Do you WvW? If not, what's stopping you?

I’ve participated in WvW a few times as a level 40 + and have decided to wait until I’m a true level 80 character and have all of my spells unlocked. As I don’t have enough speed boost spells, I tend to get caught/immobilized and killed pretty darn quickly.

Massively: Where Guild Wars 2 Goes Wrong

There were some points of the article I agreed with, and some I didn’t.

I’m not impressed with the storyline at all. But that was because I was hoping I could actually play the game via the storyline itself as opposed to a couple of instanced missions placed throughout the map. I don’t hate it, but it’s not what I hoped it would be.

I love the fact that there is no trinity and no specific “roles”. But this aspect fits my particular playstyle. Not everyone enjoys this type of playstyle as some people prefer to stick with one particular role and be the best of the best in that particular role. Nothing wrong with that.

I don’t find combat “chaotic” as everyone is working together to defeat the mob. Some people are running around reviving, some are supporting other players with boons, buffs and combos while some are doing direct damage. However, I do understand that some players prefer to work a mob with a specific well planned out strategy.

I haven’t delved into crafting yet, other than to make a few of the 8 slot bags.

I like GW2, I enjoy playing it. But I’m a “casual” player and don’t play on a daily basis so I see it from a different perspective than a “hardcore” player might.

Anet will provide players with the ability to obtain “max gear” relatively easily. If you want something that is “cosmetic”, then you will need to fulfill the requirements, otherwise known as “grind” or pay someone with gems/gold to grind for you.

It really depends on how “fast” you feel the need to have your cosmetic gear. After all, a year from now those same Charged Lodestones could be available in the TP for a few silver OR by that time you could have received the necessary drop amount from just playing the game naturally.

Like any other “social activity”, you need to find a guild that you like. It will take time for some people to find a guild that is the best “fit” for them and what they want to get out of the game.

I PvE and although I don’t see “zerg” groups like I did at release. I still see people at each and every DE I come across. Once that DE is completed, they go back to what they were doing before. Just announce in Map chat that an event is taking place or need help with Skill challenge or vista and usually people will come by to assist.

While I certainly can’t say whether or not the drop rate has changed. Hubby and I never get the same drop rates. Example – both of us have the same level character (level 30) and play together. After a 4 hour session, he received 8 green drops to my 1. I didn’t even get that many “blues”. Although that particular outing was extreme, his account, 75% of the time gets better drop rates than I do. I’m not sure why that is, but no matter which professions we are playing (we have one of each). He usually gets better/more drops than I. Since we’re a “team” I end up getting use of any items he can’t, so I don’t feel too bad when I have a really bad drop day. So long as one of is getting good drops, we’re happy.

GW2 takes everything you love about GW1...

GW2 takes everything you love about GW1…and improved upon it.
1. I disliked “build wars”….so I like the improvements they made with the weapons skills.

2. I prefer GW2 playstyle compared to GW1. I like the improvement they made that professions can be melee and/or ranged.

3. LOVE that the required “trinity” is gone. We still get to work together, but you don’t have to depend on a single profession to get you through an area.

4. Still no monthly fee! Yay!

5. I will admit I don’t care much for the majority of armor sets in GW2

I agree that no “one time” events should be implemented. For “world changing” events I have no problem with the cut scene. If you are there to witness the onslaught, yay for you. If not, you can view it later on youtube. I feel that the events should be weeekend events – starting Fridays 12pm PST and ending Midnight Sunday. These events should continue through out the weekend. ie drive the karka out of the following areas of the map. This should help with the extreme “lag/disconnect” issues that have been occuring. Also this would eliminate the “chest at the end” fiasco that occurred this weekend.

Dear all: Cheer up!

I think those that lost connection have a right to be “upset”. Is it the end of the world? No. Should they rage quit the game? No. But they should have the right to vent their frustration.

what a shame. I was there trying to play but there was so much lag that I gained zero credit for the event. Then got server error and was kicked. By the time I got back in the event was over. Hopefully tomorrows “event” goes better.

Merchants & their gathering tools

Suggestion for Merchant in Stronghold of Ebonhawke:
Merchants should sell tools that are REQUIRED for that area.
There is a Portobello Mushroom gather in this area which requires (per wiki) a Darksteel or higher Sickle. Yet the merchant in that area sells the lesser Iron and Steel gathering tools. It is my opinion that when you enter an explorable area that the merchants sell the tools that are REQUIRED gathering for that area.
Obviously, I ruined my mushrooms :-(

Vanity items - is it really what people want ?

in Halloween Event

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

Yes, I want vanity items, but on my terms.
I haven’t played any MMO’s before and I don’t really care what other games do for events. I played Guild Wars. Guild Wars offered costumes for real money in the cash shop for $9.99. These were account based so any and all of your characters (each character could dye them any color) could wear them at anytime, anywhere (your current armor stats were maintained regardless of attire. The “event” weapons were available as quest rewards and were very low level so were not viable as actual combat weapons but still were “festive looking”.

I was “expecting” Arenanet to provide the same type of offerings in GW2 events as they did in their original game. Costumes as Cash shop items and weapon skins as event rewards. I am disappointed that they chose to go a different route. I will not “rage quit” the game though. I will just play the game as I normally do. If an item drops for me in an explorable area, great, wonderful fantastic, I will use it. If not, no biggie. I have no intention of “farming for gold or materials” nor do I intend to purchase items in the cash shop unless they are account wide available and are permanent keepsakes.

1. Will you or will you not be buying black lion trading company or random number generation materials again?

No

2. Did you buy them in the past?

No

3. If you would not buy trading post material/gamble, would you support direct to buy weapon skins and what general price do you find acceptable from a business standpoint both as a customer and realizing that they must make money as a business?

Example: Yes. I would buy them if they were direct purchases.

4. Do you believe that future events will also be handled with random number generation to make profit based on limited time item acquisition?

Example: Yes for at least a year.

5. If you believe that the future events will be handled in the same manner, does this realization negatively effect your trust of Arena Net in regard to handling micro transactions for permanent content?

Yes, it is disappointing but I am hopeful it will change in the future.

6. Did you obtain a skin or whatever it is you were looking to get from the black lion trading chests? From the Mad King Chests?

No I didn’t obtain the item I wanted from the chest. I also didn’t obtain the item I wanted from the Mad King Chest.

7. Have you bought any of the direct purchase, set priced halloween items. If so, will you be buying more?

No, but I am considering purchasing a costume. I would prefer that the costume be wearable out in explorable areas but given the same stats as my current armor. I don’t spend any time in the “cities” so “town clothes” are not much of an attraction for me at this time.

Will there be ANY way to get BLC content without BLCs?

“5. How will players not familiar with the information on the event, be able to find discover all the information within the game? Meaning all event related quests, what npcs to talk to, location upon logging in?”

I hope that Arenanet puts this data on the wiki when the event goes live.
