Many skills have been behaving like this for a long time. Shortbow 1 for instance. It isn’t limited to just thief either. This issue was also occurring with Impairing daggers before the 7/26 patch, but it may be more consistent now?
I can’t say that I’m surprised. I noticed that other channels seem to be running faster, at least on the animation. Harvesting a node with a plain tool or frostbitten finishes faster than someone using say the watchwork pick. So may be related as well.
I had not messed around with much recently so had not seen those specifically. It is likely other interacts will exhibit the same or similar behavior
“c:\Users\your-windows-name\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2” (might need to turn on hidden folders)
ArenaNet.log is the file you are looking for now. And keep in mind the most recent crash will be at the bottom.
It has been happening a lot. Probably related to them ‘fixing’ movebugs (which were not entirely fixed of course), or potentially countless other things that have been brok.. err fixed.
The client is always changing.
Something has changed with it. There are various crashes across multiple people with access violations, black screens, I personally saw a crash log that stated “Memory Leak”. And gw2 doesn’t really ever crash for me, except for the time at HoT release because of 32bit limit.
But it is not that it’s buggy because it’s running 64 bit, or running the 64 bit in 32. Even before it was more of the 32 bit client running in 64 bit anyways. That’s how we really got the 64 client in the first place…
You can try the above, no idea if it really makes a difference but what have you got to lose?
Or, oh I don’t know… do what the dev asked you to do so they can actually fix it.
It had a red circle before though… So what happened to it?
And the amount of burn it can do, and it’s apparent radius, is ridiculous. But that’s a different issue
Also there are other things not displaying circles, I didn’t write down examples, nor do I have patience to figure them out at the moment. I’ll be more than happy to keep bug reporting each and every one as they come up, and other things, provided they sometimes do get corrected.
One I can recall though, is cow treb is one, it’s a poison field. Enemy is indeed displaying a red circle, but friendly has no circle.
Check to see that Effect LOD is turned off (as according to Anet they tied another effect culling to it, or we have a new option in settings we can’t see), but otherwise, this issue is a feature… that is very annoying.
On the performance, Not necessarily because Anet keeps tweaking the game, and is recently causing various issues for a number of people.
AOE circles are indeed not always showing up for certain things, skills themselves aren’t showing up even when the circle does, so no idea what is what at times. However, in your case, you should run a repair if you haven’t and see if it might help for the cases like your own traps not showing up, or npc’s not showing up for you.
This is an issue that has started occurring recently to many people. Overall compared to a year ago the game is taking a lot longer to load (yes even on an SSD). I had what I considered an infinite load screen just going from across EB to home waypoint about 2 weeks ago. Eventually I closed gw2 and logged back in (hasn’t happened to me like that since for that long, but have had unusually long load screens at times). Others though now run across a map rather than risk being stuck in loading screens for minutes at a time.
Yeah it hasn’t changed, and likely won’t, even though there are multiple ways this could be dealt with (from directly replacing it, to letting us trade it in to an npc, to combining them like 2 level 20’s to get a 30, or whatever. Many options).
Based on datamining for the 2nd year boost a bit before that anniversary, it was supposed to be the level 30, but it was 20 when we got it, and hasn’t stacked since. Best thing you can do is have 3 bank slots reserved already, keeping them in order so you know which is the 1st and which is the 2nd, and prepare a 4th bank slot for this years which could be a level 40 or could be another level 30 that doesn’t stack. >.>
Or knowing anet, another level 20 that doesn’t stack, if we get one at all.
movebugs, both the temporary one that occurs while walking forward where you just have to change direction, and the more dangerous one that roots you in place until you emote, have been in the game continuously for at least 2 years, hitting every game mode. Colin had even talked about it a year ago. I wouldn’t count on it ever being fixed, and I’m about ready to add a lot of things to that category.
They have been very well known. CC’s are notorious for causing the one that roots you, so are teleports and movement skills.
As for the traits and runes, they really aren’t supposed to be counting temporary buffs. I believe Anet had commented on it quite a while back, potentially 2 years ago. If those things did count food/ situational traits, there could be a possibility for a feedback loop to occur in certain situations. If some are counting it and others are not, then welcome to inconsistency, where we all play.
It happened a year ago too, across many maps in pve. It was quite interesting. Certain ways to trigger it, namely jumping around/movement skills. It happens when the map is laggy and it freaks out. Since the map lag, skills not activating, and other oddities have been going on a lot, I am not surprised to see this again as well.
I am not crazy , but i swear , i see candy corn nodes popping out of nowhere left and right. Appear and disappear in a blink of an eye
All nodes comes from the fourth dimension , harvest them as fast as you can while they appear in ours .. lol
You’re not crazy — even ANet devs see that happening in the live game.
That’s definitely an example of the “resource ghosting” that I mentioned. :/
AFAIK, it’s an artifact of the game’s architecture, so it’s unlikely to be completely resolved for GW2.
Thing is that was fixed before, for about a year, but we’ve had it happen continuously the past 2 years.
It has always taken 10 hits on a proper rich node. There have been some rich nodes that are anything but rich (but I think all those have been removed?), rich nodes take 10 hits across 4 cycles or 3-3-3-1 as others have stated.
lol I thought I had somehow set that and had just been too lazy to uncheck it >.>
For me I just like to roam, I’ll ride the occasional havoc crew just to get across the map, but even when I’m not near the big pug fights I’m still lagging. Just started up this Friday at reset and hasn’t stopped since.
I kinda gave up on wvw for now.
It has been getting bad since before the reset, for a few days at least, and this has happened in the past as well, but yes it has definitely been a bit worse since reset. Tried 3 times to jump off a wall but kept being put right back on top of it.
Not saying there wasn’t lag last night, as there was. But what your experience sounds like is jumping off a wall right over an entry point…..that’ll throw you back up on the wall most everytime, unless you really jump off the wall to gain some distance on the entry point. (I just did this last night, not realizing I was over an entry point…..lol….but, this bug, if you can call it that, has been around for awhile)
Except it wasn’t. And this has happened before to people, just as the mass dc’s and skill lag had. Besides when you jump down into the portal, you actually fall pretty much to the ground before being placed back up.
about 12 hours ago there was someone complaining about dcing 5 times, and saw multiple people dc from the game a few times each. Overall though seemed better than fri or sat

Mike O didnt want to be the head so i would probably give him a break. From what i could tell from his posts he is always open to suggestions and advice so even if he is to blame for any troubles at the studio, i would put equal blame on the staff.
Running a company isnt about one person taking charge over everything. From the stuff ive seen so far, i dont think Mike O has much to do with any Anet struggles.
Mike O’Brien is one of the co-founders and President of Anet. He is exactly where he wanted and intended to be.
In the post where he introduced himself as the new president, he specifically said he wasnt interested in taking over from Collin because it was a lot of responsibility. Unfortunately i can’t find the post. He also said his position was temporary. He might have changed his mind by now who knows.
umm ‘new president’? Mike O’Brien has been in that role the entire time… Colin never was.

Game director
“The news is that I’m taking over as the game director of Guild Wars 2 for a while. Colin will be leaving us.”
Yes but even when it was pointed out by others, ‘president’ was repeated, along with implied belief that Mike didn’t want to be president but had changed his mind. As others said, he is right where he wants to be in primary role, however also had to step into the position Colin was as well. That led to my post with the source of the initial announcement. Between this, your post, and prior posts, it should be a bit clearer as to who was in what role and why.

As I am sure has been said, if it is harassment, report them. You cannot stop them from whispering you (although it was originally stated by Anet they would not be able to do so but… yeah), but you can block them when they do. In the past, I targeted people that did that whenever possible. In fact, entire guild would seek out players even in their zergs that repeatedly behaved that way.
Why? Because it ticked them off and was fun to down a single person in the middle of their zerg and run away.
Any time you have a pvp type environment, you get people that do that. Unfortunately it’s just how it is. Block, report if it is bad, kill them when possible, and ignore otherwise.

Well I’m using an AMD GPU and an AMD CPU, with almost every graphic setting on highest, prime exception being shadows not on ultra, and not having the issues you described. It sounds more like something with your system. Although since gw2 is dx9 and dx9 is limited on vram in win10, there is the potential that it may be an issue for you. Blame MS on that.
Did you update drivers since you originally posted? Any change in the issue? Restarting every 4-5 hours isn’t a bad idea to follow anyways
And if you have updated drivers and it is still doing it, did you contact support? Are you using an overlay of some type? Or screencapture or anything else with it? All things to consider.
It’s engine isn’t going to be changed that much except perhaps eventually have a dx overhaul. Not that it would really help people the way they seem to think. Beyond that, if you are leaving it as needing to render differently, you can pretty much put that one under the table and don’t count on it.
there is no difference between 32/64 except the client itself… Of course all the game files in the dat are the same.
Could see if the 32 works fine without problems for you

idk if this works for all, but currently green and just tried testing it and could not walk through, jumped, and then went to LA.
edit: Was also tested in a blue map. Same thing, running up to asura gate you do not go to LA, but jumping will activate it.

Since HoT release, when you select Barren Heights music for example, it never changes the icon in the guild pane showing the music was changed.
As of June 14 patch, this still does not appear fixed as the notes say. Music does not change for everyone in the guild hall no matter what music is selected. Coming into guild hall keeps the music from the map you were at. Example: kept music from Verdant Brink going into guild hall that had Black Citadel music. Changing music while in guild hall and then leaving keeps whatever the music was that the player chose, but only for the player doing so.
Or is it fixed for most somehow and only affecting one guild?
Not to disagree with the idea that server identity is important, but something that’s been interesting to see is that “guest” worlds are tending to have higher ratios of “Yes” votes in favor of keeping world linking. Which I’m definitely seeing as more of a “this improves my day-to-day gameplay”, and not as a “I don’t care about my world identity”.
I have a question on this.
Is your data that looks at worlds votes also taking into account those that were on like say Eredon Terrace before the linking was implemented as opposed to those that have moved there since?
In the olden days you would still have X number of players, but instead of one blob there would be 4 different groups running around. Now those 4 groups of 15-20 voltron into a giant blob, and it isn’t as fun as it used to be.
I agree that low pop fights are better found in PvP as WvW is meant for larger clashes, but I do wish that the blobs would separate a bit more.
Yeah, but I’m not talking 5v5 fights (I am not sure why anyone thinks I want 3-5 people zergs) But I would like to have the option of one big zerg of like 10-20 people and then have a bunch of people NOT with the zerg doing support stuff. Taking camps, stopping yaks, scouting etc. That’s what I liked about being on a lower tier server as there is more strategy beyond “Blob up and fight 50-100 people vs 50-100 people”.
I am though. That’s what I enjoyed, going in with a few friends, roam for fights, take a few things in between/to get fights, have some good fights, move about the map, perhaps follow a tag for a bit and act as a gank and move off of the tag to do our own thing at any time. But when you are talking one big blob, 3-5 people would make little difference anyways. It isn’t fun for everyone, and some keep saying “well just adapt” “it was meant for 50v50 fights only anyways” “just go to pvp”. Some will adapt by quitting, how is that good? And no Pvp is not the same thing by any means.
I was in a dead tier for a year. Why would you want to go back to that. I’d understand adding another tier to lessen the queues & make a more roaming friendly tier, but going back to the way it was isn’t an option imo.
What is ‘dead’ to one person is very much alive to another. Based on prior tiers of course: I had someone tell me everything below T4 was dead and T4 was dying, while I was getting constant fights and having a lot of fun in T5 and wondering what in the kitten they were talking about, until I realized oh right, T5 didn’t have 80v80v80 for hours on end. I think this was about 16-18 months ago? Also applied to 2+ years ago though. At that time, a typical zerg was hmm probably 20-40 with smaller groups than that, especially in the 3-5 range (of which I preferred and no spvp is not the same by any means), up to a couple tags and multiple small groups around, but of course there were times of complete map queue with most everyone on that tag. But yet that was ‘dead’. Even when I left t3 and went to t7 13 months ago, shockingly there were people playing! And we got lots of fights. But again, that was dead.
And before it’s said, I had an alt in kitten see what it was like, and didn’t see what was so fun about that. It was literally 60+ people pressing 1 against another 60+ people and doing little else. So I didn’t play that again for the same reason I left t3 when my server was forced upwards, it wasn’t fun. If I want zergs near mindlessly pressing 1 for loot while following a tag, I’ll go to a HoT map or hit up world bosses (which I don’t) and if I can’t play wvw the way I enjoyed, then just won’t really play.
Also, to reiterate, the poll is flawed because even those that don’t like how they are matched up may vote yes because they see it as the idea could work the implementation just needs fixed, but instead it makes it look like everything is great.
(edited by Lunacy Solacio.6514)
well… seems I can’t whisper as easy as I could before now, but I can still see where my ‘friends’ are.. lol
friends list has been all sorts of messed up since just before the link started. It was telling me that someone in a different tier was on a borderland of the matchup I was in.
Keeping the linking is currently winning the poll. It should have been placed in the WvW subforum (as mentioned in another thread).
But where about’s did this poll originate from?
I can’t seem to find it anywhere?Because of that, and simply because there’s not an ANET logo/response, I’m not sure if I trust the link.
What is to trust? it’s at feedback.guildwars2.com
The domain is guildwars2.com just like it is for this forum. It’s at the exact same ‘site’ “feedback.guildwars2.com” that the other polls were at. There is good reason to be wary on the internet, but this is going a bit far.
(edited by Lunacy Solacio.6514)
Keeping the linking is currently winning the poll. It should have been placed in the WvW subforum (as mentioned in another thread).
It should have been mentioned, AND it should NOT be just a Yes keep world linking, No, get rid of it completely.
The poll is practically designed (even if unintentionally) to get a Yes response no matter how people feel about it. What if someone thinks the world linking could work, but it’s implementation is awful? How are they supposed to vote? Voting Yes in large percentage could be seen as if the current status quo is perfectly fine and should stick to it when that may not be what many want.
In this case it may very well be choosing the lesser of 2 evils for the majority, while too many feel like their voice is being ignored/they have no say. Hmm I just described politics too but that’s a different subject.
As said, the poll is awful. We wanted the poll put out, but this? Might as well not have done it at all. Should have known it would be just a Yes keep/No get rid of. Yes I am being critical of this, because it’s frustrating.
If the devs want WVW population to spread out more evenly from T1 in particular, players/guilds need viable servers to transfer to. Why would anyone who wants a good long term wvw experience transfer to a “guest” server that could end up being linked to a completely random server when pairings are changed again? Or worse still linking ends and players are stuck on “dead” servers.
The current system of locked host servers/open guest servers only benefits players who are thinking short term and want to jump on the “bandwagon” of whatever guest server is linked to the winner of a given tier. It doesn’t work for players and guilds who want a stable WvW experience and it’s also bad for existing servers where guilds can’t recruit new players.
Situation is even worse for new player to GW2 itself, they get to join a “guest” server that’s an unstable mass of random people (and with said instability, good luck finding anyone who can teach them how WVW works on a given tier in terms of builds/groups and the like).
Prolonging the combination of linked servers and “full” host servers is creating a poor WVW experience for alot of players that is just going to get worse as time goes on. IMO merge the lower 4ish tiers into T5 and let those players get on with building stable wvw communities. Server populations being batted around like ping pong balls for the sake of “balance” isn’t good for anyone. If I wanted “mindless mass of random people” vs “mindless mass of random people” I would play EOTM or world of warcraft battlegrounds.
EDIT: I appreciate the attention devs are giving to fixing the “dead server” situation and wvw improvements in general, I"m just not sure the devs understand how important steady/organized servers are in terms of making wvw fun to play and different from the other MMOs out there with similar game modes to wvw.
I know you put dead in quotes, and players have different interpretations of what constitutes a dead server, but unless the expectations are 24/7 50+ zergs on every map, the tiers below t4 were hardly ‘dead’ (never really got that on upper tiers either if that is the definition cutoff anyways). They just had a different activity level, and somewhat different playstyles. Oh there could be times where there were few people in, due to coverage, but as has been said many times, if those players had really wanted to be in t1/2/3 they had ample opportunity to move into it.
Reasons they didn’t move varied of course, and just some examples: some did not want how those tiers are played. Some wanted their communities where everyone kinda knew everyone else. Some didn’t want to pay the cost, which short term this system probably appeals to those, until they realize they may have to pay that cost regularly.
Others wanted away from those ‘upper tiers’ and went to the ‘lower’ servers, and now have no where left to go to get away.
This is a merged thread of feedback on the subject of world linking. While the subject is the same, not all threads had the same originating viewpoint. However, merging allows efficient review of your thoughts and also highlights dev posts on the subject, so it’s beneficial to the conversation.
Please continue to provide your constructive feedback on world linking here.
Thanks.
So does this mean this thread should be treated as the official feedback thread now instead of the one that has existed on the subject?
So it is here that we should ask for what was the top servers to not be linked, and the bottom servers to more be linked with likeminded gameplay style? The longer this goes on the less viable that really is, and the less interested some become in playing. And then when links change you get chaos…
So many things have been affected by this linking, getting to where you have friends that had moved before the change was leaked/released, now they cannot move to those servers, only the linked ones, which is subject to change anytime/2 months from now, maybe, perhaps, at Anet’s whim.
All the host servers were manually set full, in my opinion to force people to transfer to the linked server. But yes, it has hindered and hurt the host servers that do actually need to recruit. Recruiting right now is darn near impossible with no promise of the linkings being permanent and with people being allowed to stack to the t1 linked servers. It seems they are really the only servers getting the transfers at the moment. So nothing’s really changed, it’s just there are fewer tiers to lose population to T1 now.
They lowered the caps which set the worlds to full (not all host servers were full when the changes was made either, hod was not, and another wasn’t. they went full within 3 weeks though, possibly sooner wasn’t paying attention)… There is also a question if the linked world is counting against the host worlds server cap…
It was intended to prevent people moving to those servers, that isn’t in question really when it is what Anet said/implied
How will you reduce the amount of gaming system after link of the server?
Worlds that are paired will have lower population caps.
Of course large parts of this thread, and apparently the new merged thread express the concerns about the linked worlds that in large part did not want to be forced into higher tier gameplay. I left t3 a year ago to get away from this. Now, my (current) server has ended up in t3 yet again. and former t7/8 worlds… thrown into t1-2.
It’s like, Anet never bothered to ask those on the lower servers if they would have wanted to be put into the top tiers… (yes I know they didn’t ask, a bit of a facetious statement)

Tested and This trait is working in pve. Is there a specific game mode or area it is not working in?
What you are seeing with that green and blue is a corruption of your video memory (similar to what some of us were getting with the 32 bit client, it’s a memory issue, even assuming you are running the 64 bit client). Possibly due to a windows 10 bug/limitation MS put in with directx9 (it is apparently limited to 4gb memory itself across the whole system as I understand it, but I am not using win10 so I did not look into it more).
I have gotten something similar if I run another more graphic intensive game for a period of time on Win7 with a r9 280 3gb card, but never running another guild wars with it, and I had done that for a while.
Also, win10 and alt-tab of a fullscreen application can have issues itself.

Easy rules to follow:
- Just don’t duel in high traffic areas
- If you see a bunch of people standing around not fighting, don’t jump in on the lone fighters.
- Don’t seek out those dueling like they are hurting you.
- Quit making threads about this, there are countless ones created for well over 3 years. There is no point in doing so, it’s a waste of time, just like my post.
I strongly disagree with this decision. The counters are viable and, speaking as somebody who has played on both sides of this siege placement, this makes the game worse.
When one server has pushed another back to its spawn, there ought to be any reason to continue playing and logging into WvW.
The notion that vastly outmanned servers should filter out 1 by 1 to fight 1v20 is absurd.
Exploits are not, and should never be a viable counter. Whats to stop people with an equal sized force or more people on the map from using this? I will answer that for you, nothing.
Distance and that an invading team cannot make use of it at the citadel.
(although there was an invuln area that an invader could run to but except for being annoying it gave little benefit beyond that, I imagine it is still on the map and if I knew the report would be acted upon I would log in, go there, and report it for the millionth time)
Regardless of opinion on the matter, it is well suited to allow the home team to defend/take back the nearest objectives, and that is it. It does not allow them to do anything more than assist with taking back/defending home diamond.
In short, depending on actions taken to ‘fix’ this, there could be serious consequences.
(imo there are other things that should be added to discourage spawn camping while fixing this, but I don’t expect that to be done.)
(edited by Lunacy Solacio.6514)
This bug is very annoying and needs to be fixed ASAP
Yes it needs to be fixed. However, as annoying as it is, you can work around it (cursing while you do so of course. I was last night). It is not game-breaking to the extent that it prevents you from changing weapons or somehow prevents playing the game though, so it is not one that must be fixed asap but should be fixed as soon as reasonably possible.
(edit: And it has been fixed. Apparently it was an easy fix. Now, if only all the issues were that easy)
(edited by Lunacy Solacio.6514)
It has done that since before release I believe. I know it has happened for over 3 years.
Time between varies but even if no one appears to arrive or even leave, it still repeats (had checked before on what was basically an empty map no one coming or going). Sometimes it would be about every 30 seconds, other times it might be a minute or 2?
There is a reason “if Mordremoth can attack the mother tree in the grove, it can attack anywhere” is a running joke since Silverwastes was introduced…
For the record, some of us are happy with the merges; I speak for a lot of IoJers merged with JQ. Which means we don’t want to be moved every three months.
For fellow small servers like ET; make the best of your time there. There’s bound to be guilds, commanders, etc. that will take you under their wing and show you new tactics. It’s a whole different ballgame when you have to deal with massive groups. It can be fun though. Really, I mean that.
Of course it can be fun for some. But just as before this linking there were a lot of players that wanted to be in t1/2/3 there were also a lot of players that did not want to be in those tiers, and now effectively everyone is.
A lot of this comes down to choice. We did not choose to be merged with our opposite server. I, and I know others too, would have been adamantly opposed to it if it had come up for a vote. I’ve been in virtually every tier despite only ever having this, my primary (probably 99.9% of playtime) account, on 2 servers and an alt on what was a t1 server. If I had wanted to be in t1/2/3/4 I would have moved back to there or played alt account (which it was not my cup of tea so I did not play wvw there).
Now, there is no where to go to get away from it, and when things fully settle, even if t4 were to calm down to what t5/6 had been, there will be, if lucky, 2 months before it all gets turned on it’s head again.
(edited by Lunacy Solacio.6514)
there’s a real basic tldr at the bottom if people cbf reading this.
snip
I’m not sure what you’re talking about here exactly because Jan 15th was well after HoT was released. Are you talking about January 2015? Jan 15th 2016? I don’t even see anything of note on Jan 15th 2016 or January 2015 so yeah I’m not sure what you mean.
There I corrected for clarity in my post. I could have just added ‘also’ after ‘15th’ and it would have been fine as well. Still should have been understood as such but I can see that it was a source of confusion.
I was pointing out the trend itself, and indirectly how people overreacting and/or flipping and/or cutting losses hardly makes for an interesting conspiracy.
(edited by Lunacy Solacio.6514)
The ‘major’ dumps started back up on 20th March. There was a smaller one 13th March. Maybe that’s what prompted the dumps to start back up again, hard to say really. Maybe the dude just felt like the price had gone back up to what he wanted and started dumping again. Who knows. It’s pretty suspect if you ask me but yeah the other explanation is also possible.
Except the trend started before HoT, easily seen on the graphs, which offers alternative explanations and/or influences on why people might sell.
Additionally, ~Jan 15th had a very similar increase and then drop in price that March had.
Looking at this time 2 years ago, there had been a ramp up in price, and then a subsequent plummet. In fact, just before that increase in Feb ’14, looks like one had been put up for only 444 gold? Looks like someone bought it and probably immediately tried to flip it for twice what the sell price had been just before that.
This whole conspiracy thing is based in large part on a misinterpretation of data. Could it have actually happened? Can’t 100% rule it out, no. But there are plenty of other causes, some very likely.
Look at it this way. Let’s make a few assumptions. You are sitting on a few of these skins in April ‘15. Let’s say you have a dozen or so, that you had bought here and there as investments for a surplus of gold. June ’15 hits and you see your investment suddenly gain even more value. Perhaps you even take advantage of it by selling off a couple, but of course someone else has the same idea. But it works out, they all sell. Sept ’15 rolls around, and perhaps you get a bit nervous. Remembering that in ’14 Anet had a raffle giving away 100 of the shields. You think to yourself, What if they did something similar this year? What if they add it to the mystic forge? Or give some new way to get the skin?
HoT release date has also been announced, what if a new legendary drops the demand for ghastly grinning shield a bit? The price is the highest it has ever been. So you put a few up for sale. Someone else may have the same idea and do the same. This could cause yet another person to get nervous the bubble may be popping on it’s value, causing them to also start selling off stock. On the other side, buyers are afraid the price will go back up at any time, and the current price is now the lowest it has been in a year. That starts to slow the drop in price, even goes up a bit, until someone else decides to dump some of their stock which in turn triggers others to do so.
Although put a bit crudely, these are things that should be taken into account. Given the relatively small supply of the skins, this pattern is one that should be expected. I didn’t even include above that with the release of HoT, perhaps someone wanted to get liquid gold in preparation for everything anticipated and hoped for out of HoT. Perhaps to dump into other things for speculation. There are a myriad reasons someone might start selling off a few high priced skins, and a myriad other reasons someone else might start doing the same, but with nervousness at an apparent price drop thrown in. This can and does quickly cascade into the bottom falling out.
And now, people know that the mystic forge could give the halloween skins, albeit rarely, so with an increase in effective skin supply (I am saying effective because while it is a weapon not the skin itself, it accomplishes the same thing for those wanting the skin), there is nothing to raise the price right now.

From the sounds of things, some players had a bunch of Halloween weapon skins but were only selling them 1 at a time on the trading post to keep the prices high.
Then players found they could get certain skins from the mystic forge, and this lowered the value of the Halloween weapon skins as more players tossed items into the MF. The players hoarding their skins dumped them all in the TP to get as much gold as they can before they became worthless.
Except the drop in price started about the same time we were told the release date of HoT.
Looking at the history quickly, I don’t see anything really surprising. About the time we started to really know the date when HoT would be released, the price on this started to drop. As said above, at least in part that could have been liquidating things to prepare for HoT, as well as the chance of more of the shields appearing on the market come halloween. There were rumors like that, and it had happened the prior halloween after all.
Actions like that, even by just one person with how few have been available, can have a cascading effect. People see a sudden drop and get spooked, quickly selling their stock. This, in turn, spooks other investors, and so on. There are many factors that need to be taken into account.
What I’m interested in, is why in early Feb there was an apparent increase in the volume of buy orders of over 16,000 for a 48 hour period, without the price really increasing, or more being sold or bought. Glitch in data? big push to temporarily store money in the trading post buy orders that wouldn’t really get filled anytime soon? idk. Far too lazy to find out if something happened with the reports pulled from the trading post by websites.

then that is how it should be, and you should be moving your guilds to the bottom of the board.
The reason a lot of us moved off of the lower tiered servers is because those servers made it very clear to any and all guilds/players that were wvw focused that we had no place there as part of the larger “community”. Especially if we had a desire to be competitive and win the matchups. Servers like BG, JQ, TC, YB, etc are the servers that welcomed the people who wanted to win and play on a more competitive level.
So unless those lower tier servers have a change of heart and want to be competitive and want to climb the ladders or stay in the top tiers why would we want to move back down and deal with all that frustration? Why would we want to hear how our “elitist” attitudes (aka competitive attitudes) aren’t welcome?
The reason that I personally saw for not wanting the ‘elitist’ attitudes in their wvw, was because those in the same situation you are describing (not saying it is the reason for you seeing it against you but considering responses…) were expressing every negative connotation of ‘elitism’. I like to roam, and I dislike being on a zerg. Sometimes you do it but primarily I’d rather avoid it unless for a good fight, then I’m back to small group things after. Those playing like this don’t exactly like being told to get off a map or get on the tag because they aren’t contributing.
I’m going to stop here and state: As long as they are not standing around in WvW indefinitely doing nothing at all (continued in spoiler for space)
, how are they not contributing in some way? Really, even those not in wvw might actually be contributing in the form of money for siege or armor or trinkets or talking with community about planning or whatever. In fact, my small group were at times taking more objectives than the tag, even though we were there for fights. But hey, guess what? Those fighting are also contributing. Additionally, those preferring small group are not any less competitive than those following a zerg. In fact, I’d argue those fighting can be more competitive than those following a tag.
This is not attacking zergs, they have a place. Some prefer to fight others prefer to back-cap. At best, my relationship with a zerg would be to play off the tag during a time it’s needed (from our interest and viewpoint) and then go do our own thing.
At this point, before this merg…. err ‘Linking’ I had been active in most every tier, and my server had been in every tier. I’ve seen it from the 4-8 hour queues of release to the virtually every map being empty, to server rebuilding and winning big. I stayed on my home server for the community even when the fights were less than ideal. And I left my server after it was forcibly merged against it’s will causing queues, the shakeup to a pleasant status quo, the inevitable drama, large zergs and harassment if not following The Tag, did I mention drama? All that and more is precisely why I went to a lower tier server, and although had more warning this was coming than my server had before, thanks to a ‘leak’ and a few grains of information provided direct from Anet on what was coming, this was still effectively the same thing. Only advantage is that in this case a linked world can’t blame the host world for coming in and taking over, as Anet is the one that instituted it.
My concern even before reset was that the linked world would either feel (continued in spoiler to clean up large post)
like they aren’t wanted, leading to friction that would only continue to be exacerbated, or the host might attempt to ‘take over’ the linked world completely instead of addressing each others concerns and getting along. Some of these issues might not be apparent at first, but this could completely destroy a large number of communities.
And here is something that, while intended to be a positive thing, also has a very negative consequence. Anet isn’t treating it as a ‘true merger’ and they can change the linking at will. This leaves the smaller linked worlds in limbo, so that even if they are able to make the best of the situation, and the host world is friendly and inviting, what about when links change? Yet again their community is thrown into a disarray. This necessitates that the linked world try to maintain their own community while their host ‘neighbor’ is effectively able to call all the shots. What if the host world isn’t friendly (yes I’m generalizing because no better way to present this, of course not everyone on the server is toxic but some servers have a few people that are a bit more toxic than some other servers)
It’s a beta test, yes, but it completely affects current(well current as of before reset) server identities and communities, and whatever comes out of this WILL have lots of short term, and most definitely, long term consequences. For good or bad, these effects will likely be irreversible, even if this test is ended in a few weeks.

Everyone keeps telling me wvw supposed to be 80v80v80 massive zerg fights and back in the old days the queues where normal on most servers so suck it up. Im sorry but i started playing wvw a year ago and you rarely queue 2 maps let alone 4. In HOD and Ebay queue we had at least 150+ people waiting. Its reset night i dont mind a 10 man queue but when half you guild group cant even got on the same map and then get wipe by 60+ people it really does take the fun out of play with your guild. We need t5 and t6 back in na just so its a bit more spread out. Only 12 servers is stuipd and the queues are just going to worse if more people stay and people join the game. Im sorry i dont want to wait in queue for 4 hours to play wvw on reset night
That is why there were many that would actually avoid reset nights, being hard to get your group in together and just getting run over if you try to do anything that isn’t sitting on a zerg. In all honesty what I saw at reset, and what I’ve seen said here is precisely what I expected. While I never went to ET, I did leave my home server a year ago after some drama bs suddenly appeared, and forced in a tier that hated. It was so nice to be away from the queues and the large blobs, to be able to play wvw without being forced to sit on a tag of 60+ just to do something.
Much like others have said, if wanted large zergs, would have gone to t1/t2 before.
Yes queues will likely not be quite as bad going forward, but no it is not entirely just because of the changes, although people seeing queues like seen at reset is likely to make at least some not bother trying at subsequent resets, especially if the weekend still sees queues.
At this point, I’m rather more interested in how the servers are going to deal with the drama between groups that will occur (especially in certain cases now, or in the future with changes to linked worlds, where some that for reasons cannot stand each other find themselves forced to play for the same team), how the linked servers will work together, how the smaller link will maintain identity, and how many will try to control their linked server, etc., than I am with actually going in wvw at all.

Here are the worlds for NA:
Now: 12 Worlds – 4 Tiers
Previously: 24 Worlds – 8 Tiers
- Yak’s Bend & Anvil Rock
- Blackgate & Eredon Terrace
- Jade Quarry & Isle of Janthir
- Tarnished Coast & Kaineng
- Dragonbrand & Sanctum of Rall
- Fort Aspenwood & Borlis Pass
- Sea of Sorrows & Gate of Madness
- Maguuma & Devona’s Rest
- Stormluff Isle & Crystal Desert
- Darkhaven & Ferguson’s Crossing
- Henge of Denravi & Ehmry Bay
- Northern Shiverpeaks & Sorrow’s Furnace
Hmmm… I give props for that DR and Kaineng swap. Though the fact that the leak was real is an issue.
Reason for that swap was the change in population before it was locked in I bet.
seems like it’d be a hard thing to action against, if someone comes up while I’m on my ranger and I think I’ll only be gone a minute I could leave, but then an hour could pass or something similar where I’m not able to get back to the computer; how exactly do you action against that?
You wouldn’t be purposely circumventing the auto-kick system I imagine, unlike the AFK farmers. You’d be in the server for an hour until the game kicks you out.
There are a number of ways you can remain in game for far longer than an hour in pve while being afk without using a 3rd party application. Just watch the afk farmers if you want to learn how they do it.

How do other games deal with it? It isn’t exactly a new thing. There are many different things that could be done. One of which might be to fix the issues with AFK detection which would have the result of not easily allowing people to afk without being kicked, perhaps not kick while people are chatting, and for those wanting to circumvent it, requiring them to use a 3rd party application instead which would then fall under botting.
Even without the ability to take action, to come out and say it is ok, just encourages even more people to do it that otherwise were too worried to do so. It had an effect to discourage it even without action being taken.
