I would in a heartbeat. No, it’s not perfect, but it’s still the only game I play in the few hours a week I can spare to game.

This.
My husband will also get an expansion even though he is heavily into BF3
It is a fun game for us to play together.

anyone else bored with legendaries?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Morrigan.2809

I’m not tired of legendary’s but I only saw my first one yesterday- a thief with incinerator in Divinity’s Reach.
I followed her around like a puppy until she teleported away.
I must say though that the footsteps are a bit out of place on a thief.

I would like some diversity in the legendary skins, since many of them are very niche and not what many would expect of a legendary.

I do like the humour though, having a pistol shoot bubbles and flowers instead of some uber weapon of doom is cool, it is kind of like transmuting the wooden sword skin over your 80 exotic.

My main is a mesmer and we have exactly one AoE I know of and use- chaos storm.
I do have an engi and a staff ele but I am fine with it.
I have learned too adapt having a mesmer for a main :P
seriously though, they are looking at all AoEacross all classes, it is not a train smash.-

There are many real issues in this game with class balance (LOLBACKSTAB), reward systems, depth of combat, etc.

AOE was not one of those issues

ANet is behaving like the freaking politicians have been with the economy since 2009:
D’s – “Don’t pay attention to that pink slip you just got – The real problem is healthcare”
R’s – “Don’t pay attention to the fact you can’t find a job – The real problem is the national debt”

ANet – “Don’t pay attention to your porous bones and getting backstab-gibbed by thieves – the real problem is AOE!”

Analsysis of all the above:
Stupid
Stupid
and…
Stupid.

ANet needs to fix what’s actually wrong rather than inventing problems.

well I agree that AOE was not one of the issues we had, it is still being addressed now.

Since I don’t PvP I have no idea where this comes from, why we cannot seperate PvE and PvP I do not know

I just picked up a Logitech G600 and absolutely LOVE it. I find it incredibly comfortable (I have “piano fingers” and larger mice work better for me) and it offers a LOT of flexibility with keybinds. Thanks to this mouse, I’m able to activate my profession skills far more efficiently (attunement swapping is a breeze now). It’s a bit on the expensive for mice, but I found it well worth the investment.

http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/g600-mmo-gaming-mouse?crid=825

I have this one too and I adore it.
I have my F skills mapped to my thumb buttons and it made playing my ele an absolute pleasure.
I have very small hands funnily enough- so much so that I have trouble reaching buttons on my keyboard, so I even walk with my mouse.
I have no problems with this mouse whatsoever- it is wide but rather short so it fits me perfectly.
It is heavy though and took me couple of days to get used to since my wrist hurt for the first day or so from pushing all that weight around.

It is irresponsible and bad parenting to encourage and allow young children to play computer games.

wow judgmental much?
I think it is irresponsible to let your kid watch tv and be in child beauty pageants.

My daughter has had a pc since she was 2 and she taught herself how to read, as well as basic mathematics and physics by playing games
She is 5 now and yes she does play outside has a dog and two cats, draws a lot and reads books and wants to be a vet when she grows up.
She is just a normal kid.
Every parent knows their own kids best and you really have no cause to tell anybody how to parent their kids.

I realize that this is a very old post- but OP your granddaughter will love GW2- her way of playing will not be like that of a grown up.
As someone said- she will be a ranger for the pets, love vistas and generally running around looking at cool things in the game.
Rezzing people and npc’s will probably also be fun as well as harvesting.
Just keep an eye on her and help her out a bit if she needs it- turn her chat box off and she will be fine if she likes this kind of thing

I am really curious since games like Sacred (single player hack n slash) pretty much put me off mounts.
They were so much more trouble than they were worth, I just ditched mine by the side of the road eventually.
In GW2 you never see NPC’s mounted, you see many of them walking though- I like it it makes the world feel real to me- a guy just zipping by on his mount would take away from that I think.

You realize that the name is from the lore right?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lore

It has nothing to do with guild wars in the game

Yeah, why would you name the game after a central gameplay feature when you could name it after an obscure backstory element that is mentioned maybe twice in the entire game. A logical person might see the cause and effect as being the other way around.

I didn’t design this game- GvG is not a feature of GW2, no amount of logic changes that.
The whole game is pretty much designed around co-op so I don’t see it becoming a feature in open world ever.
Maybe when guild halls are in- as an instanced game mode but that is it.
I don’t think it is even a priority for the devs

This game isn’t about co-op, it is merely a shadow of co-op. This game revolves around zerg fest – with small groups (guilds mostly) being back bone in a zerg. They do most of the damage so get most of the items that drop from NPC’s and Players which leaves the rest of the zerg out in the cold – (no co-operation there for split spoils in helping in killing things or achieving a goal). The second half of this game is about camping areas and exploiting others. The 3rd aspect of the game is to run around solo or with 3 ppl (aka strike groups) to achieve your mission.

I have found the best fun in WvW was with 3 others because we were able to take supplies depot’s back and I would get some bags of loot from the kills, if I am in teh main force or zerg, I am not F’IN special enough to run with the elitist kittens that have their special commander group. In the end why do I want to help them if I am not getting anything out of it? I know I get some from taking castles and such, but I have seen the otherside as well. Main group looting bags left and right making tons of coin, while I get 1 or 3 every 30 minutes…don’t even cover my repair bills.

Co-op…this is a game based on which server has 24/7 players, you have a decent mix of West and Oceanic players to push, take and hold everything you have – and only giving what you actually don’t mind losing so you can take it right back when the main time frame force is on.

I understand what you are saying but I was talking about open world PvE in my post not wvwvw.
I haven’t actually played any wvwvw since the beta so I have no idea what that is like.

The OP wanted to have guild vs guild battles and I can’t see that happening outside of an instance.
I suppose you could say that wvwvw is sort of already like a guild vs guild in a very loose sense but it does not seem focused enough for me to be what the OP was talking about.

My 2 Cents on the Current Game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morrigan.2809

Morrigan.2809

I think a lot of people just “don’t get” the system of this game.

It’s quite clear there are support specializations and they differ from class to class.

Anyone who examines a classe’s trait lines can see what they would excel at if they want to do group support.

Some group-wide specializations which may or may not occur in combination:
- boon stripping
- hindering (slows, chills, knockbacks)
- projectile blocks/reflects
- jamming/combo breaking
- boon production
- condition removal

for instance:
a properly specced support mesmer can do boon stripping and projectile reflection (shutting down ranged as much as 75%) while still doing decent damage.

a 0/10/0/30/30 D/D ele or bunker-specced hammer guardian would good at boon production, healing, and jamming/combo breaking but suck at personal damage.

the list goes on and on.

if you leverage what is built-in to your profession in terms of group utility you will have much smoother runs than those who simply “build for soloing”

I agree with this.
OP the system in the game can be specialized, just because people don’t do it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I think that many people are so used to the trinity that they keep trying to reproduce it instead of looking how to make their classes unique with the system that this game does have.

I do find that we seem to get better rewards when in a party and of course you get more Guild Influence.
If you party with the same people a lot you learn how to play really well together and it makes the game so much more enjoyable.

On the other hand if I just want to roam and do my own thing, I can and I don’t have to put up with people who do not share my objectives.
This system is the best of both worlds really.
