I can’t interact with the trading post in EBG. Sitting at spawn. No interact option. Nobody on the map can. Not sure if it’s on more servers than just mine (BG).

A fix would be great. Kinda sucks not being able to buy myself sharpening stones after having sat through the queue.

Is there no way for you to skip individual accounts/characters through these steps and give them their rewards? I have a friend who’s stuck on the last story chapter of HoT and the game crashes her every time she’s about to finish. She’s done it about 10 times alone and a few times with guildies. It’s not that she can’t finish, it’s that the game constantly crashes her when she does.

All support has told her to do is submit tickets and she’s over here contemplating quitting pve/the game altogether because it won’t let her get the pants she wants (the reward from the story) and support won’t offer any actual support.

I understand that you guys are working to fix this, but as has been said already: it’s been a few months/longer. If the fix can’t happen soon, you need to start thinking of intermediate fixes. Temporary solutions that will keep players around and happy while you sort through your code.

But let me explain a bit: I wanted to post because by doing so, players who may not have seen a “red post” for a while will be assured that we are actively reading and responding to this question, and that there are no changes in our plans to bring back this well-loved element of the game.

But that’s just misleading. Just quickly skimmed through the past 10 months in this thread and I saw no red posts. So maybe your post here will do something to assure new players that you’re reading, but the “and responding” seems to be just plain false. What did we know before your post? SAB will be coming back sometime, we don’t know when. What do we know after your post? SAB will be coming back sometime, we don’t know when. To me, that’s not a response. That’s repetitive. That’s simply a reiteration of knowledge that we already have. Nothing new is provided. I guess in the most technical of senses, it’s a response, but barely.

You guys — SAB is coming back. Colin said it. It’s true. This is positive and definite and no I don’t have a date and I know you’d like to have one but that’s not possible but… it’s coming back. Posts that proclaim it’s not coming are not just wrong — they’re dead wrong. Posts that express upset about the coin — while I understand them — will be moot when SAB returns. Which will happen.

All I can say is keep your chin up, because it’s going to happen.

Many on BG and JQ dont care about winning and PPT. We come for fights, because winning and ppt are meaningless. Yaks bend is kittenous garbage server that does nothing but pvd and siegehump. If there was anything on the line, like a tournament I can assure you BG and JQ would be out in force and YB would be crushed.

Many on YB come for fights, but are unable to fight on even grounds due to having considerably smaller forces. JQ and BG have kittenous garbage players that run in much larger groups, often times team up to fight YB, and complain like sore losers just because YB uses allowed game mechanics just to stay competetive. I guess at the end of the day, these players can rest assured that they’re clearly more “skilled” as those 10 YB wouldn’t have killed their 20+ man zergs without siege weaponry.

See, I can do it too.

Do people… honestly think like this? Like… serious question. I’ve met maybe 3 people who had those opinions and I pretty quickly told them to kitten, but for the most part I feel like people who zerg are fairly aware that they’re zerging. Right? Am I just hanging around with the wrong people? I stopped going into public teamspeaks a while ago.

As I’m fairly certain I pointed out, none of this has been confirmed by anyone even remotely related to Anet, but that’s partially because these beta tests have yet to happen. All that exists as far as I know are invitations extended to specific guilds. So sure, it’s conjecture and secondary sources at this point, but it’s better to be annoyed by conjecture and have Anet fix their kitten than to only accept the official statements made by Anet.

If you haven’t noticed, Anet has made no legitimate posts about WvW in many months. Small statements have been made, but nothing substantial and firm has been said about wvw developments at all. If we’re going to wait for sources to be double-checked or triple-checked, we’re never going to talk about anything. Ever. Not until it’s released, anyways.

At least you admitted to only assuming a bunch of bunk that might or might not be happening. Why even get your underpants in this much of a wad over something that might not even be a real issue? Do you just like being upset and didnt get enough kitten on your cheerios today so you decided to go kitten on the forums?

Instead of looking for something to be bitter about and creating an issue where there might not be an issue, go find something to be happy about. Its beautiful outside! The sun is out! Its Friday!

Assuming based off of sources who I have no reason to doubt. They’ve been right about this kind of thing in the past.

Also, it’s raining heavily here. Not going outside. Me being annoyed is entirely tied to the communication and performance of WvW devs in the past and at present.

Hi folks.

I’m not sure how many of you are aware, but Anet is actually developing things for wvw. The fact that we’ve heard nothing about it is one things, but I’m here to (maybe) stir up some drama about a different aspect of this.

Anet has been inviting guilds to participate in the ‘beta’ or whatever you’d call it for WvW changes. However, of the 2 guilds I know that were invited, 1 still plays the game and it is a PvE guild. The WvW guild that I know has been invited died almost half a year ago and few of its members still play.

HOW IS THIS A THING THAT IS HAPPENING? What part of game development has its developers draw a group to test it from outside the population currently playing the content? I get maybe drawing in a few PvE folks to test things, but for the most part, when it comes to a WvW update, why do you not get actual (and current) WvW players to test things? We know the kind of kitten that went down if EotM and the desert borderlands. If Anet honestly thinks that they can pull the same kitten and get a better result, I feel even more sorry for the state of this game.

Melanion.4892

Stab was never an issue, players like to lay blame and stab was an easy target. The reality is 90% of player would freak out and have a seizure on inc and blow everything then stand there like a deer in headlights instead of Kiting, moving, timing their CC correctly and most importantly knowing what CC’s ignore stab. If everyone of your players capable of using CC blows it on inc then just stands there and gets ran over well … that’s a player issue not a mechanic issue.

Aside from that, these people that claim they would return, have they played since HoT and do they know what they would be returning to ? Stability changes hurt WvW but it is only a drop of water in an ocean of issues.

The guys I talk to return every few weeks to try things out. They know what they’re getting back into, but at least a stability fix would help things. Tonight, we ran into a few other issues when they tagged along that (in my opinion) need to be immediately addressed.

There are so many things about wvw that need help, but stability changes at least let open field fights take place without immediate cheese.

The issue comes when a longbow guardian pops lb 5 and 5 rings appear, but right on top of each other. To get out, I need more than one stack of stab. That should not be the case. If 2 guardians were to ring me with their hammers, one stability stack will get me out. If 2 eles static me, one stab stack will get me out. If one guardian longbow 5s me, I need at LEAST 3 stacks of stab to get out. An ICD would allow for something other than stability ripping bombs. At present, I don’t use soft cc for anything, as I’ve mentioned. Hard cc is god. Why have soft cc if it’s not going to be needed in any way? I’m not asking for stability to be a pop once and you’re free from everything kind of skill, but I’m asking for it to prevent me from getting locked into a cc that I can’t get out of unless I have infinite stacks of stability.

Thats an issue regarding individual skills. I agree with you, skills like guard lb 5 are horrendous. Having stab should not be able to negate 50 ccs like it did before, and an icd is basically a reversion seeing as how you would be running through several ccs at once.

How is this an issue of individual skill? I can dodge most of the longbow 5s, but when the enemy group has 5, you run out of dodges or the visual cues just disappear. As it is, an attentive guardian can follow a static with their longbow 5 and nobody can move. Unless you’re one of the few classes that can run around with 5+ stacks of stability, you’re not getting out of that. Normally I’m not the one hit with these things, but when you ARE hit with the wall, it should be similar to guardian hammer rings. Eg: one stack of stability lets you get out. The only reason we’re suggesting an ICD for stability removal is because apparently stability as it is does not guarantee exit from cc like this, even though it should. 2 rings on top of each other are not flaws in out skill, it’s cheese because we can’t get out.

If 2 eles drop statics on top of each other, one stack of stability gets you out of both. Simple. If 2 necros drop a fear wall on top of each other, one stack of stab, again. All other cc in the game, if placed in exactly the same place, will negate only one stack of stability. That’s what I’d call skill. Knowing where your allies are dropping their cc and spreading it or timing it so that they’re constantly cc’d. All classes aside from longbow guardian have to think about this kind of thing.

Pretty much.

There’s a mismatch between the relative strength of CC and stability. They’re implemented in a way that suggests they should be equal (1 stab for 1 CC), but the difference in target limit (none for many CCs, 5 for primary stab) means that stability scales horribly with fight size.

While certain cases (e.g. Hunter’s Ward) are problematic in small scales as well, this is mainly an issue that effects 25+ fights.

So what can you do? It’s important to retain the functionality of hard CC (lines, static etc..) because it benefits outnumbered players. That leaves stab to be tweaked. It has to be done in a way that doesn’t strengthen the unorganized blob more than the guild group. I can not think of a better way to meet this requirement than with the icd idea. It effectively caps the amount of CC that’s useful, equalizing that aspect of a fight between groups of different sizes. The larger group is now only superior in damage mitigation and damage output. Since WvW fights revolve a lot around good movement, this produces a much more favorable environment for the more skilled group.

THIS !! THIS !! THIS !!
but still think old stab is even better than a icd on loosing stacks cause it require no skill for a bigger blob to jsut spam random cc to make sure the smaller guild lossing there stacks even with icd faster than the big blob.

stabilty wise a small guild should be equal powerful to a big blob. the big blob have way more dmg and player for dmg mitigation, but plz let the skilled group not just get rekt in random aoe/cc spamming by the bigger blob without counterplay.

The old stabily had 1 simple counterplay, not spam your cc randomly , you must have some skill and rek the enemy in the short periodes without stab. way more skillfull than this meta atm

we never get the old hammertrain meta back cause the aoe and dmg power creep in this game make bl playing so op it will still dominate the fights

I don’t care so much about the random aoe cc spam, because in blob-busting groups it was always a good idea to be careful of them. Eles and necros and most people that aren’t frontline were able to get by without stability if they were smart. Now, this isn’t the case. Taking on a group that outnumbers you requires the ability to move and some skills are usable from range which prevent that movement unless you have stability. A static, once hit, will let you out. That’s reasonable, in my opinion. You can be static’d once every second or two, I think, so you’re not completely immune to them, but they can’t keep you there indefinitely.

snip

And the question I have for that is.. why?

Being in a 60 man zerg while facerolling the keyboard all the time is hardly what I would call “good” standards of play to begin with.

When it comes to skillful play – ie duels and small scale – an icd wouldnt make much of a difference. A single player can hardly CC stab faster than 1/sec (or halfsec, whatever). A group of players would just have to spread out their CC a little instead of nuking a single player, encouraging thought behind their CC.

An icd would only affect the massive CC bombs from zergs that insta-rip 10-20 stacks of stab.

Regarding the calculations, I dont know how it would affect performance but tbh I think it would be marginal.

It promotes late reaction times. If you get caught by 20 ccs, you should die. Its something to get used to, and I wish they had it like this since the beginning because there likely would not have been an exodus. The proposed stab icd is a huge buff, it might as well be a reversion. Anet is not likely to go for it. I will admit it is intriguing.

I can see that point of view, and even agree to a point. The fact that your cc would be wasted though will receive a lot of bad juju and for good reason, it shouldnt happen. I can imagine a scenario where boon strips are on cd, you both jump on someone with 2 stacks of stab stomping your mate, but fail to get in a 3rd cc because of this stab icd. Its really janky if you think about it.

Regarding the calculations, honestly that was filler.

The issue comes when a longbow guardian pops lb 5 and 5 rings appear, but right on top of each other. To get out, I need more than one stack of stab. That should not be the case. I think that them changing all the skills involving stability is too much to ask… it would take ages to balance everything out etc. so I think we should not ask for that, it’s not gonna happen…

although I think adding internal cd of 0.5 sec on stab stack removal can be implemented and at least tested for a few weeks…

PS: what I really want is when I am in enemy CC bomb, floating around in gravity wells, surrounded by statics guardian (invisible) longbow rings and I use a break stun that grants me 3-5 stacks of stab to be able to AT LEAST DODGE AWAY, instead of my stab stacks disappear INSTANTLY…
seriously though, is it that much to ask? happened to me countless times, used breakstun with some stab stacks but the moment I clicked the skill and tried to dodge away or use invulnerability skill or something I couldn’t because the stab disappeared in 0.001 sec and I was back where I started, being CCd to death….

Exactly. Stability should function as a sort of preemptive stunbreak. At the moment, there’s no reason to pop stab if you’re in a guardian longbow 5 because you’re not getting out unless you’ve got at least 5 stacks and even then it’s iffy.

Melanion.4892

I think the major problem with keeping stability like it currently is comes when groups drop multiple ccs without aoe caps. Statics have a mechanic built into them which prevents you from being hit by multiple at the same time. Guardian rings and longbow 5s don’t have that same mechanic, so we are left with easily stripped stability. 5 stacks quickly disappear if one or two guardians drop longbow 5 (from range, too).

I like the idea of in internal cooldown to the amount of stability which can be removed by cc. At the moment, there is no reason to try anything to do with soft cc when we’ve got easily spammable hard cc to lock a zerg down. A 0.5 or 1 second icd would help a lot. 10 stacks of stability are relatively difficult to come by, but aside from a straight up boon strip they should last a minimum of 5 seconds, I’d think. I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t even bother with traiting for stability. It’s easier to just grab a ranged weapon. Not as fun.

Can’t really blame the devs for being silent. I’ve had this game since day one and back in the beginning they were active and vocal on the forums. What I noticed was a large part of the community was very hostile towards. Nitpicking their words, insulting them, being passive aggressive.

I want them to come back, it’s cool to be able to talk to developers and play alongside them in game. Unfortunately I know that they will have to endure a lot of abuse if they do; so its best they continue on with their own “vision” of the game.. in silence. While people blame the devs for things like the current balance of the game I believe a lot of the whining from the community has contributed towards that as well.

The game is in the worst state it’s ever been and I believe “we” are equally to blame. I don’t think any of this is fixable as it would take too much time and money to do all the fixes needed. Rip Guild Wars 2

Are you honestly suggesting that a valid excuse for not talking to your consumer is “they were mean to me” and “they’re never happy anyway”? It is most definitely not best for the devs to continue with their vision for the game if their vision is reflected in Golem week and dragon banners and Stonemist Airships. Those are not good ideas. Everything else can be dealt with, like siege and zerging; we’ve had to deal with those things from the beginning of the game and when Devon Carver decided to try his hand at designing, but we’ve adapted. Those were hated changes, but at least manageable changes. Now I’d hate to see what the devs have in store simply come into existence. I’d much rather we get a clear picture of the way they see the game developing and say “THIS IS HOW IT WILL BE, DISCUSS” and take suggestions about how that could be bettered. Ignore the people who simply say “this is a bad decision, revert that” much like they’re ignoring those suggesting we bring back the alpine borderlands. Instead, focus on what can be changed about the desert borderlands to make them more enjoyable for everyone.

I suggest you are not being objective and are just filtering out the posts and threads that do not suit your view of meaningful engagement.

Just go back and read some of the posts in this very thread or look at the headings of some of the topics started by players such as “One Liners for Anet” and tell me how they help to move the game forward and give the devs any sort of idea of what can truly help WvW?

I have already stated that ANET can improve on its communication problems. I also stated these boards have many toxic posters and are toxic for the sake of it and no this is not “because of Anet”. I have worked in the Computer services industry for a long time and there has always been customers that were toxic.

Indeed my current boss has offcialy “fired” a number of Customers (sent letters annulling the contracts and indicating they would get no further service through our firm) because they were unrelenting in their demands and denigrating his employees continously.

A little respect for people trying to do a job can go a long way. This game does have a whole lot of people who feel that just because they have spent 40 dollars, they can demand employees be fired or question their competence.

The fact remains many of the players demands for changed gameplay are unreasonable and there is no uiniversal consensus by the players as to what changes should be made.

My own opinion is the DEVS should not respond directly here on the boards to players questions and demands . They should spend their time setting things right and not wading through all these posts looking for insights. It should be done as it is being done , that by a person like Gaile who can collate all of the posts, strip out the nonsense and come back with regular updates. In so doing the player should not expect a continous back and forth engagement where each and every individual has his or her questions answered or concerns addressed. The issues addressed should be those that are of the greatest concern to the greatest number of people.

I didn’t ever mean to suggest that all threads in these forums are useful. I don’t even know if any of them are useful. What I was trying to get across is that if Anet had a forum coordinator like Gaile who could give and receive information, we’d all have a better and more productive experience on these forums. Either way, you cannot with any certainty say that these forums would look anything like they currently do (in tone or in content) if the devs adopted a more communicative posture. Is a thread just meaningless drivel? Ignore it. Is the thread about a legitimate concern that the community and maybe a few devs have? Respond to it. Did you see something happen this week in an ESO tournament or in your free time when you’re not being a dev? Take note and bring it up at work, then write that you’re going to look into it asap so that we’re not freaking out. Are hackers low on the totem pole of things to do? Tell us and we’ll stop expecting it to be fixed. Are dragon banners supposed to be combined with continuum split? No. So write about it before the community freaks out that you’re not responding to them.

If things continue, players will suggest things. Devs will or will not read them. They will do as they will with that information. Instead, if devs popped into the meaningful threads, such as the one right now concerning only having unranked pvp in the off-season, and they mentioned something, even just “We’re looking into it, but it is or is not a high priority” players would respond in kind. Likewise, if the Diamond Skin ele thread was quickly and efficiently met by a dev saying “yes, we think it needs to be addressed, we’re playing with some ideas now” we would waste much less time and energy trying to get a dev’s attention to a problem that is already acknowledged.

Do they need to give us every detail of their entire day of work? No. I’d love to see it for my own purposes, but it’s not necessary. However, if Gaile (or someone else, idk. Seems like she’s not doing it, so it’s obviously not part of her job, so maybe make it someone’s job?) every Monday presents the team with a quick summary of the forum’s thoughts and concerns about the game and then quickly gives a “here are the team’s big thoughts about these things,” players would at least feel listened to. It doesn’t even need to be every week. Every two weeks could work. Maybe just the 2 Fridays following a major balance patch. Who knows.

You mention your boss ripping up contracts. Not communicating is Anet’s way of ripping up contracts, it seems. Can they afford to do so? I doubt it. Most of my friend’s list is from WvW and more and more of them are simply not logging on or buying expansions. Guild Wars 2, unlike subscription based games, does not have the luxury of measuring their player base as easily and does not get a monthly stream of money. They must rely on our continued playing of the game. There’s a new expansion coming. If the game modes that I play don’t get addressed, the likelihood that I will buy the expansion decreases dramatically. Same goes for most of my friends. Same goes for most of my guilds (the ones that are not yet dead because of the current state of WvW).

I give respect to devs when I can. That is quickly waning, though. I love Tyler. He’s a great dev (maybe he’s not a dev, idk at this point). He was a cool dude to run with a few times, but eventually the things I like about devs get overshadowed by my frustration with the devs (no longer about Tyler here, he probably has nothing to do with any of this). I try to remain civil, nevertheless. The same thing happens when politicians begin to ignore their constituents. The constituents begin to look for a different leader. Same goes for any company that you choose to continue supporting. It’s cheaper for companies to retain customers than it is to get new ones. Maybe that’s not the case for Anet. Maybe they want to take WvW out of the equation. I’m not sure. Perhaps the grass isn’t greener on the other side, but from my perspective, I’m going to check the other side of every hill until the grass over here is greener or until I find greener grass.

Also, if you only spent $40 on this game, you’re one of few that I know. Server transfers, makeover kits, expansions, character slots, etc etc. I’ve spent about $20 on this game each month that I’m playing and I feel like my game mode is being respected. That, for the most part, has stopped for the past ~year. Again, I’m not the only one. Is my business essential for Anet to function? No. Should my business being essential to Anet be required in order for some communication to come to the WvW community? No. Not at all.

I don’t need it to be fixed by tomorrow. I want it to be addressed, though. The quicker the better. It took me, what? 15 minutes to write this? Surely 15 minutes a week of a dev outlining things they’ll be working on isn’t too much to ask for. Let’s be generous and say 1 hour every two weeks devoted to each game mode. That’d be great. Hey, we even have a forum for that every Friday at noon. But hey, when’s the last time the stream on Friday has been about WvW? Has to be a few months ago by now. I’d absolutely hate to see a company which I work for lose customers because they’re unwilling to address their customers.

I’m sure I forgot some things, but hey! It’s not like this thread will be responded to by a dev anyways. I’d offer to eat my hat if they did, but I know one of them will pop in just to spite me.

Anet’s communication policy will practically ensure we’ll get an overhaul based on their vague interpretation of what the players want.

Anet reads the forums, but do not directly engage. Without asking for reasons behind a suggestion or criticism you are trying to fix an issue with limited understanding. You have as much chance at fixing the issue as you have of not fixing it at all or making it worse.

As a direct result of this policy Anet doesn’t really release anything to the publikittenil the core is firmly set in stone. The beta weekends for the Desert BLs is a good example of this. Many of the issues raised then caused people to sour on the BLs with no changes made. Not that meaningful changes were possible at that point; the so-called Beta weekends were stress tests at best, or publicity events at worst.

Part of the problem is that the Forums are poisoned waters. You can not have meaningful engagement when one person on said forums , just as example, claims class XXX overpowered as another claims it pointless to play because “Anet has nerfed it”. This happens in virtually every single profession forum. People that champion one very specific change to a trait or skill will claim ANET does not listen if that skill not implemented even as ANET implements a dozen others the players asked for.

In WvW there very much the same thing with groups that hate the point aspects of the game and wanting more fighting, others insisting it cater to GvG battles while another faction prefers the PPK. We have guys people that want to break up the blobs and others insist that blob fights the way to go. We have people who do not want points to accrue on “off hours” while the peoeple that play the game “off hours” ask why they being ignored.

Under such conditions it very difficult to “engage the player base”

It can certainly be done in a better manner than it is today but it certainly not that easy a thing to do. Ultimately ANET has to make game change decisions and not individual players and no matter what changes they make, there will be people on the boards that do not like them.

To be fair to the English language, it is in no way difficult to engage the player base. Talking and writing are the easiest ways to do so, and neither is happening. In every one of the instances you mentioned about overpowered classes, underpowered classes, etc, a dev could quite easily nip everything in the bud and say “We’re aware of potential imbalances with such and such a build and we’re looking into it, we might not change it if we don’t find it to be too over/underpowered.” Simple. Effective. Nobody can complain that they’re not being heard, just that maybe their point is not getting across to the devs. If the devs actually wrote things like this, to claim a class is over- or underpowered, you’d need proof that you’re doing less damage, less sustainable, etc. At the moment, people have gotten lazy with their criticisms because there is a (reasonable) assumption that Anet is not listening.

Now, moving to the WvW portion of your post, nobody actually insists on strictly GvG fights, do they? GvGers simply wanted a place to go where they could conduct themselves according to their own rules. If you mean GvG as in guilds fighting each other open field, they simply want a lesser impact from siege camping individuals inside towers and whatnot. Today, for example, we could get nothing done anywhere near SM because a few people were sitting on cannons that could reach further than we’d ever dream to siege. We couldn’t fight things because we were always in cannon range. The blob or non-blob argument has been and always will be there, and there’s really no way around it. The nature of a map means that one of the two tactics will be superior depending on how it’s implemented. I’ve seen numerous smaller groups taking camps and towers, contributing to ppt while also fighting other small groups and picking off players from large zergs.

Also, I think you mean PPT. PPK is something which has been welcomed by pretty much any fights-oriented player that I know.

Tl;dr: Anet’s lack of communication is not the result of toxic forums. Toxic forums and lazy posts are the result of poor communication. It could be easily fixed if the right people decided to fix it. I’m waiting for the Anet employee to finally break and write a tell-all about the ins and outs of the tyrannical forum monitoring team vetting and preventing any meaningful post.

This post is stickied at the top of the forum. It spells out exactly the areas they plan on addressing in the WvW update (population balance, scoring, player rewards). These have been identified as the core problems with WvW by many posts over the last 3 years, as well as the CDI threads a year ago.

Do you want Anet to consult with this forum at every step of the re-design process? Or would you rather have them do the job they’re paid to do, which is to design a better game product, and then put the changes out to the playerbase and adjust them based on feedback after the fact?

This post is from 5 months ago. There is nothing concrete here. There isn’t even any specific suggestion of what might be done. I’m not saying I want daily updates about what can or should be done, but I want something like “Here’s a specific thing we’re thinking of implementing. How would we all feel about this”

For EotM, they had guilds come in and try things, but they did so too long after the development of EotM that nothing could really be changed. I want us, the community, to be consulted early enough in the process that any major change is properly thought through by players who actually care about the game mode. I don’t want another dragon banner situation because nobody thought through how creative WvW players can be with abusing things. I don’t want another golem week. I don’t want broken wvw.

They patched dragon banners, are you still upset about them?

Seriously, I don’t know what you are expecting here. Anet is the designer of a product. They designed a product. It has some flaws. We (the customer) have made it very clear what those flaws are. It isn’t incumbent upon us to re-design Anet’s game for them, we just make our feedback clear and then it’s on Anet to come up with the better design.

Have you been playing WvW long? It’s been terrible decision followed by a 3-4 month disaster zone in wvw, followed by an attempt to clean things up. My point isn’t that Anet should fix terribly implemented decisions like banners, it’s that banners were a bad idea in the first place. Why should we have to wait the 3 or 4 months it took Anet to fix dragon banners when we could have simply avoided the entire fiasco.

Furthermore, it had been made quite clear that we must re-design Anet’s game for them because when we don’t, we get things like golem week and dragon banners. I don’t know what could be more clear about this. The WvW community would be more than willing to try any potential changes or maybe just look over some ideas being had about changes. Instead, we’re left with 4 months of a final product that we put up with, abuse and hopefully troll Anet with enough that someone actually does something to change the implemented idea. For example, I know of guilds that made and geared mesmers to troll guilds with known Anet employees in them simply so that someone at Anet would actually do something about dragon banners. I’m not saying these people are the reason for the changes to dragon banners, but it seems awfully coincidental that the trolling commences and a change is rushed through.

Didn’t Anet say that in the future they’d consult with the community a little more about changes to WvW? I seem to recall they either said they’d do this or the community suggesting that they should…

And yet, this most recent “WvW resurgence” comment from the Guild Chat stream has me wondering what’s going on with that. Colin says the team is closer to getting to a place where they can talk about the changes, but here we are, unknowing of most of the changes.

Just let us know… Let us give feedback and try to listen to that feedback… It makes the development process much more successful because you know what is and is not wanted.

Feedback: The balance is kitten. I grade papers for a living. This felt like the beginnings of a paper that might have been good, but it wasn’t fleshed out enough. Consequences weren’t thought out. Nerfing alacrity means you have to rebalance other things to accompany that. Reducing the cooldown of corrupt boon means we should maybe consider reducing the duration of the poison applied with it. Etc

There are actually quite a few changes have people actually read the patch notes?

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-January-26-2016/first#post5946360

No, we came to complain without reading any of the things we were complaining about. /endsarcasm

The changes that were made aren’t innately terrible, we’ll see how they play out, but some seem poorly thought out and other things seem to be missing. When you tell a playerbase that they will only get 3 or 4 balance patches per year, we expect something substantial. This amount of change would be good if in the next month or two we were to see another similarly sized change. However, for the time between each patch we’re not seeing enough balance to assume that the game has a clear and proper direction with its balance updates.

I think we can all agree with the disappointment that was today. When Ruby and co said that there were more balance changes which they wouldn’t address, I expected at least 4 which weren’t mentioned per profession, not just 1 or 2… For mesmer the only unexpected changes were to mistrust and feedback…

It’s advertising – it’s not meant to be realistic.
That face cream will not make you look younger, that car will not make you cool and you will not win the lottery. Soz.

Advertising is meant to make us excited about the product. The face cream makes us excited about looking younger. The car makes us excited about looking cool. The lottery makes us excited about the possibility of winning. It’s not meant to look realistic, sure, but it’s definitely meant to look more interesting than what I’m seeing in the Anet adverts. 3 guys standing on a bridge casting fireballs at each other? “Massive WvW battles” are advertised alongside a video of 6 players fighting in WvW… Who made that decision.
