I wouldn’t mind the unidentified dye drop were increased or at least put back into the gathering.
No, I have one of every profession.
I miss hearts. I enjoyed the majority of them. Yes, some of them are tedious, but you can say that about most things in the game.
In my state Gem Cards are taxed both in store as well as internet purchases.
Honestly, I don’t see how the “downed state” has any negative impact on the game. I may be misinterpreting the OP post, but it seems to me that the OP is complaining more about how the players run dungeons as opposed to the actual downed state. Players, in most cases, will usually choose the “path of least resistance”. Thus, zerker + stacking = quick and efficient completion. This is not the fault of Arena Net. It really doesn’t matter if there is a downed state or not as the player mentality will be to find the easiest and quickest way to kill something so they can get their reward and repeat or move on to something else.
I was never “hyped”. I just play the game. When they come out with the expac, I’ll purchase it and play it. But even if they didn’t announce an expac, I’d still continue to play the game for a few more years simply as it is. As a casual player I don’t consume content like others seem to.
Legendary weapons will no longer be legendary
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lynne.8416
I looked at legendary weapons more in the way of….we all start out as heroes, and as such, we will all have the capability of becoming “legendary” heroes the more we progress through the story and make a name for ourselves. The legendary weapons just show off how we are progressing through the living story.
Maybe we haven’t killed enough ambient bunnies yet to earn them. :-)
I do not feel Arena Net was insensitive at all. Our characters are pretending to be airplanes. The color filter used simulates a time in the past. I’m sure quite a few of us did this at some point in our childhood. This is a game and should be treated as such. If you don’t care for the April Fool’s joke then by all means take the day off. It will be “back to normal” tomorrow.
There is always someone who dislikes the annual April fools joke. It’s just for one day. Arena Net is not going to “fix it”. If you don’t like it just log off and come back tomorrow.
Player to player buying/selling is not supported by Anet, so I don’t have a problem with that being negatively impacted. I do however agree that guild events could be negatively impacted (lotteries/raffles). But Guilds will have to work around this by giving away items as opposed to actual gold or holding those lotteries/raffles less often.
I’m sure we’ll all adapt.
As far as 500g being “nothing”…I have to disagree with you. I have never had 500g and probably will never have 500g as I don’t play the game as efficiently as you. I have never run dungeons and I don’t play the TP, so I am among the “working poor” who feel that 500g is enormous. :-)
Say for example I want Bolt and never was lucky enough to receive the precursor, so I wish to craft it. But in order to craft it I need 10,000 Geodes. Can you imagine having to grind a player dead zone for months just because that’s the only area that exists to obtain the required Geodes?
Where are you getting such information from? I didn’t see anything in the news post that stated exactly what was involved with getting a particular precursor or how many mats or items would be required.
You are right, I apologize, I was reading the Map Bonuses part and thought they were still talking about the legendary.
I miss getting a surprise dye from harvesting plants
me too
Well goodness, with my terrible fighting capabilities I certainly wouldn’t last long out in the world.
The Charr area is out just because it’s rather ugly and I’d hate to continually fight the branded.
The Norn area is out because it’s just too cold.
The Asura area is out because I don’t want to become a science experiment of the inquest
And although the Sylvari area is pretty they don’t interest me much.
So I guess I’d have to stick with the human race because I like Divinity’s reach and Queensdale the best as far as aesthetics go.
I’d be a Ranger as I’d prefer to roam with a pet.
I’d probably just help the widow Farmer Eda deal with the spiders and keep her apple orchard safe. I’ve heard she makes the best apple pies :-)

I did not experience any crashes or disconnects.
I enjoyed the story and didn’t seem to have any issues getting through it.
I can’t remember the specific event names (sorry). But the first two times through the “salvaging” and obtaining and delivering the explosives event I would click on the interact button but it didn’t do anything. However the third time I participated without issues. I don’t believe I experienced any lag because I could attack creatures.
I only earned two mastery points and was unable to apply or equip them to any line.
Because I couldn’t apply any mastery points I was unable to use the mushroom jump
Wyvern event – I thought was fun, but found the melee weapons were pretty useless since the wyvern was usually standing in a fire so went with ranged weapons.
Gliding – this really stumped me. As long as I jumped off the ledge toward the updraft, I didn’t have to “do” anything. The glider wings automatically deployed and it brought me right to the platform. If I missed the updraft I could not deploy the glider wings at all and just fell to my death (which seemed to take a longer than necessary time). So not sure if it was a bug or not.
Do i delete this character or do I use the same character for round 2 of the stress test?
I thought the whole point of being capable of soloing a dungeon was so that you could sell the paths to those who are a) unskilled or b) don’t like dungeons.
So I hope they stay the same.
but those characters stay with us so whats the difference if you got them from ls or expansion?
Since I’m going on the assumption that living story will play a very minor role in the future, I don’t see any reason for Anet to continue to use DE 2.0 they could just make up a few new characters with each new living story adaptation just to get us from one expansion pack to the next.
I don’t think it will matter much anymore. It appears to me like Anet wanted to go living story to update their world and not go the expansion pack route. I’m assuming that didn’t go as well as planned since Colin mentioned in an interview that they would use the LS in between expansion packs. I could be wrong of course, but it sounds to me that the LS will play a very minor role in the future.
Our skills, as a individual character, is a joke compared to the eternal dragons. It makes a Lot more sense , logically, that we would use a super weapon to kill them.
I agree, the personal story is done individually (yes you can choose to add more) but it can’t be you (and a few NPCs) against a dragon and be some kind of “epic” fight without some type of super weapon manned by you or an NPC.
The people that are actually away from their keyboard before the start of an event aren’t actively participating and will not receive any credit/reward. These people are not scaling the event since they are not participating and will, if gone long enough, be kicked out of the game. So, IMO no “reporting someone is AFK” is warranted.
I’ve been in camp resolve many a time at the vendors and will receive the “bronze” reward on my UI screen for that collector event. Because I have not actually participated in the event I receive no karma, nor any monetary rewards. I assume that other non-participating players are “rewarded” the same way when they are in an event area.
If people actively participate in the event (regardless of how long they were active during that event) then they will get a reward (Gold, Silver, Bronze) for the amount of their participation. Again, IMO, I don’t feel that any further reporting is warranted.
I don’t consider it a cheap tactic at all. Clearly (just looking around DR) a number of people have purchased them. Anet said it’s a “sneak peek” one item per day for the rest of the week. So what you don’t get this week will be available in the Gem store again and I’m sure for a longer period of time once it’s officially released.
no more than 100 gold. The most I’ve spent is on some pieces of cultural armor.
It took me a few months to get WvW map completion on all 8 of my characters. I tried to go with zergs. If zergs weren’t going my way or weren’t in the area, then I’d wait until the area needed was my color at reset and I’d try my best to get what I needed as quickly as possible. If I saw a player enemy, then I avoided the area or waited for them to move on. If a player came upon me, then I raced my little heart out to reach the area I needed, L Sometimes I made it, but usually I didn’t. So I died a LOT! But eventually I got what I needed.
I was watching the Revenant twitch stream and it reminded me of what almost all of GW2’s new areas have been like: endless warzones with explosions everywhere, hordes of enemies coming from all directions and the constant push for “epic” meta events. Yet my favorite places of GW2 are all areas with little action: Queensdale, pre-toxic Kessex Hills, Snowden Drifts, Wayfarer Foothills, etc.
It’s a bit of a contradiction between what I liked about GW2 initially and what it has become. I liked exploration, finding random pieces of lore and doing events that told little, self-contained stories. I also liked fighting a wide variety of enemies with interesting motivations, or at least somewhat interesting.
The big problem are Mordrem themselves: they’re beyond boring lore wise. They look nicer than the undead, but are still a bunch of evil things that want to kill you. They don’t talk, they don’t have conflicting thoughts, they just whack stuff until it stops whacking them back. This forces the Pact into being a bunch of generic good guys, because when things try to kill you you can only kill them back, with little in-between. I suppose now we’ve got corrupted Sylvari to kill as well, but brainwashed puppets don’t make for particularly interesting antagonists, either.
I also miss being able to travel from point A to B without getting pulled, blinded and knocked down a few times.
Agree.
If I’m trying JP’s on my own (I suck so I am usually there a good hour) I always say thank you when I see a portal pop up in front of me to use., but I never considered tipping anyone for it. I just figured they were giving me a helping hand.
I’d be fine with auto-WP as long as it was free. As another poster mentioned, the issue is that, at this point, it costs coin to WP. I guarantee that’s why 90% of dead players just lay there.
I strongly disagree that this is the reason why most of those players don’t waypoint. I think it’s more that they just don’t want to take the time to run back. It’s also partially the fact that they’re trained by the game to think they’re going to miss out on their loot if the event ends before they’ve run back and gotten back in the fight. And then there’s that population of the game who still believes that waypointing risks you getting placed on another instance.
It’s also possible that players feel that because PvE is considered cooperative play, and all players have the ability to rez even during combat, that the game is encouraging the wait for resurrection instead of the costlier waypoint/run back scenario.
This game is all about “skins” and customizing what you want your character to wear and wield. I can’t believe they’ve waited this long to introduce more.
But in answer to the OP’s question:
There should be legendaries that not only reflect each race but should also appeal to a variety of “moods” ie dark and grim, serious or more realistic looking as well as the ridiculous and over the top.
Just play to have fun, as it really doesn’t matter how skilled you are. There are always going to be people that play more efficiently than others, but as long as you participate and do your best, then don’t worry about others opinions of your abilities. Those that you enjoy playing with, add them to your friends list or as others have suggested join a friendly guild.
Congratulations :-)
Played roughly 2800 hrs since launch….
0 precursors to show for it.
I only play with the mystic forge when it’s a daily achievement. So the chances of getting one there are slim and none.
I’m disappointed that I haven’t received one yet, but not too upset about it since it’s all really based on RNG (or grinding out the gold in dungeons to buy off TP)
I fear the precursor collections that are coming up in HoT will be extremely difficult…ie 1000 hours of grinding out this, that and the other of very difficult, coordinated combat for a single precursor. Then you still need to spend another 1000 hours and 1000 gold for mats and gated content to craft the darn thing into a legendary.
Thankfully I’m rather content with the skins my characters are currently running around with, so not sure if I’ll even be motivated enough to try for the collections.
No thanks, not interested in raids.
Just out of curiosity, why do you want capes? Are you referring to guild capes, thus would have your guild tag emblazoned on it? You don’t really need capes to identify your guild tag appears next to each guildies name.
Or are you just referring to a cape as a backpiece? If so, do you want to be able to input your own design or just a generic cape?
I vaguely remember in GW1 guilds could choose a symbol that represented their guild.
it is just way too early for this. :-)
to have fun with family, friends and guildies. I agree with Test that it’s becoming a bit more difficult. Quite a few of us were extremely frustrated trying to obtain carapace gear boxes. Then having to complete the more difficult story achievements to obtain the Luminescent gear. Quite a few just gave up.
If you play the game regularly (ie at least log in once every two weeks) then you do not have to pay for living story content.
If you play the game for short periods of time every 3-4 months, then you will need to pay for the living story content.
Do I agree with this philosophy? No, since the game IS buy to play. However, IF you were regularly playing (or at least keeping up with game information) then you would have had fair warning that this was occurring, and should have either a) decided to just uninstall and never play the game again, or b) find a way to workaround the issue.
I only have enough tomes and such to reach around level 50 and plan to use them.
Since they didn’t even state it would be released in 2015, that tells me they probably hope it will be ready in Q3, Q4 of this year, with the possibility of it going into 2016 if some things go wrong.
Sylvari .
The worst part is seeing someone type, “That’s my 8th coat box” while you’re still waiting for the 1st one(not including the automatic one). I have yet to see a coat box drop for me after at least ten tries/successes on the vine event. At least with the kidney agony I get a part drop no matter what, even if it isn’t what I’m looking for. Not saying I want 10 glove boxes – had too many of those from the nightmare chest.
I love the vine event – just hate the way the coat boxes don’t drop more evenly to players who actually need them. A guild friend of mine says that after he got 2 on his first go(auto one included) and got the last one he needed shortly thereafter, he’s gotten even more, more frequently. Please, ANeT, let the drop happen for those who need it before giving out more to those who don’t need and mostly don’t want it.
I enjoy the vine event as well, but agree, RNG is extremely frustrating. It took me a 3 day weekend of grinding that event to get two coat boxes (had gotten my automatic drop one earlier in the week). Strange thing was, on what was to be my very last run of that weekend netted me my last coat box PLUS 2 glove boxes from the nightmare chest. (had one set of gloves from story).
My husband on the other hand was getting drops of gloves, boot or coat on a more consistent basis.
Just want to say I appreciate all the tips.
Frankly who cares? I certainly dont. Farming the crests is kitten-easy. Two nights of farming maps from foothold to vinewrath (couple hours each), and I’ve got 2k crests, even after spending close to 500 on keys and shovels. Imagine if someone decided to spend the entire day farming? You dont need to be able to trade in the boxes when it’s easy to get them. And to be honest, the only people who’d want that ability is if they cant play long enough to get other pieces, and can only spend 20-30 minutes chest hunting.
So, because you have the time to farm for a couple of hours each night, you think it’s easy. I think there are a lot of people around that have a full job, a family life and not so much free time to farm. For those people it would most certainly be helpful if they could exchange the boxes.
I personally wouldn’t care if I could exchange them for crests or even another type of box. Let’s say I have 3 glove boxes, and need a boot box and a legging box, why shouldn’t I be able to exchange 2 of those glove boxes for a boot and a legging box?
I took the whole weekend to farm the vinewrath and finally on the final nights run got my much needed coat. I still don’t have enough crests to buy everything I need (not to mention anything close to luminescence), so obviouly farming is not as “easy” for some people as others, so I agree if you have an “extra box”, I don’t think it’s too much trouble to be able to trade it for a box that you want.
Teq is “easy” as long as there is a coordinated group actively participating, otherwise known as: “a good tequatl server”. If you are not able to get on an active server in time, then you will not be able to beat tequatl.
New players would probably feel that Maw, Jungle Wurm, Shadow Behemoth and Fire Elemental were “epic” if there weren’t 100+ geared up level 80’s camped there to kill them.
I’d be just as happy if they didn’t announce an expansion. As a casual player since launch, there are still many things I have yet to complete. My gaming time has been diminished even further due to real life. So although I wouldn’t mind no expac, I understand that many others have run out of things to do and are tired of grinding the same old thing. So if Anet needs an expac to retain players, I certainly understand and will adapt.
No way i will be trusting walking vegetables with my life…especially now that they are officially buddies with Mordie.
So i will be starting to kick all Sylvari from my parties, just to be safe. If you are an agent of Mordie, touche!
But if you happen to be an untouched one, sorry too bad, life in Tyria is not fair, get used to it.So if you randomly get kicked from a party with no warning and you are Sylvari…that was probably me.
Thanks for the warning, now I know if I get kicked it’s not personal. :-)
4038 hours, got a pre in the forge. Dawn, even though I dont use greatswords really.
Congratulations! Hopefully you’ll get the one you can use soon.
My wait continues…. :-)
The only characters I created without care were the key runners and some for story specific armors, since they held no other purpose they got deleted immediately.
There is no way I could delete any of my other characters that I have been playing for 2+ years. I’d rather spend the money on another slot.
If a new class were to be added down the road, and lets say, no new races were added, what race would you choose to play the new class with?
For me, after my experience with the races so far, Asura is my last choice, and male Norn sits at top next to Human as my main choice. leaning a bit towards Norn.
Whats yours?
hhmmm, that’s a tough question. I’ve got humans done (one of each armor weight) and the norns closely look like humans so I can rule them out too.
It really depends on the weight class.
Since the new class would more than likely be heavy, then I would go with Sylvari since I already have two in the other weight classes.
If the new class is light, then I’d select Charr
If the new class is medium then I’d select Asura.
I am just glad I don’t experience “rage” over the lack of a precursor like some people in the game do. Do I feel disappointed sometimes? Definitely, but to be honest, I’m happy with the weapon skins my characters are currently running around in. With that said, IF, I receive a precursor as a drop, then I will be just as happy to create the legendary skin that goes with it (regardless of how I like/dislike the skin). shrug It’s a game, I treat it as such.
A picture says more than a thousand words or angry forum posts.
oh my, that is so sad!
