[Suggestion] Should lying dead be more punishing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lynne.8416

Once the event is over I have no problem raising the dead. As the living player I have no idea how long that player has been dead. he may have died within the last 10 seconds of the event.. One of the negative impacts of the new “megaserver” you are not guaranteed to come back on your server when you use a way point. The dead player may not make it back to the same server to get his “loot” laying on the ground unless someone revives him. Besides I’m sure players are not “trying” to die. Some players have lag issues, and sometimes particle effects get in the way of monster tells. I’m sure each player is doing their best to stay alive. so they don’t have to waste money waypointing or depend on other players to rez them.

Agree with Astral, the player is not breaking any rules. That player prefers to grief, there are loads of players that do. Nothing you can really do about it except wait for them to leave or learn to beat them at their game. ie have a large group or zerg escort dolyaks and drain the supplies yourself.

How much gold do you make?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lynne.8416

Everyday, I hear people saying, “I make so-and-so amount of gold a day, and it’s easy!” People say they make 50g a day, and simply put, I don’t know how they do it. I play the TP, do a few dungeons, participate in some WvW, and I usually end up with around 10-15g.

So my question is, how much gold do you make in a day, and how do you make it?

I’m lucky if I make 1 gold a day. hee hee. I don’t champ farm, play the TP nor do dungeon runs. I just do dailies and work on my map completion. I don’t mind being poor. I’m fine in my exotics and have no desire for a legendary, which is probably a good thing since I’ve never received a precursor drop. I enjoy just fooling around in PvE.

@ Azhure “I understand that not everyone wants a challenge. However there is no real form of difficulty in the majority of GW2. Which results in laziness and inattentiveness.”

Just because not everyone is “skilled” enough to play to your satisfaction, that
doesn’t mean that they are all lazy or inattentive. They may be playing the game for a different purpose than you. ie families or couples or friends that play together just to do something together.

@Protoavis " few people want to spend 40 minutes doing a run that can be done in 9 minutes."
I agree with this IF groups are doing the speed run grind.

But dungeons CAN be completed with any gear group of people. There are those that are grinding it out and only want to play with certain gear/experience, that’s fine and dandy. Which is why LFG tool is so important.

There are also those that enjoy playing the dungeons with a group of people to have fun and therefore, it does not matter what they are gearing up with.
The fun (or challenge) is getting through the dungeon regardless of the gear and experience players have, doesn’t matter if it takes you 10 minutes or 40 minutes. The whole point of the “no trinity required” equals no one NEEDING a particular profession to get through it.

Hi gw2 community , this is not a rage post or something that talks kitten about this great game.

My problem is that now i dont know what to do, i have tried everything that this game offers ,
- on pvp i got bored because is full of Bunker Engies and annoying mesmers ,
-on WvW i dont find the fun of that , is just running arround taking this tower , kill this zerg take this camp etc…,
-on PvE well i have 3 80 and im tired of leveling another one again , just the same world to explore to get lvl 80 and all paths of dungeons are done ,
- to get a legendary? god no please with all the precursor rage i dont want to care about that
- Just completed the current LS

So please help me , make me want to play this game again if not , reccomend me another games like this one because i have too much free time and its raining like hell :/

Since this is a non subscription game. Feel free to go play something else until the next LS starts. Do you belong to a guild? If not, find an active one and gain a new perspective on your “bored” content. There are quite a few that do a variety of content.
I have created all 8 professions which makes it tough for me to get bored with a character. Also playing with different people brings a new experience to the same old content.

GW2 Female Armour [Poll]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lynne.8416

I think wearing skimpy armor in combat is a serious logic fail. “I’m fighting for my life, so I’ll take all my armor off!” I mean come on, when the other guys are shooting arrows and swinging swords you’ll want to be as covered as possible. Just my thought process.

I guess it depends on how you are role playing your character. Do you work in a particular castle/keep and not travel, then yes big thick armor is for you (think Seraph). If you consider your character a nomad traveling hundreds of miles over different terrain, then you are going to wear different armor (coats and pants). If you are trying to blend in with town folk, then again you will be dressed as they are.
If you like to think your “light” armor characters have magical unseen armors then you can wear whatever you like. shrug it’s up to the individuals.

GW2 Female Armour [Poll]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lynne.8416

As I’ve said in other similar threads, I would actually prefer options of armor we already have ie Long/Short or No Coat, Long Pants or Shorts, Long Skirt or Short Skirt, Long/Shot/No sleeves, Long/Short gloves etc.
Depending on my character and what I want to show off….For Charr, I want to show off my fur! For Norn, I want to show off the tattoos I selected.
I don’t mind more armors of course, but player taste runs the gamut, so there really isn’t ever “enough” armors in the game.

Taxi to "good" server

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

Coordinated game play requires some form of leadership. And of course there are way more followers than leaders.
For the Crown Pavilion Boss blitz you need 6 leaders to get the “Gold & Silver rewards” a zerg can complete for Bronze.
I have yet to be in there with more than 2 (even during prime time) commanders. I have seen in map chat people say “we need 6 commanders” (and usually there is only 0 or 1 on the map)!!! So once the bosses come up everyone will follow as a zerg because even though people are spamming chat with “we need 6 groups” no one is stepping up and saying I’ll lead a group here. Someone else start grouping up over there"
Also there are trolls who also spam no need for groups.. we want to zerg zerg zerg.
So, anyone that is new to the festival is bound to be confused and just follow the group.
Also, there are those players that see it going to be a zerg and only go kill one boss and then afk in the middle until the end reward. So even experienced players end up not helping the situation.

So it’s understandable that those who have the opportunity to “taxi” to a better more coordinated server, will do so.

Item Prestige: Not being respected?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

I did’nt expect such polarized answers to come out of this,

For the people against any form of limited items/prestige items, what motivates you to play the game?

I will say I did’nt mean for it to come across as a “I have this you don’t nah nah nah nah” It was more along the lines of “this guy has every LS item and a bunch of cool rare items I can respect that he clearly put a fair amount of work and effort and played in an efficient manner.”

That said In my opinion an MMO is all about being a special snowflake and trying to out special all the other players I mean thats the competition? the whole basis of trying to get items? the “victory condition”.

As Rouven said it was sold as a feature the once off LS events and items. I have nothing against china getting a chance at the items and wasn’t talking about them at all I’m focusing on the EU/NA aspect.

I play the game because I find it entertaining. AND as an MMO it means there is a great possibility that a large number of people interested in the same game as I will be playing (and I don’t even have to leave the comforts of home L). I don’t play the game for “prestige”. I just play it to have mindless fun with other people. I don’t “need” a legendary to enjoy the game. I don’t play the game for the competition of trying to be the best “special snowflake” in the game.

I understand though that there are people that like/want prestige items and those that want to be competitive. Nothing wrong with that. People play this game for various reasons. It’s a big game that has many different parts. PvP, WvW, Open world PvE, and Dungeons. No one is “playing the game wrong”. If someone wants to follow a zerg in PvE and spam 11111, fine and dandy, if someone wants to play in small coordinated skilled groups, fine and dandy too. There’s plenty of room for both and whatever lies in between.

How does it not work? I think it amazing.

Just don’t be lazy and command better.
It’s a step in the right direction compared to last years follow the Dorito and zerg type of thing.
I love the Pavilion this time around.
Just stop expecting to get everything handed to you without working for it.

Unfortunately some of us haven’t yet had the experience in the pavilion with commanders (and communication) on the map because we don’t play during “prime time” hours. Hopefully, on the weekend people will still be interested in killing bosses. :-)

Q: What do you do in PvE?

I spend 99.9% of my time in PvE. I find it quite fun. I have several alts and they need map completion and story completion. There’s Dailies/monthlies to do, Champ trains, Orr Temples, Trait unlocks, a whole bunch of achievements, material farming, dynamic events etc Then there’s WvW & Dungeons. fun, fun, fun

Nerfing the train is not the solution.
People are going to be rude when they want to be rude. Even on launch day I encountered rude people here and there. Do I like it? Of course not, but if someone is rude, I just ignore them. if they are whispering you then report them.
If your concern is the new people, they won’t be staying in Queensdale long because they’ll map complete that area and move on to the next area to see and do new things.

THIS IS LVL 13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????

If you only do the map completion by running from heart to heart, then yes it is possible not to level appropriately. IF you kill things on your way to the next heart, POI, vista whatever and also do most of the events that you come across then you should be at the max level for that area by the time you complete the area.

Today I was doing my daily in wayfarer foothills with my full berserker gear and ascended GS. I saw two svanir thugs guarding a blockage. One whirlwind attack was enough to kill them both and shatter the blockade!

I like being strong and all, but…come on! Wasn’t one of the promises of GW2 that you would be scaled down in low lvl areas to make content challenging? And I thought a while back they increased the difficulty a bit more. But I don’t see it…

Does anyone else remember “Hard Mode” in GW1 when even low areas became fresh again? Where each hard mode zone was as tough as the other? There is zero reason for me to be careful, to make sure I don’t over aggro…

Come on Anet. Make your stuff challenging!

No, Anet does NOT need to make these areas “more challenging”. It’s a “low level” area for a reason. YOU as the player have the capability of making it challenging by removing your traits, and replacing your level 80 gear with area level gear. If you want level 80 challenges, then go to level 80 areas.

I understand the concern, however, I’m not sure you will actually see much of a change. If you are currently playing with certain people, you will still see those people on the map.

“The megaserver system is a weighted load balancer for players. It aggregates data about you, like your party, guild, language, home world, and the map copy where people you like to play with can be found. Using this data, it ranks all possible versions of a given map by attributing a score to each. You’re placed in the map with the highest score, which is the one with which you have the most affinity.”

Ok I guess I may have over did it on the current skins being so skimpy I would say it but I still want to see more Robe type of armor for casters I missed those even with some areas were the female skin shows heh I don’t mind that.

I don’t have a problem with “skimpy” outfits as that is a personal preference for each player. I agree robes would be nice touch. I hope they continue to add armors fairly frequently. Although, I do wish they had more “options” with the armors themselves. ie the option to choose long sleeve, short sleeve or no sleeve. Short or long coats/robes. Short, knee length or long pants/skirts. Thigh high, calf or ankle boots.

If they don’t want to offer it in the gem store any longer, than add it as a rare drop, or have that character NPC (or a Living story related character) be able to sell it in game.
This would also be a way for those that missed out on that particular LS could get some dialogue/synopsis on what happened during that event.

As a casual player, I just play with exotics. Unless you PvP you really don’t need anything higher than that in this game. But, yes, I agree, aesthetic skins are extremely expensive for those of us that don’t “gold farm”. As people said above, if you like dungeons (I don’t) you can grind out some decent gold. Otherwise you’re just going to have to wait a few years for those prices to go down or you earn enough gold to purchase them.

Slowly.... slipping toward the holy trinity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

Anet started the game hoping they could erase the need (and want) for the holy trinity, but I think they’re realizing that it doesn’t really work.
Honestly, I think a LOT of players would be happy if the trinity got reinstated somehow, or slowly implemented. I do think though, that WVW and PVP would not benefit from that change. I think they’re fine how they are. Anyway, the trinity only really works for PVE. I doubt Anet will ever admit their shortcomings though, I don’t think I’ve seen any developer ever admit they were wrong with something major like that.

Oh My. I hope they never add the holy trinity to this game. The number 1 reason why I play this game is because there is no holy trinity. I can play with others and it doesn’t matter (mostly) what build/gear I bring to the party. I play how I want to play, not because some party member wants me to play their way.

But then I’m also one that suggests that anet allow us to select sleeve/glove/legging/skirt length options of each set.
There are so many people with differing style opinions that I think providing different lengths would be nice. Some people like long skirts, some people would like to wear shorts, some would like long gloves and some would prefer sleeveless while others prefer full coverage. Why can’t we have it all? :-)

How would you get anywhere without the waypoints? The only part of the game that would be played were areas directly outside of LA. ie quick to get to.

MAYBE….If you had access to bank vault, crafting stations , trading post, vendors & dungeons without having to travel to a specific spot it would be acceptable NOT to have waypoints.

Why do people stop playing GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lynne.8416

Lynne.8416

I can understand why some people leave. I have always been one to play casually, but lately I log on less frequently. My husband who played roughly 10 hours a day for a year, now only logs on once or twice a week.
The new two week living stories, the lack of active guildies and the queue times to get into WvW have pretty much killed the game for us.
If it was just the lack of active guildies…well we could eventually overcome that, but the other two are pretty much deal breakers.
When you add in other minor issues that we have with the game, it’s just too much to overcome.

I thought the personal story was okay, when it was about MY character, after that it was all about traehearns personal story, and I didn’t care for it much after that. I also don’t like the fact that you have to group up and do a dungeon to “finish” the story.

  1. I feel we should have been able to level our character 1-80 via the PS only.
  2. It seemed like there were two totally different teams working on the PS since first it’s about our character, then it’s suddenly all about traehearn.
  3. It’s a “personal” story and therefore should not have ended with a 5 man dungeon group.

The most unfortunate thing about it is….it’s not something they can fix.

Although, I was surprised at first that GW2 was SO different from its predecessor, it took me a little while to adapt.

In regards to the manifesto, this was to be expected. I’m sure they wanted to do all the things in the manifesto, but were unable to do because of the players or systems, or they just felt it wouldn’t work. shrug who knows?

I don’t agree. Arena net is trying to please different segments of people.
The players that have cash but little time (gem shop…kaching)
The players that have little cash but LOTs of time (keeps player populations up)
Dungeon players (twilight arbor)
large group players (tequatl rising / Guild missions & puzzles)
PvP (esport tournaments)

Now I’m not saying they are all successful, but these are things that I have seen recently. So Arena net is trying to appease different player bases. Not everyone runs dungeons, not everyone PvE’s, not everyone PvP’s and not everyone WvW’s. some dabble here and there a few do them all, but most people primarily do one thing. So Arena net is trying to do a little player pleasing here and there to keep a large number of players….playing the game.
