the threads like “So I bought new PC for 2k bucks and the game is still lagging. BAD GAME”
You should have learnt the following:
1. A zergfest will cause lag on many computers – lag and aoe dmg results in downed players.
2. Playing as a team is more fun, rezzing people is teamwork and is good. People were playing as intended. This is a good sign in a time of change…
And you should have learnt what “lag” in MMO terminology means. You would have known that it has nothing to do with player’s computer.
Chrissle, I had no other choice but to remain dead if I in any case died, because if I tried to rez myself I got stuck in the loading screen, had to close the game and try to get in with login servers offline.
But I agree that ppl seemed useless by standing in the green goo all the time.
35 ppl did the event from my guild. 15 finished the event and got to the chest (rest got DCed or other crap) from those 15, 10 ppl got at least one precursor. I think thats a pretty high % or we are one kitten lucky guild.
Id say it like this. The event was a good idea. If it ran smoothly, it would be great. But the execution was really really bad and all the consequences werent thought through. And because of that there is such a huge mess left right now.
I hope that one tiny island is not the whole sea of sorrows. They can do so many things there, huge underwater content in the sea..i hope they will do that in the future.
Everything has to give you rewards. Thats the goal you are working towards. What type of rewards..well thats another story. Title, sure..pet, sure, some thing to show off, sure. But not something like precursor.
If people weren’t buying from the cash shop I’m sure Anet would still be rolling out updates. I just hope they can reduce lag and disconnecting next time.

Well, there’s 1 PvE map, 1 PvP map, and 1 dungeon… = 3? Or did you want 2-3 PvE, 2-3 PvP and 2-3 dungeons?
Two new jumping puzzles, new achievements, new item skins, new condition, new item rarity, new monster, new lore?
Just a little bit extra content here and there feels good enough for me. But then again, people have different expectations and different speeds of going through content.
In all fairness, I would love to see much more new item skins and new jumping puzzles.
But I must also say that I expected more. One jumping puzzle, not even map completion thing, no skill points challenges, absolutely no underwater content (even though something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows…)..
Well the fact is that nobody did have to pay anything for the this FREE content update, the 60 dollars you spend when you bought the game didn’t include this free content update so the “we paid for this” argument isn’t anything to come up with. Besides if you missed it this time maybe you will get to do the next arenanet puts out and then someone else will miss it, they can’t satisfy everyone.

Ppl who pay money every day in gem shop payed for this. The event and the update is not by any means free. It was just not payed by everyone.
Stop already with the “free game” argument. They are making more money than they would out of subscription fees. Thats the whole reason for this game model. Dont be fooled that you dont pay monthly fee. If you havent payed any money in the Gem shop, other ppl have. They pay for the updates. They pay for development of new things for this game.
The update is certainly not free. If ppl wouldnt pay for stuff fro the gem shop, there would be no update cause there would be no money to pay for it.

If u play since the beginning and have 21 lvl mesmer, what are you really complaining about? We are talking about high level content here, 80 lvl zone, this post is totally irrelevant to this whole event.
One-Time events are awesome, the only thing needed is a better solution for bringing them to all timezones.
Which aint doable when all timezones can be on one server.
The only official statement so far is this:

He did it on 3 different characters. If you tried to complete it on one character twice, the chest wouldnt open. Multiple characters = multiple rewards.
