The ones Bambula posted are the current PvE meta build of Rangers. But I think the second build has a small mistake: Signet of the Beastmaster trait with no signets. Would maybe be better to take Remorseless or Piercing Arrows.
Also I would take Bloodlust sigil on Sword and Scholar runes.

Inb4 someone tells ’’RANGErs’’ need this RANGEd weapon and say it does fit.

As for the Krait/Nightmare Court, Scarlet made the Krait think their prophet is reincarnating and used the Kraits to help build the Tower. It wasn’t revealed why Scarlet needed that Tower. Maybe the Nightmare Court is helping, because they want to know where Malycks Tree is (wasn’t it that what they wanted to know in the Personal Story?).

As for the mindlessness of Scarlets actions, Anet did say they haven’t revealed her true intentions yet, so she’s not doing it for fun or because she’s just bad and likes bad stuff.

Did you try to activate it after the thief went stealthed? You need a target to activate the skill, so you need to use Sic ’Em before the thief goes into stealth.

Lily, could you screenshot what you’re talking about on your armors for me? That may or may not be a texture bug. It may be a tangent viewpoint thingy (that’s the technical term, sure. ;}). If it is, nothing to be done about it. If it is texture, I’ll get to it when I fix the sets.

I tried to get a screenshot of it, but I couldn’t get the red show up. I guess it was just some random reflected lighting issue (don’t know how to better say it :P). The red I saw was very similar to the boots, but very minimal (as in hard to see), so maybe the gloves/chest reflected some of that red (the T3 can be very shiny (reflective) at ingame day time).

I have never used Longbow actively and I will always use Shortbow. Even after dec 10th I will keep using SB over LB (except in some tower defense situations in WvW). Although I like Shortbows utility and skills, I too think it needs some love. Longbow has recently gained (and will get soon) some nice buffs, so when’s Shortbows turn? But then again I do believe Shortbow got nerfed (twice) to make Longbow more appealing, so it’s unlikely SB would get a buff.

Well A-Net didn’t design the armor with the idea that you’re gonna be playing the game pantless.
They probably figured that most leggings will cover those spots so may not have bothered to design those (very) small spots.

The red parts are visible even with T3 pants on, and they are of the same set! Must be a bug.
As a side note, I can see that same red colour in my T3 chest and gloves, but only from certain angles. The red in chest and gloves don’t come from Midnight Fire dye, like I first suspected.

1. Ranger (main): I play this everyday, PvE, WvW, PvP.
2. Mesmer (primary alt): PvP, dungeons when people… well… don’t like that I’m on my Ranger.
3. Guardian: Just some PvE stuff and when going to a dungeon and we lack a Guardian (not often).
4. Necromancer: PvE when I want to play with conditions.
5. Elementalist: I really like Ele, but I just don’t play on this one. This is the only alt with no build or a specific way I’d like to play.
All are lvl 80.

Thanks Kristen for the post. From what I understood the way dyes affect our cultural armors and glow currently will be changed? If so, that’s really great, cause I can’t find any good colour combinations anymore.

Yeah, it has been there since the cultural armor changing patch went live.

What I hate about the new changes on my female medium t3 is that the part which glows on the chest looks beautiful at day, but when it starts glowing, the greenish colour glows so bright it gets blueish, and toning down glow intensity apparently doesn’t affect armors.

Second thing is that the boots that are coloured the same way as the chest, makes the boots look like perma glow versio of the chest. Why not make the same dye affect the boots the same way as the chest (darker at day and glowing brightly at night, instead of this perma brightness)?

Third and last thing, if this change was to make glow controllable, then why is the t3 pants glow still determined by the pants colour. If I want a blueish glow, I need to have blue pants, which don’t fit the look. The pants weren’t changed in any way.

What has been changed is that the dye that affects the stripes in the t3 medium chest (female atleast) armor now affect the parts (visible in the middle of the chest) that were only affected by skin colour.

I think I like the after, Failth. It looks like they opened up the dyable areas a little bit and added some better shading.

Left side is before, right is after. They added a dye slot to the legs and they look better now after the fix, but 1 dye slot was removed from the chest and boots as well I think

I spent hours and nearly 200g on glacial dyes to get the look that I wanted and now they look completely different on boots & chest, hell all dyes look different than what they used to. Left side is the look that I liked and I’m still trying to go for the same kind of look after the patch. Just feels frustrating spending tons of money to get the look that I wanted just to see it all gone under a week

I have the exact feeling as Failth (even though I used ~60g on Glacial Sky and Glacial Teal compared to 200g, it still hurts). I’m slowly getting there to get my old look back, but it’s not the same…

Anyone else have medium T2 and notice a massive visual difference post-patch? I’ll get some screenshots up but the highlight colours on my armour are considerably deeper now and there seems to be some glow where there previously wasn’t as well – although the glow on the chest piece is glowing my skin colour, not my glow colour.

Yep there are big changes in the Sylvari cultural armors.

Also female sylvari t3 gloves gained 2 new dye slots, which seem to have no purpose at all.

Well, maybe you can’t see it that good, but lighting definitely isn’t the deal. The boots are different and the coat is different. It’s definitely changed. Now you can dye parts that weren’t affected before.
I hope fellow players that were affected by this could write here.

Anet please fix this. Just look at the difference! I had finally perfected my look when I log in after patch to see this hideous thing.

So Anet, after reading all these comments, I feel like we should get:
1. Option to revert the changes, so that those who like the changes can keep them and those who don’t can revert (preferably this) OR
2. Make dyes affect armor like they used to but keep the glow.

Thank you so much for reverting the way dyes affect Sylvari armor but keeping the glow! Also I love the new dye slot for t3 medium pants. The only sad part is (I hate to say this) now I can’t get the look I had pre-change or the look I had post-change since the areas dyes affect weren’t reverted. But I do appreciate that you made the change and I will just have to get used to this again.

My medium T3 armour doesn’t seem to glow :-/

Umm my Medium T3 pieces glow (female character). Chest stripes, shoulder stripe, helm stripes and pants have glow. Gloves don’t seem to have. Not sure on boots, if the stripes glow.

I also believe heavy T2 has chest glow on both male and female.

Comparing to other classes fixes, this is on the same level. Don’t expect buffs/nerfs every patch.

Or you can zoom the map. Works for me every time.

A Rider. Wind Rider, Reef Rider… ranged support pet with a targetable F2 AoE skill with combo field (could give lightning field or ethereal field), depending on the Rider.

(These are just my opinions based on my experiences)
Pvp: I’ve done a bit of this, and a spirit build is great and viable.
Wvw roaming: Never done this, but I know there are viable builds like regen bunker condition build.
Wvw medium/large scale: Here I run a 30/0/20/20/0 build, GS/SB, and either full soldier or full berserker, just depending on the fights. Traited SoS, Muddy Terrain, SotH (as quolity of life) and RaO to get 24s Stability. With this build I can run with the melee train (yes even with zerker gear) with GS equipped spamming auto attack. But really if I stray too far from the rest of the melee train, I’ll most likely end up dead. Then I pop SoS, get out of the middle and start shooting with SB (Piercing Arrows).

Only things I see are Maul buff, Healing Spring buff or nef, how you take it, and Sic ’Em change. And the unmentioned pet health buff.

Can’t really come up w/a filler for the spirit utilities, maybe some sort of Warden stances.

I think Preparation skills (like in gw1) could work as fillers.

I still think pets should be able to rally from a kill. Or put a timer in which the kill must be made to rally the pet.

I don’t want to hear it from you thieves. You want something that completely negates a traitline and a bunch of skills? Okay, have our pets. If they die, the beastmaster traitline is shut down, and the actives for our signets are shut down. I don’t want to hear it.

You have 2 pets. When one dies you bring the other one out and wait for the first one to recover. Pretty sure you aren’t as screwed as you think.

You are when both of them are down, which is the same thing you guys are complaining about. Except it happens to rangers all the time…so really…think about us before you complain about it, since we’ve been dealing with it since the game launched.

Yet you have the options to keep the pet alive where thieves can’t do anything about being revealed.

Yea, keeping it alive means not using it all the time. And don’t say that crap about F3 call it back from battle, when A) pets can’t dodge and always take time before actually coming to you and B) you can’t call it back to you because you are meleeing the foe too (again, I can dodge, pet can’t).

So now here’s the same option for thieves. Don’t use stealth so you don’t need to worry about revealed.

I’m sorry, but I personally dislike all plant armor on everything that’s not a Sylvari (also dislike all Sylvari with no plant armor). But I do think your Charr looks good and I give you 6/10.

I always have a shortbow equipped, but I never go anywhere without having a longbow in my bag. Imo longbow is only good for WvW defending keeps or just afk and sit back at some world bosses.
I feel longbow is too slow for me.

I still use it, still works and still love it (although my gear is different from the link; I have more Berserker gear due to mostly playing pve).

My question:
How do you (Osicat) feel about the new Traveler’s runes?

Sylvari female Ranger, when pet regens back alive after being dead:
“Get up, silly creature, I won’t let you die!” in such an emotional way. Definitely my favourite line. Also (when pet regens back alive):
“It’s not time for eternal sleep, get up”.

I can swear I heard something like:
“They should see me now” several times at the start of the game, but have never heard it since.

Gain swiftness:
“I’m fast as the wind”

I think all the current Infinity Lights will be account bound, then the ones crafted after the patch will have a set stat combo and be Bind on Equip.
