So 33k/36k AP show a lot more dedication that easy as hell 18k. You dont have to do any of the more demanding achievements to reach 18k if you started playing regulary at release.
The game will last many years, Anet added an achievement for having a 10 year old character.
It would reduce the prestige of having a complete set, but it wouldn’t reduce the prestige of having access to both. 18k is still a huge accomplishment for AP in this game.
And the funny part to this is that no one even has that “full set” prestige right now. It’s not like there are people at this moment who are suddenly going to look less prestigious because of a change like this. The only loss of prestige would be a perceived future one…
I mean, no one is even close.

I would be higher up if I wouldnt have played TESO for a month and 2 month of Wildstar where I missed monthlies and such.

Do you know what will replace them? I doubt anet will leave us nothing to buy for single tickets. Maybe bring a old set back for 1 ticket?
Maybe just dont aim to get these sets if they are too much work for you. They are obviously only meant for very dedicated players, just like the glourious hero armor set from PvP, which you can only gain 1-3 pieces if you rank top 3 in an official tournament. 5 years from now that will be even rarer than 36k AP armor sets.
The titles you get from the 5k AP steps are simply horrible. 2 years after release the heritage titles from GW1 are still the best GW2 has to offer. Hardly anyone uses these AP titles.
I really feel like the people saying no to this are not getting the fact that with the OP’s proposed changes, it will still take just as long to get both full sets… it just puts the focus on getting one set complete and then working on the 2nd set, instead of getting incomplete pieces from both sets before you can get a single set complete.

Ok I will set it to ‘Ambient Occlusion setting’ to “off” and let you know the results later
Its turned off both in global and GW2 profile. It has clearly something to do with 340.52 and higher since downgrading to 337.48 solves the problems and as soon as I upgrade again they are back.

Yes, its definately disabled. Considering the problem exists only with the 340.52 and newer drivers, it might be something else :/

And how would that work?
Conditional switches. “IF” statements. “IF” zojjas_claymore or wupwups_claymore or… (etc through whole stack), “THEN” accounts for “Ascended Two-Handed Sword” part of achievement.
It’s not hard at all. :P
Because that already worked for the ascended rings which can be infused or not :p

That “error” looks like Nvidia’s ambient occlusion postprocessing hack.
Try turning it off in the Nvidia control panel’s 3d settings?
It doesnt appear to be ambient occlusion. I checked the settings and its set to “disabled”

Pool them like the zodiac skins.
Where you get to pick your part out of the sets.

It is a long-term reward. What the OP is proposing wouldn’t even change that.
It would change it. There are plenty of people with 18k achievement points already. Its not even enough to get into the top 1000 in EU. Let alone 2 years from now.
36k is just not viable for the large majority of the players, if you want your prestige for all the AP you got, try and unlock both sets/use your exclusive title.
I don’t think it’s viable for a single player. As far as I know, from looking at the achieve leaderboards, the highest anyone has is around 25-26k.
Its a long term reward. I dont expect anyone to reach 36k before 2016
Why do people always expect to be able to get everything as soon as it is in the game files? Some things are just for future proofing and long term achievements.

I am at 24.7k AP currently, so I will get there one day if Anet keeps adding new content to the game.

One reason why those timegates were implemented was to let the gap between hardcore players and casuals not to get too big.
Anet should worry more about the gap between trading post moguls and people who play the game to not become too big. Oh wait, that happened in week 1 of the game already.
Playing the tp is playing the game.
Not really. Its playing with spreadsheets and allows for unlimited earnings per day. Everything you can normally do in the game is capped by daily rewards and diminishing returns. With TP I can make 800g a day if I want to.
I would also like it for the exotic trinkets you need for the treasure collector achievement. The chance for them is way too low to get them reliable even if you do the event 100 days in a row you might not get it.
While they are at it, they should add a token system for the world boss events. Its completly silly when you did Tequatl 100+ times and never had one of those ascended weapons or even the mini tequatl out of it.

Collecting all the ascended craftable weapons would be a gigantic task. 133 weapons in total. 665 of each dragonite bar, empyreal star, bloodstone brick, dark matter required. Not to mention all the laurels and karma for the recipes.
I wont suggest such a collection, because Anet would fail to find a proper reward for such a mega task.
Added more sets (how do I keep forgetting about some?)
- Fractal track – various materials, fractal relics, and skin choice on complete
- SAB track – (reactivate the bauble merchant) rewards baubles, miniature crafting items, weapon crafting items/pieces (these things are WAY too expensive on the TP, there needs to be a way to get these weapon skins)
Getting fractal skins takes a lot of hard work and is gated behind a lot of RNG. If there would be a track for them it would make fractals obsolete. They are the sole reason a lot of people (myself included) still run high lvl fractals daily.
SAB skins are worth a lot, a track would ruin their value.
If these 2 tracks would happen, they would have to be 25x longer than normal tracks and require fractals lvl 50 to unlock / SAB world 2 on tribulation cleared to unlock. Personally I think there should be PvE and PvP exclusive stuff. Not everything should be achieveable in both modes.
I want to suggest the following track:
Glorious Hero’s Armor track, needs Legendary Champion title to unlock, 200,000 points (10 rang levels) to complete each time.
Because the large tournaments for this game are just plain silly. This game will never be esports.
I have some annoying graphic bugs when using the Nvidia 340.52 or 344.11 graphic drivers. They start randomly and most often after after minimizing and maximizing the game. I can fix it by changing the resolution to something else and back to my normal one or by downgrading the driver back to 337.88. Please find a fix for this since I want to use the most recent drivers to have the maximum performance in all games.

I am using a Nvidia Geforce GTX 580. All graphic settings are at maximum including supersampling. Resolution I am playing at is 2400×1500.
The best solution would be simply to let everyone profitate from ANets mistake, because for me this is clearly a bug personally, but however, the Devs may see it naturally differently and thats what I’m still waiting for to hear he to get a clarification, how they think the design should have worked out, and what their plans are with those screwed up achievements in the near future.
The thing is Anet did no mistake. You are mistaken on this topic not Anet.
The old achievements were for putting them into the bank which is no longer possible. So they made new ones.
They can make them tradeable (expect them to be worth 100s of gold each) or bring the RNG boxes back. Both is fine with me.
Not being a permanent reward is what makes them special. Miniatures are prestige objects.
If ANet would have really retired them, they would also be listed under the retired Achievements and every player would have gotten their AP from them substracted from their total amount of Ap, just like ANet handle the retried Hint Achievement, which removed 10 AP from al of us, because before ANet retired that achievement, it gave us 10 AP for getting all of the game hints
it didnt remove any AP, it still gives 10 AP if you completed it. (no different than old living story achievements) Anet never deletes peoples APs except in the case where they added caps for infinite achievements like the salvage one.
The old achievements are discontinued. Only the new achievements progress when making minis account bound.
They should only come back if people have to go through the same RNG boxes to get them. I spent a lot of gems on them to get my minis. I would be very disappointed to see them for a fixed price in the gemshop.
If you completed them befor the feature patch you keep those achievements, but have the opportunity to gain another 120 AP by making the 3 collections account bound.
They are completly different, the old ones allowed you to get them from a friend for a minute, the new one requires you to own the miniatures yourself to make them account bound.
Its working as intended for sure since they removed the bank spaces for them. And this is totally what I expected when they said they would remove them.
Are you sure its ingame? The screenshot I saw looked faked. I got 7/19 fractal weapon skins and they dont seem to do anything.

The price of eternity is lower because many people are unhappy with their Sunrise or Twilight and make it to Eternity. They make some cash back and got 2 legendary skins in return.

I imagine they will be adding more collections over time.
I really hope so, though nothing has been said about this at all.
I even bought all of the Pirate karma weapons because I was sure they’d be in a collection, but not so far.
I dont think they need to say anything about it, when so many are missing.
They should let us demote gossamer to silk. I always sigh if I get gossamer instead of silk.
I just deleted mine, it feelt like a wasted inventory slot.

I dont think it would be much work to make a reward track for them in PvP. But we already have achievements for retired items. Sclerite and Wintersday 2012 weapons are only available via trading post nowadays. Not even for 7 tickets at the trader.
I was disappointed, that the feature patch missed a lot of possible item collection.
A few things that come to my mind:
- Cultural weapon sets (Norn, Charr, Asura, Sylvari, Human, Lionarch, Ebonhawk)
- Fractal weapon set
- Primordus weapon set
- Pearl weapon set
- Cultural armor sets collection (I know there is the emperor achievement track, but it doesnt require complete sets)
- Karma armor sets such as the Armageddon set
- Other sets such as the tribal armor set you used to get from PvP
- Dream weapon set from aeterpath in twilight arbor
- Sovereign weapon set
- Random exotics which could make a set with some phantasy
- Tequatl weapons
- Dredge crafted weapon set
- Bandit crafted weapon set
- region based sets (eg Orr, Ceremonial, Legionaire, etched…)
- WvW tournament weapon seet
- Mist weapon set (Anomaly, Vision of the Mist,…)
- Order sets (Vigil, Order of Whispers, Durmand Priory)
- Pact weapon set
- SAB weapons (with next rerelease of it)
- Mystic weapon collection
- Dye collection (collect all 382 (?) standard dyes)
- Ascended ring collection
- Exotic trinket collections (there is no collection for items like Vallog’s Demise yet)
In this is probably only a small part of the items which are currently not part of a collection achievement. Please add them, the current selection of achievements feel to small. The rewards do not have to be anything special, I am happy with some achievement points.

Siege trolling hardly seems like a problem. I have yet to see it having an impact on the matchup end results.
I hope they bring back old collections back for 1 ticket over time. Its not fair to add achievements for retired sets (Wintersday 2012, Sclerite) or out of season sets.
I like it, gives me more time to get 19 tickets to get the collection myself.

Please bring back the retired Black Lion Ticket weapon sets back.
Also please make special weeks were you can get out of season BLT weapon sets for 1 ticket.
Its kind of unfair you made achievements for items you can only get from buying them at the trading post now.
Wintersday 2012 is also not available anymore.
I guess they will bring back retired black lion collections back over time. They would be stupid if they would skip that opportunity to make $$$
As soon as there are enough collections there will hopefully be a rotation on which set costs 1 ticket.
Just finished dragonjade set and it indeed gave 7 tickets. Invested them in 7 chaos weapons to improve my other collection
