Thank you! I would not have come up with this idea without you all xD I really do love how she turned out
I didn’t really think about it before… but night plants do tend to be exotic… so exotic and mysterious is definitely a good mix
Edit: I also think she’ll look great in whatever set I put her in. But I am leaning towards T2 coat, boots, and gloves (if I want to wear gloves, those will definitely be it) and probably T1 leggings. The leggings are up for debate. I like the T3 ones better… but only slight. Not enough to spend 25g on. T2 vs T1 leggings? I slightly lean towards T1. Not sure why. But it is only a slight lean and I may as well go with the cheaper pair. So basically, I am going like Morrigan, excepting the boots and gloves. I think the boots and gloves fit her theme more. Though those boots do look good.

Here she is!
It wasn’t night in the Maguuma Jungle, so she isn’t glowing, but still. I think she looks good without doing so
Also… the glow is Dusky, fyi
She doesn’t glow a whole lot on her body, but she does with her hair and face.
Note: She is an engineer mainly due to the alchemy aspect and she will mainly use Sylvari Turrets. She likes the weird of the engineers. She isn’t going to be using the flamethrower or grenades or bombs or generic turrets all that much. But she likes the shield skills and the zapping and poisoning gun. And the glue she uses is natural.
I’m not terribly fond of engineers, but I do like their alchemy aspect. I wish there were more of that with them (but then I haven’t played her too much so I can’t say).
I think she fits the look I was going for and ended up rather exotic, didn’t she? Night favoring plants do tend to look unusual
Edited: With glow! In the place that is always Night Cycle >:D

blinded by the light! How are you so shiny?
@Unique. 10/10. Love the dye and sword color scheme.
Cool pic, I like your armor dyes!
This is my warrior Anya Wulfsdottir.
Ahh, you chose the exact same color of the same headpiece I tried out first along with a similar color of hair (if not the same) and tattoo set, for that matter. That headpiece color, in particular, is tricky to match with armor sets. I give you a 10/10 for making it work. I tried all kinds of blues and shades, but I couldn’t figure out a good way to make it work to my satisfaction and ended up changing my Norn’s hair to the curly ponytail (accessory-less). Love the name, too.
scurries off to get an epic picture of her Norn
Picture of the final look coming soon! I will update this post with it. Thanks so much for your input!
I got 8/8 but it didn’t count towards A Sweet Friend…
She is lovely! What armor colors did you use?
1st set: blackberry pattern.
2nd set: purple pattern
both: Dusky Glow, Light Lichen Skin.
Keep in mind, it should go with a Darkness colored fern hairstyle. Which do you think?
I am kinda leaning toward the second. Do you think it fits the goal? Of blending sort of a frosted night look with dawn?
I would like it to either a) be clarified on what the achievement actually counts or b) count any participation in the activity like the daily “activity participation” achievement where you basically just have to show up.
Edit: I get it now. You don’t need to be top 10… you just have to score points on the team on which you are at the end. So don’t be the last villager to get killed. And score points whichever team you are on. So that means fear or trap or kill something as a Courtier. It makes sense to me. It is a little annoying that participation counts only for the team you are on at the end, though.

I am still making over an engineer, I am just trying out looks on an extra character slot. I figure I see a bit more of the pattern with the scholar armor set and I enjoy playing them more for the beginning sequence. I just seemed to accidentally make a good Mesmer look xD I think I will at least go medium armor next time though when previewing.
Yeah, I am still going with that theme.
Next I will try the blackberry pattern with Light Lichen and that third face and a dusky glow. Maybe that will turn out well… I will probably also try a more silvery-white color.
What do you think of this look? Imagine her with Darkness fern hair.
Though I like the pattern, I think I might just stick with the darker hands/feet pattern. It would give her a bit more “darkness” perhaps fitting night better. Thankfully I was able to capture glow in this set of pictures too.
(edited by Lorelei.7809)
I tried white glow, Chill skin tone, and I think Indigo for a pattern option. I will update this post with further images of further experiments. I am thinking about going with a different pattern than that one since you can’t really see the purple.
The second and third images are the second try. What do you think about it? I think it’s the perfect Mesmer look… It is the same pattern as my Mesmer but I do really like it. I used Frosted skin tone, Blackberry Pattern and Dusky glow.
My third try is thus: Light Lichen skin tone, Dark Pine pattern, Dusk glow.
What do you think of the faces? I am not sure which pattern is best. And which skin tone do you think is best, along with which pattern color? I am kinda leaning toward the purple themed skin tone. I like that blackberry color. Maybe I should try blackberry with light lichen? And what about glow? I know these pictures don’t have glow in them, but suggestions on that?

I think if a guy can have a scar over his nose, so should a female plant. I think differentiation between them should be minimal. After all, plants are asexual. I think knots would be neat in place of scars.
For the bandanna one, keep in mind, you’re working with a mop top of leaves. You could have thorns or vines or something for the bandanna, but I am not sure what would work well for the leaves. Maybe have the leaves kinda like the mohawk leaves? Similar issue with the first one. #2 seems way too hair like. I am not sure you would get the aesthetic you are looking for if it were transposed to leaves. Do you have any ideas for #2 in terms of leaf-style? Perhaps a grass? Or dred-like cat-tails? I like the fourth though. Though perhaps it is too close for bald?
It is a fun challenge trying to work with how plants would behave in nature and create a particular aesthetic out of it!
I like big ’n tall norn. But I know someone who made his Norn short and smaller build because otherwise he felt his Norn would be too big and bulky to feel right as a Ranger.
It is up to you… what feels right to you stylistically.
I personally think smaller build and short Norn ladies are a bit too human. Mine are both the tallest height.
best (in no particular order):
The Bazaar (labyrinthine cliffs), Mad King, Super Adventure Box, Flame and Frost, Wintersday.
Worst:
Clockwork Chaos, Queen’s Jubilee
The others I am neutral towards. I didn’t like the farming and there were many issues with the gauntlet for me. I like stuff that includes permanent content. I like just plain fun. A good story is also good. I really felt like Flame and Frost was the way to go with developing a storyline for a Living Story. It was the event that really, to me, felt most like a living story. The other plot points feel jarring in comparison. I mean, Scarlet pops out of nowhere. Same with the aetherblades. And there was a bit of a mystery with Flame and Frost at the beginning as we didn’t know what was causing the issues. I really liked the mystery of it and enjoyed following the story with Rox and Braham.
Why not do a compromise? It is a game after all.
The compromise would be thus: Keep a playable “history” of the events in something like the Scrying Pool of GW1 was to Eye of the North. And say something like you’re “reliving history.” Don’t give much in the way of shinies (if any) for it. But this way, people won’t come into the game lost why in the world things are happening the way they are. Example: I missed the dragon bash content which started the aetherblade thing (from what I’ve heard). I come in the game and wonder why there are these aetherblades and where did they come from? Seriously… can’t Tyria have a newspaper or storytellers or something to catch up people to plot points that they missed? It obviously doesn’t have to be all the content, just catch people up on the key plot points.
This way, people who make it to the content can feel unique (as they have played all the content, as evidenced by their shiny loot, not just the story part) and people who didn’t make it to the content can at least catch up plot-wise and play a small instance of it so they don’t feel like they missed out on Tyrian history.
re: real life: people don’t want a game to work like real life. It’s a fantasy game. A lot of people play them to escape real life to a certain extent.
Aw, that’s too bad. Still so cute…
Does it go, “OoooOooo”? I am debating on whether to buy it. It is debatable if it doesn’t talk/(other effects?)… it is not debatable if it does XB
I personally really appreciate Kristen Perry’s attention to detail. Regarding the fruit, the idea of principle vs fashion (with the hairstyles being similar or different between the genders), etc.
Plants aren’t always beautiful and symmetrical, however. There are flowers that are certainly symmetrical. Some plants have symmetrical leaves. Some have alternating leaves… but think of trees that have asymmetrical knots. Or vines that hang asymmetrically. The asymmetry is a reminder of the disorder of nature. And you can certainly make a tree-like Sylvari. And if you’re trying to make a more tree-like Sylvari, a flower-like beautiful face is not going to look as good. There is a ton of variety in nature… the more variety the merrier, I say.
@Morrigan good idea. Hmm, inverse of what I have now sounds intriguing. Thanks for the tip on the eyes, I will certainly watch that.
@Reesha: I like that face… with the thorns on it, I think it fits the theme I’m going for. I think it’s a nice inbetween of the asymmetric bark-type faces to the more human-like faces. Maybe a darker skin tone or a colder purple for the hair… Hmm…What if the pattern color were reversed with the skin color?
I like the challenge myself… I figured I may as well go all out though now that I have a makeover kit (Got one via the 5000 point achievement award) and Sylvari are best to change, look-wise (it at least feels like you have fewer options with the other races) so it feels like I’d get more out of the kit (more things changed, more worth it the kit is… I’d not feel so good if I’d just changed tattoos on a Norn, for example).
Edit: based on some fooling around for light skin tone options (though my textures are funky, the color I can get an idea of)… For the skin tone itself, maybe a color like chill or frosted. Along with that purplish color. For pattern options, greens like Morrigan suggested that I think might work well would be olive and moss. Blues would be Dark Blue and Ultramarine. I came across the colors Indigo, Blackberry, and violet in the purple family, going along the lines of what Reesha suggested (a bit darker purple). Blackberry seems like it might work really well with Chill skin tone and Darkness hair color. For hair colors, of the dark sort, that would be Darkness, Deep Turquoise, Black Sea, and Azure Night that caught my attention. In the middle would be Dusty Grape and on the light side would be Clear Sky, Spring Dew, Turquoise, Mist, and Ceylon that caught my attention. Glow colors that could be options: white, irisette, violet, dusky, mint, sky, streamlet, robin, and pale pink (though I’m leaning against keeping pale pink). I’ll have to mess around further… Input on any of those combinations would be appreciated!
Next time I go in, I’ll mess with darker skin tones and see what catches my eye when I’m working with them.

It depends on why you chose Norn as your first race.
If you think they rock ‘cause they’re big ’n tuff, then you should probably roll a Charr. And since you like to go against the grain, maybe a smaller, “nicer” looking kitty. Or maybe a Guardian Charr.
If you like the fantasy-style lore and dialogue and you “don’t want tech in your fantasy” and/or like the Norn in part because you like nature and they revere the animal spiritsthen you should roll a Sylvari.
Roll a human if you like the same (you are a human, after all). If you want to make a character that looks like you. Or if you’d just feel more immersed as a human. Maybe you played GW1 and want to stick with the same race because you have an awesome name and you want your character to be a descendant.
Roll an Asura if you like “magitech”. Or maybe you think it would be totally awesome to have your own lab. If you love science. If you love to roleplay the “mad scientist” type.
Profession: Why’d you choose Warrior? ’Cause it fits the Norn? ’Cause it fits your playstyle?
Guardian seems to me, to be a natural fit for a warrior type to try to play second. Thirdly I’d say engineer. Elementalist I’d say if you’re willing to go through the pain of leveling them up (super high damage).
Edit: Personally, my favorite races are Norn and Sylvari. Then Asura. Then humans, then Charr.
Thanks a lot. Going to update the OP now with the new information you requested
She is a very pretty Sylvari. Hmm….
I was just thinking I like the idea of a Spanish Moss beard for Sylvari guys (probably going on a more, knotted, barkish face), but honestly… why couldn’t there be a female face with it also? As they are plants, maybe a lady would like to grow a “beard”. What would be cool would be to see bark “knots” also involved in design.
It would also be kind of neat to have some tendril off-shoots of the face. imagine a tendril that comes off from where an eyebrow would be.
And these ideas are partly why I like the idea of a very branchy sort of hairstyle like the oaken armor. But perhaps the twisty branches could have something else involved either leaves or blooms or vines.
She reminds me of the epitome of Fall… beautiful Sylvari.
I will post pics…. but right now I’m running the game on Linux so textures don’t update well. I’ll post what does update well and my current look soon, though. I’ll get on a windows computer soon and take some pictures of some of my ideas inspired by y’all later this week. Unfortunately, skin color/pattern doesn’t update very well, but hair and faces do. And I believe even glow updates well.
Thank you all so much for the ideas! Keep ‘em coming, too! I’ll try and get a pic at least of my current look in this thread today and update the OP.
@Morrigan: That’s a really neat idea to represent the moon. I wonder if I could go light-skinned instead of dark-skinned also? hmm…. I really do like that dark purple also.
@Marquie Thomas: That is a really cool look with the white fern hair. I also like how he’s staring down the monster in the second pic xD Midnight Ice looks great in that hairstyle, too.
(edited by Lorelei.7809)
I really like the look you chose
I don’t have a spare character slot, unfortunately. Though I may soon get one
Part of my problem is that I thought I liked the look I had, but then it ended up a bit too much with just the “midnight green” color. Not a whole lot of her white pattern shows. And her “frosted” look isn’t indicated anywhere else. Her glow is white, but you know, in daylight, you cannot see it. Which then she ends up looking a bit dull.
Sylvari are by far the hardest for me to decide on looks for because they have so many lovely combinations!
Maybe have some updates only doable if you finish your living story? I remember in GW1, you had to complete stories to get to War in Kryta to get to other steps in “Guild Wars Beyond”. Basically: give a reason to finish the personal story.
I appreciate the more permanent direction the later updates have gone in. I don’t feel rushed to complete the new content and I feel like I can enjoy the older content now. I haven’t even gotten to Zhaitan in my personal story on a single character (I’ve been playing since release and have 2 level 80s), in part, due to the Living Story.
I’d also like more home instance additions from doing living story content (thank you soon-to-be candy corn and crystal nodes). But I’d like some stuff other than nodes. Like NPCs and perhaps trophies.
This is sort of an odd request, but…
I have a Total Makeover kit that I’d like to use on my Sylvari Engineer, Fría Nox, meaning “Cold Night”. Oddly, I have her as a Dawn Cycle. Maybe early dawn? Either way, I wanted her to have a “frosted night” sort of look to her. Maybe I can indicate the dawn some way? I’m willing to pretty much re-make her. I have her skin tone as a really dark green now. Maybe I could go with a dark purple? Or at least dark purple hair?
I’m thinking about going with the fern-style hair. Though I could be persuaded for the pinecone. If any Sylvari gets the flower, it’ll be my Mesmer.
Any ideas on the best way to pull the look off? And, even better, what medium armor would go well with it? Pictures are always welcome!
Edited for pictures!
The first 3 are how she looks now. The latter two are with that purple unique color in two of the three new ‘dos. I don’t think I could make the flower work and I think I already have a Sylvari that would go with that better… If I make a third Sylvari, she’ll be heavy armor and tree-like. My Mesmer is more foresty/flowery. I’d like this one to be in the middle of those two “extremes”.
I really like her white eyes, particularly with her skin tone, but I’m not even sure I’d dislike them with a light skin tone. hairstyle? Definitely up for grabs. I find her hair color a bit too dark. Particularly when she’s not glowing (and when she’s fully covered in armor! Then I can’t see her white on her skin pattern, so she looks very dark). I want either a night or early dawn feel. That purple color that’s unique to the kit is very nice. The face is up for grabs, also. I’m thinking perhaps less human. Skin pattern and tone not totally sold on. Though I think the white might be nice in reference to the moon. At least for her glow, if not her pattern. Maybe her pattern color could reference more the early dawn phase. Or maybe at least her glow should… but I think one of the two should be referencing the moon. I made “Cold Night” a Dawn Cycle on accident XB So I kinda want to reference both, if possible.
(edited by Lorelei.7809)
Well, there are some really unusual forest-style plants. It does make sense not to have seaweed. Perhaps there is a vine that would give that feel. Thanks for the info!
What about a long, seaweed style hair? Maybe have some of it drape over the shoulder, also. There are lots of different types of seaweed, also. It could also potentially give an aquatic plant-type look. Though I’m not sure that would make sense given they’re fruit of a land-dwelling tree.
Edit: I like the idea of the “in-between” of pretty and creature, as it were. If I make another character or completely re-do one, I think I’ll go for less of a pretty face and more for an “in-between”. I think it’s just hard to balance the in-between and people tend to gravitate to “pretty” faces for similarity and “creature” faces for either playing the “evil” character or for being different. But that’s just my opinion.
(edited by Lorelei.7809)
How do you obtain that helmet, then? That is a great, branchy hairstyle, in the OP.
Regarding the over the knee thing… The only set I see a difference in for Light armor is the Honor of the Waves set? And for that set, I like seeing the Norn knee, it shows off the thigh muscles. And it’s also a very very slight difference.
If you get Norn cultural or Honor of the Waves, it’s not as bad, with the exploding thing.
My norn begs to differ.
Yeah, out of that set, that one is probably my favorite. Love how your Norn looks with it!
First of all, I’d like to see the Anise armor like you mentioned.
Others I’d like to see:
The lady’s set here: https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/human-02.jpg
The Raven set here: https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Mesmer_011.jpg
The set in the chaos storm video:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/mesmer/
Yes, I love mesmer armor. There’s a reason the Mesmer’s armor from GW1 won out the HoM challenge for light armors…
I might just buy the raven set (which means I’d buy a character slot so that I could have a Norn caster) and I’d definitely consider buying the Anise set. And I’d work for that set on that human NPC for my human necro.
8/10 I like the sound of both, but they don’t have a double-vowel or consonant. I like the idea behind the Mesmer’s name.
Nanooxa From a joke name suggested to me in GW nano ox…. and from there I made Nanooxa in GW and continued the tradition in GW2
Isn’t the dragon titled something like Dragon’s Shadow? Keep in mind, that dreams are interpretive… But you do certainly get a “fight the dragon” vibe out of it.
I personally think it’s good it uses the skintone for the front leaves… it can make the flower “pop” a lot more. I do find that certain skin tones look a bit more “odd” with it, though. For example, a nice green shade for the skin tone would look great with just about any flower color. More exotic violets and blues probably look great, along with browns, too. You could even inverse that with having the flower be green and the skin/leaves be pink/blue/purple/etc. I also really like that the edge of the leaves matches the petals. However, I do find the “gray” skin tone, and perhaps even more “white” type skin tones to look more “odd” with the front leaves. Basically, I think it doesn’t work as well with the more “neutral” and/or “human-esque” skin tones. however, the fern and pinecone seem to work with just about anything. But I think it says something about the uniqueness of the style. The branches style uses the skin tone for them, also right? I think the branches would look odd if they didn’t… And those have a bit of a preference for a more brownish type skin color, going for a more bark-type look.
I think the flower style is fantastic. If I had a permanent hair style kit, I’d alter between it and my current hair on my Sylvari Mesmer. As it is, I’m keeping my hairstyle. I’d rather use my makeover kit on my other Sylvari.
Not sure if I classify us as a WvW guild, but we do like to go in there sometimes. We do a bit of everything. sPvP, PvE, WvW, dungeons, etc. The main thing we don’t really run is fractals. We’re a smaller guild, but we’re working on getting a decent amount of people active. We’re definitely not exclusive to new members and I’d love another Mesmer in our guild! We also don’t have an ele or a thief leveled up (I’m intending to level ele next).
No reqs to join our guild. Only req is willing to have some fun and perhaps do things in a more unorthodox manner.
PM here or in-game if you’d like to try us out or want more information.
Good luck with the guild search! Hope you find a good fit
Our server is active…. our guild (Masquerading Synesthetic Feux [MaSF]) is… working on it. But we can definitely help you out. If anything, what we do best is helping people out with the game. We’re close knit, so we’re very willing to help our new guild members level, learn the game, etc such that we can have more people on consistently.
Regarding voice chat, we actually have a teamspeak, but we mostly communicate through text.
I want us to become an active guild, but minimal in number. I don’t want to manage 50 people. As it stands, we have 15, but only about 5 are active and representing. I’d like to get a good 10 people consistently active. At least that’s my first goal. If you’re willing to help us build, I think we could be a good fit for you. We’re on at night during the weekdays, we’re on during the weekends… we’re primarily EST and central.
We can try and show you WvW, but… we’re a fun, and a bit crazy, guild. We often go into WvW with the intent of subterfuge. We’re willing to answer questions and help out though. We also don’t do dungeons normally. We’re used to 3-manning dungeons in GW and we 3-manned AC story before they updated the no res-rush thing. Right now we only have 4 people that really can group up easily. I’d like a 5th. So long as they can handle unorthodox strategy. We don’t tend to “go by the meta.”
Edit: We’re on Gate of Madness (we thought it most fitting our mentality).
Feel free to PM on the forums or in-game.
yeah, biggs, I certainly agree with you. However, I do hope that they add other Ascended Armor options. It is worth pointing out issues people have with the set. I think the issue people have is how hard they have to work to get them, and then they end up looking either OK or bad on the character (particularly non-humans). I would definitely have to transmute the set. It would also go on my Mesmer first (maybe only). Which is a Sylvari. And I want to keep her in leafy armor sets. I don’t love the T3 set, but that is probably the set I would transmute the Ascended set to. I’m intending to get the Nightmare set and I already have the T2.
Actually, I think the majority of peoples’ problems is that it looks best on humans (arguably just best on human females) and looks awkward, silly, or clippy on other races. Of course, in Guild Wars, I thought Obsidian armor looked the worst and it was the most prestigious set. But… All elite sets had the same stats. So basically, it wasn’t the only one of its type. Maybe we should get Ascended cultural armors? As in.. a Tier 4. I think another frustrating thing is that people see amazing NPC armor that they would love to be the ascended set. It’s already in the game… but it’s not available (the Countess Anise set, Raven set, a nice Sylvari NPC set…). And they feel like the new set is much less attractive. But it’s the option for Ascended armor. Plus, you have to buy transmutation crystals. And, people often want to show off their accomplishment (which transmutation crystals would nullify). I’m honestly not sure it would be that instantly recognizable either.
Sounds like we might work out well for you. We fully understand RL can be hectic. I’ve got work and school too. We’re small, but we’re working on growing to be able to run dungeons with 5 people on the weekends… Yeah, we’re that small. We’re getting there, though.
We’re very laid back and willing to help. Just be cool with us and it will work out for you.
We aren’t all that super active either… so it will be quiet. And you may not find anyone on when you’re online. But we are trying to grow, so if you’re willing to work with us it could be a real benefit. PM in game or on here for more information if you like.
I try to get online every day as the guild leader.
First of all: Thank you Kristen Perry for your amazing Sylvari styles! My main issue is that I wish there were more options (which, thankfully, you’re fixing)! But then again, I love the design I have. I looked at the new hairstyles and still kept my current look because I think the original design I chose was great! They’re just a lovely race, design-wise. On one of my Sylvari, though, I am considering that fern, long ponytail hairstyle.
Regarding Maple leaves: What if they were clumped onto branches? Maybe have a pig-tail or afro sort of look to them? I suppose they could potentially hang down near their ears like “earrings”
Regarding vines: There are a few ways to go with them, I think.
For one, there are the rope-types, that would twist around each other. This could give a dredlock or braided sort of appearance. Braids made of thick vines would look really cool!
For the thin, curly type vines, they probably look best twisting around something and/or hanging off of something. What if there were curly vines that hung down as tendrils in the front, but they twisted around branches (or a pinecone like structure) in the back to give sort of a “formal up-do” type look. You could also add a flower or more to this look. Also, I suppose you could twist them around just about anything or even braid them while still having some stray curly tendrils.
There could also be the look of “hair down” with a more leafy type vine, likely with flowers in it, too. Kinda like the fern, except the leaves would be bigger, and there would likely be some flowers interspersed.
What about a viney headband?
Long Grasses: I noted that someone said they could appear human… one way to reduce the human appearance would be to add something like the cat tails in Caithe’s appearance. Certain grasses have really unique endings to them that could be cool. I would look into more unusual styles of grasses.
Weathered leaves: Sounds like a really neat idea. Perhaps have them on twisted branches.
More flowers: Absolutely! I note that human and Norn stykitten th have flower options, but oddly enough, there isn’t really a “leaf style” with a blooming flower in the midst of it (except perhaps now the new one). I would like to see things like trumpet- and bell-flowers involved. I consider Sylvari a very unique plant, so the more unique the flower, the better(IMO).
Regarding fruit… I don’t think Sylvari need fruit to look great. And then you don’t have to worry about the anatomical question.
Keep up the great work! The new (and old) styles look great!
On another note… I love the Heavy armor helm. I’m not sure it should be put as a hairstyle, but a twisty branchy hairstyle would be cool.
I like it 9/10 (I just can’t seem to give people 10s on just about anything so…). I don’t really know why, but Quinton Birch seems to just work well.
Maharet Masika (means daughter of the earth, born in the rain) is my Mesmer’s name
I know they’re only supposed to have one name, but… I couldn’t get Maharet by itself and I find the name meanings nicely fit in with Sylvari. After all, if Masika just means she was born in the rain, it’s almost a title or just a time indication.
Fría Nox is a name I gave to my Sylvari Engineer carried over from GW1. Fría (feminine spanish, meaning cold) Nox (latin for night). I made her cycle of dawn though :/ Maybe early dawn? :P
It’s alt-friendly… for the most part
The further along you get in the end game, the less alt-friendly it is, from what I can tell (map completion, I think you need to spend a large amount of skill points from one character for something for legendaries, WvW rank, (and ascended gear?)).
Leveling up is amazingly alt-friendly though. Crafting thankfully is now alt-friendly and the shard currencies are wonderful.
It is certainly more alt-friendly than GW (excepting the dye system, which… is still arguably better than in GW as you permanently unlock the dye). Achievements and titles are wonderfully (excepting map completion) account bound.
I had a lot of complaints in GW… now being an alt-aholic in my group is actually advantageous for me (it certainly does not hurt, and being able to get high-level loot with a couple characters is nice, plus I can fill in different roles in groups need be as I have 2 level 80s as opposed to 1). I’m patient for my legendary and/or ascended gear so… I am content.
The armor sets are a bit busy for my taste. The Light Armor is OK. The Medium Armor is OK. I do not like the heavy armor set. WAY too busy no matter which way you work it for me. The only character I might keep in a set would be my human necromancer (I think I still slightly prefer the HoM set, but that is one of the better human scholar sets I have seen). I don’t think my Norn Ranger, Asuran Thief, or Sylvari Engineer would look good in the medium armor. If I had a human medium armor, I would probably keep them in that set. I would not touch that heavy armor on my Charr and Norn (nor on a human if I had a heavy human). I like showing my Sylvari Mesmer’s skin pattern (or at least having a glowing armor like Twilight Arbor which I can further adorn with a flower backpiece nicely), so the light armor is a no-go on her. Might look OK on my Asura Ele though. Not sure.
Note that I would only use the appearance for human characters. Too many curly-cues/too busy for Norn, too busy for the already-busy Sylvari appearance (and, I prefer leaves on my Sylvari, not cloth), nothing special for Asura, and seems to me would look awkward to bad on Charr.
I would love Countess Anise’s set, Raven Acolyte set, Bear Acolyte, Wolf Acolyte, Snow Leopard Acolyte set… I just might buy those sets if they were sold in the Gem Store. And please, more nature-y sets for Sylvari and/or Norn. If I have to buy myself a stylish leafy set from the Gem Store or a Acolyte set for my Norn, I would be happy to do so.
Can’t there be a nice, simple cloth set that looks elegant on all races? Not too frilly for Norn or awkward on other non-human races? Or, that not being the case, maybe add ascended cultural armor? Which, yes, it is work to make new sets (and there would be more than 6 new sets), but why not reuse NPC sets that are awesome that players cannot currently access?

I would. Then I would try and improve the soil/land/etc. Have some vegetation there. There has to be some way to either import soil or plant magic to get things growing there.
I really like the idea of Ascalon City being rebuilt as an open city for both races.
I like how I caught the sword in mid-air in the first photo.
The second is an action photo
I thought the third one turned out well.
I tried to make her look nice a nice, sweet kitty xD As nice as a Charr can get at least
I kinda like them. They at least add a different flavor to what already is there. Of course, I am not changing either of my norn ladies’ hairstyles, but I do think they add some nice variety. I kinda like the one with the three ponytails for some flair. I love the updo for casters. And the other one is elegant, but yet big and epic and long.
Wow. She looks amazing. Those are Braham shoulders and gauntlets?
Sigh. I definitely will need to get lots o’ gold for my T3 fund! The shoulders do look great with the hat… I will have to consider that.
I would really like to see more “non human-based” armor sets. There are only 4 leafy armors in the game for any Sylvari character to obtain. There are only 4 “Norn-based” armor sets in the game for any particular Norn to use. IIRC it’s the same for Charr and Asura. But for humans…. there are countless armors. All the crafted armor is blatantly human-based.
