Fractals community inhospitable?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

The randoms I like least in groups are not the ones who make mistakes or don’t know what to do, it’s the ones who don’t talk. They join the group, everyone says “hi, how are you?” and they just stand there. And they don’t say a word the entire time. I want those people to go away. Give me more people who make mistakes, need help, whatever, but will actually engage in conversation. I’d much rather have those people.

So much that. Since the fractals update, it seems that many people just don’t bother anymore to even show the slightest hint of manners.

Hello – Bye – Please – Thanks.

Four magic words that make life a lot easier.

To wrap it up: Taxi Wars 2 became the hostile cesspool other mmo games have so nicely proven to be successful. Good job Anet.

The only thing I really am wondering about is, if the decision about the change of the game’s direction was made be the development team or by the management.

I sincerely hope it was the latter, because I don’t want to know that the developers and the creative team killed the game for me.

This expansion is slowly bud steadily killing the game for me.
As velmeister already stated – it’s grind wars now.

Even though the navigation on the new maps (except for TD) is kinda fun and I like the Herald and Reaper additions… if I could choose, I’d go back to the place before the expansion hit.

As a pure pugger that did fractals and dungeons 99% of the time and as someone that considers TS an immersion killer (see raids), their changes literally killed the game for me.

The artwork is still stunning, but their gameplay and economy changes are alienating.

Due to this expansion, pugging is flatlining.
And raids de facto force you to use TS and join (large) guilds, which is an absolute immersion-breaker for me.
I’d hope they change both issues, but I am quite sure that they won’t.

No one doing dungeons anymore?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

This has already been noted in quite a few other threads, so why a new one is needed, I do not know.

Nonetheless, vanilla GW2 is dead.
Dungeons are dead.
Fractals are seemingly dead.
PvE is a mindnumbing zergfest.
Raids are nothing more than a sequence of bossfights (fun ones though, gotta admit that).

Anet catered to the WoW crowd.
You can like it or you can leave.
Apparently many seem to like it.

Why did they make Maguma so hard?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

Gotta take up the cudgels for Anet here: They gave us a new class, nine expansions on class gameplay (one for each), and four new zones that have nice new mechanics.
Admittedly, they are a more challenging than the old zones, especially the first time around there, but they are overall well made.

Some mobs need finetuning (smokescales…) and Tangled Depths might need to be adjusted to be a little less confusing, but overall it is working well as soon as you get the basic masteries (gliding, mushrooms), which you can get REALLY fast.

Fractals are a mess – nothing to add here.

Can’t make a statement about WvW though, as I don’t do that.

Taking the "Multiplayer" out of MMO

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Matisse.9356

There are actually quite a few posts on this forum or on reddit that complain exactly about the topic of the OP.
They killed dungeons and changed fractals from a group of 5 to 5 individuals doing one of three instanced events: Swampland, Molten Boss, Solid Ocean (with the occasional exception to the rule).
Therefore you get more of the mindless pve zerg they introduced with Silverwastes and braindead CoF grinding.
I hope they adjust the issues with fractals, but I really think that dungeons are – sadly – dead.
At least pvp stays decent – can’t say anything about wvw, as I don’t do that.

Selling on the LFG

Selling items using the LFG Tool is a very bad idea. The tool was not intended for that purpose, and those who use it are not protected from scams, rip-offs, and general heartbreak.

Not to be picky, but this doesn’t answer if lfg-selling is prohibited by the almighty banhammer or if it only gets you the evil eye.

In theory pres should be dropping more often over time as the population’s mf increases

That theory is flawed, as long as new accounts with 0% MF are opened.

That is incorrect. The number of new accounts with 0% MF has no influence on the statement you quote, as it does not have any influence on the overall MF. It does have an influence on the average MF per account, but this is not what Essence Snow was referring to. What has an influence overall amount of MF is if accounts with 1%+ get inactive or the changes (increases) of MF for each account, but this has also not been a part of the statement you quoted.

To sum it up: You are wrong, the quoted statement is correct.

On the bright side… if you want challenging content, go all in on thief… and prepare for a lesson on the meaning of stability… or the lack thereof…

Tip: Get a group as a thief (or any class for that matter) – it is much easier that way.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, with all due respect and love for the game – QA really needs some love at Anet, as the final boss fight was a rather frustrating experience – at least from a thief’s point of view.

The recent change really is a downgrade.
I don’t know why they changed it and I’m actually not sure if it is intentional.
If it is intentional, then they a) wanted to slow down fast trading – successful or b) had an improvement idea gone wrong.
If it was unintentional, they have serious QA issues (for whatever reason) or they just gave this task to an inexperienced UI designer without the proper supervision by a senior… or they had a senior with rfi.
All in all, I really dislike the changes, but that is just my opinion.

Silverwastes Chest Farm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

I was initially all for keeping this farm, but turns out when it is done right it is rather insane.

You can get up to 120 champ bags/hr… I got 14 exotics, 150g in loot, 500 obby shards, 14 stacks of emp frags, 15 stacks of dragonite, and a crap ton of essences of luck today, just from 2-3 hours of farming.

Ascended mats and karma are now completely meaningless, and gold isn’t far behind.

Edit: That said, this is GW2. Exploit/farm early and often is essentially the tagline for this game. So get your farm on now or you will be left behind.

Whilst the rewards are admittedly nice and the days of dragonite shortage are finally over (Thank Goodness!), your statement is an exaggeration. Even with a well-organised farm, you won’t get even close to what you claim.
But I’m glad that you feel the rewards are as plentiful as you describe them.

If you find sudden changes to any material, it is usually a good approach to start your analysis by checking (a) if the material is a crafting/mystic toilet component and if other components have recently undergone a price change. After that, follow up with (b) checking the timeline, i.e. if a special event is taking place (Halloween, LS, …) OR if a special event is soon starting and therefore firing speculants’ imagination.

If you check the timeline for Halloween on gw2spidy, you can see that lots of speculation has taken place before the event started and that the sudden influx of candy corn and co has a (major) impact on trading goods.

Hint: The time between Halloween and Christmas is one of two times during a year, where you can make gold rather easily if you watch the market closely and bring some patience.

Suggest fixing the 1 copper raise problem

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

The 1 copper bid increment is a pretty big inefficiency.

Realistically, if you want to collect the surplus from that inefficiency you need to be using a bot; the inefficiency stems from real transaction costs, and you profit from driving your costs as close to 0 as possible.

Otherwise, you have to really outbid the bots on any particular item. You can still do so and it’ll save you money, but you don’t get to collect the full surplus.

It is a pretty severe inefficiency for a game that ostensibly does not want people botting the TP, but I would not expect to see a fix any time soon.

It seems they actually DO have issues with TP bots and work on resolving them:

We do not know if he has or has not used a bot.

I never said the OP was using a bot, i was referring to the fact that Gus, the head security lead, seems to be sending emails out to players that he thinks are using tp bots, so they seem to be working on reducing the usage of tp bots.

That phrasing is fine for me. Nonetheless, your first post mentioned bot issues and as proof, you linked the thread, therefore implying trading bot usage by the OP of the thread. Hence my first post.

Overabundance of Dragonites

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

Had this topic here a few months already. Yes, there are more people like you swimming in tons of dragonite, aswell as people having more of one or two of the other three ingredients than they can ever put to good use.
For example- I really hate zerg content, farming and I’m not much into WvW either. But I do like small scale party content, so I do quite a lot of dungeons and fractals. So I end up with stacks and stacks of bloodstone dust and fragments, but I’m always short on dragonite.

Also people already suggested somekind of trade system for those three ascended mats (e.g. as you suggested aswell- make them changeable in a ratio somewhere between 1:3 and 1:10), unfortunatly nothing alike got implented so far

This describes it spot on. I’m in the same situuation with dragonite.
I fail to understand why they don’t do anything about it.
And I already hear the blind screaming that “Anet wants to encourage people to try other stuff”. That’s not encouraging, that’s enforcing. And I also fail to understand it from an economic point of view. If they had a trade system for that, it would benefit a gold sink as much more ascended stuff could and would be crafted, therefore pushing the economy. The only explanation I have is that they don’t give a rat’s kitten .

Trading post history invisible

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

As I could just discover, there is a trading post bug regarding the trading history.
The bug prevents you from seeing buy offers of a certain age if you place a rather large amount of buy offers quickly.

Case: I just placed buy offers for approx. 50.000 crafting materials. As a result, I can’t see any buy offers that are now older than 15min, even if I saw them an hour ago. Adjusting the selection or sort order changes nothing. The items from the buy offers don’t appear. This prevents players from cancelling their buy orders and can become rather expensive pretty quick.

Sweet irony has it, that I just wanted to delete some weapon skin orders, which have now successfully been fulfilled.

A bug report with screenshots has been filed.
If you need further info, please do not hesitate to contact me in-game.

How do *you* get Dark Matter?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Matisse.9356

Matisse.9356

If BLSK are not an issue, I suggest you use dungeon tokens to buy exotics.
Head armor is cheapest. If you use below list, your chances are good to salvage for insignias that sell rather well. If you don’t do dungeons, buy the cheapest armor/weapon you can get with below stat combination to salvage for insignias/inscriptions and sought after runes. IF you use mystic/master salvage kits, salvage trinkets as has already been mentioned in an above post.

AC — Soldiers (pow tough vit), Magi (heal prec vit)
CM — Rabid (cond prec tough), Shaman (vit cond heal)
TA — Rabid (cond prec tough), Magi (heal prec vit)
SE — Soldiers (pow tough vit)
CoF — Nothing
HotW — Soldiers (pow tough vit)
CoE — Dire (cond tough vit)
Arah — Rabid (cond prec tough)

Note: For dungeons, start with tokens up until SE, as you can salvage the rares from CoF onwards for ectos.

This is the most profitable way to make use of BLSK and dungeon tokens.

And now they got one, Belinda’s GREATSWORD.
Good job, trolled every thief in the entire game(Assassins equilibrium the duration increase to a half second, was nice too), A-net you made my day^^.

Best solo proffesion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Matisse.9356

Best solo classes are ele and warrior. Others tend to lack damage when solo. If you have ever tried to solo bosses on a ranger you would know it takes a kittening age in full berserkers.

Given that the OP is rather time-limited, I highly doubt that dungeon solo runs are amongst his goals. As you know, that stuff is mainly “reserved” for the hardcore crowd.
And ele is certainly not a class to solo unless you are willing to highly commit to it.
I do not recommend this for casual gameplay, but your mileage may vary, of course.

Ranger: Bear + Bows for some brain-afk gameplay which is still surprisingly effective. Recommended if you want to read the newspaper, watch a movie etc. whilst playing.

Warrior: Relaxed gameplay, needs a bit more attention than aforementioned woodpecker. Good option, as you can play every gamemode with this class without being frowned upon (specifically aiming at dungeoneering…).

Thief: My favorite choice, as nothing kills as quick as the thief. Might wanna put the newspaper aside unless you have an uncanny affection for waypoints.

Happened to me too some time ago – if I had to guess, I’d say you have an old rig like I did.
You can get a new rig or count the d/c kicks you get, as you will only receive a ban after your absence in a row – for whatever reason. To my knowledge, each d/c count resets after 24 hours.
I understand your point of view, but then again this meant that three times there was an infamous 4vs5 ongoing due to you (or anybody in your situation for that matter).
So something needs to be done and this seems to be the only viable solution.
Please keep in mind that I don’t claim it to be a good solution.

Besides that, I fully agree. As I am trying to go casual on this game, I want to specifically point out that – at least for me – the time issue causes some constraints if you pug fractals. Not that I expect any changes though.

I think price will crash pretty hard if it’s the same event as last year.

The destroyer farm wasn’t THAT prevalent towards the end simply because only a few servers had the population to support it (eg. SoS had no one in the crown pav near the end of the event) but with the Megaservers there will be a farm train there 24/7.

That. With emphasis on the note IF it is the same event it was last year, especially loot-wise (remember the candy corn…).

I’m happy about any change, as the TP seems a bit stale recently.
But maybe that is just the products I’m in the market for.
