I found using Mallyx/Glint on cele to be most succesful, using mace+shield/sword+axe.
Using Devastation, Corruption and Herald.
There is no effort to keeping might at ~20 stacks.
Mace for condi pressure, might blasts and burn field spam.
Shield helps sustain.
Sword for dps, might and evade.
Axe as gap closer and interrupting.
F2+Pain Absorption=8s resistance+2s for every condi pulled. That alone keeps you alive for a long time against condi bursts and that’s just using 1 Mallyx utility.
My only gripe with this build is the vulnerability to CCs.

My take on Cele Reve

I can go confidently 1v1 any class with this, while offering boons and ferocity to allies among other utility in teamfights. Only downside is just 1 stunbreak.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I thought Glint would be a nightmare to manage, but I seem to be always at over 50 energy while in combat channeling Glint. Swapping to Mallyx is much more energy hungry and I keep hovering at 10-30 energy.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Ok so this is the build I have landed on
Having Glint over Shiro is better in most situations. You become slower, but the utility on Glint is awesome and the only Shiro skill I miss is Phase Traversal, so the trade off is worth it.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
It does but with a slight delay
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
It’s weird it’s worked all this time in PvP but not in PvE.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
My F2 works fine
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Now
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I thought we were talking about Condi LB, not Hybrid. Also, I speak mainly from PvP perspective, where I’ve even seen Zerk SB builds, but not a single Condi LB, ever.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Why is everyone always picking Runes of Rage? Wouldn’t Scholar be better? You already have perma fury with Glint and you get 10% modifier from Scholar instead of 5%. You don’t see Rangers running Runes of Rage when they have perma fury, they go for the Scholar ones too.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Zerk SB is nowhere near similar to ‘’Condi LB’’ in viability like Tragic put it.
Sure SB is weaker in dps compared to LB but it gives you different tools to work with and a different play style without totally off-putting the damage, so it does work on some level. Certainly not on the top level where LB sits when it comes to power builds, but Zerk SB is not completely unviable.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
95% of the time I’d see swift termination as the best choice.
If that is so why do thieves run improvisation now instead of executioner?
Since when and in which mode? In PvE and dungeons is executioner the obivous better choice.
There’s this other mode called PvP. You might have heard of it.
On topic the trait is fine, 300hp/s is good.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
@Wandelaar yeah I was thinking of swapping Leeching to Energy on Shield as there isn’t any vigor on Rev, only the 25% while upkeeping. Thanks for the tip
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
This is what I’m going to test in pvp in BWE2.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I’m sticking with Ranger as main, but Revenant will definitely be my go-to heavy class, just like Mesmer is my main light class. I just can’t let go of my Ranger as I’m so heavily invested in it and I do enjoy it the most, hopefully even more with Druid coming.
Until now I haven’t had a heavy class I enjoy so I’m very happy Revenant is coming!
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Well we haven’t even seen BWE2 and there’s plenty of time for BWE3 + changes before launch.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
If I’m not mistaken, reward tracks will continue working as they do now.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Swoop: Fixed a bug that caused this skill to trigger leap finishers twice. This skill now only triggers a leap finisher when the character jumps toward their target.
Wait, can someone test if we seriously need a target for the leap finisher? If so, how is that fair that thieves can still get a leap finisher on an untargetted heartseeker? Please tell me this is just bad wording on their part.
Probably just means the final jump that’s performed with or without a target.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I guess they will both evade each others strikes. Last beta when me and another rev hit UA the same time the animation was really odd, both of us blinking around and we were actually moving each other somehow, even when we were both locked to the animation.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
It renews OS on every application of Fury to you, even if you already have Fury on and even if the Fury comes from an ally.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Edit: with revs addition, i like that every armour tier now has one class with the special dodge. it doesn’t need to go beyond that, it’ll just take away some of the snowflakeness from the thing.
Which light class has a special dodge? Only thief and now rev got it.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I see running WS/NM/BM great for new rangers as it adds passive survival. When you get better you can switch NM for SK for more flexibility on skills. Mind that I don’t mean running NM is bad, it mostly comes down to preference as both NM and SK are great utility lines. And when we get to see Druid, it will have to compete with those two lines.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Actually, passive/agressive is already in game. By default it’s not keybound. You have to go into the options > controls and keybind it. I have mine set to “L”. F5 to activate pet aspect (there by absorbing the pet) is completely probable.
He might have meant Attack/Come back command that’s been suggested several times to work as a toggle to give room for a pet ability.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Hoping for Ranger, expecting Warrior, could be Thief or Engi too.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
There’s always Pain Absorption. And yes the 6 of Lyssa is great, but it gives precision which we don’t really need, especially with Roiling Mist.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I’m considering atm Mace/Shield+Sword/Axe Celestial with Hoelbrak/Strength runes.
Going Devastation for leech, Glint for shield and f2 and Invocation (helps as ‘’anti-Crystal Hibernation’’ too if you get CC’d out of it).
I’m really struggling on which legends to choose. Shiro is great for mobility. Mallyx is great for Resistance and utility with boon rip and displacement. Glint has great utility aswell. I’m thinking Shiro is a must for the mobility with ports and stunbreak. Then it just comes down to Glint and Mallyx. Going Glint leaves high vulnerability to conditions. Going Mallyx means missing on everything great for celestial.
That said probably going Shiro+Glint with Hoelbrak runes and hoping the leeching out sustains condis.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
The utilities remind me of signets (as speculated to be Glints utilities), just with a Revenant twist. Activate for passive, activate again for ’’active’’ effect and long-ish cooldown. Just that other professions don’t need to activate for passive.
Really need to see the changes Roy has made and the full preview of Herald to decide if I want to spec for this on the build I used, even just for new f2 (boons!) and shield (to replace OH Sword on my build).

How many new ranger companions in HoT?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Set your goal to zero so if we get none you dont get dissapointed but if we do you get happy
I’ve learned to live by this from the start on things considering Ranger.
But if we do get new pets, I’m thinking one for each Family, for example Cats get Tiger, Lizards get Raptor…
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
No
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Here are my notes and comments from what I tested (PvP perspective). The build I used.
Traits
I found all traits to be useful and there is good competence on trait slots (good as it makes decision making harder and adds a bit versatility). Sad to see lack of defensive traits. The life siphoning traits were great!
MH Sword
1 is great but the animation is a bit odd.
2 needs something added to it, I only used it to track stealthed enemies.
3 was a death sentence if not used wisely. It should get a channel bar and a way to break the channel mid animation. Or add evasion to the skill, which could be balanced with ‘’unable to contest capture-points’’ as it would be the only evading damage skill that sticks to target (compare to Blurred Frenzy, Pistol Whip).
OH Sword
4 just needs bug fix, which Roy has already done. Good skill overall.
5 needs bug fixing too as it didn’t work over half of the time (teleports me but not my target or nothing happens at all). Maybe lower the energy cost by 5.
Mace
1 is good, nice fast torment stacking auto and poison if you complete the chain.
2 needs imo 2 stacks of burning per tick to bring it in line with the rest burning skills ingame currently. Also making it ground targetable like Jalis IR would help control where the field lands as it’s pretty random when fighting in close ranges.
3 more torment stacking, blast for fire fields and hits good direct dmg. No changes needed.
Axe
4 good skill, no issues and no changes needed.
5 could use with a bit width increase as it’s hard to land if the foe isn’t right on top of the rift.
Hammer
1 solid auto.
2 good dmg from range.
3 could use with evasion during the mist leap.
4 solid anti-projectile.
5 very slow and hard to land but ok skill overall.
Shiro
6 could do with slightly bigger initial heal and removal of the siphon ICD.
7 super useful but I’d lower the energy cost to 30 maybe.
8 another super useful utility, no one can run away from you if they don’t break target with stealth.
9 no changes needed, super useful like above.
10 hefty energy cost but pay off is worth imo.
Mallyx
6 great heal, I many times went back to full hp from very low by using 7 first, then this.
7 love the resistance spam and team support of this skill, no changes needed.
8 spammable boon rip? Love it, no changes.
9 super useful utility, energy cost is in good spot so you can’t really spam this. Great for saving teammates from stomps or from getting chased. Also decap forcing! Stability should counter this spell.
10 not a huge fan of the conditions copying with 1 stacks but it’s a good elite. I used it mostly for sending soft cc back to foes and leaving the form immediately. Maybe a condition threshold could be added to be like the rest of Mallyx skills, maybe to copy your conditions for 5 seconds if you have 3 or more condition on you instead of 3 seconds. Would help with stacking conditions on enemies. Just an idea though.
Misc
Right now the Revenant feels super squishy. It really needs more defensive capabilities and I hope Glint will bring that, but that would force to always spec for Glint as right now Revenant gets eaten alive by most meta builds. Though I must say towards the end of the beta my survivability had increased, so part of feeling so squishy can be a result of people not knowing how to play the class properly yet.
Another thing I’d love to see is the removal of energy cost on healing skills. Got me killed a few times when I was using an upkeep and hitting heal, only to run out of energy and dying. I know, it’s my fault of not paying attention, but it would be a nice change.
I loved the feel of the class and it was really fun to play. Channeling Shiro and porting like a thief, only to swap to Mallyx and really feast on those conditions. I miss my Revenant already and can’t wait to play it again!

I too have settled on celestial sword/axe+mace/sword. Only defense is the healing so unless you can get it rolling, you’re dead fast (reason why burst and cc kill revs fast).
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Keep in mind that this skill stays on target (in 1v1) unlike Pistol Whip/Blurred Frenzy and even hits stealthed enemies.
It doesn’t hit stealthed targets, but there seems to be no limit to sticking on target, you can even taxi through a mesmer portal.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Shiro+Mallyx
Devastation 1 2 3
Corruption 2 3 1
Invocation 2 3 1
Celestial amulet with Strength runes
Mace+Sword/Sword+Axe
Blood+Leeching/Doom+Leeching
Has mobility, condi management, might generation, sustain and power/condi burst. Downsides are high vulnerability to CC and burst.

Ok I haven’t read all the suggestions, but what if the well causes 1 pull on the first or second tick, so that you will get hit by the float if you don’t have a stunbreak or stability. So instead of removing all the pulls, just reduce the amount of them so you have time to get away or dodge. Imo would be much better than something you can just walk out of.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Started reading and felt excited. Kept reading and got hit by the face by disappointment, when I realized they had left Stalker’s Strike out of the range increases. Rest was meh bugfixes.
Got to say though no nerfs and needed fixes so I’m overall happy about the patch.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
1. I wanted staff (support nature magic) or hammer (bunny thumper!).
2. I always liked the ’’aspect’’ mechanic that got brought up a lot in the CDI, but won’t likely be it as we saw the druid with a pet.
3. Consecrations (more AoE support), Kits (animal ’’channeling’’) or Meditations (something magic-y I suppose :P) seem fitting to me.
4. Druid.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
The thing is, those are channeled abilities. Eles can start channeling Churning Earth or Ether Renewal and they don’t need to wait for the channel to finish to get some effects.
Think if you could cast Ether Renewal and at the last moment interrupt it yourself for a 5(?) second CD.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I typically go condi ranger and I really think the attractiveness of ws, nature magic and beastmastery outweighs quick draw. Sure, a double split blade would be nice but an on demand weakness blind and taunt for f2 from beastmastery will be very strong. It will actually make our pet mechanic quite powerful in pvp, in my opinion.
Quick Draw isn’t the only attractive trait in Skirmishing, there’s crit bleeds and 33% bleed dmg, both of which are considerable traits when building a condition build. NM only offers selfish defenses so BM will be imo the preferred choice as the third specialization, just for the utility it offers with aoe weakness/taunt (not to mention pet CD reduction for more CC/dmg). Sure Allies’ Aid is useful, but BM utility imo outweighs NM. Although I’ll admit I am going to miss Evasive Purity ;_;
WS being taken is a given :P
On topic:
I’ll use Quick Draw probably mostly on evades or interrupt. Ofc the situations differ and you might need double Poison Volley but that’s the beauty of Quick Draw, it offers so much active play and decision making in the moment.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
(edited by My Sweet Lily.1952)
I was hoping Stalker’s Strike range would become baseline. I really have a problem using it without Offhand Mastery but we’ll have to adapt I guess. The extra evade still makes it a competing pick against OH axe in power builds imo.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Also, I heard they’re going to take away the stat bonus from traits, and compensate those lost stats on gears. However, what I concern about is actually the pet stats on the respective pet traitline. Do they increase the overall stats of all pets to compensate the stat lost from pet trait? If that’s the case, I think it’s a great change to actually increase pet’s effectiveness without sacrificing traits to do so.
I also find out the “increase arrow velocity” function has gone missing from the read the wind trait, so does that mean it will become Longbow’s default flying speed? If not, this will totally mess up Longbow. I hope Anet will consider it.
I really hope an official staff would address this question for me.
1. They didn’t talk about pet stats, but one trait (Nature Magic Adept Major: Nature’s Wrath) says it boosts pet stats. It’s unknown by how much though.
2. They confirmed that Read the Wind velocity is now baseline on Longbow.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
For Mai, just let the pet die and when you have shred her stacks, swap pets and get to Horrick phase again.
If you have trouble with pet aggro when skipping, just put the pet on passive and spam f3 while running if you want to be 100% certain it will not attack anything. The pet can walk right in the middle of a pack of foes and not aggro, as long as you, the ranger, won’t aggro. As soon as the pet hits a foe, you aggro and the pet aggros. So hit that f3 and you’ll be fine as long as you won’t be in aggro range.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Griffy <3
I doubted his build at first too but it works surprisingly well. Usually when I go against him it’s Rapid Fire dmg on top followed by Bleed pressure dmg. I run SotF in my current build so I got cleanses but still the bleeds keep on ticking.

Still trying to decide if I should go Geomancy over Torment sigil on Axe and taking Settler’s over Rabid amulet.
