I completed it on a couple of toons last week and the week before, and did not need to use any regen items at all. And I was sloppy, not necessarily being spot on with my timing. I got through it with no problem each time.

I went back this weekend and completed it on a few alts, and was not able to do so without using regen items.

Something had obviously changed. I suspect they hotfixed it sometime toward the end of last week, to make it more challenging. Now, however, they are seeing people using regen items to complete it, so they have to fix that.

This is pure conjecture on my part, but if I were a betting man…

Explains what I saw as I did struggle a bit last night while using adrenal mushrooms although I was sloppy when I first started.

Just did it the other day, and other guildees too, without the need for that. You just wait a couple ticks after eating it, and then spam skill 6

I want to point out another absolutely stupid bug with UA. First off, I’ve had moments where necros can apply conditions to me while UA is attacking. Not when I’m starting it but full on into the supposed “invulnerable state”. Second, it gets interrupted by any sort of wall or barrier skill such as fear wall on necro, elite trap and longbow 5 on dragonhunter. Third, I’ve had two separate occassions now where my camera gets disconnected from my character and my character just stands there unable to move or do anything. Both times I died as I was literally a sitting target. Combined with the silly wall and terrain bugs, it’s becoming very frustrating to use unrelenting assault…

It counts as an evade, not invuln, and is subject to the same rules as a dodge. You can’t dodge past a fear wall, or ring of warding, or etc. The failing to hit at all just because a pebble is nearby is an issue. Careful against walls as well because you can end up stuck within in some cases.

The camera thing is an issue. You have to do an emote like /dance to ‘fix’ it. It’s a lot like the movement bug issue.

UnknownFreak.2805, switch to the 64-bit client, if possible.

lexxguard.2690, please post your crash log as an attachment.

Thanks.

I’m using the 64-bit client and I’ve noticed the same problems with having the treasury window open and then trying to open the guild panel.

The game doesn’t crash, but everything lags to the point of locking up. If you open one or the other everything seems fine, it’s only when you try to open the guild panel when the treasury window is open that everything comes to a halt. It’s not just the Guild panel being slow, it makes the entire game seize up. There is something going on with using those two interfaces at one time. Once my game froze up so bad I had to force it to close and restart, it might have caught up eventually but I didn’t wait and see.

I’ve also noticed that if I try to open the guild panel while running from one place to another everything lag hitches and gets really slow while the guild panel loads. Other windows like my inventory or the trading post don’t seem to do that. It’s something in relation to opening the Guild interface that makes everything hitch.

Had you tried the -repair on the client? Don’t know if they had although the OP had memory issues that have been common on the 32-bit hence why anet finally pushed a 64 bit client out. I tried to recreate this when it was first posted and was unable.. hmm second thought I think it was another similar post. This has more information on how to do it contained within. However still cannot recreate this problem.

As for the original reason for this post, confirmed that it is in fact still occurring, and it is indeed triggered by another character in same map saying something while in stealth.

That crash log now should appear in the users folder, windows profile name, appdata\roaming\guildwars2\, unless windows 8/10 moved it somewhere else,
as Arenanet.log, although it’s changed name and location idk how many times since gw2 beta 2012.

Getting that corrupt log I’d definitely have to agree with attempting a repair and seeing if it resolves the problem.

Three ANet replies to this thread already but not a single one on the much older much longer thread regarding the now pitiful legendary that is The Howler. Depressing.

I was about to post the same thing. How is it that the same Devs/Mods couldn’t comment on Howler and that issue is over a year and an half old.

Pfft screw that

3 replies on a thread about sound but no replies on a thread about gamebreaking missing rewards/broken mechanic? Lovely to know where SkinWars 2 is really heading.

idk on howler either. I can’t remember if a dev commented on that in the past. I thought something had been said about it though.

About missing game rewards? Assuming you mean about map completion not giving rewards? That’s known, fix is due nov 17th, it’s in the dev tracker. I’d highly suggest watching it and not waiting in a single thread to get a response. Also, just because no one from Anet has responded doesn’t mean they haven’t seen it. Of course communication could always be better. There’s some things I’d like acknowledged as well, but this thread isn’t about them. The response in this thread was because when seen, the QA Lead had a suggestion to help, a suggestion that appeared to be within the players realm of control to fix that they had noticed while testing. However the issue isn’t that simple for many apparently.

And every time a dev replies on one issue, they are getting harassed for not replying on another. Then, if they reply on that one, they get harassed for not replying on a 3rd. There comes a time where they have to consider if replying is even worth the effort or if doing so is going to cause more issues than not doing so.

Tested it again and while I do not own dreamer, I only heard the whinny a couple times over probably 10 mins of firing trying different directions, etc., and it seemed random when it did occur. Owner of it had to have the camera facing the character, and angled upward which is similar to what others have said on that.

My sound is through motherboard, but it’s Realtek chip. The one that owns it I know has a usb headset, Razer.

Tested and “May Lyssa Confound You” heard on other human player characters no where near each other. Tested from one end of LA to another, one used it, other heard it and new exactly when it was used (keep in mind characters do not utter lines on every single use of a skill). Now, this raises an interesting question. Why are people using this skill? Especially in central tyria? Why so many people? -_-

edit: It may depend on gender based on a bit of further testing, but I know both male and female humans have heard it.

In HoT areas at least, all characters seem to be randomly saying things. May Lyssa Confound You is pretty common on humans, but there are also a few greetings that are randomly done, and everyone seems to get these at the same time. Sylvari for instance say something like it’s nice to meet you, complete with a chat bubble over your character, and 3 of us all in party noticed this at the same time. This isn’t walking up to one of the npc’s that triggers dialogue, either. This happened multiple times, with the nearest creatures being pocket raptors and a stonehead. Another time, one was halfway across the map from the other 2, and all 3 got this at the same time. This happened as often as the lyssa confound you does on human. And I remember charr doing some type of similar greeting randomly as well.

Since it seems to be triggered by other players, la rarely does it, and the new maps pushing to complete meta’s does it a lot.

Anyone else get a bug when using sword #3 on an enemy that blinks mid UA? I got teleported along with the ele and my revenant was totally frozen for 5-10 seconds.

by frozen you mean unable to walk? That would be the movebug that is given randomly just by walking, but more common with dodges and shadowsteps, which the blink is. If frozen in a different way then you’d need to clarify. The following with target seemed to have been intended even in beta (you could follow a portal apparently). On that note, it rather sucks the skill essentially fails when your target stealths >.> although I guess I get the reason for that yet ranged channeled skills would keep hitting. I’m mixed on changing this though, because that may require other changes to the skill that might be a bigger detriment. Anyways, if I misunderstood the ‘totally frozen’ then could you clarify?

I had no ability to move in any direction. As for skills, my camera was very far away and I couldn’t see much. This occurred during an ele’s Lightning Flash.

Yeah that would be the general movebug that has gotten so much worse the past month or 2. It triggers even on dodges now (over a year ago, maybe around 16 months ago? We had this issue really bad then. In some ways though I think it’s worse now. I was rooted for no reason, no immob, nothing and basically had to stand there for 10 seconds. Doing /dance would often allow you to move, but even that seems to not always work now.

1. Why skills 1-5 costs energy and have cooldowns? If i have no energy i cant use my basic skils this i think nerf for that class. Let them have cooldowns or only energy cost.

Tbh i have to disagree with you. Our weapon skill cd’s arent short at all in many cases. Shield and staff actually has huge cd’s, sword offhand cd’s are not different by any means from warrior and so basically any other offhand skills we have -mace and torch.

Sword 3 has the same cd as every other move similiar to it like blurred frenzy. Where we could say that we have low cd’s are skills on 2 but most of them are quite useless except hammer. So no, i cannot really agree on the short cds.

What I’m saying is, Anet WOULD increase the cooldowns if they did not have an energy cost. They would feel obligated to do so. I believe Roy stated this during a beta weekend feedback or probably before even.

Or they’d cut the output of them more than we are likely to get.

Sigils of Day/Night – These will not have any benefit

does this mean Sigil of Force?

Although it’s not stated either way, it should be ok as it’s only 5% and more in line with other things, otherwise if force isn’t allowed, then malice/bursting/air probably shouldn’t either, along with pretty much every single other sigil. Sigil of night for instance is 10% force is only 5.

Hi i dont know if anyone say it but i have few thinks in my short list:

1. Why skills 1-5 costs energy and have cooldowns? If i have no energy i cant use my basic skils this i think nerf for that class. Let them have cooldowns or only energy cost.

2. Swaping legends negets effects what we use in last legend.

3. Only 2 legends to use? Sorry but i see all of players use the same build. Why? Becouse only 2 legends for fight and only to good for use.

4. Ekhem… why revenant dont have race skills? No comment.

5. Revenant need more skills in legends, all other class can change 6-0 skills using the best. We can only use that what legend is giving to us, swaping to other gives maybe 2 good skills for use and cooldown to use last legend. Elementalist have 4 elements, no swaping weapons, we have 2 legends, swaping weapon in my opinion to low legends.

6. Elite specjalist herald must be new legend for use not in the same slot what we have now 2, but in new slot, 3 slot. Other class have new skill bars, etc. Revenant dont have new bar but he must delete one for new one.

I dont know how you play pvp but i have big problems to win pvp matchs. Sorry i always are in last 2 places. When i play my necro im in 2 first places. If you have good build for pvp and good game i whanna see it. (Sorry for my bad english).

#1, it’s skills 2-5. If they didn’t have energy cost, they’d have much longer cooldowns, they’d have to.

#2, that makes sense though, and is an intended mechanic

#3, depending on purpose you want your build to be, dictates which legends you are going to want to use, this is similar to other classes. You have some in mallyx/shiro or mallyx/jalis perhaps, mallyx is by nature more condi oriented so power generally would not use it but could), some in jalis/shiro, herald/jalis, could do herald/shiro. Ventari has uses but is more niche I think, I never cared for it at all so can’t really comment on it. This isn’t everyone using the same build or even same legends. Now, that was in general sense but for pvp, most players using same builds is generally how it goes anyways.

#4, the no racial skills, well, that would require effort for no real gain. Few people would probably even use the racial skills since in general they are… weak. Not said, they definitely need to fix the underwater legends to be split from land like it should be.

#5, Rev is balanced around these specific skills on the legends for a reason. This is why it was given weapon swap, though, because it was too restricted not having kits like engi or more ‘attunements’ like ele and not being able to change utilities.

6. You don’t have to use the glint legend with the elite spec for herald anymore than you have to put gyro’s in your utility for scrapper or shouts on reaper.

Glint facet bug?

I am having this issue recently in spvp and its getting extremely annoying, as it puts the facets on a 3 sec cd when deactivating them. It has actually gotten me killed a few times as i went to activate the facet heal, or reveal a stealth only to find i couldn’t, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this is happening, as it happens at completely random times.

That sounds more like running out of energy, as that will put them on the interrupt cooldown, and sPvP doesn’t have the level change that is triggering this issue.

Edit: This isn’t to say there may not be an issue in sPvP that is causing it, I do not know.

This has been not working really for a long time. In many cases, the audio drivers are up to date for people. And why would dreamer and maybe one or 2 other legendaries be the ones that somehow aren’t working? I don’t have it, but I know someone that does, and we’ll test it and see, but I know the sound was noticed to have been gone a year ago.

If there are a lot of people and sounds also happening in your area some sounds do drop out.

Yes aware of that. However, even removing that variable, the sound still does not play for multiple people. Just tested it, and it sounds just like a regular old bow, so this isn’t a case of no sound, just no dreamer effect.

Edit: I could upgrade drivers, but updated drivers had already been tried for the guildee that has dreamer. I generally don’t bother with sound drivers once it’s stable because it rarely, if ever, makes a difference, and have to go through like realtek to get more current drivers. That works fine for me, but for some this may not be easy or practical since their computer manufacturer doesn’t keep up on providing them. I’ll do it to personally test, but as stated, they were already using current drivers. Then you have laptop manufacturers for some people too, also not playing the dreamer audio.

Why would dreamer be special in this respect? I’ll agree it can get annoying, but if this was the cause, why only these certain things? Why not also affect quip?

Only other things I could see, is to check the event viewer, and the memory dump from the computer crash. I would also suggest running memtest from usb/cd boot. It’s entirely possible something is faulty. Assuming no overclocks? It’s possible the power supply isn’t up to par as well… in fact many manufacturers skimp on this.

also, make sure everything is backed up that you want to keep (good precaution anyways, but so few of us actually stick to this and it hurts when you lose things you want to keep >.> )

After running memtest, if it runs for at least overnight without issue, then that may be ok, I’d move on to making sure chipset drivers are up to date from the actual motherboard manufacturer. If were able to update them, try the current graphics drivers again. If this isn’t working, reinstalling windows is the next step. If you have tried that before as well, and error persisted, there is something wrong with your hardware somewhere x.x

It was a custom build, not a pre-built, so nothing was skimped on. 1200W power supply, 64G of RAM originally (48 installed now), nVidia 670 which was a $600 card at the time. Every component 4-star rated or better.

I’ve done most of this before. memtest86 was done a year ago and found 3 of 8 bad memory sticks were bad. Two was replaced at the time (Leaving me with 6 total). Didn’t help with the crashing though. I’ll have to check again. Still haven’t gotten around to RMAing the other 2. PSU (1200W Corsair Pro modular) was tested twice by the shop I bought it at and came up clean. Furmark burn in stress test will run indefinitely with no crashes and settles in with a temp at about 81C. eVGA stress tester also runs fine so I think the physical GPU is fine, or at least the parts the stress testers test. Windows has been reinstalled to no avail. I updated chipset about a year ago on Windows 7, the last time I tried to resolve things, but will try again with new Windows 10 drivers I downloaded this morning. This time last year, I took it in for one last attempt to get it fixed under warranty and the shop did a week-long stress test, which I paid $80 for, and found no hardware issues. It’s all really kind of maddening. LOL

ugh that it is. Testing with memtest can uncover things not easily noticed elsewhere, same with furmark as they test different things, but with multiple tests appearing fine, yeah the issue is a bit more subtle. Other main test I could think of is like prime95. It may just be that those specific parts just don’t like each other in the configuration they are put in :/. Or maybe they just need a good kick.

Thanks you!!!
I’ve only been asking for this for 2 years. Hopefully, this will clear up the infamous event log message. This is the last thing that gets written before GW2 crashes.

*Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

The description for Event ID 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. *

These days, I’m so pessimistic about it after fighting with, Anet, nVidia, eVGA and the people I bought the computer from for three years, that deep down I’ve convinced myself there’s no way it’s going to work and that the only way to absolutely get rid of the error and hopefully the crashing it is to replace the computer and use ATi.

As that message says, it’s a problem with the display driver and getting a new game client won’t help with that at all. In my personal experience, even a reinstallation of Windows can solve such problems but it’s very hard if not impossible to find out the real reason for those errors sometimes.

The New x64 client
The new client changed the type of crash to more of a CTD (I forgot to check the event log though to see if it was caused by the nVidia driver). The two times it did crash, my desktop came up and I had to fiddle around with task manager until GW2 was in a state that it could be killed. So far it seems to be an improvement though I’ve changed a lot of settings too and reverted my driver. But up until now I’ve never had the software crash, always a system crash, no matter what settings or driver I used, so we’ll see. The only difference the setting and drivers made was the frequency and severity of the crash. Right now I’m running pretty nerfed with shadows turned off and the shadow cache in the nVidia driver is turned off for GW2 (Figured I’d try this), shaders are set to low, post processing is set to low, Light adaptation is turned off and the frame limiter is locked at 60fps. My memory in the BIOS is set to stability mode (At the sacrifice to performance).

nvlddmkm error
Finding the real reason is a real pain. There doesn’t seem to be a tool that will monitor the resources that need to be monitored in such a way that it will write out to a file right up to the point of the crash. I’m convinced it’s a bad cache somewhere in the hardware that’s getting used in some special way by GW2 (via the nVidia driver) that most other games do not. Unless I can find something that will monitor such things and write the results to the HD (Or network drive), ya, finding the solution may ultimately be a piece by piece HW replacement or a full PC replacement, though I see LOTS of people with brand new PCs who have this problem (Including myself at the time I bought it). One thing I did notice is that many of the games that experience this problem tend to have heavy on-line requirements. I wonder if the NIC might be throwing faults causing the video driver to freeze up since it shares the same bus as the video card. Again very hard to confirm.

I played smoother fps then ever before with the 64 bit client for 4 minutes till my 4 gb of ram maxed out at 98% usage. Then my client froze up and I had to ctrl alt delete my way out of the game. Then I went back to the 32 bit client and the game runs just as smooth as the 64 bit. Where as before trying the 64 bit client my 32 bit client would be a kittenoppy. Its like just running the 64 bit client made my 32 bit client run smoother. Very fishy… I do say so my self….

There is virtually no benefit to be had from a 64-bit client if you only have 4gb of ram. Keep in mind that your operating system and any other programs you’re running such as media players and web browsers will also be taking up ram, GW2 doesn’t get to use up all the ram even if you wanted to. That would cause bad things to happen such as what you describe with the game crashing.

And as the guy said in his faq even with the 64-bit client there will not be massive performance gains.

What you think you are experiencing is placebo. I can just about guarantee that.

It could be placebo, but it could actually improve the ‘smoothness’ appearance as well. For one, gw2 won’t have to go back to the dat file as much if you have more ram. Even if you only have 4 gigs of ram, it could actually help as well. Mileage would likely vary, but it could help. Windows does fake memory (virtual memory after all) when it goes beyond the ram actually installed in the computer, and even in those situations, since the program can address more than that limit, it is more likely to keep on going instead of freaking out like a psychotic cat thrown in a bathtub.

I too noticed the smoothness. Actual fps increase? Not really noticeable. But it was smooth in areas that could get choppy despite fps being ok. I was a bit surprised to see it as I did not expect it, but it also makes sense. But just as stated in the FAQ, actual metrics would show little improvement beyond what they hoped you’d see with the stability. But even a 5% increase in performance could still be called ‘little’. Each computer is different, and perhaps this was a bigger bottleneck for some people than thought?

You’d really have to test them both, switching back and forth to really know and compare in same situations. Of course memory usage will be more with 64-bit so that too could actually cause less performance for some people. It’s worth trying regardless though.

You didn’t read his post did you? He said the 64-bit client crashed so he switched back to the 32-bit one and it felt smoother for him which doesn’t make any sense. Thus placebo.

Literally nothing would change going from 32-bit to 64-bit and then back to 32-bit.

Well I read a lot of things, and in a way wasn’t replying specifically to that, more to the whole assertion, and perhaps quoted the wrong thing.

I’ll have to agree on that because if you use the 32, then the 64, then go back to the 32, and the 32 appears smoother than it ever was before, there are only a few possible causes. I do feel sorry for anyone with 4 gb of ram because windows itself needs some ram to deal with itself and caches.

  1. the 64-bit client changed graphic settings (entirely possible and this change would hold between them and wouldn’t just be #3 that follows)
  2. well this isn’t very likely on more modern computers with more recent OS, because of faster ram and better memory management. But being that bottlenecked, it could have an affect, albeit very temporary, in that windows would have swapped out other things and allowed more of actual ram to be free when the 32-bit client was loaded after. However, if this is the case, loading the 32 after the 32 previously crashed should accomplish the same.
  3. If #1 isn’t at play, then the Placebo effect due to a misunderstanding is at play, apparently much like this discussion.

HoT maps reset on me

My guild claimed the Lost Precipice and, after patching, we appear to have to do it again because it didn’t save.

I think that’s a separate issue related to instanced things not saving properly when a patch comes out. We lost story progression twice due to patches a week ago and had to redo them. Good luck with reclaiming that though, that sucks x.x

Interesting, I didn’t think 32 vs 64 bit would really make any difference, but hopefully it helps those who have been having issues.

Anyone know why a 64bit client would make any difference to user experience of GW2?

Edit: thanks fellyn. So, more ram usage = better performance?

Pretty much every crash in the game is due to the game hitting 3GB memory. This instantly causes any 32bit application to crash. This should solve most people crashing issues.

not exactly but close. It’s technically 4GB, but yeah windows needs some of that space, so it’s 3.1-3.5 depending on the computer (in my case about 3.5-3.6 apparently based on multiple prior tests), with the primary crash possibly more related to fragmentation as people have said, causing it to lose the memory location where data was due to trying to keep track of it all and physically unable to due to 32-bit limit)

Glints Facets sometimes wont stay on. It seems different then the deactivation bug that happens sometime. But who knows.

I have had it happen twice now, i am standing still. Nothing is going on. 50 energy. Turn on a facet. It might stay one for a second at most turns itself right back off again. It isnt triggered doesnt go cooldown. Just turns off. It wasnt one specifc facet because once i noticed it, i tried them all. The only way i could find to clear the problem was to swap legends and then swap back. Pretty simple fix. Still annoying.

Thre is a bug caused by map exploration. When you uncover a new section of the map (in central Tyria at least, I haven’t tested it for Maguuma), your facets get turned off. Luckily it’s very easy to turn them back on before the boons expire once you know what’s causing it, but it’s still a QoL fix I’d like to see nonetheless.

As for if it’s happening while you’re standing still, I’m not really sure.

It’s actually the level change that causes it, not the discovery. It’s just far more difficult to tell now since the Mastery Rank is displayed at the bottom instead of Effective Level.

Weird bug which gives me a serious error

There is an issue going on. If you see weird textures apparently do NOT try to take a screenshot as that can force a crash.

It also seems repairing doesn’t fix this (like it does for the pink texture which is a missing texture issue). Guildie has it so bad that if he sees any texture out of place at all, he knows not to take a screenshot. Thing is, we’ve all seen this issue now, just he gets it more. I had noticed the profile picture for someone was various colors but everything else was fine. It did look just like the picture LadySkylet attached except it wasn’t the game model, just the picture where you click on them. I did not crash then but I did not take a screenshot either.

There is something weirder going on with the guilds, although not sure if related?

Tried to do a guild mission (crab toss) earlier, and we were being kicked out, when it appeared someone started their mission after ours and dropped the crab in their instance. This happened 3 times. We changed map to find one with fewer people doing it, and were able to complete it.

Upon leaving however, we ended up right in the middle of a crab toss guild mission in the open world map much to our shock, and people dead everywhere with a lot of vet karka jumping around.

Separately, on the issue, I remember seeing this error occur once but it was a few days after release of HoT.

These issues have been noticed since HoT launched, not just the more recent patches. It seemed random at first, and to have gotten worse, but that’s more anecdotal than anything.

Also the reason you might see it cancel while in combat, is that your ‘effective level’ can change while in combat.

Not so much related but I noticed Shiro Impossible Odds stance deactivates when you enter a new territory of a map. Not switching maps – but when you are exploring and a new area ia discovered it deactivates.

I’d consider it as the cause overall, except it’s happened in areas that were not transitions like that, so I don’t think that is the direct cause every time. It’s about as random as the ‘May Lyssa Confound You’ that I hear randomly when on my human Revenant.

although I will agree this does in fact seem to cancel it as well.

edited due to trying to do too much at the same time and clarity >.>

iirc the “may lyssa confound you” is related to applying a condition if you have lyssa as your patron god.

there is also “grenth take you” when you kill an enemy, “by the fires of balthazar” when you give or gain a boon, “dwayna bless you” when you heal yourself or someone else, or “may kormir enlighten you” when removing a condition.

Except it’s happening on multiple characters, humans of course, without applying a single boon or condition, even standing in LA. I’ve stood around doing nothing, on rev and guardian, and had it happen. Guardian doesn’t have lyssa as patron from character creation.

As posted elsewhere, believe it is very likely that it’s not necessarily the ‘transition of an area’ but moreso the ‘level change’.

And it is any upkeep skill.

One thing I haven’t solved with this, is that it happened to me in verdant brink as well I just recalled. But I suppose for now the concentration on the level change cancelling it should reduce a lot of the instances of this happening, allowing us to report when it happens in other cases.

It is not just glint. A few people, including myself, have noticed Impossible Odds cancelling itself at ~36% remaining energy, which is about where it would be if you quickly cancelled it yourself. We are sure that we are not double tapping it so that isn’t the issue. It just randomly will cancel.

in fact I’d go so far as to say that rev is not the only class doing this, it’s just the easiest to see. For a while, there have been issues with skills that you know you activated just suddenly not activating, ele Dragon’s Tooth is a good example where I’ve seen it, randomly on other skills, like “I know I activated that skill, why didn’t it go”?

Jump Pads in LA

Google failed to find a post about this, and I did not see it mentioned.

Saw in patch notes, thought it was interesting, and it was, the first time saw them. Then, it very quickly became a source of cursing. They are easily hit by accident, and no you don’t even have to always be jumping to trigger them, you can become stuck on the intermediate ones.

Just move the sanctum harbor waypoint behind the lobster’s tail (or don’t), remove the jump pads (sorry to the dev that took the time to line them up), and be done with it. I don’t know why this choice was taken in the first place, something must have made this the easier solution than just moving the waypoint…

I know that I’m not alone in even just going from bank to crafting or waypoint to crafting, and accidentally hit a jump pad, being whisked off against your will. Why not at the very least, have used the pads from Tequatl? at least that would have required pressing F on them.

But please, remove the current jump pads before they drive us crazy (er), leaving us to sit and launch baby quaggans repeatedly with maniacal laughter.

Condi food nerf

in WvW

Posted by: Lunacy Solacio.6514

Lunacy Solacio.6514

For real?!

Awesome! Now things are normalizing much, much better to allow for balanced conditions in WvW.

Oh wait, new armor stat combination has +condition duration. This makes things objectively worse.

Nice job screwing up something else, ANet.

It seems their intention is not to nerf condi duration: they know a lot of people want to play builds with condi duration so they lock it behind the paywall of HoT in order to drive sales.

You might be on to something. I mean it does slightly help in that full condi must at least sacrifice some of the defenses it used to have.

But scumbag marketing/design is definitely apparent with this expansion due to the hero point/mastery grind for even making some of the new stuff attainable.

The stat loss is mediocre. It won’t matter that much. There is not a lot of difference between 1400 condition damage and 1200 in practice, for instance. And they can still have a lot of armor and health, while having far more condition duration than the opponent will have of -duration now for sure.

I’ll agree that the food was a bit of an issue, both the + and the -, however a 50% nerf is too much, forces people that want to run a condition build that essentially required the food before, to now also get and run the stats with it, which will make it overpowered compared to power, instead of generally about even ( in a general sense it was even, of course some rune/build combos were ridiculous to overpowered but that isn’t the argument here)

So, the end result after launch, is about as predicted before. Hero points are locked behind masteries, a bit worse since the skins aren’t the only final things you train with hero points, so in herald’s case, you will have to truly have all 400. Additionally, they are in fact more difficult to acquire than just running up and pressing F.

That is precisely not what anyone is actually saying, it’s just what a number of people keep accusing others of saying.

That is exactly what SOME people are saying. I never implied that EVERYONE was saying that. Obviously they are not since I agreed with Konig.

So, by same logic, would it be fair to say, “Why did you come to the forum and post, if you were going to ignore every post in the thread before”? But hey, why listen to others if you can just tell them they are asking for everything to be handed to them.

That is logic? I have been following this thread since day one. I have read every post. There is no logic to anything you just said. I didn’t accuse everyone of asking for everything. I have read every post in this thread. You. Have. No. Logic. Only assumptions that are wrong.

Many aren’t even against a way to ‘unlock’ these specs. I expected to do so, via story. Yet that isn’t how it’s being done. It’s being put behind hero points.

Since you were accusing me of not reading posts, I’ll throw that right back at you. I said it was not the best way to unlock the specs. #readingcomprehension

Edited Addendum: Let me add that, we WANT to play the content. We’ve been starved on new content for far too long. However, we do not want to be forced to rush the maps just to get an elite spec on each character.

Who is rushing you to do anything? If you want the Elite Specs right now, then I guess you will have to rush. No one is forcing you to do anything. You choose what you want to do.

I disagree if you think progression of this form is “everything” and there couldn’t be a reason to play it for anything else. [SNIP]
Point is the game is a lot more open ended, and progression takes many forms.

I don’t think it is “everything”. I didn’t say that it was. And yes progression does take many forms. This is one of the forms put before us and we have to deal with it. So anyone can disagree with me or anyone else, it doesn’t change the fact that this is the way it is happening.

Furthermore, people aren’t just complaining about 400 hero points; it’s 400 hero points per character, and it leads to a situation in many progression based games that I never liked personally: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OneManParty Basically, you’re gimping yourself unless you focus on one or several characters, and that results in other choices being very underpowered and often not used at all.

Again, I did not say that all people were complaining about the 400 points. Read the posts, many people are in fact complaining about that very thing. I have 2 mains and 15 alts. So yes it will take a LONG time to get all of them up to Elite Specs. But underpowered, I don’t think so. Many of the elites are no better than the core specs. They are on equal footing IMO and in the opinion of many others.

This is often cyclic, with one character becoming slightly stronger, making it more likely for them to land the finishing blow, or survive the boss’s attacks, leading to them gaining more levels and strength, making it easier for them to kill the enemies and survive and so on…

How is this different than it is right now? These elite specs are not going to change that. The better player with or without an elite spec will always come out on top.

And depending on how the meta evolves, this could be far more impacting than ascended gear especially with the inclusion of raids.

Again, you can choose to spend your time unlocking these points. That is up to you. It will be different for everyone. I personally couldn’t care less about being “meta”. I know that is very important for some, but certainly not all.

This is the way it has been put before us. How we each decide to deal with it is a personal choice. Complaining and bemoaning about it at this point isn’t going to make it change. The expansion is tomorrow. Do you think they are going to change it before then? We either you deal with it or not. There is no debate at this point. Only complaining.

Oh I’m sorry, I responded in general terms in a number of ways. My mistake, I thought it was obvious you weren’t saying some of those things specifically. Like I didn’t think you said that all anyone was asking for was to be hand fed everything while they do nothing? But maybe that’s where my bad reading comprehension failed me again?

Seemed pretty fitting when I typed it, and seemed to fit within actual comprehension, but I must be completely wrong.

I’m still waiting for the mass exodus of people who find the idea of playing the game to earn character progression offensive and unacceptable.

Or for that matter the mass exodus of people that swore the game would fold under some massive revolt when ascended was added to the game in 2012

As far as I can tell it isn’t happening. People will complain about this for maybe another week, and then completely forget about it. The handful of people that leave the game over something so silly will not be missed, and the people that stick around will simply become accustomed to it.

If they make it easier later those same people will make another whine thread about how all their “hard work” was “devalued” and how much it’s a “slap in the face” to “veteran players”

Honestly. How many times can the sky be falling in a year without it actually falling?

Funny, I didn’t think even more than a few were threatening to quit? I thought I only saw one or 2 posts really saying that, but hey, maybe my comprehension completely failed again.

People keep repeating this like programmed drones…
specs are not content, they are the means to play it. It’s not that I don’t want to work for something, I don’t mind that, I just want my spec while doing it.

I want to play hot with a Chronomancer, not play hot and get a chronomancer at the end.

When Nightfall came out, did you get heroes automatically or did you have to play the new game to get them?
When Eye of the North came out, did you get PvE skills automatically or did you have to play the new expansion to get them?
When any of GW1’s games came out did you automatically have all skills – both normal and elites – unlocked?
When you start a new character on GW2 do you have all skills and specializations unlocked and accessible right away?
When you played Mass Effect games did you get all abilities unlocked and accessible right away?

Those are not content. Those are how you play the game. So according to you, they should all be free. Every skill, every ability, every gear should be free. Because “they are the means to play it.”

I’m “sorry” to say but unlocking more means to play a game is part of playing the game.

Every game with progression – which is just about every game ever – has this.

You do not start a Metroid game with the best armor, weapons, and all abilities. You do not start a DOOM game with all guns. You do not start Batman Arkham games with all abilities unlocked. You do not start an Assassin’s Creed game with all weapons and abilities. You do not start ANY game with everything unlocked.

People keep “repeating this like programmed drones” because that’s what it is – it’s asking to be handed an intregal part of the expansion on a silver platter.

You might as well be asking for the function of legendary armor to be given just because you bought the expansion.

Does this mean that their method of locking the elite spec is good? No. But should elite specializations just be automatically unlocked for purchasing HoT? Also no.

^This. I agree 100%.

Why play a game at all if you just given everything? If that was the way games were made you would pay $40-$50 bucks and after you downloaded it, all you would see is a fully loaded character with the end credits rolling.

I am looking forward to unlocking my elites. It gives a sense of accomplishment.

I also agree with Konig that it probably isn’t the greatest way we could have unlocked the elites, but however it is done, I am still glad we are unlocking them and not just having them handed to us.

That is precisely not what anyone is actually saying, it’s just what a number of people keep accusing others of saying.

So, by same logic, would it be fair to say, “Why did you come to the forum and post, if you were going to ignore every post in the thread before”? But hey, why listen to others if you can just tell them they are asking for everything to be handed to them.

Many aren’t even against a way to ‘unlock’ these specs. I expected to do so, via story. Yet that isn’t how it’s being done. It’s being put behind hero points. And you can bet at least some hero challenges are locked behind masteries. And, since we don’t expect each map to have 20 hero challenges, you have a pretty good idea that you’ll be far into HoT before you can get your grandmaster traits. But hey, we’ll have a clearer understanding tomorrow (well tonight for those staying up late in the western hemisphere) of the hero challenges, what they are effectively gated behind, and the costs of everything in the elite spec training…

On plus sides, since I’m expecting it to cost at least 300 hero points just to get the traits, maybe 100 left over for the skins, anything else on the trait costs will be a good thing right? -_-

Edited Addendum: Let me add that, we WANT to play the content. We’ve been starved on new content for far too long. However, we do not want to be forced to rush the maps just to get an elite spec on each character. People want to enjoy it at a pace of their choosing, not complete it quickly on multiple characters before you can do so. Because of this, some are going to be rushing the hero points as fast as they can, that would not have otherwise done so. There are plans for HP Trains, although I still fully believe some will be gated behind masteries, so it may be a XP/(mastery point or MP)/HP train, which if it’s not the ideal loot method, could end up crashing with the ‘loot trains’ that people would inevitably try to set up later, and all that would be on top of the people that just want to explore the maps fully. Others, are considering avoiding the jungle as much as possible, level revenants or other characters, and see what happens with the chaos.

One thing I don’t appreciate is some of the posters being accused of not wanting to “work” and “play the game”, especially when it’s defining “the game” as pve.

The game isn’t just about pve. Hey, let’s make it so that to unlock it, you have to do PvP, WvW, and PvE on every single character. What? You wanted stuff handed to you? Afraid of the challenge?

How many people were complaining about having to do WvW for map completion? And hell, I agreed with not forcing PvE’rs to WvW, because you know I had some degree of respect for their playstyle; unlike a lot of posts in this thread or forum that can’t even seem to think of anyone approaching the game differently. I mean, just look at how many random things people consider to be “exploits”. “Stacking in a dungeon is an exploit, because that’s not how I do it!”

I certainly didn’t appreciate pve elitists condescending to them, especially when the difference was the ability to follow a tag and blob down some enemy keep or pay gems to transfer to a stacked server. Sorry, I’m sure I’m not the only WvW’er that rolls their eyes when people tell their cute stories of getting to that Vista in Overlook. Give me a break. And hey, Anet saw the light there. And they thought of a WvW alternative too, so I’ll definitely credit them with that.

But it’s clear some elitists that think that grinding away in their form of progression is the only way worth playing in the game, and everyone else is entitled and spoiled when arguing that anyone who regularly plays WvW to be entitled to any degree is a horrific joke. Oh, and by the way, hopefully some of you discontent folks will raise a glass for this, but this aint just update content— we paid for this so it isn’t a charity case either.

And as I’ve said before, attacking someone personally, because they don’t want conform to your kitten gamer code is not really relevant to the discussion. I mean please, it’s not a high horse one is riding; we don’t have mounts in this game.

No, we are just entitled, spoiled, kitten brats (yes I did type kitten), that want everything handed to us on silver platters with silver spoons (why silver? Why not gold? Actually make that white gold for me please), while we sit on mounds of cash, never knowing a hardship, never worrying about anything except having to actually play a game.

If someone missed the sarcasm in the above, I’m sorry text doesn’t relay it well, but that is dripping with it so much, that someone on lsd could taste the sarcasm. It is probably bitter.

It’s been said countless times, but I’ll reiterate it: We do not expect, nor do we actually want, to be handed everything and not have to ‘play the game’. I too would say if you don’t want to play the game then why are you here (here as in the game, not the forum as this is obviously not playing gw2, just thought I should also state that). But, based on what Anet implied, many expected to be able to play HoT as the elite spec (and really, only having the minor trait is not what many would consider playing as the elite spec, and sure wasn’t the expectation, but apparently yes, that is what Anet considers it)

Whether you agree with the new legendaries requiring sPvP or not, I’d bet 99% see that as optional, not as a core part of HoT. Elite specs, on the other hand, were a big part of HoT. They were billed as a core part of it. Some people don’t seem to believe this… They should go back and watch the reveal of HoT. Reaper and Druid were made out to be a big deal.

They are a big deal, just not the only deal and also still optional. I for one have no interest in either Reaper nor Druid. My interest in Daredevil is the trait line exclusively, not the weapon nor the skills. My interest in Berzerker is the mechanic more than anything, and for scrapper it’s the weapon and traits. I’m not interested in the skills for any of them, because they’re optional. Only for Herald do I care about the skills.

Being able to get the first minor for Daredevil will tide me over for a long while because it includes an extra dodge, until I can finally get the dodge defining grandmaster major.

And I have no interest in Dragonhunter despite originally liking the idea of a bow on guardian (I feel it is very bad implementation but Anet is known for this x.x and ugh trapper runes) and believe that scrapper needs some serious work on balance as some aspects are far too strong. That doesn’t negate the fact that Anet treated Elite Specs as one of the primary features of HoT.

While i’m incredibly disappointed in that decision (i only started the game recently, hit 80 a couple of hours ago, and i only chose a necro as my first class because reaper looked so cool) and think that it majorly kittens over the more casual players…. considering you continue to earn hero points by “leveling up” after hitting 80, shouldn’t you people who played a lot over the past few years have thousands of hero points by now?

The system got changed recently. You have only a certain amount these days. A set amount for 1-80 levelling plus each skillpoint challenge. Or hero point challenge since the name change.

I don’t want to disagree with you, but… i’m level 80. My exp bar says 80 on the left, and 80 on the right. The bar says i need 254.000 experience points. I just went over that threshold, the bar resetted, and i went from 76 hero points to 77. And that has happened 5 or 6 times since i hit 80 a couple of hours ago. It’s 254.000 experience points every time, and i get a hero point every time.

No, you do not, unless you have a bug going on.

Skill points worked that way yes, and unfortunately spirit shards are not a direct replacement. Get far less of them than skill points doing the same things, but that’s a different argument.

Consumer rights.

The buyer may have an illegitimate HoT copy, but they did buy a legit core game.
I didnt say anything about a free key, I did say if the above does happen the player should be given the chance to purchase a legit key, not just have their account teminated.

Except the ToS dictate otherwise.

It has happened, and it will happen again. Don’t believe me? There is a certain Professor of Bearbow Math you should talk to.

Those same people who screamed will end up defending the system in another half a year if anything comes up to change it.

The only reason to defend a system that you disagree with, is because it’s the lesser of 2 evils. That is the only reason you’d see me defend it in a year.

Welcome to the forums. I applaud your current lack of cynicism.

Needs more sarcasm, which text doesn’t provide well, because I am quite cynical, most of my posts reflect that. Sarcastic too, but again text doesn’t show it.
