- Harpy feathers have a cooldown of 5 seconds.
- Arah exploit fixed.
- Jumping puzzle after Belka fixed.FTFY
All seriousness, as someone who has been running path 4 going through every boss for over a month now, I wonder if this will reduce the supply of sellers of this path…
I don’t mind killing those 3 bosses, but they should fix the LFG tool abuse.
Spending time doing a legit P4 only to get kicked or merged for hours (ofc by Heitred) is not cool. Been there.I’ve yet to encounter this issue, but I also add people intelligently. No matter how many people I run with (whether 2-4), I have friends fill up until I have 4, and invite people one at a time, get money, then my friends stagger their exits from the party, one at a time until I fill up with buyers. Takes longer but once people pay you they’re kinda stuck.
Then you’ve never sold when Heitred is online. Using fillers doesn’t protect you from party merge.
Have a friend create an in-game LFG. Each customer enters that group and pays, you then invite that customer into your group. Your group never shows up on an LFG and can’t be merged with.
Of course, you shouldn’t have to go through all these hoops, but Anet isn’t going to bother to fix anything.
Anyone tested this after the Jan 21 patch?
Just be patient, the next patch will surely be epic! /s
Nerf? More like “bug fix”. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just forgot to add it in. They are human, after all.
Every single update they have stealth nerfs. They didn’t just forget to add it.
I guess reskinning the embers was too hard? This is assuming the reason they stated for the nerf is the true reason for the nerf.
I can see it now:
“But wait, there’s 3 more patches after this. You have to be patient. They’ll be epic!”
“But wait, there’s 2 more patches after this. You have to be patient. They’ll be epic!”
“But wait, there’s 1 more patch after this. You have to be patient. It’ll be epic!”
“But wait, the next LS season is coming in a few months. You have to be patient. It’ll be epic!”
- Jumping puzzle after Belka fixed.
Is this the exit out of the spider room or something else?
How are harpy feathers summons?
They’re not… but then again OP just seems to have invented stealth updates.. there’s no concrete info about anything he’s said.
Nothing invented. Harpy feathers have a cooldown now whereas they didn’t before. This was not in the update notes. Thus: stealth nerf.
They DID put this in the patch notes – It says that all player item summons now have a 30 minute cooldown to help server issues.
Learn to read
Perhaps you need to learn to read. How are harpy feathers summons?
30 minute cooldown on all pets because people are having graphical issues with embers? Why not reskin embers? Always the easy “fix.”
Making all pets have 30 min cooldown just because embers are giving problems? I wonder if they considered reskinning the embers? Looks like they took the easy way out as usual (See TA/Forward-UP).
As for the performance issues: I see performance issues when zooming in very close while blasting stealth fields, are we gonna see a 30 minute cooldown on stealth as well?
How much is Lupi buffed by the grub anway?
As usual, Anet likes to talk up their game but rarely delivers. The scavenger hunt seems to have been discarded and replaced with precursor crafting. Perhaps they couldn’t introduce enough grind into the scavenger hunt idea? Crafting, on the other hand, can easily be made ultra-grindy.
I was listening to VisualWood podcast yesterday, and it seems that Matt and WP both talked a little with ANet about future patch. Even though they made sure they won´t give anything away, but they sounded excited and said that there indeed is more to the patch than two bosses. And especially from a lore guy that WP is, it means something to me
It´s called Origins of the Madness after all
If there’s one thing Anet is good at, it’s hype and talking big. They pretty much always fail to deliver in the end.
It’s almost impossible to prove “malicious intent” although it’s obvious that noone needs 5 trebs in a supply camp. Would take something similar with a law suit – witnesses, proof, etc. You could end by banning an innocent, someone who just joined the game and knows little. They prefer to let the competitive WvWers in the top tiers deal with this by themselves.
Total BS. Someone does siege griefing more than once, it’s extremely obvious. This is not a court of law, there’s no “beyond reasonable doubt.” Anet bans people all the time unjustly in PvE only to reverse the bans later (see recent linen farm bans).
Anet just doesn’t care about WvW. The only good news is that these griefers can frequently be legitimately reported for scamming and verbal abuse (which Anet does care about) because that’s the kind of people they are.
Walljumping and exploit in dungeon was something common in the early game of last year. Not its really rare. Maybe there is more, but for now I think there is 1 in CM and 1 in TA where the boss can’t hit you, but you can. These two are pretty much the rule if you run these particular path, but other than that Anet fixed all of the other i use to know. I’m sure that there is more that I don’t recall at the moment, other that I simply never saw and other that ppl don’t found out about yet. But still its really not a big issue in the game right now and Anet will continue to fix them eventually like they did with about 100 others exploits in dungeon since the beginning of the game.
People making gold is not about exploit btw. Most of these people are good player that can solo these path faster than most pug can do the dungeon in a full group. So they reach the end of the path alone and then sell the 4 remaining place for profit. Personally, i like to actually do dungeon, but i don’t mind the practice.
For the meta, i won’t go into that. Plenty of topic about this subject.
That’s not what I’ve seen. There are still tons of map abusing exploits in the dungeons right now (Arah and AC, for example). Anet fixes at most one exploit per patch, and usually the exploit is still valid after minor adjustment.
You can tell by looking at the path selling prices. When there is a price spike downwards, that means a new exploit is being spread.
All they’re doing is splitting feature and story into separate patches because they think players get confused having both in the same patch (LOL) and that’s why players aren’t taking to the storylines. The total amount of new content (or lack thereof) will still be the same.
Wow, thanks for all the responses. Definitely helps! One of you said you can do all the Story with 3. Even Arah? CoF was tough with the 3 of us. We know our skills well enough so we aren’t noobs… just seems the final would be pretty tough.
I’ve done Arah story with 3. You should have no problem with it.
If we truly get a 10% decrease in zerker damage, then zerker is still the way to go. Fights will be a bit longer and thus you may have to learn boss mechanics a bit better, but zerker is still by far the best gear.
Yes. At least in the short term: Zerkers will less be able to afford to carry non-zerkers with this nerf.
In the long term, it’s possible player skill increases as a result of boss fights taking longer than before thus forcing people to learn game mechanics — thus allowing zerkers to carry non-zerkers once again.

Ascended gear basically forces you into a single build for the rest of eternity. Anet basically ensured that the game would get stale more quickly because of this.
The intention was not to make condition builds viable (unless this was the biggest balance fail of all time). The intention was to make zerkers have less DPS so fights are longer, so they are forced to deal with more boss mechanics than before.
They don’t come best-in-stats because exotic was supposed to be best-in-stats and Ascended gear was only later grafted into the game without much thought or effort.
If you use zerker, the base weapon damage gets boosed to around 15% because of the synergy between power, precision, and critical damage. (This is zerker pre-nerf.) It’s significant.
The weekly caps mentioned below reset on Sundays at 00:00 UTC (16:00 UTC-8).
Taken straight from the wiki. I am not sure as to exact time this is server time but it is different than what you posted. But to me it seems it is Sunday.
And I have been with guilds that have done a bounty right before Sunday’s reset and doing another after reset and gotten rewards for both.
Hopefully a Developer will respond. Thanks for taking the time to post in here it is much appreciated.
00:00 UTC on Sunday = 4:00pm on Saturday server time (which is US pacific time).
I thought about the fact that this game is going to release in china at some point and that maybe anet are just holding back on progressing the story or adding to much to the game so when it is released there they can release all the permanent content at the same time in different regions.
That’s just wishful thinking.
The LS is the best Anet can do right now. Pretty sad.
The AOE nerf is likely for technical reasons.
If they removed rezzing of completely dead, it’ll likely be a great help.
Anyway, the devs don’t appear to have any interest in this issue, and it seems most people have given up hope that they ever will.
use the “support” link at the top left of this page; on the following page, use “submit a request” to report the offenders. Most likely nothing will be done so if/when you get (after a few days) an email asking for an evaluation of their support, give them a big thumbs down.
That way you feel like you’ve done something (and it’s the best you can hope for).
Even cheaper with guild comms and WvW badges.
If it’s close to the crazy prices of he other ascended gear there will not be a reason to do it. Unless they do something drastic to separate it from the others.
They could make infusions craftable via jewelcrafting.
With the dangers of the party merging issue (and griefers using this), no one should be using the in-game LFG anyway.
I use it daily for the intended use: to get 4 more players to start a dungeon. Not to sell/get more people after dungeon is started.
That way there’s no issues with the LFG
So you never have people leave during your runs?
We now, very literally, have our gear treadmill: We grind to higher stats, and then Anet nerfs our damage down.
Anet hates GvG. The only reason the OS area exists is because of the massive furor released by that dev griefing the GvG. They think it hurts their precious failed sPvP.
Don’t expect open world GvG to ever happen.
They’re starting with the axiom that the story is great. Thus the failure of the story must be from players mis-understanding them.
Perhaps we overestimate the GW2 audience.
I think all they have to do is pop a dragon out of the end of this Living Story and there will be tons of people saying how this was the most epic, awesome, well-told storyline they’ve ever seen.
They’re actually removing waypoints in Arah (Mursaat path), so I don’t think you’ll get what you want.
What’s the point in having a huge world to explore, only to join a zerg-train in Queensdale for 80 levels? Talk about soul-crushing.
And I dunno what “peak hours” are for this thing, but I’ve never had a problem seeing more than 1 player an hour at 10pm on a friday night in any other game. Ever.
And I’m not about to give ArenaNet any more cash just to get a playable game out of this. Server population says “high”, and that is a complete fabrication. No way I’m giving these guys $20 more just to find another dead server.
After making a ranger then realizing it was riddled with year-old unfixed bugs and rerolling another class, being forced to hold the mouse button down 95% of the time, constantly failing to find groups for the dynamic events and then asking another $20 to move to a server with actual people in it? No, I don’t think so.
I’m honestly considering just throwing in the towel at this point. They only reason I’m playing is because I can really see an enjoyable game through the muck, but every time I wipe away a piece, more slop falls on to my plate.
You can guest to other servers for free (I think it’s 2 servers per day?). That might help.
In general though, you won’t see many people in lots of the zones. The game is very gold/TP oriented — it’s really hard to farm for items because the RNG is tweaked so that loot drops are generally really poor — so everyone just does the activity that nets the most gold-per-hour: champ farming or dungeons. And that means everyone is aggregated to just a few zones (Queensdale, Frostgorge Sound, for example).
As for bugs: every profession that I can think of has bugs that have been in-game for over a year. The pace of bug fixing in GW2 is glacial.
Same issue here. Ever since the DDoS attacks I’ve been getting lag spikes — some really bad.
I have the same issue as OP — ever since the DDoS I’ve had intermittent lag spikes that get pretty bad.
The doesn’t seem that point of this nerf was to make other stats more viable (it doesn’t even come close to doing that).
It looks like the nerf was to slow zerkers down in PvE content so that the party has to deal with the boss skills instead of burning down the bosses before the bosses get much of their skills off.
incoming Crit Damage nerf is because a PvE issue
Crit Damage nerf is not going to PvP, because its balanced there, says the dev.
Crit Damage nerf is going to WvW because ………………………….. ?
… because Anet considers WvW part of PvE. That’s why, for example WvW is needed for map completion and why that Living Story garbage shows up in WvW.
I honestly thought that there was some sort of gas leak that was causing them to act so giggly. On the flip side, where in the constitution does it say that they have to act professional on a twitch live stream?
nowhere. But if you’re turning off your viewers, that’s not good.
Dedicated speed run groups are no more likely to be willing to accept soldier or cleric users than they were before
They will be less likely to take non-zerkers because the nerf means they need more damage.
It looks like the purpose of the nerf is to make zerker groups deal with boss mechanics more than before by making fights longer.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the dungeon sellers and abusers of the tool ruined it for everyone else. Sucks for them, looks like they’ll have to earn their gold like the rest of us.
Not sure how dungeon sellers ruined it when dungeon selling is officially condoned by Anet.
Anyone know what the changes to swapping sigils are going to be?
Supposedly, you’ll be able to use two such sigils on the same set of gear. Will there still be internal cooldowns? I believe that’s what was preventing the use of two such sigils before.
How truly awful.
Why?
A 10% reduction in the output of Zerker builds will not make people more likely to use support builds (healing power/toughness/vitality are still bad stats that promote bad play).
It’s just going to make already tedious encounter 10% slower.
So its bad to make it so other builds are better?
This does NOT make other builds better! It makes critical builds worse. That is all! What about reducing crit damage by 10% will make inefficient stat combo’s BETTER? Do people not get this? Does the dev team not get this?
They did it to slow down the zerker sets so it’s harder on the zerkers, so they don’t burn through enemies fast enough to avoid most of their mechanics, and most likely as a way to bring the other classes up while dropping the zerker a bit at the same time. Zerker will still be king…just not by as much.
With a change as small as 10%, it seems only the borderline zerker players (those who barely make it through a boss) will see any real change in gameplay.
Everyone else (who use zerkers) will simply have runs that are 11% more tedious than before.
They should instead be putting more work into mob mechanics, groupings, and AI — but that would be too much effort, I guess.
What does “NO CHANGE IN DAMAGE FOR PVP” mean? Will they still have the critical damage trait or will it be replaced by ferocity, just with bigger numbers than in PvE?
Also, moving PvP further away from PvE is probably not the best idea.
How truly awful.
Why?
A 10% reduction in the output of Zerker builds will not make people more likely to use support builds (healing power/toughness/vitality are still bad stats that promote bad play).
It’s just going to make already tedious encounter 10% slower.
Actually 10% damage reduction means what took 10 seconds before now takes 11.111111… seconds, so you’re 11.1111…% slower.
How is this “Profession Balance” when the issue is the same across all professions?
What does “PvE crit damage will be reduced 10%” mean technically?
