dueling

Lynne.8416

I prefer cooperative play over competitive so dueling doesn’t interest me. I don’t have any problem with it being added to the game as long as it doesn’t include the ability to “spam” me with requests incessantly. I would prefer it to be added to PvP or WvW or a brawl type of function that you must actively join as opposed to something that you happen upon in open world PvE.

Excluding community (guild/friends/etc) what keeps you playing GW2?

I’m not sure how you can exclude community since this is an MMO. But, IF this was a solo game, I wouldn’t even consider playing it.
I enjoy cooperative play over competitive so the PvP areas of this game do not interest me. Although I do WvW a bit, I prefer playing the open world PvE portion of this game with small groups of people.

sheesh, , there was no quit rage post, there is absolutely nothing in my post about quitting. I merely stated my opinion, which is the point of these threads. I prefer the old dailies compared to the new dailies. It’s really not a big deal either way to me. I play what I find enjoyable which, again, is what I stated in my post.

Well Im talking about the future rage quit. Youve stated the only thing you enjoy is pve- so when that no longer becomes enjoyable what will you do then?

The point of these threads is to complain which yeah in a way is sorta like an opinion. Sometimes they are valid but more often its just to whine. For example people whine for more content but when a piece of living story is dropped they complain they don’t want that.

Here your intetions to complain were pretty clear “What I do NOT enjoy is having to go out to a specific area and gather” but yet when you got called out on it suddenly as you’ve admitted “It’s really not a big deal either way to me”. Has it even occurred to you that once this month is over and winter dailies are removed that they can potientially factor in more daily achievements?

I don’t understand why you assume I will “rage quit” in the future? I have been playing the game since beta. I am allowed to state my opinion of what I like and what I do NOT like about the game. Just because I do not like a particular part of the game doesn’t mean I will “rage quit”. I played GW1 for several years, and I intend on playing this game for several years as well.
What I meant by my “it’s not a big deal either way to me” is the fact that this is just a game to me. Regardless of the changes that Anet has made, I will continue to play the parts of the game that I enjoy, which is PvE. IF Anet gets rid of PvE (I’m not sure why the would) then I will not be too sad to move on because I have gotten more than my monies worth of enjoyment out of this game.

I’m fine with the daily log in thing. I don’t mind doing events in whatever area Anet decides (I don’t like it, but will do it for achievement point), viewing vistas is fine too. What I do NOT enjoy is having to go out to a specific area and gather. I also am unable to complete the “world boss” because I’m not always able to play at that particular time. I PvE only so WvW, dungeons/fractal and PvP are out.

bad news bear – anet decided what you were gonna do prior to this update for dailies and monthies, now you just log in you get those rewards and if that wasnt easy enough already they don’t even reset on the turn of a new month!!!!

its only 3 actitives for 10 ap….on top of that you get extra rewards based on the activity. please complain more about how you dislike getting an extra free rare for completing w/e daily world boss. XD

It appears that the more they dumb down the game and make it incrediably easier it for no reason makes it hard for you o.0. so before you can make your rage quit posts….. can i haz your stuffs?

I spent 9 hours trying to complete that puzzle, I just suck at it.. I may try another 9 hours to see if I can complete it, but don’t know if I’m feeling up to it yet. I’m just glad you get to have a camera issue to blame it on. I’m just not talented enough to complete it sigh

Out of curiosity have you watched videos of people who have done it?

yes, I have watched the videos. I’ve gotten to the fire a handful of times and made it across those popping presents once. That’s as far as I’ve gotten.

Do you aim your jumps by turning your mouse with the right mouse button pressed in addition to the wasd keys, or do you only use wasd? The former is much much better once you get the hang of it. If this is not the problem, what usually makes you fall? Or are you too slow?

I aim my jumps with right mouse button pressed in and I move forward with the W button.
I have an issue with puzzles that are timed. If I can take my time, I can (usually after a few tries) succeed at the jumping puzzle. But anything that has to be timed, I can’t seem to complete. I’m in a hurry, so I overrun/over jump/under jump an area that I’ve made several times.

@ Anet This is another thing that truly annoys me about this game. The rewards should be based on per character via story but also allow said rewards to be obtained other ways..ie by farming crests.

What excites you about the future of GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

An open question for anyone who’s been playing the game long term:

Looking at the future of the game, what excites you the most?

What upcoming features and content interest you?

Well, Anet doesn’t announce any future features and content, so there is really nothing to be excited about. Also I’ve been playing the game since beta, so no longer get “excited”.
I would like to see guild halls, individualized home instances (the ability to add armors and minis like HOM in GW1 as well as add merchant/bank/Trading post etc).
I like that all you have to do is log in to be able to play the LS. So as long as that continues, I’ll be content.
I would like for them to fix old/known bugs.
I would like to see more in game armors added to game that you can obtain during “normal” game play (not necessarily tied to LS).
I would like them to add more dungeons.

I’m not a big fan of all of these different “currencies” as I end up with all of these odd numbered currencies that just sit in my bank because I can’t use them.
Suggestion #1: Remove Dungeon “tokens” and make it a repeatable achievement, ie once you complete the dungeon 6 times you automatically receive your choice of account bound Light, medium or heavy Full Set of Armor for that particular dungeon achievement.
Suggestion #2 make all " chest keys", “tickets” etc interchangeable. So if you have leftover tickets from a festival, you can use them (equally) with another ticket/chest key name.

Dead players dragging everybody down.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

I don’t think anything needs to be done as long as the long dead do not continue to scale the event up. This game revolves around cooperative play, which means (to me) to not only damage the mobs but to also revive the downed and resurrect the dead. As some have pointed out before, it takes just seconds for multiple people to resurrect a player compared to a minute or two from a waypoint to run back into the fray.
With this game you have a lot of diversity when it comes to unskilled vs skilled, hardcore vs casuals as well as people with slower vs fast computer and internet speeds.
The game is never going to be perfect for everyone.

If you don’t find any enjoyment in the game anymore, then move on. There’s no shame in being disappointed that you feel you have to move on. Anet/NCsoft will continue to get new players into the game. And they will probably continue to evolve the game into something that “sells”. Even if I quit tomorrow, I’d be okay with that because I have gotten my “monies worth” so to speak.

Why post?

I mean no offense but this format and forum is exactly the place and medium given for players to discuss such semantics. If your happy with the game…carry on.

I don’t get people stating “if you don’t like it just move on”.

There is nothing constructive to gain from such an attitude in a medium directly created for player feedback and critique.

I post because I’m supporting the OPs disappointment in the game. It’s okay to feel disappointed. The OP is not the only person to feel this way about the game. I also welcome these types of posts that say WHY they feel disappointed in the game. And I added MY two cents as well. I’m not telling the OP to move on…nor am I telling them to stay. Just saying it’s okay if the person feels that way.

Why Can't Farmers understand

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

The only thing that Anet doesn’t mind you farming…dungeons and fractals.
When a farm includes dynamic events, that also means that players that are just trying to complete the events and move on get yelled at by zergs that are only farming certain aspects of the event which results in the complaints and the nerf.

So farming zergs should know by now that eventually their farm will get nerfed if their farm negatively impacts non farming players.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dont get me wrong I spent 100s of real money on this game this year, but this lottery idea is even worse than Black Lion Chests.

So it is okay to have something that require gems for a chance to get it but it is not okay to have a chance to get something with in-game drops?

The problem is you are not “guaranteed” a foil wrapper. I know the pain of opening 100-200 ToT bags and not receiving a foil wrapper. The only way you are guaranteed a foil wrapper is buy buying gems. And what makes it worse is….this is only to enter a raffle which you have a slim to none chance of winning.

It’s clear that quite a lot of you would like to have greater flexibility in using the Currency Exchange. Our intention when we designed the new interface was to streamline large volume purchases, which make up the majority of transactions.

In light of your feedback, we will update the Currency Exchange so that you can decide how you want to use it. We will keep the new streamlined system and also offer a new “Custom” button on the panel that you can use to exchange any increment of gems or gold.

We anticipate rolling this out soon. Stay tuned!

First: bring back the graph
There was no reason to take it away It was beneficial for those that wanted to get the “best deal”.
Second: Add a custom amount feature.
In order to convert gems to gold I would want it to be a specific gem amount ie 800, 1600 etc or whatever amount I was gifted. So with your current system, I don’t see me being able to ever convert gems to gold as it would never “match” the amount gifted.

Precursors Drop Rate

One of the issues with birthday precursor is that you will get that for accounts that have not been played in months. Should that really happen?

what is wrong with that? Say someone hasn’t played in months, now they get a precursor of their choice on their birthday, they still have to go out and get all the mats and stuff to create their legendary. More likely, it would entice them to play more.
Edit: okay not play “more”, but play again.

Thankfully, I’m not all that upset that I don’t have one.

In addition to the RNG, I feel they should give you the precursor of your choice on your account birthday. That would also require them to add at least 1 legendary a year for those lucky/rich enough to already have all of them. Everyone wins.

Loot and the lack thereof

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

I agree that loot/rewards are ridiculously low. But I’m not sure what a proper answer is for this issue. If Anet makes loot/rewards easier to grind for this will bring the prices in the TP for items way down. BUT then you would have players leaving in droves because they’ve gotten everything they can possibly want within a month or two and Anet would need to add content more often just to retain players.

I believe that many in the player base would consider ANet adding new content more often to be a good thing.

True, but I was referring to the drawback for Anet/NCSoft (cost wise) to significantly increase the drop rate of rewards/loot. If you increase them (significantly), then Anet/NCSoft would HAVE to step up more content via expansions every year to retain the players that quickly consume content. And that does NOT appear to be what Anet/NCSoft wants at this time. It appears (to me) that they prefer keeping the loot/reward rates low so that those that have throw away money will buy gems to convert to gold to buy their in game hearts desire.
But again, I have no idea of a good resolution to increasee loot/reward with Anet retaining players.

I don’t mind Anet selling outfits (costumes) in the store because that is where they truly belong and I feel they can make as many as they want.

Reduce BL Ticket scrap requirement

Lynne.8416

This is just a shout out to keyfarmers like me.

I am always bamboozled by the Ticket scrap requirement. I mean really? 10 BL scraps = 1 BL ticket?

Scraps were already hard to come by due to the obnoxious RNG. So why 10? Why not half it? 5 scraps per 1 ticket?

And this is why I don’t play the buy keys/open a chest game. If I get a key via drop, which has not happened in like 6 months, I’ll open up a chest. But because the RNG is awful for what you actually want, it’s just a waste of money and time (in my opinion).

What's Arenanet's take on Outfits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

outfit is an outfit that you “wear” over your current armor. It does not require any transmutations and you can hide or unhide your outfit at any time.
To change armor skins, then you would need to transmute an armor skin from it’s current state to the “new” permanent skin.

edit adding: in my opinion it’s more for Role players or those that just want to throw on something festive. ie Role players may choose to don a chef’s outfit while they are crafting or gathering cooking items. Or for halloween just throw on your witches costumer or for wintersday throw on one of the wintersday outfits.
