Nobody gives a kitten about the points, the main problem in this match-up is that it is freakin’ boring.

Deso, no offense, bring very little to the table when most human beings from Europe play this game, while Underworld atleast try to do their absolute best with what they can muster up during primetime (often ticking higher than Deso actually).

Unfortunately UW don’t have enough numbers, when they did they were a very exciting server to fight against with aggressive guilds and organized pug groups.

Props for Deso doing great during late nights and early mornings, but the problem is that me nor 99% of AG did not play during this time so there’s not much we can say about how your players were then. I can only describe what I’ve seen and it is that Deso does not have enough organization going to make this game the kind of fun that it can be.

Personally I only care about my server being aggressive as far as forcing enemies to fight and that it has organized small and large scale action which anyone can join if they are willing to listen/join voice communication. What happens during times when I do not play is none of my business.

Desolation has, about 10 commanders with the experience, reputation and talent to do something. Those 10 commanders have to cover 4 borderlands, 24 hours a day, trying to control/manage about 60 or so pugs each. And only 1/8 pugs bother to come on teamspeak. Among those 1/8, 1/5 have their TS sound turned off.

Anyone got an idea why there is chaos?

It takes a lot of time to re-re-form a consistent WvW community, mate. People need to learn how to play WvW in an organized way and not just think they can Pvdoor all the time. I am confident that Deso players will catch up soon.

@Dyno you dont seem to understand that coverage wins a matchup… just look how the ppt was during primetime yesterday when we got people playing, you were bellow 200 points most of the time and we were 350-420 all the time.. you only won this matchup due to superior coverage in offpeak times, nothing else. Dont really see that you need to brag that much and blame that a PvE server is winning this matchup when almost all the servers in silver league is PvE heavy servers, just look both AG and UW both being very high populated servers aswell. Think we can easily say that we got a lot higher PvE base that dosn’t care about WvW compared to what you guys have.

As you and other people said, it’s a game, you are here to have fun. Most of us have fun playing with guildies and when we do, we kinda rock ur server to the ground when we have people online.

This is what Anet allows, so this is what servers/players do. Live with it. Instead of arguing on the same old things with zero results, I kindly suggest you try to enjoy the times your server “rocks our server” and stop complaining in forums.
We all know that in WvW “my server is better than yours nananananana” is just plain silly or complaining about nightcapping…like if your rocking server never nighcapped, having the chance? Oh please. Like EVERY server in the game: if you can nightcap you will.
There is Spvp to show your skills for real, or maybe GvG. WvW is a mixed breed with good things and bad things, we all know that. Play it if you enjoy it.

1.You will not believe, but the prime time of my guild is different from yours. UTC+8.
Do you think we should wait when you wake up?
2. You always hidden in the towers. The best way find you – cap everything and then wait for capping something for catch you.

So my gut feeling was correct, when I said to myself, they must definetly have guilds not from Europe – guess you’re from Australia, how much fun is it for you to play versus the doors all the time? Secondly, when your team of 20-30 people arrives late at night to our borderland, when there is 5 people all togather scouting the towers and keeps, do you really think, they will jump down and fight you?

Oh and btw…are you really proud for ticking the highest on saturday evening? The time where people usually go out and have a beer with their buddies or watch a movie? Dunno but I think you could’ve picked better examples than that…

By PRIMETIME I mean the time, that even Aurora Glade has que for entering any borderlands. And judging by the numbers of Desolation players, you had ques too. And guess what; some people drink beer with their buddies and play WvW on Saturday evening. Looks like for you the best time for playing/farmin points is Monday early morning, when people go to work, school, college … I would not be proud of the fact, your biggest opponent at that time are reinforced doors and veteran guards.

Who said he was proud, last I checked the initial reply was to somebody else who was saying we had 600+ tick. Now for those still saying we tanked, before leagues started I can assure you we weren’t a gold league server. However, after seeing the pve blobs we have now, I would say we definitely we are gold league server.

So instead of trying to make yourself sound tough of the forums or complain on the forums, do everybody a favour and kill these kitten pve scrubs clogging up my god kitten queue. Trust me, I hate them just as much as you, probably more. We’ve turned into a bloody vizunah kitten , and the only people proud of that are the pvers that have been in wvw for a total of 30 hours and don’t know what toughness is.

I still believe that we do not have a sufficient number of organized guilds to be competitive in the current Gold League, since that is what makes you competitive there (as well as full-24h-coverage, obviously). Do you think that PvE players will have the same enthusiasm/participation if we were rolled over by other servers (also in night time)? I do not think so.

If you mean that we could be in 7th-8th place in the Gold League now, then I agree.

Desolation, do you guys know anything else but late night/early morning capping? I see you enjoy player vs door tactic the most, which gives you most points, since we have like maybe 10 people online? Actually I wouldn’t be proud of that and would not post screenshots of how ‘great’ you are when there is nobody playing – especially on friggin’ monday morning …

Whether deso tanked or not isn’t really the question since it’s hugely obvious you did (I mean just look at the server score history on mos.millenium).
It’s more about whether they tanked for a good reason (so they don’t get blobbed every week in gold league) or just because they wanted to win.

I think a better question to ask is whether we intentionally tanked or not. It seems people only think a server can intentionally tank, but if that’s the case then how come nobody is calling out underworld for tanking and trying to drop to bronze league?

You are responsible of the skill lag. You’re blobbing like noobs, seriously, get squads of 20-25 players max and stop the server charge burning.
Fights against Mya are totally worthless, your numbers + the enormous amount of PUGs sticking you is ridiculous. Besides annoying everyone, it gives no results to your server as you can barely keep one objective on the map.

mate, probably you haven’t read previous posts where it was saying that Desolation is in a state of rebuilding the WvW community.
PUGs are as important as others in this phase and I think they should be welcomed.
In an ideal world you would be right and it would be possible to organize your beautiful 20-25 player parties fights with no lag.
Reality check: probably only the top 3-4 servers in the gold league could barely have that kind of organization.
I commend you to be a dreamer, though.

ranger in PvE as in dungeons can be very powerful and a great DPS dealer with some support. Sword/Whorn is the way to go.
I know people think it is suboptimal in dungeons, and I was one of those thinking the same.
I realize that the class, well played, can be a very good asset for e dungeon team.

Aren’t people tired of complaining of things that were discussed 1 million times in the previous months?! Season 1 is seven weeks long and for how WvW is structured there will be night capping, morning capping, double teaming, golem rushes, mesmers hiding, etc. this is what the game is. Stop being clueless forum warriors or at least stop the drama about the same old things. It is just ridiculous.
You do not like how Anet set the rules for WvW (allowing all the things trolls complain about)? You can:
1- Change game;
2- Avoid playing WvW;

match ups could be also balanced due to the fact that in some servers playing prime time with a full organized guild is almost impossible. Too many non-frequent-wvw-players (also non-80lvl), which is a good sign if they learn how to fight in a coordinate manner and help the server community.
On the other hand some servers are in fact deprived of good coordination hence resulting in the biggest blob wining the clash.

I tried with a friend (party of 2) and it did not let us get in the same instance to face the Prince. One would enter and the other would automatically get assigned to another instance of the same kind.

In my opinion, Anet should announce with more details the rewards for 1/2/3 place so that people can have an idea and maybe participate more enthusiastically in WvW (since anyway now almost everywhere is WXP fest/train attracting players) and not just get in there until they get the meta achievement.

can’t say i echo the ‘great fights’ sentiments above because the skill lag has really favored the side with greater numbers this week which has made roaming as a guild pretty frustrating. Hopefully when we meet again in week 7 there will be less skill lag to contend with!

However the massive battles that have happened in prime time were a nice throwback to the days when every server had a decent wvw population and it was fun doing some commanding of my own again.

Overall the scores are a pretty fair reflection of the match in general, close but Desolation just having enough in the locker to pull away.

I agree, mate, that lag was sometimes spoiling the fun. As you rightly said the match up was not determined from the first days and was kept always exciting. A close matchup with good servers is what I think everybody wants.

Yes, there were some episodes which triggered a bit of forum war, but I believe we can all agree that it was a good match up and a good challenge for all the three servers.
I hope this will also ignite some more love for WvW and not cause defections once the achievements are done…

Maybe it is me, but considering I am not from a T1 server I do not see the utility of such a map. If I wanna do proper WvW I go to one of the existing WvW maps, no queue.
Why would I go to a new map!?
Apart from the initial curiosity or maybe it will become another exploit map to farm WXP ranks?!

Its a “test server” that Anet isn’t calling a “test server” and many are lapping it up.

it will be a test server that uses people who want to wvw but can’t because of que to test things that will maybe pushed to the PPT maps and hopefully catch things like the lag bug from bloodlust before it effects the servers that don’t use the test map.

being one of the people in said “stacked server” I am looking forward to this map since it will be better then sitting in pve waiting for a PPT map to pop.

I understand, mate; however, this map will not be “proper” WvW (no contribution to the actual fight of your server)but just a limbus where to farm WXP. So yes, instead of waiting for 3 hours in PvE doing nothing you can still do some sort of WXP farming and some PvP, BUT it does not solve the issues of a better WvW many players are calling for.

I like the dungeon overall but the ooze segment needs to be fixed. Make the kitten oozes friendly and then I’ll gladly PUG this. As it stands I’ll only do it with organized groups.

I like tough/challenging content and I do not want anything that constitutes a challenge to be nerfed, personally. However I really do not like the mechanic in the part of the oozes. I think something better and more fun could have been done there. For me, it is not a challenge, it is plain annoying.

I would rather have less updates/new content in favour of a better job done with in-game bugs, glitches, etc.
I understand that part of the community is in fact very eager to ‘devour’ every new thing that comes out (achievements, new things to do, new skins, mini-games, etc.) and I understand that following Anet surveys the large majority of the community wanted to have more than an update a month; however, this rush to throw literally into the game new stuff is starting to be kinda annoying if not done properly, which means:
1- no bugs;
2- original content.

I suggest another survey to see if, in fact, the (PvE) community is happy about where this is going.

Outside of the paintrain this has got to be the most boring MU ever, ER and JS roamers don’t even exist…

I think this shows once more that the players’ number has decreased. I have noticed the decrease of roamers also in the previous weeks and on other servers.
Usually roamers are not-so-causal players, since to be a roamer it takes efforts and some sort of commitment (if you are a regular).
OR they just joined forces with the main zerg(s), even though you would think they had become roamers especially to avoid being part of a zerg :-)

I see already some posts on this thread have been removed by the devs, including mine. Fair enough; let’s not fuel more a conversation where the only ones in favour of the current state of wvw are, very likely, players that are new or pertain to t1 (aka the balanced servers).
A thread with only two posts on how good is Bloodlust, says it all.
With all respect to everybody’s opinion, I believe that the majority of dedicated WvW players has already taken a stance.

T1 – 1/3/4
T2 – 6/5/2
T3 – 7/12/11
T4 – 14/9/8
T5 – 10/15/17
T6 – 18/19/13

This view of the matches is part of the problem.

THERE ARE NO TIERS!

You still have SEA/EU guilds going to top 3 servers thinking they will find good fights consistently. Your GMs need to read up on the system. Once the league starts, the consistency of ranks 1-6 fighting each other week after week is done. You will have 1-2 good matches against other rank 1-3 servers, 1-2 partial blowouts against ranks 4-6 and then you will have 3-4 weeks of guaranteed PvDoor all though Oceanic, SEA and EU time.

Honestly, the chance of rank 1-3 facing each other more than twice is so minuscule, don’t kid yourself by transferring to “Tier 1” thinking your going to have 7 weeks of awesome WvW unless hitting +600 in 1 hour and gate camping the rest of the night is your idea of fun.

I would instead advice to transfer as much as possible to high tiers so that finally this thing can blow-up once and for all and maybe force Anet to re-think seriously the previous six months (!) of work in WvW.

just noticed that the league starting is going to line up perfectly with the release of bf4, devs do what you want, ruin wvw, I got a new cool friend next door that has a bunch of shiny new toys.

many players are just waiting for new alternatives to appear on the market and then will leave. This happens all the time, nothing new; however, it happens more often and quickly if after 13 months the main reason to play GW2 (i.e. WvW) is still “under construction”.

If you find WvW so incredibly unacceptable in its current state that you’re willing to quit en masse, then maybe GW2 just isn’t the game for you? Play the game for what it is right now, not for what you fantasize about it being in the future.

It was the game for them two days ago, and apparently it was the game for 99% of this forum two days ago. It was the game for a not insignificant portion of the WvW-playing playerbase two days ago, as well. If GW2 was never a game that they enjoyed, then maybe I’d agree with you, but that’s not the case.

I find it amusing that the game is suddenly shattered for so many over something as insignificant as a 0-150 point increase in stats. I simply can’t believe that people who honestly and legitimately enjoyed the game prior to the buff are unable to logically enjoy it now. It seems far more likely that they’re simply being disingenuous, for effect.

I do not think it is a question of “previously enjoying”; it is more a question of “I cannot wait any longer for this game to be better”. Every patch I, as many other WvW players, do hope there will be something good which could add longevity to my game. So far, not much has given hope, I reckon.

It killed the determination in my server. For 8 hours we tried with teamspeak and the biggest guilds. Dragonbrand tried for 20 hours. We did everything. We protected the cannons, we removed his stacks, we buffed the zerg, still we only got to 60% on our best try. Don’t try and make it look like people are not thinking. It’s very insulting to those that know that we won’t ever do it now.

Try again, or give up. That’s how it should be, it’s hard content afterall. You server still got… a lot of other world bosses to take down.

Agreed. If you want just the wings, they are easily obtainable. If you want the title, well…work for it (which means: know tactics and do you part and hope, if you are not in a big guild, that most of the players know what to do as well). If you do not succeed you will just lose a title and a couple of achievements… I do not see all this cry out for a nerf here… probably people are too used to click the “win” button.

It’s sad now when any discussion with fellow WvWers always ends up with “can’t wait for XXX <new game>”

Pfft don’t you know a large chunk of gamers and mmo players go through games like a fat kid goes through cake these days? Its a fact. People in general go through video games much faster these days. MMOs take a bit longer. This doesn’t surprise me. There’s not many games out there were most of the initial population sticks with after a while.

Short attention span kids. I would not want to call them gamers.

it is true that a portion of ‘gamers’ jumps relentlessly to another <new game> as soon as the neighbor’s grass is greener; however, I think we are at a stage where committed/dedicated players are really gonna move to other fields (PvPers and WvWers are the ones who interest us in this threat, but the migration of PvErs will be even bigger), in my case I sadly saw/see in-game friends, IRL friends and big guilds simply abandoning the game every day.
The WvW Season is a nice concept, but I think it came too late and not followed by enough novelty and simple/important fixes (at least from a players’ prospective).

WvW is a sinking ship. We know it. The development team knows it.

Patching up the holes is hard when the ship is already out to sea. Thus all they’re capable of doing is just having the band play their violins for everyone who hasn’t abandoned ship. They’re grabbing buckets and bailing water when they should be changing their course to patch up the ship in the shallows.

To costly to justify development of something that was essentially never finished before launch.

By December this year WvW will be nearly dead. By February 2014 Arena Net will have a layoff. By Q4 2014 GW2 in its entirety will no longer be relevant to market competitors, as most servers will be ghost towns.

Feel free to quote me as these events occur.

I may add: don’t forget that the market will soon provide players with better structured games (especially for PvP: arena, various battlegrounds and 40vs40).
Time to catch up with them or lose your player base, Anet.

i must say i LOOOOOVE mystic forge! got my 5th precursor from it 2 days ago! and our guild had abt 8 precursors same day in abt 1hr 30mins from it!

Good for you! . I’ve been playing this game from the start.. and i got to my Level 80 END Game 1 month after it was released…
Started farming for a Legendary Pre courser and have been ever since

Put in about 1000g++ in the forge in every way conceivable over that time
Rares and exotics, named and unnamed, COF runs and 500+ L48+ Fractals ( no GS skin) VERY UNLUCY! RNG

I’ve had ZERO ( 0 ) precursors.. and still farming to get one.

I’m at the point of saving to buy from the TP
Wish it wasnt like that but its sooo RARE to get one that buying is now my only option.

Once you put in 1000g worth of stuff into the forge you SHOULD be allowed to have a pre curse no MATTER what!

This will NOT flood the market at all and give people who have slaved over this game like myself and have NOTHING to show for it some happiness

ANET needs to fix this.

I am also in the process of chasing a legendary, and have only one or two more T6 mats to go and then Dawn. It is going to be so difficult to get a hold of dawn, but anet needs to fix nothing.

I’m getting tired of people crying about not getting a precursor. They were deliberately designed, and vocally stated by the Dev team to be super rare. It is a RARE item. Some people get lucky in the forge. Some people get lucky a hundred times in the forge but who cares. Get on with your own game and get that pre.

More fool you actually for spending a thousand gold in it without stopping and just buying it on the top.

People are more complaining about the fact that it is totally random to get a precursor…not about the rarity of the item itself. Nobody wants obtaining a Precursor to become easy and fast.
People are tired of: “kitten , I spent 1000g and still no Precursor”, while on the other hand: “Oh rly?!!? I got mine at my second attempt”.

If they become craftable, they won’t be easy to craft by any stretch. The mats will be intense I’m sure.

Make them craftable and account-bound on creation.

Or give a story line/ quest chain. Still keeping them account-bound. The other precursors found in the current way (drop or MF) can be sold as they are now.

Simple. Effective.

Also, for precursors, I would much prefer a long, hard, solo instanced quest with multiple parts, that just can’t be zerked. I liked the idea of the queen’s gauntlet, but people quickly realized that you could forgo most tactics and just zerk your way to victory in mer seconds (the time limit didn’t help much either in promoting non-zerk strategies). I just hate how the game seems to keep rewarding the zerk (and zerg) mentality, but that’s mostly a separate conversation.

But if there was a 5-10 hour long quest (over multiple instances) that was hard and either limit it to 2 times per character (same as gift of exploration) that made you think on your feet (and couldn’t be zerked) it could be reliable way to get a precursor. Just need to make sure it was account bound.

I don’t think most people care about the grind/work required to get a legendary. Most just don’t like all the uncertainty involved (XX% chance to get ectos from rares/exotics, 33% chance to get clovers, 0.00000X% chance to get a precursor from a drop/MF/chest, 0.X% chance to get a lodestone or t6 mat). With a little over 1k hours of PvE casual (non-grindy) play I only have about 50-60 of each t6 mat and <10 of each lodestone. If that’s too high or low, I’m not sure. It’s just disheartening that the main way to get anything is just farm/buy gold and you can just ignore almost everything else.

I think changing the whole system would be unfair to previous legendary owners.
However, I think that it is fair to have an alternative method to obtain a precursor. This already will make things more balanced (rather than gambling at the MF or hoping for drops). Let’s be honest: nowadays if you have the precursor and map completion it will be relatively smooth sailing.

I wouldn’t mind a quest chain to get a precursor, like the personal story.
