I am against inspect- it is no-one’s business what gear I choose to run with my build, it works for me and that is all that matters.
If you want to exclude me because of my build- I’m better off not playing with you.

I ask people about their gear if I like the look of it and have started many cool conversations that way or by people asking me about my gear.
Some have even made it to my friends list

I agree with you in that I really don’t want to see numbers, it just makes me tired

I am not sure how a no number philosophy can be implemented with so many players who really like watching those numbers.

Marnick’s idea of a system similar to hearts that give you options but with a bar that fills up instead of numbers is really good I think.
Add to that the fact that from Feb we get to choose- those ideas together would make a good system, at least to me.

While I have no problem completing the dailies quickly, for the first time now, I do watch the numbers and it does get repetitive.
I have never felt like this before at all.

I hate repeating something just for the sake of getting it done x times and avoid it in my regular play at all costs.
By all means, hide the numbers

I love them and I keep a few on most of my characters-
I love dropping the harpy pheromones on random people in LA :P
I just really wish we had a bar above our skill bar for them because I often forget about the seed pods etc in my backpack.

I would pay real money for some of the Norn female hair.
Humans could really use more long hair, curls, braids etc etc
and colours- I need an engi with blue dreadlocks :P

I agree the game is very busy, I see people claiming it is empty but this is just not my experience at all.

OT I would be very interested to know if this rumor about an expansion is true, since I recall the Dev’s mentioning that they will not be bringing out paid expansions with the frequency of GW but rather keep rolling out new content continually.

I also seem to recall that someone said somewhere they were not even working on an expansion yet?

well- let’s see.
If you want to see what a profession would be like at max level, take it into the mists where you will be 80 with all your skills and traits unlocked.
You can play around with various builds to see what works for you.
Just swapping the weapon set makes a huge difference in how classes play.

Keep in mind that you will mostly not be using a standard rotation, since the combat in GW2 is more situational and you have the freedom to switch mid-fight to whatever is working best in any given scenario.

Most classes fit most play styles however -if you like being active a thief, elementalist and a mesmer may work out for you.
With an elementalist it is all about swapping attunements to get the most out of a fight- it takes getting used to and is very different from your classic caster archetype.
A thief is very quick and sneaky and positioning is everything.
A mesmer works by denial and control. It is awesome for keeping enemies away from yourself but be aware that you will need to “play piano” and switch weapons constantly.

My suggestion would be just to make 5 characters take them into the mists and see how they work out for you.

here is a very old one that I have always loved

So far I haven’t encountered any of this nonsense.
It is so easy to get multiple dailies at once doing events that it is just not an issue.
On my server people seem to party more in order to do their dailies so everyone gets what they need.
There is generally a lot of joking on map chat/say about dailies and people calling out to others in order to help- it has actually really been fun.

That said I res all and kill all..and take over camps alone to get my dodge ;P

I am also wondering about this since my guild consists of me and my husband.
It would be awesome if you can scale content like you could the Tixx toyshop- we had no problem 2 manning it and it was awesome.
I’m guessing a 2 people guild are just to small and this is more to address content for more players a-la raid type content.

or you can always craft yourself some MF weapons for the skins- those are the best looking in the game mostly and some of them will take you ages to craft in terms of materials.

If there is ever a level cap raise, it will be part of a paid expansion not a free update.
That said I really really hope they reconsider and keep level cap at 80.

Try guesting on Gunnar’s Hold (EU)- it is a very active PvE server with a great community

I don’t think it is content in terms of what you are thinking of- but more in the line of polishing the existing content balancing and some changes to how the open world plays. As well as fixes and expansion of wvwvw and pvp.
This is great as far as I’m concerned and I would much rather they do this now before releasing even more content.

I love the fact that there are no healers, or DPS or tanks for that matter.

Far from making combat homogeneous it creates depth by adaptation.
Every encounter is different and the professions are varied enough so that players can choose their own roles and be fairly self sufficient- I love this.

Healing is not the be all and end all in this game- as someone else said it is what you do when you are already losing.

Take my engi for e.g. she is built around power/precision and when I solo I take whatever down as fast as I can and hardly ever need to heal.

When I am in a group event I have time to look at the situation and I often switch to support if I see things are going badly- laying on AOE poisons, burns, blinds, heals and buffs.
The fact that I can do this with one character without respec / reskill is awesome to me.
why on earth would i want to stand at the back and spam heal or worse stand in the fire and expect some one else to heal me?

It is a fairly rare openworld dungeon with an underwater boss, lots of puzzles involving fire and water and it is in Ascalon.

Anyone check this out with an 80?
I did it when I was about 50 or so but not since.
Is it worth a shot to check out? I will have to get a party together since it can’t be solo’d

I chime in as a woman as well.
Get her the game if you want and leave her alone to check it out.
If you live together play BF3 or something and leave her alone.
If she has questions she can ask but let her make her own choices- she will be much happier and the game is very friendly to new comers- she might prefer to ask ingame for help until she gets the hang of things
My husband got me the game back in beta for my birthday,- my present was 2 accounts- one for him and one for me.
I have played much more than him but hey at least I got him playing :P

So while tossing Karma vendor junk into the MF and out pops a (I’d later find out!) precursor that my toon could not use. Not knowing what I had I just tossed it back in.

When I first started was close to the winter event. My first good drop in game was the Endless tonic, that netted me 20g ish. At the time I was still new and didn’t understand how much 20g was game wise. People said unidentified dyes could open into dyes worth tons of gold. So I bet you can’t guess where 15 g went…. The other 5 I used on a full gear set, every slot at the time. Since then thankfully I have become wiser, and have my nice warrior set and decent Thief set skinned with the krytan skin. If I could go back and slap the kitten out of myself, I surely would. And I would have spent that 20g on 80 gear, full runes, and probably enough crafting to get me at least 10 or 20 levels :P

Yes it transfers all your characters.
He can’t hop servers because of wvwvw, he can however guest on another server for free and do any content apart from wvwvw.

Another event that comes to mind is the one at the little house in the swamp in Queensdale with the book and the necro- I don’t know how many 80’s actually do that at all and the creature is a sort of flying demon thingy

I would have to say that if the game is only 3 days old, just create a toon an a different server. You couldn’t have possibly gotten too far in the game.

All your characters are bound to your home server- you cannot create alts on a different server.

what you can try while earning gold to transfer is to guest for free on other servers- this will allow you to find one you like and when you are ready you can go

No I don’t repair enough for it to matter and my gear is always the best- even on my alts that are between 47 and 58.
I keep it updated/runes/sigils and transmuted, so whatever I spend once in a blue moon to repair is nothing.

Incidentally I can never have too many trans-stones ;P

Dodge: take an Harathi camp- dodge the instant spams that swamp you.
Underwater kills: jump in at Beetletun and Kill Baracudas.
Res: also at Beetletun- res the fishers- if you are still short go on the route to Claypool and res the villagers littering the whole road.
Vets: All events get called on the map constantly.
etc etc.

Queensdale is very fun these days and it is the main place to just hang out, chat and do events, dailies it is a blast

I leveled crafting along with my main and I was totally broke until I figured this out:

Gather everything. sell the mats you don’t need, buy the ones you do.
buy only the cheapest fine materials and use discovery to make them count.

salvage all whites, vendor blues and greens for extra money.
anything higher see if it sells on the TP- if not vendor/ salvage.

map completion of an area gives you crafting mats.

I hope this helps you- I have managed to level all my crafts with my characters and I find it really rewarding.

That is nice but like the Nightmare staff it is a bit ornate for me at least for my characters.

I like more classic looking weapons on them but with a slight particle effect if any.
I love the plain old Krytan Staff for instance and I use it on my Ele- the tiny light looks like a little lantern to me

I used the Glyphic Staff for ages on my Human Mesmer before I got Imryldeen.

I would love more variety in style on all the weapons actually, different themes are always nice

As long as your character is 80 it can drop anywhere as far as I understand it- since rewards scale to your level. I get better loot in lower level areas on my 80 than in Orr for example- but she is cursed with bad luck anyway.

Awww I have really no idea about this staff anymore- I like the mystery and all, I just can’t believe that it has not been found yet- it must be super super rare or we are all just looking in the wrong places, which I find rather hard to believe since some of the theories are very good.

And you get more influence if you play with other guildies?
This game is about co-operation, it is part of the basic design of the game.

I have no idea- I met a player with Deathwish and asked where he got it and he said Shadow Behemoth- I didn’t even think not to believe him, why would he lie?

And that is your choice and your playstyle- please understand that many of us would pay any money for our own housing even instanced.

I would love my own space- just to have some down time in and maybe hang with some friends.
It doesn’t need crafting benches, bank and TP access- that is what cities are for.
But I would really love it if we can customize it and open up new crafts for it.

I understand the problem with open world houses but having players actually be able to see your house and enter it would be so awesome.- Maybe instanced neighborhoods?
Either in the cities or out in the world like our personal stories are currently?
That way you can still have a sense of community without cluttering up the landscape.

I assume that grenth has a staff. But im going to be going and doing every meta event in the game. A friend brought up an interesting point. Unique named chest have unique loot tables. Why would they need unique loot tables? They probably drop a special item. All of the confirmed drops from bosses have shown to have unique named chest, so im going to do every meta even in the game in the following week and catalog which ones have a unique chest at the end.

rez stuff that couldn’t dodge

gather materials to craft with

this- also the whole point of the new dailies were to get people out of LA LFG and into the world- this seems to be working as intended because I see hordes of people out and about actually playing the game.

I can’t believe the negativity surrounding new dailies- they are all part of my regular game- even dancing :P

I am starting to believe that if Anet sent everyone precursors in the mail- some people will complain that they didn’t get the right one- yeesh

No, just the gift of exploration that you need to make Gift of Mastery.
You will need a great many things to make the Bifrost- Just check out that recipe.

To make it in the forge you will need several Gifts made up of different things- once you have all the gifts you combine them in the forge together with the precursor which will give you the Bifrost- at least that is how I understand it- Not having a legendary myself.

Everything in the laurel merchant is essentially worthless other than the Ascended amulets/rings.

In fact, the only other things in the laurel merchant that might be worth buying are the coin/karma boosters since they are cheap.

But everything? Utter junk. 3 random mats? 2 profession specific items (rare and exotic)? None of these are worth the laurels. It just seems that the laurel vendor is a vehicle to sell you ascended equipment.

That is really funny because the only things I am not interested in are the rings/amulets.
I guess players are different and attach importance to different things- and no, I do not have ascended items yet because I don’t do dungeons- when I have all the other cool things I want, I might consider getting them for laurels.

I love the fact that at least now I have an option to get it if I wanted- before I was just left out.
Hopefully later today I will have 5 laurels and then I’m getting me some dyes! whoo- hoo
