I have also been on Gunnar’s Hold since the start and rarely do I see anything other than English- usually when I see another language I check and see that I am in overflow.
@ Jing- GH is a really cool server- at least I have always found it so- Markus is right you just need a few friends to play with.
I solo a lot and when I hit a map that seems empty usually a call in map chat fixes that asap.
Feel free to give me a pm in the game if you need someone to kick around with- if you don’t mind me going afk every now and then for family stuff
It is an awesome game- and while it is not perfect, I quickly find out how good it is and how much GW2 has spoiled me when I play other games. Even single player ones.
There is no such thing as the perfect game :P
@ Fyrebrand: Dude,that pic
I just reread your OP and there is no problem other than you feel you want 80 lvl loot for completing the event on any character.
So in effect you want loot/ectos/exotics and immersion has nothing to do with it.
People are offering you a workaround and yes it is a solution- it allows you to get what you want without taking time away from more important things to fix a non existent problem.
saying that re-logging causes a burden on Anet’s service is not a valid point considering that you want them to create a fix so that you can get loot- that you can get in any case.
What I read is send me a mail as I can’t be bothered to get the loot for a one min event on a relevant character, sorry if that sounds harsh but it is the truth.
There are enough real problems that need fixing, culling that does not seem to bother you comes to mind here
they ban you for swearing in a video game rofl what kind of person doesn’t swear in a video game? Like this is so stupid writing this makes me jiggle a little.
What kind of person swears in a video game?
on TS I can still understand it and even in whisper- I have said cr@p on occasion after a really humiliating death.
Swearing in map- chat is a no no in most games.
@ OP it is clearly against the rules and the filter is just there so others don’t have to see it- consider the 72 hour ban a warning and don’t do it again.
It has nothing to do with whether others do it or not- the fact is you must have been reported, hence the ban
I don’t need no stinking awards.
Give me some Bar Brawl.
Yes Yes! Bar Brawl!
I would love to take my Oh so elegant Mesmer to a Bar Brawl- the very idea makes me smile.
please add the mini games
It is not so much that your idea is bad- it is just just it seems unnecessary to me- every fix takes time and resources from Anet,
If you don’t want to break immersion and re-log on your 80 to do an event do it on what ever character you are on.
I do this all the time.
I am constantly leveling alts and I never go to zones just to hit world events . If I am in the zone, great, I do the event and go on with what I was doing.
you can also just buy dyes with laurels- that is what I do and it is enough to get my fix- I sell what I don’t want and use/buy the ones I want
Another mount discussion?
So please give me the coconuts and the sound effects and emoticons to go with it ;P
I love humans and 3 of my characters are humans- I made them purely because I like how human females look and I am one.
I made a sylvari and fell in love with them because of the dorky run the females do.
So I deleted my human thief and made a sylvari ranger…
To me it is all about how the look fits your character concept
I couldn’t care less about racial skills and all that at char creation
This is the first month I will get a monthly and in this month I did not have internet for 3 weeks due to moving house.
I didn’t get the previous monthlies because I don’t do dungeons or PvP- my choice entirely.
Complaining about a crafting monthly is just 0-0
It is even useful- I crafted a trinket set for one of my alts- boom- done.
To say that your progress is being blocked is a bit bizarre tbh.
I am not opposed to having a choice of monthlies like we do daylies but it is such an optional thing that I don’t understand why it is such a big deal to you.
It is also an achievement, which means that you have to do it to get the reward.
So if you want the laurels- go craft. If you hate crafting so much then leave it and see what your options are next month.
I completely fail to see how you can apply the word grind to crafting a few items.
I find dying funny as well, mostly because I die to the most random stuff.
I can kill a champ, but when I roam I get kitteny.
Oh and I can make this jump_______
No- if there was a skin I absolutely had to have, then yes.
As it stands I am much more likely to make a Mystic Forge weapon that actually suits my characters.
But I am not very goal oriented in the game so even that will take me a really long time- once I decide which one I want and for which character- looking for nice pistol skins atm- Illia and Lyss clash with the pink in my armour
How can you “lose your spot” by doing pre-events? If your on the server your on the server, you cant “lose” the spot unless you disconnect or change zones.
All I see in this thread is people complaining about how someone else choses to play the game. You have ZERO right to tell someone else how they should play. If someone wants to use clocks and/or camp thats up to them.
Instead of pointing fingers at other players and acting like spoiled children who dont get their own way, people should instead be complaining about the real problem; The lack of hardware infrastructure that requires the zones to overflow in the first place.
If the server could handel 10k people, it would not even be an issue. The fact that the GAME doesnt let everyone in to a zone event is the GAME at fault not other players.
It seems to me that you can indeed lose your spot- if you use a waypoint to another part of the zone.
At least this happened to me the other night in Frostgorge- I was doing map exploring and after about an hour I was put in overflow after using a waypoint- judging by the chat in the overflow there where about 15 people from my server in the same boat.
So I don’t know.
All I can say I have seen people not do the pre-events- whether they are too lazy or don’t want to lose their spots- thing is the pre-events don’t get done.
As for telling people how to play? I have never done that- I think it is silly to run like lemmings after phat lootz but hey- that is up to you.
You can’t tell me that sitting in one spot for 30 min to auto attack for a min is playing a game though- at least not to me.
I don’t care what you do- I would like to play on my own server though and I would like to do world events that are fun again but that is just me.
This is a good fix- something needed to be done and fast.
This will stop the insane farming.
Kudo’sFarming is bad .. how?
Oh wait, because YOU can’t do it, no one should. Right?
What?
Farming world events so that they become horrible lag fests where people camp out for 30 min without bothering to do the pre-events just so they can be part of a fight that lasts 2 min where you can’t see your skill bar?
This is good how exactly?
Have you actually done them?
Why are you quoting me?
@Dondarrion I agree with you 100%
Last night at SB people where having a dance party in the swamp- kittening that SB is late again- guess what?
NO ONE was doing the pre-events because they didn’t want to lose their spot- it is a sad sad situation and very bad for the game.
People were sending fake help me calls to waypoints all over the map- heck even different maps.
The fix is truly welcome.
Gw2 has the best terrain design of any game I have ever seen- it is also not conducive to mounts.
There is no need for mounts and mounts will take up resources that could be better used elsewhere.
Also with culling the way it is now in PvE what do you think would happen? Enjoy playing by yourself on your mount because that is all you will ever see.
Seriously we are having this discussion again?
Btw I would pay any amount of money for coconuts with a galloping emote and sound effects- now that would be awesome!
This is a good fix- something needed to be done and fast.
This will stop the insane farming.
Kudo’s
Anet needs to make the spawn timer truly random.
BAM, problems solved.
Yeah since everyone will be camping it all the time, overflow will happen for everyone, great idea!
Seriously, you don’t see how making it random would be a gigantic problem? “Oh Jormag(haha puttin the screws to you pedants) is going to spawn SOMETIME today? Guess I’ll be camping Frostgorge for hours and hours…not fun but the best way to make money.”
Except that won’t happen exactly for the reason you said. It won’t be fun, but on top of hat not profitable any more. People are not going to camp something that they will not profit from.
Randomizing is the only solution to solve the overflow problem.
The Dragon events should be treated as special yet currently it is nothing but a throw away event.
Ok so they won’t profit from it, won’t camp it and then it’ll never get done? Why bother having the event if nobody will do it then? What if I actually have fun fighting the dragons and like doing it every day for that factor rather than just the phat lootz? Because I do enjoy doing the dragons every day beyond the loot and WILL camp Frostgorge because I have fun doing the fight even if the camping is boring.
I mean, how does this actually make things BETTER rather than just more annoying?
While you may enjoy the fights, the current state of the game didn’t come from some sudden epiphany from the player base who discovered the joy of dragons. It comes from guaranteed rare drops that can be effectively farmed at proscribed times. While I agree that the state of reward vs effort needs revamping, just having people porting from one chest event to the next is not an effective answer.
With the current state of the chest event train, there has been more disruption to open world pve than was ever done by the introduction of fractals, or any other content addition. By adding in random spawn locations and random event times, or by adding a substantial quest event chain before the spawning of any world event boss, some of these challenges currently facing open world pve could be addressed. I don’t believe anyone wants to take away the wonder of fighting a huge dragon, but the current state of these events just being a factory for drops is not good for the game environment as a whole.
Most champion level and some veteran encounters in the game are currently more challenging than any of the world boss events, yet the rewards for these encounters are disappointing at best. By adding in relevant rewards for effort in all champions and veteran level mobs, some of the disparity in the open world population could be alleviated or balanced entirely. Everyone, in all portions of the game, should be rewarded, instead of penalized, for time spent doing whatever it is they do. The dragons, with how they are currently set up, do not do these things and upset the world balance overall.
I can’t agree with you more- you sum it up perfectly.
My main is a Mesmer and I love the playstyle but until I got better I had some really hairy moments.
I have a Mesmer and an Engineer at 80 and I love both of them to death.
I deleted my warrior and my guardian at around lvl16 because I just found them to boring to endure anymore.
If you like Elementalist, don’t knock Engineer- they have a very similar playstyle- I don’t really care that people say you have to work harder to get the results- you need to do that on a Mesmer too- but boy it is worth it.
I set myself challenges and I am always amazed if I am still standing at the end of such a fight- obviously the more skilled you become at your class the more extreme those challenges can get but it is all good fun.
I hope we get player housing before guild housing- honestly individual players need some attention too- if housing/halls get brought out, hidden behind massive unlocks that only mega guilds have access to I will through a hissy fit.
I have noticed a new attitude of trolling in the game that has never been there before. People give wrong waypoints in map—chat so that others can’t get to events and even decline to call out events all together.
I definitely blame the new camping to get loot for this.
I have been a fan of the idea of random dragons from the start and I have always loved the world events and tried to do them as much as possible- since the patch though all the magic is gone.
Something needs to be done- I don’t think limiting guesting or chest rewards is the answer.
Instead increase rewards across the game for completing event chains and give a min drop per champ/vet.
I really don’t like the atmosphere these days on my previously awesome server
I would ad mesmer, it is certainly unique, great fun, takes skill to play well.
It just lacks the speed you are looking for. They are very survivable have great control and cool utilities.
Other than mesmer I would go for engineer. Those are the most fun classes hands down as far as I am concerned
check out this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together
it was made so people can find friends to play with
good luck
I love playing humans- I also really enjoyed the circus story line because it fitted well with my idea of my main character and then I had her join the Whispers to continue with the theme.
All my characters except one are human, my odd one out is Sylvari and she really grew on me( no pun intended) I am actually sad that I’m too cheap to buy more char slots because I would have liked to have at least another Sylvari.
Tried the other races and while I like seeing them around I just can’t get into playing as one of them. Asura irritate the kitten out of me
I love underwater combat on my engineer but hate it on all the others. I am not opposed to an underwater map but something needs to be done about the underwater skills.
Maybe an option where we can choose our own skills, with more weapons and spesific underwater elites.
I think if we had a choice in the matter and can tailor it more to our characters it might be more popular.
If I’m lucky I might get a rare or two a week- since headstart I’ve had 3 exotics, two of which were aquatic weapons and one some or other crest. ( all off regular trash mobs)
The aquatic weapons are now on my main and the crest sold for less than 50 silver.
Luckily I am not that bothered by loot :P
Thanks for the clarification- I missed that from your OP.
Funny map chat is great- it harms no one.
I have seen people troll new players asking questions though eg someone asked what condition damage was and was told it is what makes your armor stronger or asking were something is and get waypoint links all over the map.
Sorry if I misunderstood you.
So someone asked for some information in chat and you trolled them?
Ahh Snow ^ take it easy and come back when you can^
The effort you have put into this thread is amazing and you are awesome!
Mine is a female human- for some reason people don’t roll female engineers 0_0
hehehe! OP that made me laugh
Awesome T shirt
I think T shirts inspired by map chat is a great idea
I can just see it now..
What time Dragon?
well OP GW2 has you covered.
You like to grind for gear?
Ascended gives you a choice of grinding fractals, completing dailies or doing guild content.
You like raids- Guild content at higher tiers covers that- just join a big guild.
Seriously though there are some really cool events in the game – try the temple runs, they are great fun and need a fair amount of players.
I don’t do dungeons myself but many of my friends love them- check them out.
You might want to go for world completion since it is an achievement and lets you experience content you might have missed.
I don’t know if you are into skins but of you are there are awesome Mystic Forge skins to work towards if you do not like legendaries.
If alts appeal to you you can experience the game from an entirely different viewpoint and play style.
You can perfect your build and gear accordingly.
Or you can continue to do the things you found most fun on your way to 80.
The game needed people to get out of LA and FoTM and the only way to do that was to make Ascended items available elsewhere, sure.
I don’t think that the new dailies were the best way to go about it.
A better way would have been to ad crafting recipes/ karma/dungeon rewards etc. Then people would just have taken the “grind in some well known efficient places and dungeons” route again. You can’t grind laurels, which is a great concept. I love dailies and monthlies, the way things currently work is one of the best ideas ANet ever had. It actually takes time to achieve that stuff, I just cannot be grinded in a short time just by putting more effort in it. It makes people actually play the game again.
Grinding has nothing to do with it but since you brought it up there are people in this game who grind and they will always grind no matter what Anet does.
As for people playing the game again- I am glad you feel that way- I feel exactly the opposite.
I was playing the game, now I feel a stupid need to finish up a daily I don’t need.
At least until I decided not to do it any more and just go back to playing the game like I have been.
I did mention that those might not be the best ideas to get people back on the maps though- so how about region specific skins/crafting mats and mini games?
Anything really that is fun just for the sake of fun and not for maxing profit and efficiency.
Unfortunately I realize that a large portion of players care very much about profit and efficiency, that is why I said what I did.
I actually agree with you OP.
The game needed people to get out of LA and FoTM and the only way to do that was to make Ascended items available elsewhere, sure.
I don’t think that the new dailies were the best way to go about it.
A better way would have been to ad crafting recipes/ karma/dungeon rewards etc.
To get players into the maps stricter level scaling, better rewards, new DE’s, interesting boss fights etc would have gone a long way- there is a reason people were camping plinx and FoTM and why they are camping dragons now.
( not great suggestions but that is just off the top of my head)
As for the urge to chase the carrot I agree with you and I don’t even care about the carrot, just the fact that I can get my dye fix by getting 5 laurels changed my game.
I used to just do whatever I felt like and I still do, I just feel like I should be ticking off a checklist to get that laurel.
I don’t like that at all- the fact that dailies are easy and quick to complete has nothing to do with it.
I dislike it so much in fact that I stopped doing them, unless it happens by itself as I do what I was planning to do- I don’t get them as often now but I am much happier.
I find it hilarious that even people who where for Ascended items initially have now realized what they are
Female #7 on my mesmer
Recently I saw a player with two fiery dragon swords and it looked awesome.
When I realized that they where HoM awards I was impressed.
I never played GW when it came out due to not having an internet connection but I did buy it with all expansions in Nov.
Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to play after playing GW2.
As far as I am concerned the HoM awards are for GW players- they deserve it and their time/ money and investment gave us GW2
There is a report option on the page next to the like/ message button at the top of the page- unfortunately the nearest category is scam- report the FB page with that function.
My main is a condition built staff mesmer in carrion gear with sigils of corruption and runes of the undead.
So she is pretty much as condition based as you can get and she is awesome.
She kills really fast and I use her for PvE
I also have a presc/power crit mesmer in beserker gear and I must say I see no real difference in killing speed- if any I still prefer my main.
It is up to which play-style you prefer.
Also the guy above me has a point about damage over time- while your conditions do their work you can focus on other things.
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
oh yes please that would be awesome
This seems really one-sided to me.
While it is true that there should be content for larger guilds ( let’s be honest – this is raid content) the rewards are substantial and small guilds are being excluded from both the rewards and the content.
This is not fair- what would be fair is if there were similar but lower tier missions geared toward smaller guilds.
As it stands now no new guilds will ever really get off the ground and that is unfair towards future players.
Small guild that already exist will lose out because they will have to represent larger guilds and so lose the influence they could have earned and used for their own guild.
I really hope that smaller guilds will also get some content at some point because I see a kittenstorm incoming
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
I have also been getting lag lately and sometimes my game just goes into a funny cycle where all my skills flash at the same time and then I dc a few seconds later
- I have been having issues with my connection though so I thought it was that.
Here’s my current theory. It has to be a long timer event, like megadestroyer or maybe even taida covington. Since we know the mega destroyer drops 2 named exotics, it’s less likely, but not out totally. There was also mention of the Tomb of Morlog, which may possibly have an event. I have serious doubts about Font of Rhand, but it’s worth mentioning.
Font of Rhand is seriously my last bet- it is a rare event and needs the meta completed to even be available and it is not often done.
It is also a pain to do, my guess it is very unlikely to have been farmed by 80’s
She is the queen, she can wear no shoes and underwear and get away with it :P
I would love to see this fleshed out. It had such promise but it fell away..
we can have player housing in the home instance and it would be awesome if the instance actually reflected our story.. there is so much possibility there.
Mesmer for sure- their powers are perfect subterfuge and distraction- would make your life so much easier and teleport naturally
Nothing to see here move along
Pitch, Lipstick and Mithril.
Granted I use this on leather armour but it looks awesome.
Sylvari engineer? OP that is probably the rarest combo in the game
I adore engineer- mine is lvl72 now and I am having a blast with her
My main is a mesmer and of all the classes I think mesmer and engi are the most fun by far. That’s exactly why I’ve chosen this race for engineer.
It seemed so unreal that it attracted me… a walking plant interested in mechanics and wielding a flamethrower… this was just so good to pass by(I really like to do things out of a box).
So, I downloaded game today, played a bit after a break.
Took me a while to get used to my old combos, Pistol + shield, FT & Elixir button smashing.
I now remember why I quit and didn’t reroll different class.
Back in the days, I really hated lack of sigils on main weapon influencing your kits… I’m mostly playing around with kits around, my main weapon is so rarely used that sigils in them are wasted .. in … like 80% of the time. Was there anything addressed towards this or is it still there? It really closed me some doors of customizing my playstyle.
I play pistol/ pistol with FT and grenade kit mostly and I have sigil of corruption on both my pistols. I end up with 25 stacks really fast and as long as I don’t go down it stays up. Works great so far
http://gw2crafts.saladon.net for crafting guides.
My guides automatically change with market conditions so you don’t have to worry about them being outdated or causing market spikes.
this
It is the best guides out there- great job on that
There is a limit to the folder? Nooo I am way past 600 and those are only the ones I kept.
