I don’t think you can really say that in this case – politics itself intrudes upon the game. At least as regards the OP’s original post. The laws in Russia would make large parts of the story and the portrayal of multiple characters illegal – i.e. the game in it’s current form would be almost certainly banned. Advertising the game would be ‘promoting’.

At best Guild Wars 2 would be called an “adult only” game, at worst it would be banned and Anet would be sued for Gay Propaganda.

In fact, the police didn’t even submit the results of their investigation to the court. So no, this does not qualify as a conviction, nor were the tourists “jailed” as the Huffington Post so loudly claims in its title.

Your second link outlines an event that occured two years ago. According the article, the young man responsible was “arrested” by his own parents and a nearby officer, then immediately set free. No charges were filed against the young man, and he hasn’t stood trial for this act. Note that this was two years ago.

Another interesting fact from the article was the actions of the very same LGBT activist that initially defended the young man.
“On 17 August he tweeted: “Western media has no respect for Russia and its people and LGBT population included. What they report about Sochi and gay propaganda is sham.”
“All Western media want to hear from me that Russia is kitten and I don’t want to take part in this hypocrisy. So all interviews are over!” "

^ Note that this is the man who promised full legal support to the youth, and a prominent LGBT activist. Funny how even the homosexual community in Russia thinks that western reporting of the law is bullcrap.

As for your final link, it is true that the videogame received a higher age rating than it did in the states. So what? In Australia they BAN games with sexual content, such as the Witcher 2 and Saints Row 4, whereas here, a game was still available, but sold only to mature consumers. This is as much “discrimination” against gays as the Australians are “discriminating” against sexually active adults.

First of all, homosexual propaganda doesn’t exist… As homosexuality is not something you can buy, trade or acquire by any other means… Homosexuality is a fact, it exists… And as such is not advertised, it is simply showed. If you have a poster in a street with 2 men kissing, this is not a propaganda telling all men to kiss each other, this is a picture showing that some men like to kiss each other…

Unfortunately, the law is then used, as we have seen numerous cases, as a pretext to be excessive – that’s exactly why they were enacted in the first place of course, under the guise of “protecting children and society”, etc.

Please list some of these “numerous cases” in which this law was used in Russia. The wikipedia article about it lists but a single example involving a 100$ fine to a group of adults picketing a children’s library. Hardly the “excessive” enforcement that you are claiming.

Um, you were probably the cause with your “support” guardian why the group didn’t kill the molten charr within the first reflection wall, which is likely what wipes a group.

This is literally the the one fight in the game where the longer you take to kill a boss the harder/more unforgiving the fight gets.

The real support in this game is boosting your team’s DPS and reflecting/aegis the crap that kills them. They don’t need you to tank. They don’t need you to heal. They just need you to kill that crap asap and give them enough blocks/reflects to get that burst uninterrupted with 25 might stacks and fury.

Stop thinking there are roles other than DPS in this game. The way it functions is you maximize offense and bring the bare minimum of support required so that nobody dies.

Honest anwser right here.
You can provide the exact same boons (aegis, blind, stability, cleanse) as a guardian while also not gimping your own damage

TBH I hope there’s no underwater combat in the new expansion. It feels really clunky and we don’t have access to like half our skills anyway. I’m pretty happy anets been phasing it out with the removal of the Raid on Capricorn pvp map and the water areas in wvw.

More on topic: I vaguelly recall mesmer underwater downed state being basically a rapid-fire machinegun a while back. Is that still the case?

Lupi seriously got nerfed this patch. Anyone else notice that his “snotstorm” rapid-fire aoe now tickles in comparison to how much it used to hurt? I can literally walk out of it on my ele without dying now.

Pugs keep stacking because that was the meta back when FGS was a thing, months ago. LFG groups will always be a few months behind the current meta: to OP, if you want to do dungeons a specific way (like clearing everything or no stacking) make your own lfg or join a guild that does it that way.

Or you could join a dungeon guild that doesn’t use outdated tactics from months ago if you hate corner stacking that much. Though they would probably ask you to run a meta build in return.

No Fractal Leaderboard, which was the supposed reason to reset everyone to 30.

I still don’t understand what happened there. Why announce something and not even go through with it… They even said they had all the data, why not post it? And there wasn’t a huge uproar on the forums over it or anything either. I’m still peeved about that.

Because the fractal leaderboard was a massively bad idea. Who cares who finishes a particular fractal first? Plus, that’s kind of useless. Once it’s done, the leaderboard’s finished. There’s no way you can do better than being first, so it’s pointless. Who finishes fastest? Does it include the group who gets swamp, ice elemental, thaumanova, and molten, or the group that gets harpy jumper, Cliffside, dredge, and mai trin?

While I agree that a static, non-changing leaderboard may have been a subotimal idea, it’s better than no leaderboard at all, especially when the entirety of the gw2 population had their fotm level reset because of it.

As for your qualms about fractal rng, the fact that one has to do at least 20 sets of fractals to reach 50 from 20 reduces the significance of luck. Though I must admit that there were some luck-based bugs that meant losing all your progress (Mai trin on 37 comes to mind), but those were the fault of inadequate testing, and really shouldn’t have been in the game to begin with.

As someone who has run many many dungeons and even lead many as well. I have do not care what people run when they run with me. I have taken just about every combination out there and still beat every dungeon. Sure some times it is harder when you dont have a dedicated tank or run a bunch of people who cant do a lot of dps. But it has never stopped me from trying. But I do at time swap characters out and in if we are having difficulty with a section. One or two of the group might have to switch to another character that they might have but I leave this up to the person, or I do it myself.

Knowing the dungeon well and your character well, you can 2 or 3 man most of not all the dungeons. They just take time to do.

I bet you wouldn’t be so sure that every dungeon is completeable with any party setup if TAFU or pre-nerf Simin were still a thing.

This is definitely one of the legendaries that I feel needs some love.
The design of it is awesome, but it does need some additional aura/footsteps effects. Some people have suggested leaving a trail of pages as you walk, that might be cool.

I hope anet doesn’t forget about the old legendaries with the inclusion of the new ones from HoT.

Combat log is not visible. I’ll post it tomorrow. We were working on a molten duo record run and all of sudden we were burning then dead. There was a fire field there before, then it disappeared but apparently persisted even after the red ring and the fire field graphics disappeared. Started burning then started dying.

My video quality got all jacked up some reason so its pretty pixelated. Probably since I was streaming earlier and hadn’t reset my pc. You can still see that there’s no fire field where we’re standing though. I’ll see if anybody else was recording which they should have been.
