For me personally character bound will make GW2 much more short lived than it should be, and i think im not alone in this boat.
If you want to make something character bound, make titles character bound, those are considered fluff that you need to grind for, but make actuall skills (functionality) shared among all your characters. Isnt that how its supposed to be? Isnt that what GW2 is supposed to be about?

Hmm… good point. Perhaps ascended skins then that don’t provide a stat boost? That’s a grey area… the marginal stat boost is what compels so many people to chase them in the first place. I don’t know… as long as they keep the stat boost as marginal as the current items are I don’t think it would be a real issue (I won’t rule out an imagined issue). One thought may be to have ascended weapons be identical in stats to exotics but have the extra utility infusion slot. People would go for those for that utility slot alone. It would also take away the need to upgrade legendary weapons (which they could add an infusion slot… or two… to).
Actually thats also not bad idea, have ascended gear have utility slots that dont add stats but some other benefits.
The issue with gear is largely imagined by community. Its also somewhat understandable – if you have a choice to take someone in exotics or someone in ascended who will you take in your group?
Same thing happened in relatively new MMO i played (just as example as its issue with any gear based game), not month after release community started to cite “you need x gear for that content” and, since we did it in much less powerful gear it was fact you dont need x gear, but nevertheless it was “required”. And required where it posed a biggest problem – PUGs. You could crusade against that “requirement” but it still persisted.
Ascended was totally unneeded thing, now nobody is satisfied, some that they cant get it just by grinding fractals and some that had no desire for new tier of gear (that is unnecessary as theres absolutely no need for raised stats). Its lose-lose proposition.

I think the core issue with ascended gear is that it’s not available through crafting professions, dungeons or WvW. I doubt there would be half the complaints if all of the ascended pieces weren’t only available from very specific PvE content and the only other option to get them was just stupid.
And since some random Joe is gonna come here and complain about non constructive whining, here’s some suggestions:
- Add Ascended to craftables NOW. Not after 5 months.
- Add Ascended accessories to dungeons. Amulet 500 tokens, Backpiece 500 tokens, rings 250 tokens/one and earrings 200 tokens/one seems like pretty fair conversion rate.
- Add Ascended accessories to WvW NOW. Not soon™. (Okay, this might be covered by March patch). Also don’t make the badge prices stupid.
- Add Ascended items to world drops.
- Make Ascended items always be account bound so I can at least use the same piece on all my characters instead of having to grind a year (yes, I acctually counted) to get all my characters ONE stat set.
- Give me the ability to do daily and earn laurel with all my lvl x+ toons. Make it so that anyone can do one daily/account. But if you have 5 lvl 80s you can earn a laurel with each of them. There’s no reason why gearing up multiple toons should take more time than gearing up one. (Do note that I’m still willing to work 5x more than a person with only one character.)
- Decide and make a very public announcement of what you want from your game. Before release you gave the impression that maxing stats was easy and progression would mainly be about pretty skins. Now you have added ascended that has higher stats than other types of gear, yet you haven’t added any MF recipe pretty skins.

It will come down to either make ascended items a bit longer to acquire than exotics (which defeats their purpose) or be “left behind” (whether justified or not).
Its still not much of a problem with only trinkets, but with whole set…it will be. So to save you and us of all the problems of gear progression….just stop it while it hasnt escalated too far to be repairable. Agony is quite enough as “progression” and infusions should use regular upgrade slots – have stats as best upgrade+agony)

My 2 cents:
As a small guild put an advertisment “want to join larger guild for guild missions ONLY”
You get to do missions, get rewards and can work towards your guild achieveing your own goals in time. I dont think that any decent guild will refuse that.
Now, sheer costs and prerequisites can be discussed (and should) and IMO for 1st tier it should be lowered considerably. You can still make it time intensive so it takes a lot of time to research it all (with an option to speed it up with influence and THAT is what infuence cost should be used for).
2nd, ive seen few “small guilders” say that they dont want to recruit “childish mean people” but, believe or not, not everyone out there is “childish mean people” i find it just as an excuse to not have to do anything with anyone out there ever.
As much as i have been loud in other games against funneling people to raids, putting good stuff/development in raids only and that all playstyles (solo to raider) should have access to same rewards, simple socialization and finding good people out there is pretty much one of the pillars of MMO. Want to get influence faster? Recruit more good people. Yah, it requires some effort.

As title says, runes that drop are soulbound, so green drop is worthless to lvl80 character, but some alt might like it. is there any reason to make those soulbound instead account bound? Why not make them account bound? Also considering sigils are not bound at all.

That UI is for US Tax, VAT is added into the price. We pay 20% on all transactions from Europe.
I think you ment “Eurpean Union” since not whole Europe is in European Union.
Im in Europe and not in European Union for a short while yet, and i know for certain theres 0 taxes for digital goods (transactions) in my country.
Granted i still pay for GW2/gems in $ and in that way its OK, but for services like Steam i have to pay non-existing taxes, funny, i get 0 refunds so literaly they charge me 20% (or) more than they should.
But i agree that people that pay in Euros should get like 850 gems for 10, it would seems fair.

Easy fix: make points tick for 1/10 during the night for the server designated zone. Since servers are NA and EURO its very easy to establish what “night” is (something 1am-13 CET on Euro servers and a bit looser on NA servers with east-west coast time difference

WARNING: LONG POST, but worth it. see TL;DR for major points
TL;DR:1. Commander is an absolute mess
2. The roles/rewards/recognition of Guilds in a game called ‘Guild Wars’ is lacking
3. WvW has devolved into ZvZ (ZergvZerg)
4. The lack of Rewards/Progression/Depth/Consequence
5. The devs, their implementation of and lack of commitment to Wvw
1. Yes, commander for Wv3 should be earned in Wv3, especially with very low rewards form Wv3 opposed to anything in PvE getting 100g is exponentionally harder in Wv3. Though its not that big a deal, you soon learn who bad commaders are and community will judge.
2. While there might be some more recogntion for guilds, more rewards – no. Its server effort, not guild effort, and you might look up after what “Guild wars” was named after.
Better grouping options/bigger groups are pretty valid request, think that 4 groups/5 people would be sufficient (basically raid group)
3. Basically what you are saying that zergs learned some stuff and aint headless chicken or loot pinata they used to be. I think thats a good thing. Theres still places for smaller groups, but if you expect that 5 man group somehow “outmanuvers” 50 man group of same/similar skill, it aint happening.
4. Anything that gives power the longer you play is out of question really. Progression can be implemented but devs have to be VERY careful about how they go around that. Having unattainable advnatage over other players just because you played for 1 year is a big no no.
And as far as i see it, Wv3 was never designed to be some ultra deep RvR like EvE but fast paced action where you can jump in a and out without much trouble, objective trade ownership relatively easily and again fast paced, maps are decent size and it doesnt take forever to get somewhere….. It does that wonderfully.
Oh, and Wv3 rewards need to be increased drastically, disparity with PvE isnt even funny as we are looking at 10-20 times bigger rewards for PvE. That just isnt right.
5. Im all for more commitment, but i also want changes/additions to be good and really add to the fun instead of some rushed low quality stuff. I played SWTOR and their implementation of “faction conflict” was abysmal, they reworked it withing 2 months and they made it even worse, then after 3 months it has been completely removed and still nothing on the horizon regarding that. Really dont want to see that kind of stuff here again.

Mesmer or Ele. Both are useful for 100% of things in WvWvW. Its just a matter what kind of style and type you prefer.
Take both classes for a spin and just see which clicks better with you.

This thread depresses me.
Coming from WOW, Rift, LOTRO (among others) GW2 is a breath of fresh air, no competition for mobs, no ‘camping’ due to horrendously long respawn times, no arguments over who did 90% damage and should therefore get a higher proportion of mobs drops, etc. Who cares if someone strikes ‘your mob’, there is no kill stealing to worry about?
Now, many in this thread are asking for GW2 to become a game just like those, full of selfish people who view everyone else as competition.
And Astralporing is one who seems to want to open the Pandora’s box of “who contributed” to a kill: please don’t, this game is far, far better for none of this “I did more than him” nonsense, LOTRO is awash with that sort of rubbish post-‘Open Tapping’.
Why? Why, people? Why do you want GW2 to descend to the depths of WOW when it comes to ‘community spirit’?

Open tapping in LOTRO was best thing that they did for the game since launch (along with auto loot – something that DEFINATELY has to come to WvW) and im happy that they applied it to whole game now.
And, just for a reference – “zerg” IS a group, if you missuse or have some different definition for “group” than established and accepted one…well…it doesnt really matter.
You are still forced into groups in dungeons, so you do have your group exclusive content, please leave Open world as varied as possible so anyone can enjoy content without being forced into anything.

I actually am a bit concerned that a lot of “last minute” transfers might happen and you wont know what you “got” until few days later.
They did say though that moving to low pop server will be cheap (they could provide “targeted” transfers to low pop servers for free in the future), and moving to high pop costly (no price tags yet though).
Guess will have to wait and see…
