According to the skill to drink the omnom juice, it is supposed to decrease your health by 10%. According to the skill to drink water, it is supposed to increase your health by 20%.

These are SWITCHED. Please… please fix this. It’s hard enough to attempt to get a strategy going to beat Adnul and the others… when you’re losing 20 every drink, you can only drink 5 times before you’re dead.

I thought it might be because I’m a necro and my normal health is 23k, but that wouldn’t explain why it doesn’t heal for double, but heals for half.

Anet, please… you’ve ignored the fact that putrid mark doesn’t work… please look into this.

The spider number is absurd. It can be done, though.

If you are a ranger, keep your pet on passive. Do not use it, no matter what. Stay at max (1200 or more) range. Anyone who cannot get 1200 range, stay with those who are ranged, and kill whatever spiders might come near. Dodge the aoe circles when they appear.

Whatever you do, do not go melee… the spiders will own you, then go after your team. Don’t let minions or pets go in, either.

I usually do this with as much conditions, or long range dps as I can. It takes longer simply because of the spiders. If the spiders do come out (as they often times do), you NEED to kill them. It won’t give you much more than a slight bit of reprieve, but it should be enough to get long condition durations going.

My main is a ranger, so this path is utterly ridiculous… and has always been. It is necessary to keep the pet on passive, sadly. (So bring something you can just keep next to you, in case it decides it wants to go agro)

It’s been since the Sky Pirates second update that I noticed it. It’s happening all over the world. I’ve seen it with hyenas, risen, spiders, boars, bears, yellow and red enemies, etc. The TA blossoms are just the worst of them… because it doesn’t untarget when dead. :-/

Because F is used for ALL interactions. Loot happens to be one of the interactions that is priority, which means aoe loot is below that, so single loot comes into play first. Single loot became the priority a long while back to prevent people accidentally rezzing, and losing their loot or talking to some obnoxious npc when you’ve loot on the ground.

Just bind autoloot to shift+f or something, and when you’re on a ton of bodies, just press the extra key to autoloot, and guarantee it’ll work like you want. Otherwise, you’ll single loot ‘til it’s done.

I am sad to see that this got lost on the 8th page of bugs.

This is after the patch, now, and it’s still not working. I just tried it in the fractal Cliffside… the putride mark does not remove conditions from allies. (and, yes. I did make sure my ally was outside of the mark/well that the guy put on the ground).

Can you please look into this? As a support necro, this hinders me incredibly. Even if I were to be a minion necro, the staff mark would transfer conditions from my minions to enemies… like it is meant to do.

Please, just… look at it. Try to recreate it. Anything, really. Just don’t let this die in the bug section amid all the clipping bugs. This hinders gameplay.

It’s the same for all meta events. Due to people making new characters, and exploiting the guaranteed rare, ANet increased it where you have to be lvl 40 to get a bonus chest… on ALL meta events. Behemoth, Frozen Maw, Jungle Wurm, Fire Ele, etc.

that’s how mine has looked from the beginning. It’s always been that ugly on small font. the font doesn’t change, just the view size of the font, so the top and bottom are super clipped off.

Hi there. I thought this was just the dungeon, but I’ve recently tested it in the world, and it has the same issue. I’m in the Fort Aspenwood server, if that makes a difference… and I’m a necromancer (currently).

Putrid mark states that it transfers conditions from allies to foes when triggered. I assumed this mean if they were in the mark (as this is how it’s worked before Aetherblade patch). I recently noticed (due to the excessive conditions from the Aetherblade dungeon) that it does not work as intended.

Putrid mark will transfer conditions from ME to the enemy, but NOT from my allies within the mark.

It’s really easy to reproduce. Get a friend, get them conditioned, lay the mark down on them and the enemy (hey, you can put them in front of Mai, too, but they might die before you can mark the floor!). The conditions won’t transfer. I also tried putting myself within the mark, and the conditions stayed on my poor Mesmer buddy who was nice enough to be the guinea pig for this (it DID transfer off ME, but the mark says “allies” and I use it for support!).

For the record, I tested it on the spiders in Gendarran Fields, but mostly within the Aetherblade dungeon.

Also, in the Aetherblade dungeon, Reaper’s Mark does NOT work on Mai. Reaper’s Mark does NOT fear Mai, nor does it take away a defiance like it is supposed to. It does not do the additional damage it is meant to for those who are traited for it (like I am), because it is, essentially, not going through at all. It’s just like, “oh look, a mark on the ground, ho hum. no worries. no damage. no fear.”

…I don’t know how to video in game content, so… can’t provide a video. But the point is that the marks aren’t working as they should be.

Yeah, where’d the personal attack come from, and why was it necessary? It’s a legit complaint that portals are used for 5 second achievements for jumping puzzles. While there are some good uses for them, there are also some cheap uses for them.

There’s no need to start name calling. And aside from that, Ayrilana’s complaint doesn’t even sound like envy!

I never understood why portals worked after waypointing, either. They honestly shouldn’t in my opinion.

I usually did jumping puzzles on my ranger because I knew the jumping mechanism more on the human. I recently got portal with my Mesmer, and I realized that portals save me headaches. If I see a long jump that I’m not sure I can make, I put a portal down first. That way, if I fall, I can restart at where I was (…if I don’t die…). Sure there’s a 75 second cooldown, but for the ability to not have to do 3/4 the puzzle over again… totally worth it.

I agree it kinda sucks to get rid of the game content, but there are also people who use laptops that lag a great deal in the game and cannot make the jumps due to lag. Portals are super nice for helpin’ out guildies, or people who have spent 8 hours of frustration trying to get through a JP with no luck.

I was in Diessa and Ashford getting the aetherblades… until the recent patch that fixed the holos that weren’t working. Now every hologram I went to was a normal hologram. (that, however, was in blazeridge steppes)

I’m not sure if the Aetherblades are bugged or not, to be honest. I haven’t seen a single one since the patch yesterday.

The people who have the achievement without doing the jump have already completed the dive master achievement. The Not So Secret jumping puzzle achievement, as Nitro said, is for the actual jumping puzzle itself, NOT the diving goggles.

Diving goggles just add to the Dive Master achievement.

Just like 100% mapping, if they add new pois/wps/etc. to the map that you’ve already completed 100%, it does not make you do it again, so as to avoid regaining the achievement points.

I like the idea of the dodge roll equaling a dodge for the pet. The protection only minimizes the dmg and you have to be traited for it.

There is a pet that dodges, btw. Devourers dodge automatically… Though… they don’t dodge usefully… they just do it automatically without your instruction.

I don’t usually have a problem with my pet staying alive in most battles. There are a few where the pet just… dies… a miserable, horrible, two to three shot death (or one shot, sometimes, depending on the pet…). Most times, though, my pets can stay alive… though I do make sure they have their protection, healing spring, shared buffs, etc. And I do, constantly, tell my pet to come back to me, or attack a different target than myself, or something. I use my pets to pull mobs and sometimes sacrifice themselves for the greater good (ie players)… sad but true!

But that dodge ability… omg, that would be wonderful!

The attack range would be nice. I would like it if the devourers and spiders had different attack ranges. Spiders more akin to a shortbow, devourers more like a longbow kind of thing with the range and dmg. That’s just me, though. I like my ranged pets. They stay alive.

F1 Function

I’m honestly more annoyed that the f1 skill doesn’t always work with inanimate or boss objects.

I run with a lynx and a devourer. My slow hitting devourer is super okay with hitting anything… inanimate objects like doors, gates, supply crates, etc. to animate massive objects like Tequatl and the Jungle Wurm. My kitty? HA! You tell her to hit a door and she looks at you like you’re joking. I suppose this could just be a cat thing, but… really? Why won’t the f1 skill work sometimes with some pets? (and this has been tested by standing still, so the range was the same for both pets)

Aquatic pets, also, don’t attack inanimate objects under water. Amphibious will, but aquatics, pfft. Never.

Where should Ranger be heading?

I quickly noticed that the ranger is centered around the pet, and so I chose to be a Beastmaster from day 1. Sure, it made me a healing ranger that did minimal dmg, but hey… I didn’t care. My pet rocked. This new patch made me realize that beastmastery allowed for the hidden DPS ranger via the pet, which has since been nerfed.

It seems like there are less and less different types of builds out there to choose from for ranger. I’ve never seen an importance in shouts because, like Synful said, many of them are skills the pet should AUTOMATICALLY do, and we should not have to have a specific skill with us to make them do it. Maybe, instead, these should be our f skills. We already have a guard/passive… but essentially we only have “use your special skill” and switch pets as our f skills. Maybe our “attack” (f1) should be attack an area or group of targets, and our “return” (f3) should be the “protect my area” or something of the sort.

I would also LOVE to see the birds and pigs have their own special abilities instead of having repeating abilities. Bleed, Bleed, Chill, Blind (and blind for white raven). Why the repeat when every other animal (save for the poor neglected pigs) have their own unique skill? Why not make the hawk or eagle have some kind of a shout instead of a bleed? And give the poor piggies love! Forage Forage Forage Forage. …huzzah?

The ranger and the pet are supposed to be one fighter. So our damage singularly was not meant to be awesome. Our damage with our pet, though… that is where we shine. I don’t want the pet to go away, I just want to see the pets get the love they deserve. (Especially the piggy, I mean… who doesn’t want the Siamoth runnin’ around with them? Fugly little thing only a mother [read: ranger] could love!)

Please bear with me with this one. I might be a little confusing in my explanation.

Get all the formalities out of the way: Fort Aspenwood server, Twilight Arbor explorable… Before the choice selection for the paths.

I was playing my ranger today. My first hit did not kill the volatile bloom (not entirely a rare thing, sadly). My second hit, also, did not, nor did my third, fourth, fifth and so on. THAT is what was rare, and wrong (rangers might be mediocre in their damage, but they’re not THAT bad).

I was using a shortbow.

The health bar for the volatile bloom showed up at the top of my screen as it does for all enemies. After hitting it enough times to where it should have died, the health bar did not go away. Sometimes the volatile would trigger it’s poison cloud when my teammate walked by it, other times it would not. Sometimes the volatile would completely disappear(I think because someone else hit it), most times it would not. When the volatile did not disappear, the health bar also did not disappear, and I could not do any more damage. My ranger, though, kept shooting at the volatile bloom, when it should have – by all rights – been dead on at least the second shot since the first usually took it down to 1/8 health or some such.

It’s irritating when the enemies bug out and still show up even when they are dead, but more so when they just don’t die and you can’t figure out why. It’s also quite deadly when you can’t figure out if you can, or cannot step somewhere near a volatile without dying. Mostly though, it’s completely baffling!

I don’t have a screen shot, but I’m sure I’ll be going into TA soon enough again, and it might still happen (so I’ll try to provide if I get one).

Incidentally, I also saw the health bar staying on dead hyenas in Fields of Ruin during the Foulbear Kraal event. I’m not sure if they’re related since my ele didn’t shoot at it, and the health bar at the top middle of the screen disappeared while the one over the dead body did not. …the volatiles just never disappeared, or died.

I also do not know if it was just me, or if it was a bug in twilight arbor, but my necro guildy did say that he couldn’t kill any of the volatiles, either (with his 1 skill for staff).

Timberline Falls for Trolling Cache?

A lot of the times, the dungeons in the events will level you up to 80 in order for you to enjoy the content. Living story did that with the Southsun event, too.

I know I have run a low level character through Dredgehaunt without too much trouble (just… don’t go into the mountain!). It also helps if you have a guildy nearby or some such.

Though, also, keep in mind (since everyone keeps reminding me this!) that you only need to do a certain number of achievements for the mini. It does seem like several of the caches are in high level areas. Mount Maelstrom being one of them. :-/

Timberline Falls for Trolling Cache?

Erm… Well… As a lvl 13, that’s a tough one.

The quickest way is to go to Hoelbrak (the norn city), and take the south exit through Dredgehaunt cliffs (40-50 lvl map). Stick to the right side of the map, and take the exit in the south. That leads directly to Timberline Falls (50-60 lvl map).

From there, you’re going to have to follow the mountain and hook a left, to go up and around. The cache is just before the jumping puzzle starts, but you do have to get to the starting area. There are a few enemies there.

The way to get there via leveling up is to go north from Hoelbrak to Wayfarer Foothills (1-15), stick to the northwest of the map to find the exit to Snowden Drifts (15-25 lvl map), stay to the southern part of the map, and in the southwest there’s an exit to Lornar’s Pass (25-40lvl map). From there, take the southern exit (which is… really… REALLY far south) to Timberline Falls. You’ll be on the complete other side of the map than where you want to be for the cache, but you may have gained a few levels if you fight your way there.

edit: from Lions Arch, you can get into Gendarran Fields (north map- take the most northeastern exit from LA), and go over to Lornars, then continue down!

Others wine about the dungeon cause it is too hard and they are not dungeon players. Others whine about totally other stuff.

Why should ArenaNet now nerf this? This is a good way to get more players into the JP – some people already complained it was dead because of the seperation to an own map and no one wanted to go there.

I don’t want the JP nerfed.

I spent over an hour getting through the entire thing, only to find 10-15 people camping at the end. It was very disheartening, because when I die there, no one can rezz me, and then I have to start back at the beginning again, and spend yet another hour.

MOVE the cache. If you want it to still be there, fine. MOVE the cache to the middle, or someplace hidden… like at the fountains? In the dark room? I don’t really care where, but NOT at the very end. Give us the option to complete the puzzle which rewards us with WvW rewards that most of us won’t use.

Give me the CHOICE to do the full puzzle. (Several other caches were found at the beginning, or part way through. Why choose this one to be at the very, very end?)

Also, having ONE achievement for WvW doesn’t mean it’s geared for the WvW players. Most of the WvW players I know don’t honestly care about the new stories because they are WvW players. If it doesn’t effect them, they don’t care. Sure, the WvW changes are great for them, but that’s what they care about. So, essentially, the one WvW achievement (and technically two, since black cache is one, and the 7/7 is a second) for the STORY is NOT a good idea.

Stop trying to merge us! WvW crews hate PvE bunnies messing up their strategies!

…and I did that dungeon… and it is beatable. To do it again without getting hit though? Ha… that… um. That may to lead people not to rezz others. That’ll be fun. Pit everyone against each other, whoo! But that’s a discussion for another time, and one that isn’t really that worthy of a full post by me.

I just kinda want to make it known that I’m not upset that people are PvPing in the PvP zone. I’m upset I have to even go in there… and complete the puzzle entirely. Partway, sure. Entirely? FML. Worse than mapping.

I’m not the kinda person who reports people for doing what they’re s’poseta be doing. I think it’s kinda mean to put us PvE bunnies out for bait just so every wolf out there gets a free meal.

Worst of all… it’s not fun. At all. When you go all the way through, and get just to the very end, and find twenty enemies waiting for you… yeah. That’s the opposite of fun.

And while I’d LOVE to pull my boys out of WvW to get an achievement, that would be somewhat counterproductive in keeping land in WvW.

Guys. Anet. I love your game.

That being said. I do NOT love the fact that you put one of the newest achievements at the END of one of the HARDEST jps where every other server can gang up on you and CAMP the endpoint.

Why’s it hard? It’s long, for one. For another, we have to spend a lot of time actually focusing on trying to get through it.. with the darkness, with the jumping, dodging the traps, etc. Oh. And there’s also all the massive RED around us who are NOT npc monsters, but actual players who only care about killing you… making it so you have to waypoint at the VERY beginning or wait for someone who can take out all 20 of them who are camping.

And not only that, but we can’t get the achievement unless we have the 7th one?

So now we have to go as an entire server to do something we should be able to do as a small group?

Do you know how cutthroat WvW is?

We get it. There’s a JP there. Most people don’t go to it, and you want more people there. Fine.

Give us the option to complete it or not. Put the cache at the beginning of the puzzle and let us go on our merry little way back to our PvE bunny caves where there are no wolves.

I’m sorry to sound annoyed, but I am. I was excited about the Sky Kings addition. Now I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to get one achievement because of something not at all a part of my control. The monocle is not worth Obsidian Sanctum.

Concerning that wraith… does he have a max number of targets with his god awful life sucking aoe like we do? Or is it everyone in his path is a target, and he’s way overpowered and it’s gonna just… suck?

Sorry. We had to face him three times today at Grenth, and he went down, eventually, after some well placed life siphoning wells and massive dps… but I couldn’t tell if he had 5 targets, or all targets?

I groan every time I get this fractal. As a ranger without marksmanship, I understand that I’m limited in my range. I’m pretty good at jumping around on the ledges to avoid the bombs that knock me back. I even manage to figure out just how far outside of the circle the stupid lightning hits (because, yes. That circle is incredibly misleading, and you are NOT safe outside of it if you’re on the same platform). Once I get to the top, though, EVERY harpy is invulnerable to me. I’ve DIED because they’ve hit me, killed me, and gloated at me with their invulnerability.

I cannot help my teammates out if I cannot kill a harpy that is right in front of me at the top of the puzzle if they go invulnerable.

I understand that invulnerability was reinstated in dungeons and the like in order to avoid exploits of killing melee bosses from a range, but the harpies are ALL ranged. They should never, ever go invulnerable in my personal opinion. If they can hit us (even if it’s with a lousy autoattack), then we should be able to hit them.

As a ranger, I absolutely HATE invulnerability. Get one step higher than the enemy that can’t jump and BAM, you’re gonna have a bad day. And unfortunately, getting hit by the invulnerable foe does not always remove their invulnerability. Never has for me. (but RNG hates me, so why not invulnerable monsters, too? yay)

I’ll try to figure out how to do the log thing from the first page of this thread. I have been kicked off yesterday and today, and that’s the only time I’ve ever gotten the error consistently.

It has ONLY happened when I was in Malchor’s Leap… usually fighting Dwayna. I get what seem to be terrible lag spikes, but my fps is still at 38 to 42 or some such… which is normal for me (I don’t even know if that’s good or not!). I haven’t been kicked off any other time, but at Dwayna event, it’s terrible… even when there’s only 5-10 of us there.

I haven’t had the fireworks have this glitch, but the piƱatas most certainly do. And I don’t get the point of hitting it…

I just watched this happen. I watched the moas start, then someone either did static field, or the guardian’s hammer circle to stop them from moving. Two moas were stuck at the start. It happened further down the race and one moa completely turned around. I see that you’ve closed betting.. I’m hoping this issue is being fixed, as well, and not just the achievement?

If you’ve fought the queen, then you should be aware of the multitude of glitches going on at the moment. Including a particularly hell-bent on killing everyone invulnerable karka… so… be patient. I’m sure they’re working on it.

I’ve seen what Doggie has stated. Because the supply crates are marked as yellows, the Wooden Chest will still appear. And I have seen it off in culling-zone for myself. (It was putrid essence, …huzzah?)

So while it might stop the others from showing up, the wooden chest does show itself. Also, I’ve seen the wooden chest stay longer than the dead body, too. Hope that helps.

Guild Challenge - one chance only?

Hey guys, I can’t seem to find the answer to this, and I’ve no clue where else to post it.

Does anyone know whether or not the 5 hours allotted to the guild challenge means you get 5 hours to try and retry a challenge if it fails? Or do you only get ONE shot at the challenge, and you gotta start it within the 5 hours of allotted time?

I know the Rush, if attempted and not completed (due to everyone in the guild leaving the area before it finishes – yeah, that was silly), is allowed to be redone until it is completed. Our challenge, though, did not allow this.

I’m not sure if it’s a bug, or if it’s meant to be a succeed or forever fail thing.

Dungeon Loot - Increase as you go

I’ve been doing dungeons since my first character was lvl 30 somewhere near the first few weeks of the game. I’ve seen dungeons go from awesome to mediocre to decent to loot-craptastic to where it is now. I understand the reasonings behind most of the nerfs. And I’m gonna be completely honest, I didn’t go through all 747 pages of posts to see if this was posted or not.

So here’s my suggestion. Do whatever you feel the need to do to adjust the dungeons for playstyle. I liked the difficulty level choices, but most people just farm the dungeons. I like dungeons because it helps my guild learn teamwork, and helps them to adjust their character to different situations.

The loot, however, is absolutely terrible.

I go through dungeons thinking I may have a chance to get at least 1 rare, but no. Never. I’m lucky to get a green. And while, yes, I understand that it is a farmable exploit… I think everything is. At least dungeons can take up to half an hour. I would like to believe that much work for at least 1 item of rare or higher is worth it. Dragons take, what? five minutes to kill max? It saddens me that something I loved to do is now nerfed to the point of not worth doing.

How about you do something like was implemented in hard mode in GW1. Keep track of enemies killed. The more enemies killed, the higher chance of loot drop. The more bosses killed, the higher chance of rare/exotic loot drop. That way, by the end of the dungeon, there’s a REALLY GOOD chance that someone will get a rare, if not two or three people in the dungeon.

For someone who doesn’t farm, speed rush, or do anything overly excessive for dungeons or other such things in the game (yeah, I suppose I’m a casual play-every-day kind of person), it would be nice to see some people get something other than blues and those god awful trolls of tonics as their ‘yellow’ drop. >.<

tl,dr?

Increase higher loot rate as the dungeon progresses. Keep track of enemy kills as an additional way to increase higher loot drop. Make the LAST boss have a chest with at least one person (out of 5, I don’t think that’s pushing it!) getting a rare or exotic.

Oh, and thanks for making such an awesome game. Still hooked on it since beta.
