I dont see why people should be forced, almost 3 years after release, to adapt to a playstyle they do not enjoy. I can totally understand anyone who quits playing WvW because of this.
But you were fine with 4 classes making up the vast majority of compositions in every large group from 20 players up, you were fine with the “balance” that there were usually more guardians in everything from a 20 man GvG group to a zone blob, than there were engies, rangers, thieves & mesmers put together.
How about the times in team/map chat when someone asks what is a good build for ranger or engy, and all they get back are replies like “reroll”,“alt-f4”, etc, did you simply laugh at the engy / ranger or did you actually make posts on this forum decrying the balance in WvW and that these classes needed help?
The lack of objectivity and level of hypocrisy in these threads is hilarious.
I really do not believe that stab changes have brought more variety to the classes who were needed in the old meta. Probably it just increased the number of necros and eles.

I think the unique skins you can get nowhere else are a pretty good reward. Would be even better with a collection achievement for getting all 19 though.
In principle, yes, they are a good reward. It is a good idea.
In reality, they are kinda bad looking compared to other skins you can obtain more easily.
This is the reason why I do not see any of those skins around, I reckon.

Melee is now only the cleanup squad after most of the fight is over.
That has been my initial impression as well.
I am not sure whether pirate ship battles will become the future on WvW ; however the trend I see is way more ranged in zergs.

How do you feel about the possible shifting from melee train (warriors/guardians pressure on front-line) to pirate ship wars (ranged bombing) in WvW?
Will you continue to play your warriors/guardians in zergs?

As for trinkets, we have alternative ways to get them (i.e. laurels, Guild Commendations, WvW tokens, etc.), so I do not see the necessity to bring JewelCrafting up to 500. It would be redundant.
To bring Cooking up to 500 would also be redundant as it would mean to increase the stats given by food buffs, which is not in line with how GW2 works (no vertical progression).
IMO, keeping those two professions at 400 is perfectly logical.

GW2 allows you to chose, in many ways, how to play the game. it gives you options. I really do not think that it is a bad idea to decide HOW you wanna play and progress.

I do not see why a ranger would not use Spotter, and frost Spirit (with Vigorous spirit trait in the classic 6/5/0/3/0 and Q. Zephyr + SotW)) in dungeons/fractals. For open world PvE one can use almost whatever.
Weapons should be LB + Sw/Axe (more DPS than Wh). I do not understand why people complain about rangers using LB…maybe they do not know the maths.

With the new patch note, when I think about an overall consistent composition of a group for dungeons and fractals, I still lean towards ideally having a Guardian, Elementalist and Warrior as the starting trio and then add other two classes, as appropriate.
I feel at that point practically any class will do for the last 2 spots.
Still valid or am I missing anything here?

to OP: do you even play Guardian?!
I really do not see any problem in both WvW and PvE for Guardians. On the contrary I feel it is one of the most consistent professions.
For PvP: I rarely saw a competitive team without a Guardian.
I strongly advise you to read the sticky posts on the Guardian GW2 Forum.

I enjoyed the first two weeks, even though it seemed to me always the same stuff.
But there was hope to play against different servers, for a change. Maybe some GvG.
Rewards: I do not play WvW for the rewards; however, it would not hurt to have something a bit more exclusive for putting efforts in WvW and not the same items that people who played in EotM for a total of 1 hour in four weeks can get…
Altogether it was a failed experiment and, once again, friends are quitting the game.

But what happends with a Lower poplated server gets grouped with one thats full you end up having to wait until the groups reset if they even do that and you still dont get what you need for map completion. Your theory is all and good until you have to wait two,three weeks for a chance to finish

Quite frankly, I believe WvW needs serious improvement on any level (XP, maps, match-ups, Seasons, etc.) and not just a re-design of EotM.
WvW / PvP were supposed to be the core part of this game and they receive very little attention from Devs in terms of variety. After this horrible format for Season 3, I wonder who really is gonna stick to this old-fashion system and will not move to other games.

I’m just surprised that so many people are still taking seasons seriously after all this time. The prizes are negligible and the results are pretty much pre-determined by population and coverage.
Just go out there and fight each other. Stop worrying about a stupid scoreboard.
I think it is still an issue related to hope. We hoped this time would be different. From my relative experience I am only seeing people playing less WvW after this Season. Personally, already some guild-mates and in-game friends are quitting again the game.

From my 20 months playing WvW I can say that I can use the fingers of only one hand to count how many players I saw and fought against which were using boosters.
Honestly I don’t see a difference with using or not the boosters, with the gold sink WvW is, don’t think many players would spend their own money with boosters that only remains for 1h. I can agree that would be ‘unfair’ in a small scale fight as well as a duel, but the later can have their own rules if a consensus is reached.

maybe ArenaNet deliberately lied to us about them being unique, because they are dishonest. or maybe ArenaNet made claims that were clearly untrue because they are incompetent.
or maybe they just made an honest mistake, one developer said “repeats will be significantly reduced”, a team manager repeated it as “the repeats problem has been eliminated” then somebody in marketing posts that “there will be no repeats”.

Yes, obviously people who care need to vent this.
If someone promises something, I tend to have expectations. Once my expectations are deluded, I complain.
Mind that my complaints are about playing 75% of the tournament with the same server and 50% of the tournament with exactly the same servers at the same time. Since I play against people of that server already 90% of the time outside of the season…I hoped maybe this time would have been different (as promised by Anet).
Just for argument’s sake:
From Desolation’s prospective (but feel free to pick another server) a tournament with unique matches should have been:
1 week: Desolation / Seafarer’s Rest / Kodash
2 week: Desolation / Elona Reach / Baruch Bay
3 week: Desolation / Gandara / Riverside
4 week: Desolation / Jade Sea / Far Shiverpeaks

I do not mind facing SFR and Kodash again and again. It keeps it ‘interesting’. However, it seems to me that Anet guaranteed we would have ‘unique’ matches every week…
At least, I hoped Anet learned to not make promises they cannot keep…

That post is simply ridiculous on so many levels. I would advise to really not bother. I have nothing to say to people who complain for 1-2 AP less a day for 3-4 weeks and to the people who reply to that kind of posts.

I understand that WvW will never be comparable to PvE in terms of loot. If you are loot-driven then it is safe to say that WvW is not for you.
Nonetheless, I would not mind to get more rewards from an actual PK rather than capping a tower…
How to do it?
Not easy, but I like the suggestion of increasing coin drops for WvW rank chests 1390+
It is also quite odd that, loot-wise, EotM train is way more rewarding than the actual WvW…
Also, please give us some better/new ways to spend Badge of Honor.

In all honesty, EotM is just a sad experiment to level up 2-80 Lvl OR to get WvW ranks to arrive to 242 which most consider as the “minimum” to get the fundamental WvW utilities.
The battles that I have seen in EotM do not really require specific builds/gear, especially if you come from PvE (i.e. you already have full Berserk gear).
You will notice quickly enough that the PvP component in EotM is very marginal.
If you want a piece of advice and you intend to approach the “real” WvW: look for a build you would like to play in WvW and practice with that one (for warrior is the usual dualism worker/destroyer in zergs + the variety of roaming builds).
In EotM You will not have the battles/skirmishes/duels that you find in regular WvW, but at least you will see how it goes in terms of mobility, dps output and survivability. As I said, not the best training camp, but still…

There is still some ignorance leading judgement against Rangers in dungeons.
The Ranger is indeed in good shape and with a spec like the one suggested by the DnT crowd (linked above), I think you will have no problem whatsoever, even in PUG groups.
If any group kicks you with that build, then you are better off without them:-)

The logic behind it was well explained in this post. It simply did not work out and it made the reward system for WvW season really poor.
You get the rewards too easily (5 events?!!?!?), even though I like the logic that WvW does not have to be a PvE AP grinding field, and TBH the skins are not even that great.
I would simply put achievements on players’ kills so that people are actually forced to “play” and not just to bandwagon, PvD or farm EotM; AND a new set of weapon/armor skins every season.
The system how it is now looks simply not well thought and clumsy.
I love WvW and I do not play it for rewards per se. However, this is a MMO and rewards should be better thought….

Agreed, i don’t mind the loss of adrenaline on miss, but this decay is a joke, anyone can just reset the fight and you are left with 0 adrenaline, the old system must be brought back.
I should not have to fight thieves that will listen for my verbal “Adrenaline full!” cues, immediately stealth, reset me, then come right back in. I dont get to reveal stealthed classes by hitting them, why should they be able to toy around with my core mechanic ?
I was fine with adrenaline bursts depleting adrenaline. We were already at the mercy of any class that had a stealth, who thought it was a good idea to nudge us further toward free loot bags?
And the community says anet doesn’t listen to them. Cute.
I can barely be bothered to care though. If it isnt “warriors with X are OP” its “Warriors with Y are OP.”
I suspect someone accidentally attributed 50% to arcing slice bonus and 100% to Adren decay when it should have been the other way around.

Tanked from 2nd place in Gold to Silver league. This is now the least respected server EU. Even worse than Desolation.
