All the characters I logged in on yesterday have this issue, but not any of my others that I’ve checked.

Edit: As others have seemed to notice too, it appears to just be a UI bug for training, story, collections, daily achieves, assume a few other things too. Although a few players have other issues like losing legitimate access to HoM so some things are more serious. It may extend beyond just those, but primarily we just need to make sure Anet is aware so they can fix it. I’m sure they are by now though.

Bunch of diehard whiteknight (you know I’m talking to you) and corporate shill defenses in this thread.

Just another Dev you can’t put enough trust in to make pre-ordering a safe bet.

Anet is hovering just over Rocksteady and Ubisoft on my meter of trustworthy/competent Developers now.

I like the misuse and/or misunderstanding of some terms. I think even those saying to let Anet fix it properly are actually rather critical of Anet and hardly white knights. But some have an understanding of what is actually required to fix something like this. For someone to be a shill, they would need to be basically hired to fulfill those roles, would they not? Or otherwise benefit. Although I suppose if you think everyone that isn’t absolutely of the same mind as you, are hired either to undermine you or somehow to appease people? My how some things don’t change.

Now, my question for those that have been ranting and raving. Does what has been said here today convince you that they have been working on it and that it will be resolved soon? Or will the requests for more updates start all over again tomorrow?

Thank you for your time way beyond your job Lauren. Don’t envy you willingly stepping in front of rabid wolves >.>

SInce a certain made such a long response (namely Lunacy Solacio.6514), I will make mine short & sweet.
If this fix is so “risky”, why did they break it in the first place? They expect their players to “play by the rules” and they should as well.

To be honest, with all the hype of HOT and Dev. team being so “hush hush”, I’m not expecting the relaunch of the HOM till the release of HOT (if they remeber about it at all). I have just lost faith.

I’m a certain? Cool.

The fix is risky because it’s editing accounts directly. Specifically parts that were not meant to be edited. Even if it works exactly as it should, things could still go wrong. You can read exactly what the devs said yourself as to ‘why it broke’. Chris Cleary stated why. If you want to find the threads, you can click on my name, go to all messages by me, search the page for ‘forum-en’. The links will be on there to dev posts on the subject. I suggest Page 2, but bottom of page 1 right now still will show the link. On one of the links, you’ll need to go to an earlier page than what I linked for the detailed explanation. If you want to see it, it’s there. If not, there is no point in my posting it yet again and making this longer so your reaction will seem to be TL;DR.

You don’t need 50/50 to get the GWAMM title the “honest” way. I have 42/50 in GW1 and got the title in GW1. I think it is either 30/50 or 40/50 (not quite sure which one.)

May not be ‘to me’ but I’m going to reply to it anyways.

You could have 50/50 in HoM and not have GWAMM. You could have GWAMM and have no more than 3/50 in HoM. It has nothing to do with HoM itself. Of course that would mean the person intentionally didn’t put a single statue up in GW1, but the possibility is there. GWAMM was maxing 30 titles on a character.

Getting 50/50 in GW1 is actually easier than GWAMM.

No, I do not think badly of the developers of this game & I am not expecting “miracles”. I am only expecting them to address a high-profile problem such as this, fix it, and relaunch the fix in a timely manner. That is called good customer service. 4 months is NOT a timely manner and ALOT of people like me are frustrated that it isn’t already launched. Everything is all about HOT nowadays, and there are many, many “bugs” in this game that need to be fixed before HOT should even be launched. Why put more “bugs” in a game via expansion when the core game already has “bugs” in it?

As far as these “details” you speak of? Can you please show me where they are? I have yet to find anything that has a set date just “soon” or “eventually.” Maybe which major patch update, and when would be great.

If you spend all your time fixing every single bug, in any software, you will never get anything new. In something as large as an MMO? You might as well go ahead and close the server before you start. At some point, you make and release an expansion. You know, like the player base has been demanding.

Anet pretty much never releases a date for anything. We’ll know the date at best a week before it’s implemented. I never said there was a date anywhere. Saying that we have been given a lot of information, far more than is normally given, does not equal a date.
Think about what we are normally told about patches and fixes. At best we get the notes, about 10 minutes before the patch is released (usually 5 mins), with a lot of what has been changed.

We have been told:
*One programmer is working on the fix.
*He is meticulous, and determined to try and get it right the first time.
*It is not a simple fix, which should be obvious to all but isn’t.
*There were not tools available to edit accounts in this way because there was no real need to do so before.
*The fix is risky because it’s editing what was essentially never meant to be edited.
*Fix was being tested against everyone’s account that was affected.
*This issue was caused by a miscommunication between servers.
*It could have been far worse if the HOM was accessible in GW2 at the time this occurred

What this means:
*One programmer to avoid a ‘too many cooks ruining the soup’ situation. It’s possible he requested to be the one, and of course everyone is busy with HoM. But who else might be familiar enough with the situation to be anything more than a hindrance?
*This is also not going to be his one sole job duty. If you have ever worked in a corporate environment, or if you have ever written complex programs or scripts, you should have an inkling of the work load, especially when ‘priority’ situations arise. This is hardly game breaking. If it is breaking the game for you, I suggest going and doing something else, and check in on the patches occasionally.
*The fix is risky because of what it is editing. If done incorrectly, it is likely that it could corrupt accounts. How many people would this tick off compared to those upset over HoM rewards not being accessible? It would also cause Anet and this programmer even more work, so of course they are going to do everything possible to avoid this. Even being careful, it is likely a bug could still be introduced, so it’s being thoroughly tested. Isn’t this what so many people on the forums are normally calling for? It’s not realistic for everything, because you would have these kinds of waits, but this must be working perfectly when it’s implemented or it’s possible Anet might have to restore the entire database and practically start over again on the fix…

Now, compared to most issues, we are lucky to get a ‘We are aware and working on it’ and that’s it. Should they spend time responding to every thread that has someone demanding they do so? Solution to that would be to ‘triage’ those that aren’t of high enough importance. But that raises more questions, like, should you even take the time to say ‘we have nothing more to say at this time’, and so on. Are they the best at communicating with us? No, but so many people demand so much, and when they do communicate, THEY GET A TON OF FLAK ABOUT IT, so why should they? We have gotten far more than they need to tell us, and all I see people saying is basically, “They didn’t address my specific concern right this minute” and “They didn’t tell me the precise second of the minute of the hour of the day of the week of the month of the year on when this will be released.”

They can’t tell you what they don’t know. Should they come out daily and say “It Will Be Ready When It’s Ready™”? Seems rather pointless. And if they did that, they’d still get a ton of flak. So I’ll ask again, why bother?

This is an issue that has occurred since probably beta of GW2. It has been discussed countless times on the forums. Result is basically this:
It seems random, can come and go away.
It’s something between Windows, GW2, and mouse drivers.
It can occur for days to weeks, and then just vanish as suddenly.
Something as simple as restarting your computer might help. If not, you can try reinstalling the mouse drivers.

I do not allow Razer Synapse to update once I was free of the issue. This has reduced the incidence down to almost non-existent. The random GW2 patch has ‘broken’ this, but normally for only a little while. Restarting the computer might eliminate this when a patch makes the issue apparent again.

I don’t know if Mods are enforcing the infractions for necro-ing old posts now or not, so you might get lucky on that, but that behavior is uncalled for, and isn’t going to encourage a response…

I’m not sure there is a worse situation than this. You want small groups? Come in Underworld you’ll love it.

You moved by choice. We are gonna be forced to move out because we can’t freagin play a kitten gamemode we PAID for when we got the game.

I’m mixed on a ‘No Rally’ week. It is really messed up that you can be fighting 3v3, down all 3 enemies, and even without anything nearby that can be killed, one or 2 will suddenly rally because something was killed halfway across the map (not even levelup, just a rally, but levelup too for that matter which eventually won’t be an issue). But there are so many times that fighting 3v5 or 3v7, the 3 can kill all of them but one or 2 sometimes get downed during it, and this helps to get them up. A no rally might tip the scales in favor of numbers in a skill vs numbers fight. Personally I think rally needs to have a shorter radius or at least a much shorter tag time it is based on, instead of something tagged earlier a distance away dying and rallying them magically.

I’d be against a ‘no down state’ week for the reasons I’m iffy on a no rally. I get the frustration in a fight when you’ve already beat them but they rally and get away, or get power rez’d constantly, but as much fun as it can be to burst someone down occasionally, a good fun fight, whether even or outnumbered, is far more enjoyable. But I’d be afraid this would just literally be a week of ‘burst or be burst’. Especially as damage is currently. For only a week perhaps we could see what happens, but I just don’t think it would be enjoyable, much like leveling and being insta-dead because you haven’t unlocked the ‘ability’ to downstate isn’t exactly fun.

Perhaps as a test though, we could have a no Player vs Door week? Or at least players, phantasms, minions, etc., can’t do damage, or can’t do much damage until a gate is below 5% or so? Or every attack on a gate puts a few seconds of weakness on the one attacking, siege of course not being affected.

(And a ‘no siege’ situation has basically already happened before. It was a Player could only PvD to break into a tower/keep, due to a bug with Deploy siege)

You can earn the money in game… No you won’t in just a few days, but you can earn it, so that you yourself won’t have to buy gems. Yes it will mean you can’t play WvW to get the gold, but it is doable within the game.

Server merges wouldn’t actually solve anything, except ticking off others. What about the people on those servers that don’t want blobs? Think about those that moved to get away from them. I myself paid not long ago to get away from the bs and drop tiers. Solo and small group roaming was nonexistent, at every hour of the day, despite people saying that’s mostly what was there. They were delusional or lying. I was unwillingly moved up in tiers into that mess, but I most certainly willingly left it.

Free transfers created a lot of the mess of NA, and then when they did it again, it was just adding insult to injury.

I had to pay to move down, so why shouldn’t you pay to move up? And no, nothing is guaranteed if you were to move, just as staying isn’t going to guarantee you will always be in the situation you dislike now.

Granted, I am not a computer programmer, but I do work in customer service. One cannot argue the fact that this problem isn’t going to go away on it’s own, no matter how much “Heart of Thorns hype” they stick everywhere. The HOM is a key part in linking the lore of GW1 to GW2 and ALOT of people like me worked hard to get all those goodies and now can’t get them because a develper blunder? Yet, in the past 4 months,we have had no update on it’s relaunch or progress other than the generic “soon” or “eventually.” The HOM needs to up, live and soon and WAY before the launch of Heart of Thorns.

Yet, we have been given a lot of information, far more than is normally given. On this issue, there has been very little ‘generic’ and quite a bit of specifics on what is going on. What more do people want? Well obviously miracles and forget about the risks involved.

This part is general and not targeted at an individual: If you think Anet is going to just sweep it under a rug and forget about it, that they would rather throw out hype to distract, and ignore what they’ve promised, then why are you playing the game if you have such a low opinion of the developer?

That wasn’t supposed to allow you to leave that way while in combat -_- I had thought it used to block you from leaving. That definitely explains what has been happening, why so many keep logging. Knew they were, but had started wondering why I wasn’t getting bags.

If you are downed, you still log in dead, but no armor damage, just checked.

Revenant Skill Queue

I figured it out. The invocation line first trait “Swirling Mists” is the problem. Using a skill summons an orbiting globe of mist when you spend energy. This extra effect counts like a skill in the queue eating up the second skill that was queued.

It should be noted that the engineer trait “Static Discharge” has the same issue with the static discharge being placed in the queue and canceling out the second queued skill. (Note: It’s likely that any trait that causes a cast/summon creates this issue! It would be a good idea to review any traits that cast/summon and confirm the behavior.)

This is however a much bigger problem with the Revenant since the trait “Swirling Mists” is unavoidable when taking the Invocation line.

I really hope we will see this fixed in the next beta.

I can see how this is doing it with all classes. Trait behaviors were changed, and activate differently, often after the skill they are supposed to activate on (like Mesmer “Mender’s Purity”).

The only issue I’ve seen isn’t actually involving the build editor…

Warrior minor trait “Thick Skin” is showing only +20 toughness, and not +120, in game.

edit: -_- this should actually be in Bugs since it’s a bug in the game…. yet was moved here. Although since there is alreadya warrior bug thread, this could be helpful to let people know the editor is right, not the game on this.

Stealth already breaks when the one in stealth deals damage.

If you are in stealth and get hit by anything, you are already getting punished by taking damage, and the one attacking probably now knows where you are anyways. People keep acting like being in stealth makes you some sort of invincible deity. When facing a mesmer, especially in wvw, there is no guessing as to whether or not you are looking at a clone or the target if anyone is remotely paying attention. If people are consistently attacking clones with high cooldown skills, or worse stomping clones >.>, then they have a serious learn2play issue going on, and giving them an ‘easy win’ is more broken than the very thing they are complaining about, much like many ‘suggestions’ I’ve seen. You know, like this one.

Ranger already has Sic ‘Em which is 2k range. 6 second lockdown so they can’t stealth. And yet, you want to force reveal 5 targets at 1200 radius for 10 seconds because you personally have an issue against stealth. Worse, while using stealth.

Ranger longbow already hits at near 1800 range because projectile tracking, and is able to hit for 3k+ auto attacks. And that isn’t even talking about rapid fire (even dodging it once I’ve been hit for 8k on a not even full zerk character, we are talking backstab level damage even having dodged part of the attack, at 1500+ range. So should I also be complaining about this? I think it would have a place in the argument) or the ‘pew pew’ while pretty much safe up high on a wall.

Barrage isn’t 45 second cooldown. It’s 30s untraited, 24 traited, and besides, i’m not saying to randomly attack haphazardly. That’s just wasteful. Ele some, and to a larger extent engi, is capable of doing that if they want to but even then, do it smartly. You know where they were, you can learn what they will most likely do next. And even thieves have a limitation to how much and how often they are able to stealth. Initiative is a factor you know. SR makes them vulnerable to AoE because they can’t leave it before it ends without being revealed.

Yeah this issue has been occurring for a while, longer than even the 6/23 patch like some have mentioned. It’s I guess not as severely noticed on others as it is on rev? But still has been a problem. Also has been an issue stowing a weapon to stop an auto attack (probably related to trying to fix people abusing it) but it makes it difficult to stop auto attacks like say when feedback is on you, or confusion.

There is no counter to reveal currently. But you can use aoe damage, you can learn learn what someone in stealth is going to do, where they probably are, etc. I have downed so many thieves while they were in stealth, just by knowing what they will do next. Have a problem with a playstyle on a class? Learn to play it.

And let me get this straight, this thread, and many others, from someone using rune of the Trapper while complaining about stealth? The irony…

And let me get this straight, so basically 5v5 you won, but 2 versus you while rest of your team was fighting the 3 was a problem?

sounds like you should have accomplished a lot keeping those 2 busy… But again, you are talking about 2 people facing you, and you were still downing them? Perhaps you are the op one?

edit: As for the original post, is that supposed to be 2 thieves bursting you? I can see that happen if they hit at same time with all skills, but that’s 2v1 again… (or is it 3v1 counting the mes? then for sure you should expect to die, in this ‘new meta’ or the ‘old meta’… What could 2 wars do with eviscerate? Or say oh idk, 2 zerk rangers on even just auto attacks? Or just 1 zerk ranger? Don’t even have to go full zerk to do a lot of damage.

The op stated 32 bit, and no information on the cause of the crash was given, hence why the dev asked for the crash log. The linked crash log is from someone else, and may be completely unrelated. Without knowing that, there is nothing really even to hint at what is causing the crash.

And 64 bit windows wouldn’t necessarily help with memory issues, depending on specific circumstances. It will once all programs are 64-bit, which won’t occur til more people are using 64-bit operating systems, and all that may be unrelated.

Your best bet would probably be to contact Lavasoft. Even lavasoft products including adaware have been bundled with some downloads, and it is far too easy to install bundled stuff that you don’t want.

It is also associated with Web Companion (which itself is part of ad-aware, but also available separately), and this may be what was installed.

guesting can be used to be more likely to end up on a different copy of a map, especially if you aren’t repping a guild when you do it. It can be used to find an open dungeon, or just get to a different map to see different people, or when say a map is bugged like the waves of people dying randomly, etc.

Allowing anyone to influence another server at a whim with ‘wvw guesting’, would be detrimental in a myriad of ways.

Upcoming "Golem Rush" event... Thoughts?

Considering that omega golems are already a problem, can hit siege just about everywhere even when it really shouldn’t be able to, and how much of a hassle golem rushes already are to defend against, My first thought upon reading this was a bit of cursing directed at Anet and whomever thought of that idea.

Well, july 17th-24th will be ktrain week in WvW, I suppose. Probably won’t be much fun for roaming :/

Just two things:

1) They didnt say its going to be free. Golems are expensive as all kitten. Basicly, its going to be a money drain for already poor WvW players in order to have a week of “fun”. Because if you dont buy a golem, you’re not going to have fun when the enemy come with 40 of them. Good luck roaming. Its not going to work. You can look forward to spending 500+ gold in the coming week.

2) As long as the server matchup doesnt count toward glicko I dont really care. Sounds like a good time to take a vacation from WvW and do a little sPvP. Because they wont dare to kitten up that without causing an outrage from high end sPvP streamers.

#1, If it turns out how I expect it to go, probably won’t bother going in at all, might take the week off, because it’s going to be boring for most of that time, both for those using golems to attack and those trying to defend when severely outnumbered (read: pointless). Only fun to be had will be how many can you destroy, knowing how much money they spent.

#2, It will. Unless they listen and decide it won’t. I’ll pass on sPvP, I don’t think those I’d go in with for a full team will be on that week, and those attitudes there.

It does in fact activate, but it starts activating the actual mantra skill a bit after the heal fully finishes, which causes quite a delay on the condition clearing. Sadly it seems like a lot of traits are behaving similarly.

Despite the trait working this way, it is still very worthwhile to take for the clear.

The proper thing to do is indeed to report in game. They’ve said to report as botting. They have taken action on that, issue is they have to see what is going on, so it often gets missed.

The only real difference between condition and power builds, is that on condition builds, you get to watch your life draining away, contemplating the meaning of your existence. Of course now you get less time to contemplate that meaning, but really the damage is about equal. Although the fact one player is capable of stacking 4k+ burns is a bit ridiculous, 6k definitely is. With clears, you are negating damage, similar to how a block negates direct damage (or even application of a lot of conditions), etc.

No one should be prevented from going through a portal just because they are put in combat, otherwise how are you ever supposed to get in a tower that is under attack to defend it?

To be honest, if they wanted to lie about it, they could have done so weeks ago. Enable the HoM and say they fixed it.

If they were going to lie why would they lie like that? A much better lie would be too say they were close to finishing it and then just not release the fix for over a month because it would get people off there backs. btw, they said they were close, seriously. to the fix about 33 days ago

I suppose you’ve never done something and thought you were close to being finished, then discovered you only just started? Things happen, and there were responses after that one that you are referring to, I’ve given links to 2 of them before Lauren responded.

Some locations it won’t register, like in the fractal hub, and certain other floors, even though the ring is there, and dragon’s tooth hits, it doesn’t activate blast finishers. But in most areas it works fine. LA was a bit iffy when I was playing around after patch.

Yup, it’s so lame. No way to counter it especially if the engineer comes in stealthed.

Echoing a myriad of teef discussions. l2p against stealth. If you get ganked, too bad. It’s pvp (lite); it’s not Let’s-All-Sing-Along-with-Barney-the-Purple-Kittening-Dinosaur-Play-Hour.

One shot? Be less glassy. You don’t get killed by GB if you’re not being too classy… I mean glassy.

You could have 26k health on a necro, and grenade barrage with grenadier will still down instantly. It isn’t the same regardless of the sarcasm.

The current skill state (or balance) is not going to fall under a situation where we would consider it an “abuse of a bug” or “exploitation of a bug”.

This is really the same situation as when the Mesmer fall trait was in a state where the damage was significantly too high.

No we aren’t going to action players for that.

So people using the bugged guardian trait on say, teq will not be banned? I don’t think they should personally because then you are basically telling people not to play guardians, but I want it to be clear.

I think myself that it’s a pretty clear statement. If the guardians were using the bug to get an unfair advantage other over players or to mess with the economy, it might be a different story, but as it is, they’re basically just using the bug to kill Tequatl faster for the same rewards as they would have gotten without the bug,

Teq or dungeons isn’t all it’s being used for… Quite a mess in WvW.

By definition it is an exploit. Per the Dev post, as you quoted that part, they are not ‘considering’ it an exploit due to “the current skill state”, so they won’t be actioning on it.

It needs fixed ASAP, and people abusing this broken trait intentionally, is still unethical and unfair. Just because ‘everyone’ can do it doesn’t make it right. It is still disgusting,

No, running it for hours is abusing an exploit for own purposes, in this case even if you “don’t care about ppt” that’s a lot of champ bags from the lords, that’s a lot of people’s time and money wasted in seconds from an exploit. WvW is not PvE.

Show how it was done once, don’t cap what you take the gate down to show, Send it to Anet, and you DO NOT use it again. Otherwise you really aren’t any better than those ‘hacking’ the client.

And to be honest, abusing an exploit in this manner can result in bans, and situations like this truly do warrant them.

To be fair, it’s not REALLY an “exploit”. I mean the skill is working as it is currently set up to work, and while I’m sure Anet intended for it to work differently, they overlooked something in it and now it’s working wrong. However, to call this an exploit would essentially mean that ANY PERSON playing a Guardian and using that skill right now is “abusing an exploit”. So please just calm down okay lol.

Intentionally taking down gates in seconds, for hours, is abusing an exploit. In the scale shown, it is definitely exploiting the skill that is not working as intended, in a competitive environment.

There’s an update and thank you for giving people more information, and going out of your way to give updates on many issues across the board.

I don’t think constant updates should ever be needed, but I know it is appreciated on many levels.

Edit: And hopefully it reinforces with people that this is not being ignored at all, that it is being taken seriously and will be fixed. Taking time so as not to risk messing more things up when it is implemented.
