After watching Wolverine 2013 I want Cantha so bad right now! the movie had the same feel as GW1 Cantha Lore did! And I’d like to experience more of it.
I don’t mind having higher level cap, but I don’t see it coming. At all. They would have to add more levels to Crafting, all your hard earn exotics and soon-to-be ascended gear will mean nothing. I just don’t see it right now.
And they can’t always give upgrades to their existing stuff it loses the purpose of leveling and progressing.
+ I support this suggestion, will make cultural armor more diverse and really interesting.
Yup this is what I’m aiming for, to fill the gap between legendary looks and Cultural updated looks.
Also, let’s not forget that experienced players have no problem having 1-2 newbies in their teams as they will explain what to do. If you find yourself with a different sort of people just leave the party and join another one. Let it not ruin your game experience.
I always hoped that Ascended weapon and armor are saved for future Mursaat attacks on Tyria
September 2012, the first time I reached lvl 80 I tried dungeon Explorable mode. If anything most dungeons are easier now then back then. Just relax and don’t worry much.
You will have to pass that newbie period like everyone else did and once you gain some basic skills it will be easier, I promise

They seem to know flaws of every other professions but are a bit lost when it comes to Eles… dunno I just have that kind of feeling…
I’d complete it just because I’m doing WvW anyway. If I were a PvEr I wouldn’t step into WvW for the rewards at all. Season 1 reward for 2 months of battling are embarrassing.
In my mind, Season 1 should’ve been more extravagant just so people would spread out and remember their first time. It’s said that “Good word spreads fast, but bad word even faster”.
At least we know we’ve lost the interest of PvErs who could’ve been our new force. Next season won’t be popular like this one
As a WvWer I don’t get why we didn’t get Badges and WvW stuff… We already had gazillion of ascended materials from all the Lords
I’d be much more happy with 250 Badges, Superior Blueprints and 400 gemsit

+1 to this if it applies to all exotic, ascended, and cultural armors (I don’t use cultural armor, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it on some of my exotic armors). A little off topic, but cultural armor should be exotic, too…or at least Tier 3 should (especially considering the price).

I really wish we had a daily AP cap of 5 AP per day (And this is coming from a 12,5k AP user). With the adition of new pvp daily stuff we’re all gonna be able to get that 5 AP from daily
As for Legendary armor I asume that they’d have this option too but their base armor would be way more magnificent then any armor we’ve seen so far.
I’m hoping the Legendary Armors are actually Legendary Upgrades that allow us to make our current armor skins legendary, thereby adding a particle effect based on the upgrade recipe, the stat selection option, and giving us the ability to keep our custom armor mixes. It’d be very similar to the OP’s suggestion for cultural armors.
Otherwise, we’re going to see everyone and their pet Quaggan running around in the same legendary armor set and the entire game will look like clones even more than it does with the legendary greatswords now.
Yeah I hope for Legendary upgrades and profession-specific Legendary armor one day. But that day is so far away that I’m not even thinking about it. Lets focus on Cultural first

If any kind of aura/special effect were to be considered and implemented, I’d rather it stays in the gemstore. Something solely for character customization, watery/icy/stone churning footsteps, golden glow aura, etc. Similar to what those wind/fire/lightning catchers display without the backpiece.
Only thing about it that worries me is it’ll make it look like everyone suddenly has a legendary. And might cause the style to get old, quick.
I actually think it would add more variety to the same armors we wear. Not everyone would want to have Fire aura on lets say T3 Heavy, some would want Ice or Electric, or Gloomy… So instead of having the same T3 Heavy you would see people will the same base armor but different effects or no effect.
As for Legendary armor I asume that they’d have this option too but their base armor would be way more magnificent then any armor we’ve seen so far.

Why not just add t4 armor vendors with Exotic or Ascended armor?
I doubt we’ll get T4 untill an expansion or major content update arrives. Since we have so much left in Tyria to explore I don’t see T4 Cultural anytime soon. On the other hand, giving us Aura upgrades on more Exclusive armor and later even go to other armor like dungeon or nammed, will still feel like we’re getting a new armor look on an already great looking Cultural armors
This idea is just brilliant! I think Anet should really read this. Improving t3 culural armors is a good way for us to get even better look, and for them to earn money. Both sides would be happy.
Of course Devs can go deeper and add various improvements to different tiers.

The fact that it requires and upgrades a cultural armor, one that people spend lots of gold on, and that it maintains the racial specifics….. i support this idea.
That said, just because its an upgrade for a 119g armor set/skin, doesnt mean the price shoud be way too high though. Just to voice my thought incase 1k+ gems comes to mind for price
In my mind 800 gems seems like a fair price for the upgrades. Everything else is 800 gems and that’s an ok price
With the recent Fiery fiasco that occurred it actually gave me an idea… Why not start selling T3 Cultural Armor upgrades ?
We’ve already seen what a Fiery upgrade can look like on T3 Light Human so if they do plan on re-skinning other armors why not just sell graphical upgrades for Cultural Armor.
Red Fire, Frost, Lightning, Windy, Necrotic Green Fire, Illusion-purple butterfly graphics and much more. This would be an excellent addition and of course the prerequirement would be that you actually own that T3 cultural.
This way they don’t have to focus much on new skins but focus on better graphic upgrades offered in the gem store for the more Exclusive armor.

The fact that we didn’t receive any prior notice that they even were planning on doing something like this makes me feel completely betrayed. It feels like a real slap in the face to all of us who spent our time and money since 25th August 2012.
It’s not about adding the skin, the gem skin looks great it’s the fact that T3 Cultural just lost it’s purpose and value…. and made it non-race specific. That’s the issue.
So yes I’m very disappointed by this decision.

The skin truely is great but why get human t3 light now for 120G when we can get a better looking one for 800gems (~70G)
I don’t see the whole drama with this reseting thing. Yes people won’t be able to just do lvl 48 immediately and yes they will have to pug their way up again, but are you guys forgetting how fast it is to level up? especially with 3 new fractals and 1? more boss fractal. Those last 20 levels will be achieved within a week or so (for the hardcore players).
I’m pro this reset and I don’t mind losing my higher ranks. It will be fun again leveling up
If I’ve understood this correctly all the Infusions you’ve paid/MFed (to get inherited +5 on your pieces will stay), but those extra +5 that you bought from 75 relics will be washed away. Am I correct?

If you want to keep Diamond Skin, lose AoE in WvW. Go S/D or S/F and kill 1 enemy at a time :P

Yeah I agree there are many stories talking about forest folks and stuff like that. But there is a physical resemblance between Na’Vi and Sylvari. At least I can see it
Just recently I saw Avatar again on the TV and was amazed by how much similarity has the Na’Vi with Sylvari. Even part of Caledon Forest resembles Pandorian forest

Jon, this is insane talk. Damage immunity is incredibly powerful and hard counters many builds. It’s not good gameplay.
If you’re insisting on doing this, then be equitable and make direct damage immunity traits available at the grandmaster levels for necromancers and engineers.

Nothing that makes them invulnerable but effectively 2 life bars.You were saying about physical damage immunity? This doesn’t count traits either or blind spams.
If Necro’s biggest issue is how to take Eles down I dunno what to reply to that srsly. In PvP you’re seeing minion masters that can easily take down that health threshold and once that is down you can start your condi spamming. In WvW you’re not gonna wander alone anyway.
I know you necros are fighting against this because so far Eles have been a piece of cake to take down and give you easy wins (In the current meta) but if you’re good Diamond Skin will be just a small obstacle that your Golem can handle. Yes you will have to learn when’s the 90/85% happening but that’s good isn’kitten It means you gotta adjust your builds now instead of just sitting there and spaming your condi while letting your minions tank/dps.
Aquamancer’s Alacrity
We moved this trait because all profession cooldown traits are in master tier, and because that is a good investment for this type of improvement. That being said, they may all not be powerful enough to warrant a master level triat right now, but I would rather increase the cooldown to 25% to get people to consider them than to have them be adept tier and allow elementalists to run all four of them.Cleansing Wave
This is the one I am most on the fence about of all of the elementalist changes. It is a borderline master level trait and I think a better solution would be to leave it at adept tier and instead of moving Soothing Wave (which is only moving because it is better to have a 100% worthless trait at adept tier rather than master tier) we would redesign Soothing Wave into something worthy of master level.Soothing Disruption vs Cantrip Mastery
This one was debated internally for a while as well. I think swapping these traits would also help build diversity as it would let you splash 10 points in water to get Cantrip recharge, but would make you really consider going into water magic for the Regen and Vigor which is much more flavorful. I would love to hear some elementalist thoughts on that potential change.Last but definitely not least.
Arcana
I see the logic in not wanting the two changes in this line to counter each other. Moving good adept traits to master level is contrary to reducing the need to spec into this line. That being said, Elemental Attunement is just a beast of a trait and could honestly be compared with most grandmaster traits. I think a good compromise would be to place Renewing Stamina back in the adept tier, placing is where the other professions get this type of trait, and instead move Final Shielding to the master tier where it could live alongside Arcane Retribution as two good choices in arcane builds that take Arcane Mastery in the adept tier. That could leave some interesting builds such as: 0/30/30/0/10 for fresh air, diamond skin, and renewing stamina. It also still leaves builds that put only 10 points in Arcana a chance to gain Protection by going 30 air for Tempest Defense, and 10 Earth for Elemental Shielding and still have 30 points leftover.I still believe there is work to be done at the grandmaster tier in Fire at the very minimum and that Air and Water are the only truly good grandmaster choice right now. There are also still a handful of just terrible traits that will still get looked at, but we felt like we were already bordering on changing too much.

Hello, Elementalist with 1,000 (out of 1700) hours actively played this class. I already made a post on page 13 in Dec. 10th Balance Preview topic and I’m very happy you took the time to reply in an Ele-only topic for more clarity.
As for the Cantrip Mastery & Soothing Disruption most of my times played as a Cleric or more Defensive Ele, I rarely use both. If I go 30 in Water for Cleansing Water, I pick Soothing Disruption and Cleansing Wave/Aquamancer’s Alacrity. If I go Defensive I usually go 20 for Cantrip Mastery and Cleansing Wave. I do know few who went 15 in Water for the Cleansing Wave and Healing Ripple so it might affect those builds but that extra 5 that’s left doesn’t really have make much difference so I think they’ll just go 20 in Water.
The thing about our Cantrips is that they’re defensive and situational. The Cantrip recharge isn’t a must in a build since recharge rarely comes to shine because the fights are over most of the times. We’ve ether won, escaped or died and Water has better Traits then recharge. The recharge is a nice add to a Defensive trait setup where you won’t rely on Cleansing Water so you just don’t bring Soothing Disruption at all. I don’t think it would matter much if you switch out these two because Soothing Disruption really depends on the Ele having XI Cleansing Water.
As far as the Arcana tree I will feel sorry for Ele Attunement since every Ele I know is using it. As for Renewing Stamina it was rarely picked over Ele At. so we’d had to go 20 in Arcana anyway to achieve this. I do think D/D’s are the ones that will feel sad for this but even in PvP I rarely see anymore zerk d/d’s, most are now just pure bunkers. They’re the ones now that won’t be able to go El.At+R.S.+Evasive Arcana.
If anything, I believe Arcana trait needs some Foci love tbh. But please read my other post I think I made some good points there. I even had to shorten it down because it was at 5500 characters long.
