While I certainly wish that anet would add some new dungeon content to the game, I believe they’ve stated that there won’t be any included in this expansion.
Most likely we’ll get another fractal or two from the living story, but that’s it, sadly.
Since apparently blind will be able to deplete it as well as other CC skills to reach the same prescribed result for the mob (irregardless of what sort of CC was used) I propose calling it the “blind bar” or, more accurately, the “scripted event” bar
Conditions are indeed weak.
Ferocity is fine as it is.
Healing power is useless because it should be useless: anet stated many times that they don’t want parties to be unable to complete content due to lack of healer
Damage traits may be “boring” but they’re what determines a class’s viability and usefulness. So they’re fine.
And necromancers are indeed weak right now.
An acceptable solution to 4/5 of these would be to allow heals and conditions to crit. Then ferocity would apply to conditions and heals, so condi would be a bit more viable and lmaohealer builds can put out more healing (making themselves feel good, but ultimately still remaining useless, as it should be)
As for necros, idk maybe give them some party wide support that doesn’t overwrite every useful field in the game.
I look forward to seeing everyone and their mother running around with these on in LA
.. and NO no matter how skilled you are you can’t kill a champion alone.
I (and a lot of others) disagree:
^ this, not being able to kill a champion implies a fairly low skill level at this point in the game’s lifecycle to be honest…
I dunno, in my experience maybe one of every 10 games has legitimate rage in them. Also when I was starting out in pvp people raged a lot but not anymore. Maybe the attitudes get better along with the players?
“Skritt, I’m hit!”
Well charr armor wouldn’t fit in the first place.
Also it’s normal for two races that have been warring for centuries to be at tense relations with one another. So yes, the “racism” in this case is perfectly understandable and not without real-life precedent.
If you could chage stats around at will, as per your point 2, the entire crafting system would have to be changed, as currently different materials result in different stat combos.
Also point 3 not only sounds non-feasable, but goes directly contrary to your claim that "PvE diversity is increased ". If everyone had to invest in boon duration to recieve boons, healing to recieve healing etc. then all classes would result in a hodgepodge mish mash of every stat. Kindof like the celesial pvp meta at the moment.
In short, I don’t think this would be a very good idea, and I highly doubt anet would implement it.
As other users have mentioned it is not a clear cut case of hacking. Clever portal use may have allowed this to occur legitimately.
It’s more than that, defiance by the description uaually treats all CC the same except for how much bar it drains. As I remember, in their examples the enemies, when broken, do something totally different than the effect of the skill.
Wait really? Then whats the difference between an icebow and a thief’s BP? Both will just propel the defiance bar to the same predetermined outcome?
That seems beyond lame and I really hope that’s not how it’s going to be. To have unique cc skills/effects work only on trash would be seriously boring.
This is one QoL fix that’s been long overdue, though the recent dye change and wardrobe feature pack leave me hoping that this too may be possible.
Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE with a sequel to GUILD wars. And were even promised by Anet tons of times to be in “future updates”.
So an expansion does not qualify as a “future update”? Seems legit.
Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lorgus.6148
I don’t know why anyone expects this, or would be upset if it wasn’t given.
It’s really not that hard to get a character slot increase..
Maybe not, but you’d expecting paying full price for an expansion featuring a brand new class to at least allow you to play that class without paying extra for the slot/deleting an existing char.
If anything it’s more a direct blow on frost bow 5.
This ^
Now instead of simply heaving an ele initiate with icebow 5, you’ll need to have a coordinated “spike” at the start of the fight leading up to the icebow skill.
Pugs will be worse, but organized runs shouldn’t suffer too much.
I agree,
There’s already a “hard mode” in the form of instabilities, so it would be easy to implement into current dungeons. They could simply add an NPC at the start of the path asking what sort of challenge the players wanted: perma-cripple, no energy, random shocks of lighting, whatever.
Just be sure to reward those who can actually these modes, whether with extra tokens or gold.
My 0.02
I agree that this should be a toggleable option. I don’t see what benefits there are to not providing this choice to the player.
I was initially going to run a single character. But then I got curious as to what the warrior mechanics were like…then guard..then ele…
Today I have one of every class at 80, besides necro (I don’t like the theme, plus they’re pretty bad at pve)
I think the game stays fun for longer if you have some variety.
I’ve experienced this today as well.
A lot of the outfits would look better without their pauldrons. Seconded.
Most fun: Individual preference
Highest skill: Ele/engi
Strongest: (I will assume you mean in terms of DPS) Ele or thief
Swiftness is easy to achieve with most classes.
That wasn’t the question though. The question was: at what price? One utility slot, two? .
One inventory slot, that’s all you need to keep one stack of “Pots of hylek poison” for on-demand swiftness
Ah, interesting.
Is maize balm an unlimited use item or a limited consumable, and they are just buying them out of the TP?
I guess actually getting candy corn might be kinda neat to save up for bags. I have a node in my home, but it takes a long time to save up 1,000, much less 8x (?) that for a bag.
It’s pretty pricey, you’re probably better off simply saving gold to buy corn off tp for the bags.
Just give it some time, the maps periodically rotate so there should eventually come a time when the POIs and vistas you need are held by your server. Alternatively try to get some friends or even pugs to join you at some odd hour of the night and claim the territory you need for your map completion.
I know, I was just saying that it would be nice if they could actually be transferred. That was all.
Ahh, I agree with you on that count! Or at least salvageable so there would be something to do with stacks of purge signets and other similarly “useful” items.
Swiftness is easy to achieve with most classes. And there are free consumables for the rest of them.
Poison/Bleed: Completely overpowered imho. Get poisoned by 2 mobs = dead.
Poison is overpowered? Most of the forum would disagree with you.
And if you’re having trouble with PvE in the open world I would suggest staying out of dungeons…

I wish there were a way, it can certainly get very cluttered!
I have been trying to get the Ancient Mariner’s Oilcloth Bag from giant gifts lately and have had no luck. The wiki says that it’s possible to get them from Giant Wintsersday gifts; however, after going from 115% magic find to 140% from opening gifts I am beginning to wonder if it’s even possible. I know RNG can suck, but it seems a bit excessive especially for an account bound item.
How many boxes did you open?

If your guild leader’s attitude is a problem for you, you should probably leave the guild.
He does sound pretty unreasonable and I have a hard time imagining his guild growing very large for as long as he maintains such an attitude.
Still, its your responsibility to decide whether that community is right for you or not. If it’s not right for anyone, every member will eventually leave and the problem will correct itself.
Hello, I came back to GW2 some weeks ago, and I have been debating what class I want to pick as my “main character”. My main focus is pve, with very little to no pvp interest, and guardian and engineer have had alot of success it seems with being the support role. I was wondering which one would you guys recommend for pve/fractals as far as a character that will be the most beneficial to the group.
Thanks!
Both have their own unique uses in dungeons, with guardians providing active defences like blinds and aegis, and engis being able to keep a boss at 25 vuln on their own.
Basically play whatever feels like more fun to you, you’ll probably end up trying out the other classes later anyways.
You could try checking your local craigslist. Though there is usually no guarantee that the device will last long, you can at least be sure that the price is super cheap.
This account is ~3weeks old, I’m in full exotic gear minus rings+trinkets(and ammy)
Save them for an amulet, and then save for talismans (if you can’t get a guild to do guild missions with) and then save them for ascended armor recipes.
Don’t listen to people who tell you to convert to t6 mats. Laurels are time gated, gold is not, so let them stack up until you’re absolutely sure you’ve bought everything you want with them.
also regarding the ingame lfg tool, mostly you can decide to join a “all welcome” group, which is a great thing but is very limited in what you can learn, or a group with requirements (and i won’t join those, since i respect the description and dont want to intoxicate this group with my inexperience :>).
if you know any other possibility to get in touch with s.o. who would like to this to a certain extent please let me know…
If you’ve looked up guides for the paths, either via youtube or the gw2dungeons site, and if you’re upfront with the group upon joining, I have a hard time imagining any LFG group asking for “exp” that wouldn’t accept you.
We’ve all been new, even if some groups can sometimes use a quick reminder, but if the new player asking is friendly and open to learn there’s no way they’d kick you.
Title says it. Do I need to be max level with good gear to do even the first ones or can you do them at the level they unlock at?
80 if you want to be useful.
You could do it at a lower level with friends or guildies, but in general PUGs will most likely kick when they see you join.
I’m wondering how often other dungeon sellers hijack instances. For me they seem to be the prime suspect for this.
I’m honestly perplexed at this.
It would seem logical that one seller would know the difficulties that can arise when selling, and wouldn’t wish them on another. In my experience other sellers are more often than not polite and not at all like the lfg trolls.
And if they hijack to sell, can’t you just rejoin and kick them back when they relist?
The fact that literally every human in the game is “The Hero of Shaemoor” has more than shattered any immersion that might otherwise exist.

You’re not doing it right, you’re supposed to mention whichever item you bought in mass. How are you ever going to profit from this otherwise?
Speaking of which I hear platinum is a solid investment nowadays.
can we please get rid of transmutation point system all together? it is so annoying having to buy these every time i want to change my look. changing my appearance should be of no cost. specially when i have bought a skin from gem store and have to continue to buy these lame points in order to use my skin each time i get a new piece of gear. am i seriously the only one complaining about this?
PvP is an easy way to get more transmutation charges. Also I believe in the past doing map completion rewarded you with crystals, not sure if that remains true in the new system though.
Thanks for the replies, guys. Maybe I’ll get some agony resist rings and try the 20+. Purple Miku, if it was possible for you to give me some I’d love you forever lol. Well, thanks. If anyone else has any idea whatsoever, any input is appreciated.
The shards are account bound on acquire, like most ascended items.
“Every blind will tick it and blind is scaled. Let’s say – blind takes a fifth of its duration. Blind is pulsing for 3 seconds and pulses 3 times. That’s 9 seconds of blind. A fifth of that is around 1.8 seconds – if my maths is right – so that pulsing blind field will do less than a Backbreaker. What’s detrimental to the pulsing skills is that by the time the third one occurs the Breakbar is regenerating so fast that the first pulse is probably gone.”
http://www.tentonhammer.com/interview/guild-wars-2-interview-jon-peters-and-kevin-stocker-talk-defiance-wyvernI’m curious as to how much “stun” will be required of a group of 5 to break that bar. Also wondering if this will scale in dungeons so that soloing stuff is still reasonably possible. Would they realistically expect the average pug group to time 5 seconds of CC at the correct time? Especially with incorrect timing of CC sounding like it can be actively detrimental.
If they go through all the effort required to retroactively change every boss with defiant in the game, one would hope that they would also take the chance to implement a scaling mechanic similar to the one present in open-world bosses.
Otherwise soloers will just have to live without deep freeze I suppose, but it’s not like chain-cc in solo runs is feasible now anyways.
I am pleased to announce that recruitment has re-opened!
Hey, Slagar!
Tarnished Cult is a cross-server, dungeon-running guild.
We’ve got over 100 members now, every guild upgrade unlocked, and we’re generally a friendly bunch of people to hang out in chat with. We especially enjoy doing dungeons and fractals, though we also have many members into sPvP or WvW (myself included), though we were originally formed as a way to have nice, reliable and fun people to run dungeons together with.
We even have a guild website at http://tarnishedcult.enjin.com/ and while it’s not updated too frequently, it has a couple of guides and videos on there made by our members that can give you a good idea of what we’re like.
It’s important for any member to be willing to work well on a team (for guild missions and dungeon runs cooperation is really important!) and be a generally friendly person who socializes in chat a lot. In return, we promise to help you out with anything you might need, be it tips, guidance, an extra body on a run or someone to practice pvp with.
If this sounds like the community for you, shoot me a letter/pm in game, apply on our website or message someone from our thread here :

Hope to see you in game, I’m looking forward to meeting you!
Cheers,
Lorgus
