Can’t wait to see the new precursor skins. I seem to recall people suggesting a weapon skin that eventually “Evolved” into a legendary, and this sounds pretty similar to that (with a precursor being an imperfect version of the legendary). Pretty hyped.
I think somone missunderstood my first post. It just feeols like my entire journey is worthless until I am level 80 and have put 10’s of hours into dungeons then? I don’t want to mass destruct one area, i just want to feel that every level I do is worth it, I want to feel it.
You all might hate me for taking this as an example. But if any of you have played Runescape? Did you ever feel the joy and the slighest stronger for every Strength level you aquired? And the game was built so that you could feel it within your enemies. In Rs2 I used to love my maxed character because I felt like e Demi-God, yes low level NPC was easy but i still has many threats even at max level, but you did atleast feel like a max level.
Even after 54 levels I feel the same, do you who read this understand my point now? Maybe this game isnt for me, and don’t think I want GW2 to be Runescape, it was just an example!
Once you get to 80 and have a full set of exotic armor, assuming you go with Berserker’s gear and not some craptastic healer/tank set, you’ll be able to one-shot or two-shot most low level mobs. That’s because scaling lets you keep bonuses from your armor, and those are pretty significant at max level. So keep on truckin’
If you had exotics before you left, you’re already caught up on gear. The good thing about gw2 is you can leave and come back, and still be at gear parity (at least in theory, ascended threw a bit of a wrench into that)
What about unannounced changes? We can never tell when a change is intentional or not because anet is so against including 90% of the things they do in the patch notes.
I doubt that charr standards of seduction would even match our own. For all we know, a charrs attractiveness could be measured by size of the horns, with no merit being given to the outfit at all.
Flame axe has the advantage of being a total hipster ele weapon, as the summon that nobody ever uses, and is wayyy better for style points than the mainstream ice bow.

Exactly this ^
Some of the more…hm… prominent members of the community would probably feel the wrath of unhappy casuals/trolls. The PHIW/anti-zerker mentality is, I feel, still more prevalent than the meta, and it’s perpetrated by some of the angrier people on the forums IMO.
My other concern is that this tool will be used by too small a fraction of the community to make a difference. In another MMO I played with a player-run rating system, most people had at most 5 or 6 votes. Now, the population in that game was significantly lower than gw2’s, but I feel as though not enough people will rate positive experiences, while people peeved at someone not listening to them or refusing to use subpar pug tactics from months ago WILL rate them negatively, skewing the ratings.
Nope, not at all what what I was told, in fact, from what I hear you would brush off any feedback with angry deflections towards the other players and anet’s “necro hate”, no matter how softly/politely you were reminded and kept on doing your own thing. So you know where you can shove your lies about you being “completely open to communication.” Uncooperative and aggressive players get kicked, it’s as simple as that.
And if I have to choose between believing an openly abusive player with anger management issues and well-balanced, genuinely kind guildies who have never given me reason to doubt their word, I will certainly believe the latter. All you’re doing with your angry rants is proving that we’ve made the right call.
P.S. I personally saw that the speed signet was on for multiple fights, and even for skipping trash it’s unnecessary because we always blast swiftness anyway. Though maybe you didn’t know that swiftness and speed signets don’t stack, mr “highest possible level”
Id like to join, got lvl 80 mes/guard/war/thief i’ve run most dungeons but ive been doing nothing but pugging fractals for the past few months so i might need a refresher on some speed run tactics but in def willing to learn and am totally down to changing traits/ utilities as needed
Hey that sounds great, flexibility is definitely something we value. I’ll be sure to send you an invite at some point later today, so keep an eye on your guild tab!
The conditions dont need to be capped. You just need 10 unique conditions. So its not exactly hard to get close to max iWarlock damage in a 5 man group.
I thought I covered that with “all” but I guess I wasn’t clear enough.
Regardless, I don’t think anyone seriously considers staff mesmer as a viable damage build =>
edit: staff ele to staff mesmer, kitten
(edited by Lorgus.6148)
Mesmer doesn’t have a good burst, but her damage isn’t that bad either. Mage Strike is iWarlock’s auto. I might or might have not Undead sigils on my weapons.
Yep, iWarlock hits for 13k on an open world boss with approx. 100 other players capping all conditions on him. Looks like mesmer isn’t bad damage after all guys
Hey Syndiate,
If you’re serious about learning to do speedruns, willing to run zerk gear and are flexible with your traits and weaponset, then Tarnished Cult could be right for you.
We’re a dungeon-oriented guild that formed through a dislike of pugging and a desire to learn and apply speedrun tactics in a friendly setting. We don’t take players who rage at guildies or have consistently negative attitudes, nor do we accept players who refuse to deviate from one setup when the party clearly needs them to run something else ( a thief refusing to take pistol offhand over d/d for trash blinding in fotm 50 or arah, for instance ).
We do ask that our members represent us as their main guild, as close as they can to full-time, with exceptions being made for members with side wvw guilds or guild banks. We also pvp as a guild from time to time, but dungeons have and will remain our main focus for the forseeable future.
We have a rank system based entirely on merit, so if you’re looking for a guild that recognizes skill, a positive attitude and knowledge of game mechanics, you will find that we’re a great fit

Serves you right for not rolling a human female masterrace
Only kidding, but it does seem like a simple change to the size of a weapon to depend on a certain percentage of a character’s height would do it.

+1 on Temporal Curtain fix and general utiltity improvements to mesmers and necros.
Although I don’t agree with you the comment that mesmer utility is overshadowed by guardian or thief, at least not in an optimal setting. There’s a reason the majority of records for various explorable paths are set by parties with at least 1 mesmer in them (http://gw2dungeons.net/Records), the utility of portal is tremendous in this setting and cannot in any way be replaced by a guardian or a thief.
Now is mesmer utility lower than guard/thief utility/carrying potential in an average pug? Certainly. But in the average pug run they worship warriors as the “holy grail of dps” and the average pug mesmer doesn’t know where the feedback button is, let alone the timing for when to use it.
OP, where did you hear that from? I don’t recall anet saying anything of the sort…
I’d cover the difference if I lowered the price, when I used to sell. Nobody asked for their gold back, though I wouldn’t have a problem returning it if a buyer changed their mind :>
I asked the expert, and here’s what he had to say
I think you lost an “x” :X
Working as intended, Anet’s giving us the challenging pve content we’ve always wanted
Well done! Ele certainly isn’t the easiest class to do the new lupi on, props to you OP
Here’s a better list for everyone complaining:
1. Alt+f4
Pretend no gearset other than zerk exists. Even if you die a lot on your first couple/hundred/thousand runs, depending on how fast you learn, you WILL eventually reach a point where you are comfortable enough in zerk gear that anything else will seem unnecessary, both in pugs and guild groups.
It’s for one day guys. I’m honestly baffled by how readily people will complain about ANYTHING around here.
Tobias, you ran a necro with staff and speed signet in dungeons, of all things, so please don’t say that you play to “the highest possible level” :/
MrChiefem, while I personally was not present for the little tantrum you threw in gchat, when I asked the other guildies that I was considering kicking you based on the many complaints I received, the general response was “mrchiefem? kitten that guy.” If you’ve managed to antagonize so many of our members, then I’m baffled at the fact that you fail to see the problem with your, as you put it, “attitude”
Honestly I don’t find it more fun for him to be like this.
Lupicus’s level of difficulty was perfectly adequate before the update but now it’s going to be terrible for anyone new to him to learn to fight him. Despite whether or not anyone here enjoys challenging themselves I don’t see why this boss in particular needs this much of an upgrade as opposed to many of the other bosses in Arah.
Either way it’ll probably be reverted soon.
It just baffles me how many unintended dungeon related problems surface every single time a small patch comes about, like wtf.
This type of situation would be perfect for a “hard mode” option though
wink wink nudge nudge.
I agree though I don’t think Lupi needed more difficulty and I know I probably can’t solo him right now, nor would I really have the patience to even try to learn.
Too bad that anet considers “Hard mode” unfavorable as it would “split the community”, when in reality it would make both the more casual players and the more hardcore ones happy.
People who complain about lack of diversity are the same ones who never change their weapons or builds mid-run. If they think they lack diversity, they have only themselves to blame
Thank you for letting us know you’re working on it. Hopefully you can also look into the various dungeon bugs that this patch has introduced as well.
Crafting is a gold sink in this game because it provides the benefit of granting up to 10 levels’ worth of exp per crafting profession. The results of this crafting will never sell for more than the base products as long as crafting gives a reward besides the end product.
Got 4 more today, items that used to stack in the bank now demand their own stack.
Yep, can do the hack-a-stack by putting them all in inventory, logging out, logging back in and stacking.
I somehow felt that problem had been fixed, but some of today’s items were the scroll’s of knowledge, which are once again unstackable.
This should be a trivial item to fix permanently, for all items, but it might require hiring an actual software person to do it.
Gee, I wonder how Anet’s rolling out an entire expansion without any “actual software people”
The LFG system is a mess. Posts like this make me thankful that I only have to use it on very rare occasions.
Also, why are people calling it “Necrid Bolt” when gw2dugneons.net has his single-target projectile listed as “Lupine Blast”?
Hey all Lorgus here,
I was just thinking about the many hilarious April Fool’s pranks Anet can pull tomorrow.
Here are just a few options:
1. Add in SAB, but only allow players who purchased the continue coin last time to be able to access it. Also re-release the continue coin in the gem store for only 3000 gems
2. Replace the “hobosack” texture on engineer toolkits with the Chaos of Lyssa backpiece and watch as everyone rerolls engis.
3. Announce that the previously envisioned 500 gold recieved via mail/week limit was a bad idea, and instead implement a 50g/week version.
4. Similarly, announce that the “excessive messaging” currently in place gives too much leeway to bots and reduce mailing capabilities to one letter/day
5. Implement “Fractal Tickets” that players can exchange for a fractal weapon of their choice. Then announce that these tickets can be obtained as a rare drop from BLTC chests.
Anyone else have any predictions or suggestions? I’m interested in hearing them
No because then the people who bought tools before watchwork ones won’t spend more gems to upgrade
Want to get even more mad?
Traps and Winter’s Bite (Axe #3) cast time went from 1/2 sec to 1 sec.
Not as bad water dagger ele auto change
So they don’t fix the kitten guardian wall on wall thing that’s clearly borderline exploity and instead they force the people to use that even more because now it’s harder to do legit? It’s still soloable on most classes at least war mes and thief can do it for sure.
How is it interesting to allow even the worst players in the universe to rolfstomp it while at the same time punishing the ones who try to do it “the normal way”?
The cof p1 bug could be rather an interesting new mechanic and totally intended!
Trying to unbug the npcs. The new challenging twists to spice up them dungeons. An idea inspired by Warden Ilyra the Chickenmancer!
Hey we were the ones asking for more challenging content, looks like anet finally listened
It’s still doable, though the classes without easy access to vigor will have a much harder time of it now
It’s really impossible for us to determine intent here.
And that’s where a little communication would be ohh so nice. Instaed I’m just sitting here thinking they’re all pretty incompetent at this point.
I realized this after fractal leaderboards :X At least they’re not Trion or something. There are a lot worse companies out there…
Maybe April Fools :<
I really really hope the April Fool’s joke will be them announcing a new 5-man dungeon only to have the entrance to it lead to a new Living Story episode.
Aetherblade fractal seems bugged as well, the second lasers don’t deactivate properly, which can be annoying with managing kiel.
Also, harpy feathers, ash legion and whispers spy kits, along with dagger water auto attack on ele are really badly delayed now, like here: http://i.imgur.com/nAIeSxy.gif (i was spamming the skill, it’s really bad.
Working as intended, water auto was deemed too strong for the OP heals it provided.
Had a big influx of new members lately, so now’s a great time to join up and learn some speedrun tactics!
This is a dungeon? TIL.
Meanwhile, farming reddit karma with SAB content.
Now if only there were a way to convert karma into gold
…Anet will cave in and listen right? Because for two years, the forums had thread after thread complaining about the horrors of having to group with other living people for a single personal story mission, and it looks like anet finally caved.
Let’s forget for a minute the fact that there’s nothing wrong about having to party up in a massively MULTIPLAYER online role playing game, but why did they have to nerf the whole path when it was previously perfectly soloable? All you needed was a single friend in a game played by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, to stand on a pressure plate at the very first event of the dungeon, for a few seconds, and the doors would open, and you’d be free to roleplay the lone-wolf dungeon explorer that you’ve always wanted to be.
So why does anet care so much about satisfying the loud complaints of players who think that the entire game should cater exclusively to them? All that their current strategy does is encourage complaining when something is too hard or too uncomfortable or doesn’t mesh well with your play style. So maybe they want us to complain?
I guess I’ll have to complain about everything that I have a problem with if I want it to be changed. I’ll have to complain about pugs using WoR to get past lupi with a minimum of skill or experience and make selling arah less profitable than it ever was. I’ll have to complain about invisible walls in places that make no sense while existing jumping-puzzle level exploits are ignored. I’ll have to complain about getting a signle new dungeon path (at the expense of an existing one) since this game launched two years ago.
Who knows? Maybe if I complain loudly enough, they’ll listen to me too.
Welp. Soloing lupi on classes without vigor just got a hell of a lot harder.
I’ve accepted your application Dakinia
Looking forward to running with you!
Apparently ranging dredge carrier is efficient. Plus stacking behind corner of course. Also no stealth or might stacking.
But hey no worries, at least it’s “efficient”.
inb4 a bunch of people jump in to argue over the definition of “efficient” and how it does or does not apply here.
LOL, that is beyond regular kittenbaggery. That guy was on a whole new level.
2) gold can be sent freely between accounts without the time or quantity limits the game now has and the 500 gold limit/week being suggested.
I believe the limit being suggested is 500 gold per single item of mail, not per week.
“The maximum total amount of gold that an individual player account can accept in a week will be 500 gold.”
Yep, I’m wrong. Dunno why they even have point 5 as “The maximum amount of gold that can be sent via a single in-game mail will be 500 gold.” then >.>
While selling this path, somebody was raging about it so it’s worth checking
So people actually buy AC now? Didn’t think there’d be a market for it, how much gold do you ask for?
Honestly I feel like this sort of trio tourney is exactly the sort of event the gw2 dungeon community needs. Even if some people will take it super seriously, it’s not a problem for other participants to just join in to get to know their fellow dungeoneers and have a good time.
Kinda disappointed that so many teams dropped out at the last minute this time though, not sure if that’s related to nerves or just busy schedules. In any case, I hope you guys host more events like this in the future.
As an aside, that gggg run was pretty kitten funny, though on the other hand I’d be peeved if I were hosting and one of the teams treated the whole thing as a joke.
I will keep supporting this idea every time this thread pops up until I can get my bunny ears
