I be that if any normal person did find it and knew what it was , they are probably trying to save up enough money to post it on the tp and keeping their mouth shut about where it drops and just farming that spot. Lets face it the majority of players probably have less than 50 gold to their names. I know if I found it and was gonna sell it , I would have trouble getting enough money to list the kitten thing.

hahahah! that would just kill me- thought about it myself

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Morrigan.2809

Both, I play as much as I can- may be an 1-2, more on weekends.
I post when I can’t play.

I don’t really agree with players who no longer play hanging around the forums- sure there are some who really just want to make the game better but the most vicious posts often come from non- players.
Since you are no longer playing the game I don’t really think your opinion is relevant to the players/ game.
The people who actually do play should be the ones to give input in how to improve the game.
That you spend money to buy it is not really relevant either- I’ve spend loads on games I no longer play and I sure as kitten don’t hang out on their forums and tell them about it.

haha I thought the Vigil were the comic relief of the story,
Pick the race you are drawn to all the stories that I have done are cool, in their own way.
As for classes my most fun class bar none is a mesmer- I have 2
Ele is also fun but it is even more high maintenance than the mesmer
Engineer I have found a lot of fun and I have found it very versatile and very survivable, but that may be because I play my engi like an ele.
as for races I was completely biased on humans until I rolled my second mesmer as a sylvari- so you really just have to try the races before you decide

Its not from fratcals… This weapon was in the game (Well… Lootables) before fractals came out. People were searching for it before the update

I can confirm it is in fact from Fractals. I had found mine in the reward chest for completing the Urban Battlegrounds Fractals. There’s absolutely no reason Anet would make this one particular exotic mind numbingly hard to get.

Pics or it didn’t happen :P
Seriously if it is in Fractals- which I doubt very much- I will be really really disappointed.
The hunt for this staff has been going on since the game launched, yet no word of it in PvE.
Everything suggests that it is very rare and from a specific chest/boss.
Shadow Behemoth sounds like a good bet to me too atm- that event was very rarely done because it was bugged for ages and I know that you can get lvl80 drops from the chest at least.

Deleted my warrior and made an engi- yay!
Great decision- no really

Why you trollin’?

I’m about to delete my engineer and roll a warrior if engineers get another nerf next patch and warriors get another buff as expected.

It’s not as much fun as you think to have all these cool engi toys and kits when none of them come close to what other classes can do without juggling 4 kits for all their good abilities.

I really wasn’t trolling- I did delete my warrior for and engi and I love how engi plays.
I am not bothered by class nerfs because my main is a mesmer, so for me it is all about whether I find the class mechanic fun.
I hated warrior and guardian, they are powerful but really boring to me.
I love ele, engi and mesmer though
OT I do not think warriors are that OP and it is always a bad idea to nerf a class that works well for what it is. A much better idea would be to develop the other classes so that each plays in a well rounded unique manner.

I just want to share something that happened to me recently- I have been leveling alts so I’m playing in Queensdale and Wayfarer Foothills.
I did Shadow Behemoth and Maw and both times the players where sharing greens that drop- the reason they did this was so that we can swap it out among ourselves-

It was really awesome to see- the entire chat was filled with: who wants this- can I have that- do you want etc.
It was a really nice experience because these were new players and they were enjoying themselves and sharing their loot among everyone who made the kill.

Try a staff with your GS as a mesmer.
Chaos storm is an awesome defence as well as offense- if you drop it on yourself and hit nr two you will get out of range so you can swap to GS, the combo will give you chaos armour.
Nr 2 staff also pops a clone to take aggro away from you.
With a GS/ staff you can have max clones up very easily to use for shatter damage, both phantasms do a lot of damage as well.

I play a GS/ staff Mesmer as a main and she is great at surviving and getting out of sticky situations

Now, one interesting question occured to me:

Why don’t they simply split the skills on PvE and PvP version? At least then you’d be able to play 33% of content normally(Hey it’s better than 0%).

I have wondered this for a while now because I play a main mesmer in PvE and have had to adapt to many changes to my class because of complaints in PvP

As for the AOE nerf, I also have a staff ele and an enigineer…..
What I want to know is how on earth are we supposed to kill multiple mobs in your face in PvE without effective AOE? I thought that was it’s purpose?

@ Leo Paul: you really need to stop talking down to people, your view is not gospel.

I ask again, what is wrong with themed arenas in the main cities?
The fact that the PvP crowd is against it, just proves the fact that they like : a little danger" and a “little thrill”

Next step you have 80’s camping Queensdale for a little thrill.
People who beg for PvP in open world are mostly bored, with very view exceptions.
How exactly do you think this will turn out for new players?

Get over the fact that this game was designed to be co-op, no amount of name calling will change it.

LOL!!!! “If I am doing this, and you are doing that, then we might be doing the same thing.”

It helps to comprehend the entirety of my point (instead of taking replies out of context). Your selective attention is demeaning. I actually suggested that allowing duels in out-of-combat areas in PvE (such as the major cities and camps, although if we want to duel underwater, we should be allowed that too) as a good option for those who dislike the idea of dueling anywhere unrestricted.

My point is that a compromise can be made. I want dueling to be available, allowing me the liberty to fight someone of another race and assume dominance as per my toon’s human supremacist role play (via exclusively racial skill skirmishes) for example. I was addressing those people who would rather not have the feature at all that hasn’t provided any valid argument yet.

It seem to me that you are confusing dueling with PK. Having the option to duel doesn’t diminish the co-op nature of the game, PK does. What cataclysmic event will an option to duel someone bring really? Unwanted whispers? OMG I declined a request for a duel and now he is going to badger me about it! The world is going to end. Let’s panic. You generalize duelists with negativity senselessly.

*ALSO, most games that have duels doesn’t end with the losing player punished with exp loss or whatever. The duel just ends with the declaration of the winner. The loser only suffers a blow to his ego as the consequence. I’m sure he’ll recover.

Actually, I apologize because I picked on you for some reason when I wasn’t even replying to you- sorry about that, late night

I do think that dueling will bring an element of PK to the game.
So far the resistance to dedicated arenas indicate this to me- one poster even reasoned that the waypoint cost would be too much, that is why he wants open world PvP
I get you wanting to fight other races sure- I would like to fight other classes since my main is a Mesmer and I’m pretty sure I can take anyone 1 on 1.

I just really do not think open world PvP has a place in GW2.
Regardless of how mature many duelists are, there are just as many little trolls and they will crawl out of the woodwork just for this.

I think themed arenas in all the major cities- even with spectator option would be awesome. Kind of like the old style gladiators, with ranks etc- or not- I would support this 100%.
Just not in open world

Then stop acting like air heads?

I’m sorry but the overall bubbly fluffy “zomg this game is the best ever” while a subjective opinion, often doesn’t really lend itself to ACTUAL reasoning, and often is just tossed around with no rationalization. It’s totally fine to enjoy this game, heck is by no means a crime, but to keep acting as if it doesn’t have many issues that still need to be addressed and isn’t a “great game despite it’s flaws” as opposed to “da greatest game evarer” simply just doesn’t seem well… believable.

Considering I class myself in the “I would rather not have grind AT ALL or just the absolute minimum” camp I often find it humorous that players think I’m asking for vertical progression grinds of eliteness instead of just asking that players stop glossing over the problems because they either don’t affect them personally or they just fail to understand the issues.

No, you’re not airheads and I’m sorry if it comes across that way, but it’s VERY hard to take someone who seems completely oblivious to fairly significant issues seriously.

The argument that “rewards r bad mkay” is ludicrous as well, without progression or at least “aesthetic” progression which are fueled by “effort =/= reward” mechanics, it wouldn’t be a “game” at all… Everything is a reward in a game, be it simply “winning” the game or be it unlocking or obtaining a reward, it’s inherently PART of all game mechanics.

So if you want rewardless games, or games that are “their own reward” then I suggest a radical new idea in the line of entertainment, they’re called… “MOVIES” there’s even the interactive kind that gives you the illusion you’re IN THE MOVIE!!!! and looks JUST like a video game! WIN WIN WIN!

The biggest reward however is that we don’t end up resenting players for wanting the inherent mechanics of a game improved for the betterment of all at the detriment of some nonsensical notion that you’re “self entitled” for not feeling rewarded by badly designed content and loot tables etc.

But to add to this, I’d much rather there was more enjoyable repeatable content in this game that ya know, challenged and wasn’t riddled with flaws, but hopefully that will be implemented when GW2 is actually finished, as it was released unfinished and that’s always been apparent

oK I’ll try and reply to your points:
A lot of players who love the game are very aware of it’s flaws and have been making suggestions since the game launched on how to improve it.
The difference is that what we see as flaws are not the same as what you might see.
I also don’t think that those flaws are so glaring that it stops me enjoying the game.
As for best game ever ( your spelling is just condescending) To some people it is yes.

NO one said rewards in itself are bad ( one again your dialect is ridiculous) What is bad is expecting a reward for walking down the road and if one is not forthcoming saying “wherz my phat lootz?” ( see how that sounds?)
I am all for rewards- more skins, more fun stuff, hell even better gear- I don’t freak out if I don’t get it because I like playing the game for what it is.
Your whole WIn Win – movie statement makes no sense since the people you call lava- lamp watchers, wouldn’t care about winning, according to you.
As for you last two paragraphs those are entirely your opinion and this is also the kind of thing that led to Ascended gear, “making the game better for all” and look how that went down.
You need to accept that while this game does have issues- calling it inherently flawed because it does not work the way you want it to- is not really as universal as you would like to think.

The players in category A, would seemingly be happy if you handed them a lava lamp and told them to watch it.

If it were a beautiful lava lamp? Definitely, and I’m proud of that. Meanwhile, players in category B could be shown the Mona Lisa and would demand to be paid for viewing it (since they need a reward in order to enjoy something).

you said it
btw I am not easily amused, that is why I don’t own a TV
I think it is nonsense to keep equating people who play for fun with air-heads, while making gear/loot grinders out to be the be all and end all.

OT I have been leveling alts and I have found that I get much better loot drops than on my main. I would like for champs to always drop loot but mostly I am happy the way it is. I would just like it to be more consistent.

Dueling in?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Morrigan.2809

Morrigan.2809

Some of the arguments here are ridicilous.

“I don’t want to get spammed by duel-invitations.”
- Simple. Make a “auto-block duel request” button. And disable dueling inside of towns.

“But i don’t want to get forced to enable the “auto-block” button."
- Really? Wow.

“Duels in the open-world will cause visual pollution.”
- Duelists often choose areas to duel where the NPC count is low. And how is seeing people fighting each other in a mostly PvP-based game ‘visual pollution’?

Also, guys. As i said. GW2 is based on PvP. Why wouldn’t there be duels?

Knock knock, think for a second in that head of yours. Some of you “anti-dueling” people are having “first world problem”-issues on this subject. Meanwhile, for some people, adding dueling would mean everything to them. Don’t be selfish.

Wake up! The game is stale already, it would certainly be less-stale with duels for PvPers.

Whatever makes you think Gw2 is based on PvP- I guess that is why they spent 5 years developing a huge world to PvE in?

I would use a block botton if there is one- that won’t solve the problem of open world dueling in a game that is essentially designed around co-operation.
It won’t solve the problem of DE’s- where some people would rather duel the players than help with the actual objective.

I ask again what is wrong with having an arena to dual in?
The fact that everyone who wants to duel seems to ignore this suggestion makes me just think that the anti- duel faction has a very good point.

As for the game being stale- speak for yourself.
As for people not wanting dueling being selfish- what about people wanting dueling?
There are hosts of other games where you can do so- why must GW2 conform to every other game out there for you to be satisfied?

Some of these reasons against it are preposterous. Saddens me to think that the devs might actually take feedback from these people to heart.

It saddens me that you think that because their opinions are just as valid as yours.
I really don’t want PvE open world dueling.
I can understand that some people do though- I think a good compromise would be to add arenas themed to each major city with a spectator mode so that people can duel there and others can watch if they want to.
What exactly is the objection to this?

Rediscovery, GW2 amnesia :(

Morrigan.2809

I think it’s a relatively good thing, so experiencing the maps again won’t be boring

My theory is that 90% of the people that have gotten 100% of map exploration just bumrushed vistas pois and hearts as fast as possible. This of course doesn’t leave many memories and usually completing a map this way means that you have just seen, at best, 50% of what the map has to offer. Many, many little details don’t contribute to map completion. For example, to anyone who completed Queensdale, did you know that:
- There’s a graveyard with epitaphs you can read
- Some epitaphs refer to NPCs whose death is mentioned by other ( living ) NPCs, i.e. the husband of Orchard heart NPC
- The gravekeeper is pretty nuts
- At night, the place gets spooky and a DE involving a ghost starts.
- There’s a place with a great view, as the kids playing there note
- Underneath this place a kid in a cave says that he doesn’t play with his friends anymore because he used to play Snaff’s part ( lol )
- There’s a jumping puzzle
- Inside the windmill, in a small room in the highest floor, a cat keeps rolling on a bed ( o .o )
- Two kids are coercing their father to jump in a lake to prove his courage

I could go on

There is also a place above the dam, with an old lady and some kids playing. there is a tree-like house that goes up and up and at the top is a chest that can’t be opened- I have always wondered if that is for an event I have never been able to start.
I think this might actually be the place with the great view you are talking about since the kids mention it.

The game is full of awesome things if you take your time and look.
I find new things on every character I play.

What is the point of specializing if you are not limited in some way for doing it?

Yes I agree.
The whole point now with specialization is that you must choose which way you want your character to develop.

Dueling in?

What exactly is complicated about putting in a feature that allows two players to fight against each other?
Right click them, select duel, they are given an option to accept or decline, they accept, fight happens and fight ends.
Lord of the rings online has a dueling system. Lotro, which is a very…unique…game has this.

The problem with your right click to duel is exactly like Tosha says.

People who are not interested will be forever spammed.
Never-mind that I can just see a bunch of duelers spamming people trying to do events and not contributing at all.

Have duels in arenas- end of problem.

There is no reason for people who want duels to oppose arenas unless they of course want to run around the open world harassing other players. In which case I’d rather just not give them the opportunity.

What does LA stand for?

in Players Helping Players

LA is short for Lion’s Arch.
It is the hub city in Tyria and can be accessed by Asura Gate in all the Main Cities and the Mists.
No you don’t have to go there to level- just explore do Dynamic events, personal story, gather and craft if you want- you will level in no time.
Since you do PvP you can try leveling in WvWvW but I wouldn’t recommend it

Anti-ascended gear: What do you want?

I find the term “dedicated player” as used in this context insulting tbh.
I consider myself a dedicated player, I pre-purchased the game and have been playing it since the betas.
I have limited time to play because of RL but I do spend the free time I have playing GW2- I spend gems in the shop, I help new players and I try to contribute to the community.

Yet I never run dungeons because I can’t commit to the time required.

So by this definition, because I don’t chase a carrot in some instance I am not a dedicated player.

Ascended gear needs to be available for all if it is going to impact PvE world in any way.
Power creep is not fun and it is insulting to players who fall behind simply because they have lives.
My suggestion would still be to confine Ascended to FoTM and to let those who want to grind for bragging rights in FoTM do so.
There is no need for agony mechanic to ever make it’s way into general PvE- if it does, Ascended gear should be craft-able, exotics should be able to be converted and Ascended should drop from champs.

Champions are meant to be HARD.. as in too hard to solo, even if you do out-level them.

They’re meant to be fought by groups, that’s why all their events are labeled [GROUP EVENT]

But they should’nt be to hard for a group of CP’s the same level as the champ and we should be able to take more then 1-3 hits. I have only seen a champ go down because there where CP’s 10+ levels higher then it taking it down, can tell by the gear. I guess what this game needs is a healing class.

You can’t tell by the gear because you can kit a lvl 1 character like a lvl 80 if you had the Transmutation stones. :P
You will never have anyone more than 1-2 lvls higher taking a champ because you get down leveled to zone level.
The other day I was in Queesdale on my 80 when the Shadow Behemoth went up- so I went- why not?
I was level 9 or so for that event.
We were about 10 -20 people and many of them went down- I could res them and it was great fun.

The other day my same level 80 was in the vicinity when Claw of Jormag spawned.
So I went.
We were about 10-20 people and many went down often, we ressed eath other and it was great fun.
See how it goes?
Dying is not the same stigma in GW2 as in other games. You die- it happens. That is why we can res anyone, anytime.
