Is their any class beside mesmer that has problems leveling???
Ele starts out pretty squishy, but once you get a few utility skills and traits opened it gets a lot better. Mesmer has to wait a lot longer for the Deceptive Evasion trait.
Nah the problem with mesmer is that you cant nuke through the content like with other classes.
Is their any class beside mesmer that has problems leveling???
Have not applied the perplexity runes I made long ago but figured the change in fear would be nice. Debating on a new armor set for them.
Just a tip dont put such expensive runes on gear that you cant salvage
No, they kill you cos you go full tank and can’t kill a fly.
Wut full dire tank specs have the easiest time against thieves.
Until that condi tank bumbs into someone who knows how to deal with condis builds, which are easy to play but generally limited in comparison to power builds.
Well we talk about thieves here and the 2 most played condi specs are engi and necro which both make it a uphill battle for thieves.
Also dagger offhand is the best choice along with scepter. Unless you think that focus And warhorn are good for condi builds…
Warhorn is really good for perplexity rune condi necros

answer:
dire armor with perplexity runes, rabid everything else.
6/4/0/0/4 (both fear specs).if you cant beat em cheese em.
A Thief can play the same game with full dire p/d and likely win :/
Yeah like a full condi spec has a good stand against a full condi necro.
Once stealthed there is no target to locate, and there is no tells to what to prepare for. The skill floor playing against a Thief is very high, but not much creeping after that. It requires you routinely play a Thief and die to them many times before you know what best to do.
Thieves are EXTREMLY predictable, even more than a warrior because of their squishyness they have to go defensive after the first attack. Which is either dodge spam or stealth. Their initiative regen forces them to switch between defensive and aggressive all the time. They cant do both at the same time like the other classes. The other reasons why thieves use almost a PvE rotation in PvP is because they only have 5 skills + utility to use. Their second set is either the same set with different signets or different offhand or a shortbow. Switching weapon is not something a thief usually wants to do because he doesnt benefit from it.
I bet if every WvW player would be forced to view a short video of what each of the popular thief specs does in its PvP rotation than we would have A ) way more people stomping thieves, B ) alot more whine from the thief community and C ) way less thieves in WvW.
Also if you really really dislike thieves in WvW play a condi necro or engi, well just eat some vegi pizza so it looks like you are condi. Most thieves that are actually good will think twice bevor they ambush your because they know its a uphill battle for them.
(edited by Mayama.1854)
remove the necro class from tPvP and we can talk about P/D becoming meta in tPvP
Elementalist and Guardian.
Engis and Warriors too
The other thing is that thieves have no end to “oh crap” buttons. This includes shadowstep, blinds, and of course stealth. If you seriously think you can take them in one burst while putting yourself at risk, you better hope they’re bad. On the other hand, pressuring them enough so they’re forced to waste them is another story.
A terrormancer can kill a thief in the time of one fear. A thief will always lose a war of attrition against a condi necromancer. A good tip to handly thieves well is go into death shroud asap when the thief appears. He cant stealth for 3 seconds, gets feard and his hits are basicaly meaningless cause they only remove life force.
Condi necros and engis are a thiefs worst nightmare if they know what they are doing. I posted a video above, watch it a bit so you can understand how that guy handles his enemies.

It should give you some buffs if you wear a fedora at the same time.
Hey all,.
I’m another with World Completion stuck at 99%. I’m just trying to work out what actually determines the colours in WvW. I’m on Seafarer’s Rest and we have won for the last 6 weeks in a row. But for the last 3 weeks (including the new one starting today) we have been assigned red. All I need basically is the Green and Blue Borderlands keeps so this is kind of annoying. As far as I can tell, colours are supposedly determined by rank with green being for the highest and red being for the lowest. If this is true, then why have SFR been given red for the last few weeks??
Does anyone know definitively what determines the colour allocations?
Cheers
Ok lets asume you are right that red is given to the lowest server. If it is true it means that the clicko rating system gave you red because you lost points. It thinks you should have won way higher because SFR is one of the only EU servers that can cover the map 24/7. By not doing that you actually lose points in the system and the other servers gain points. SFR is superlazy they only zerg at 4 at the morning if its really needed to win even if they could do it the whole time.
we the other group of warriors NEED this mobility to even be close enough to Thieves and Mesmers, to be able to have a chance against them.
nerfing Warrior mobility will hurt this group of warriors, but those who flee will just have to do it earlier.
This is a joke right? We are talking about WvW here and every warrior can sit on my face 90% of the time because dogged march, buff food and runes make him almost invincible against any form of soft CC. They dont even need a greatsword for that.
Roaming condi necro eats thieves (and other classes) for breakfast.
Maybee it helps you
(edited by Mayama.1854)
Even on a full cheese mode perplexity condi engineer I have to press way more buttons and plan ahead compared to a warrior or ranger. Yes you spam 1 to deal most of you damage but you are constantly rotating all your def skills in and out to actually survive.
Rampage – We want this elite to make you feel more like a juggernaut
and now please buff juggernaut too so we feel like a juggernaut while juggernauting
People usually think thieves are OP because D/D can do complelty unbalanced damage in WvW thanks to buff food, stack sigil and wvw power stacks from guards.
Thieves in general are weak against builds that dont rely on big hitting skills to deal damage because you cant dodge/stealth all those 1 spam from a necro or engi.
the extra condition transfer is op against other condi builds.
…thats why I usually dont bother and just run around any condi necro that I encounter on my engi in 1v1 WvW roaming, not like you could chase me in any way
… the beta necromancer. When the class actually had REAL sustain and you could get personal with a 10 man zerg in WvW.
So you’re suggesting to fix hotjoin brainless zerging adding more brainless chickens into map?
Go home deimos you’re drunk
I for myself enjoyed a little brainless 8v8 zerging from time to time. Like omg dont implement not serious PvP modes because we are super serious, no fun allowed, PvP pros in every freaking match. It also lowered the entrence barrier for newbies because it didnt matter so much if you completly kittened things up in 8v8.
Perplexity runes are so broken and never should have been in the game. I can only really speak from a engineer/thief perspective but those stupid runes are responsible for half the damage done to a downed enemy. No rune should be that powerfull.
If you have something around or close to 2000 condi damage in WvW (which you can easily archive with both stacks and food) perplexy runes make your enemy kill himself. You dont even have to time your interrupts, the random ones that happen are enough.
(edited by Mayama.1854)
Isn’t thief about tactfully picking your battles and securing easier kills? If something about that leads you to fight a turret engy on point, then you are doing it wrong. I’ve played both sides of the coin and I can tell you that even if you think it’s worth going after a bunker turret engy; it’s not.
You should see the match roster at the start of the game and cross engy off the list of targets if you even think he may be running full bunker + turrets.
Yeah exactly dont even freaking bother, people need to get of their high horse and think a thief needs to kill everything. If you try to kill the turret engi 1v1 you are actually play his game. He wants that. That is what he is build for, defending a point against one opponent forever. You wont win that and even if you do it would take so long that your whole team has to fight 4v5 throughout the entire match.
Play thief like hes a healer, rush to anyone in danger and peel/save anyone that gets crushed by a good 1v1 fighter on the enemy team. You are not the leadzor xxx assassin 420 you might want to be, you are freaking robin hood. Help the team. You know the guys that are not specced for 1v1 that help you with their aoe healing and boons. Just because a thief is designed in a egocentric way doesnt mean you have to play it like that.
Your team is the armor you are the weapon, play accordingly and dont let your team down by not freaking strike them at their weak spot.

The only passive thing warrior have is HS with AH (passive healing). Other than that he is always working the keyboard.
…and that passive healing is a joke and makes warriors so easy to play (beside the high base stats).
Your QQ is noted. Thanks for the feedback.
Its not whining, I simply posted a fact.
Then elaborate and give construtive feedback how to change that passive healing without losing sustain.
Just reduce it, or in the grand scheme of things reduce the tankyness or damage. Warrior is to good at everything right now. Especially because most of it is passive or build in one skills. For example people complain about ele healing but you need to combo waterfields to get really decent healing. That means you have to plan and calculate how to use skills and rotation.
Imo and thats just my stupid personal oppinion. Warrior needs a reworkt to make him more interesting like make stances his f1-f4 skills and every stance alters the way each weapon skill works. Like I said just my humble oppinion and it will never happen.
Olba, its not the lack of evades. The problem is that a warrior still does more damage inbetween those evades to me than i do to him. I never complain about lack of evades when i have Feline Grace and Vigor most of the time. But going conditions… well, i´d rather uninstall the game before i touch condition builds. Those are cheap seeing how conditions rule small group and solo Meta.
And Narkodx – special snowflake, eh? Not meant as an offense, but players like you are the reason everyone and their grandma lost all fighting honor and instead fighting honorable with good sportsmanship people rather play cheap to ensure an easy kill. And that is highly disappointing.
Tomorrow we´ll see how much ArenaNet understands from “their job and theirs only”.
Its not cheap its just how it is, their will always be builds that are better than others. Restricting yourself to “not cheese” builds only makes you lose because no one else is using your made up rules. The game itself is only a box of tools, how you use them is up to you. Look at real life sport for example, theirs no “cheese” because its about real money and every legal option that makes it easier to win will be used and abused.
About P/D thieves they are not that scarry if you know what you are doing. A fresh air ele can shut him down so hard that its basicaly a joke matchup. A condi engi can easily outspam him, outrange him, applies almost perma weakness which mean his endurance is halved and he has a really hard time to get a c&d off. A tanky condi ranger can basicaly ignore him. Its not like P/D is on top of the food chain without getting destroyed by any spec.
we are cute in our own unique way >_<
not at all
More like “we will do very cruel things to you and everyone you love”
If it takes 2+ people to kill 1 player then they probably weren’t that good.
So all those small groups in WvW that fight a d/d thief and cant kill him are bad? All those players that try to kill a shout warrior or bunker guardian in tPvP are bad? I dont think so.
Usually yeah. But comparing glassy thieves with heavy bunkers doesn’t help your case.
All those specs are more or less unkillable in those situations if they dont want to die.
Glass anything is highly killable. Kill faster if you are having problems.
Yeah of course as long as theirs a wall or critter D/D will not die to anything
Eviscerate 1 shots me. I do not fight axe warriors because of this. My backstab hits them for 4-7k + sigil damage. They hit me for 15k + sigil damage.
Shouldn’t run glass cannon against a glass cannon and complain when you lose.
I run 50:50 Berserker:Knight and I rarely see Eviscerate going over 10k under my own power.
Glass cannon versus a glass canon that is tankier than my tanky hyprid engineer build… and seriously? Omg “rarely see eviscerate going over 10k”??? Every other class beside thieves needs to go completly zerker to get even close to “rarley over 10k” damage. I am happy if skills go over 3k on my engi.

So after reading the “GvG ranger” thread i thought why not make a thread about the other stepchild of WvW zerging, the engineer. What needs to be changed or improved to make the engi good at zerging, frontline, blackline or ganksquad. What needs to be done to make pubcommanders and GvG leaders want engineers in their group?
Edit: I took a long break, almost one year. So if the engi was actually good at zerging at one point I dont know it.
(edited by Mayama.1854)
Seeing that ToL teams win due too bunkers I think it would be nice to have a game mode where bunkers are useless. It would only be about killing others and teamwork. I’m sick and tired of the circles where you stand in them….
If its about killing others condition bunkers would be very effective.

Capture the flag maybe. Mobility/survivabliity would be a huge factor. If they do a CTF mode, I’d like to see it based more around classes using each other to survive and relying on each other to survive/capture the flag.
All mobility skills/swiftness and invunerability, stability and blocks should be disabled for the flag carrier.
TDM would just result in basically the conquest meta, just without bunkers.
Lets asume its like WoW 3v3 arena. In a similar mode I would see room for alot of supportive bunker builds like heal guardians or turret engis.

I fought one 5 min ago, 1200 range him with elixir gun bleed spam. If he comes close to c&d max range again with elixir gun 4 or rocket boots and if he really really wants to c&d put gluebomb + some other bombs at your feet. Works like a charm. Also if he gets invisible count to 2 and use your magnetic shield. Theirs a very big chance that he will bleedstack himself. If he swtiches to shortbow to close the distance for some weird reason he can only close the gab and gets 10 bleedstacks and burning to his face cause he has no initative left and sits in a weapon set he doesnt want to be in.
Thats how I do it works on my engi.
(edited by Mayama.1854)
On kodash people tend to play “the kodash cloud”. They basicaly refuse to stay sticky to the commander and run all over the place. Its something people make fun off because its a nooby thing to do but from my observation its suprisingly effective in open field fights. The enemy melee train has no target it can focus on and runs randomly around getting hit from every direction, means the caster backline cant hide behind the frontline. Its bascialy like a pack of antelopes handles a predator attack, spreading out makes it very hard to actually kill anything.
Only a WvW player thinks getting critted for 10k or more is completly normal
Just remove the bonus stats they get so a zerker warrior gets 2-3 hit by another zerker like everyone else or they go bunker and deal not much damage like everybody else.
Honestly though if you are new and want fast results just play bunker turret engi xd
Just dont forget to disable whisper from your allchat
A-Net can we make a deal? You make engis and ranger good at zerging and I make you a video.
I came back after a very long pause and all of a sudden I have a problem selecting targets. It feels like I click on enemies but the game refuses to select the guy… Its especially anoying against mesmers because tab targeting usually cycles through all the clones first… Getting enemys in target only really works now when someone absolutly stands still, its not a ping issue I checked with the resource manager the latency is decent.
(edited by Mayama.1854)
And this is ALL based on 1v1 scenarios… add in a second player with me (2v1), and the list narrows down to: Good Clone Mesmers / Engineer build, are very hard, Guardians remain to be a lot of work or stalemate. The rest usually dies (except for warriors with their great sword). Add a second player for the opponent (1v2) and I’m left running mostly, if i don’t die flat out…
any profession/build that can actually win 2v1 against good players is completly broken, the way gw2 pvp works makes it impossible. The only exeptions are if the 2 enemies get ambushed by a zerker build and one gets down instantly or people are stupid enough to stay in range of a condi-bunker that slowly melts them
Wish list huh? Okay:
1. Slight buff to Backstab.
2. Increase in Stealth durations.
You are such a troll
If engineers only had some kind of throwing bombs kit with much further range. Like some kind of granades to throw them. Idk, call me dreamer.
Grenades dont offer the utility and prefered conditions for zerging. Gluebomb, Confusion and smokebomb offer far more than anything the gren kid gives you for big scale fights.
Nice job you made me play my thief again after a very long pause. P/P is the weaponset why I actually made a thief almost 2 years ago.
Grandmaster trait that lets you place bombs at range, 900 units. Kinda like the necromancer well trait.
Go play a power guardian or power engi, it would help you to understand whats the problem with warriors is. Both need to get close to deal most of their damage and both are tanky OR do tons of damage.
elixir gun is actually a garbage dps kit
you only use 4 then you swap out
the other skills are godly utility skills thoTraited elixir gun is brutal in WvW on a condition builds
spam 1 and stack bleeds?
Yes with condi duration buff food its all you have to do to win against most builds 1v1. 1200 range, burn, bleed, maybee torment from sigil obliterates most enemies if theirs no wall to hide to take pressure off.
