i hear you , sorry for my stupidity … normaly im well aware of this kind of fishing email but for some reason this one got to me , but 3min afther i did it i posted here and with your help i immediately changed my password to be sure i would not get hijacked.
Not too long ago , my DeviantArt account was terminated because i ignored a email exactly like that one so maybe thats why i just panicked and clicked the link and gone with it…Happens to everyone at some point… way back in 1995 or so I logged into America Online for the first time and within an hour I almost fell for a scam from someone pretending to be an employee there…
Rofl, me too! I was like “waiiitttt a minute, I just read that no employee will ask for your password…”
Ahh the good old days of backdoor orifice, winnuke and people think forum QQ is bad..
There is no grind, and farming isn’t allowed, you can just simply make another one.
Enough with the doom and gloom people gee whiz!
After having read different sections of the forum. I’ve come to realize that players have a lot of issue (including my self) with how certain things are being run in game. The answer to all your problem is simple people. “Option -> Log off game”. Go spend time with your friends and family. I do it daily after logging on to see if any guildies online then log off if nothing happening
Or, you could just play the game and not worry about the forums. If DR’s were removed, that’s where I would be.
Other than that, you can take your own advice and log off the forums if you don’t like it.
Not much of a mix, but I thought it looked good. All my other toons just have CoF set /snoring.

its a pretty kitten good fishing site then , its the exact webpage and skin and everything , it even got the noreply@guildwars2.com , this make me feel like Anet is not doing their job , its the same kitten site , arent they supose to chek for those kind of stuff ? i bet many people will get their account hacked right there. thx for the info i just changed my password and stuff for security measure. But they should keep a eye out for people using their name and their email…
I think they are doing their job, it’s the people who have been informed about these tactics, yet ignore the proper steps to avoid it.
Check reddit maybe.
2. How can this be an opinion? Pointing out the fact that Paladin is getting CONSTANTLY buffed and Druid is getting CONSTANTLY nerfed.
3. Better loot drop rate is also not an opinion having in mind that we can take and compare WoW drop rates and GW2 drop rates. WoW has very low drop rates and does actually admit it.
8. Not true remember the way WoW was in the past, therefore can not stand as an opinion either.2. Math.

Opinion, except for the sexy part, that is all fact, you can even check the Wiki!

Maybe instead of a gear treadmill that scares the living-kitten out of ANet fans…
What about endgame that improves you current armor and weapons cosmetically?
Stat-less upgrades, for weapons and armor like: sparkles, shine ect..
Of course I don’t think it could ever be done in this game, much like the Legendary weapons, it is a grind, yet ANet doesn’t allow grind – then again it could based / purchased with Achievement points.
Do it well or don’t do it at all…
War against bots.
/facepalm
There are less visible bots in GW2 than in any other MMO I know where this is relevant. So they’re not only doing the best they can, they’re also doing better than everybody else, although GW2 is still very young. The prices at well known gold selling sites also confirm that.
Punish bots, punish players.
Bots are now tele-gathering – Moving nodes?
Punish bots, punish players.
The ads I’ve gotten here on the forum clearly state that bots are doing well.
Lol what did you expect to do against a Chinese hacker even if you got the exact street address? Call the US army and tell them there’s oil in his house?
Just change your password and hope it dont happen again (even then you got the email verification that blocked it like this time).
ROFL!!
Get the mobile auth thingy.
This combat is going to be perfect for next gen consoles. I hope by then they have more skills to use per weapon though.
The game dose not need a gear treadmill. You want to feel like your getting stronger? how about actually getting better at playing the game.
L2P reply is insulting…
I wouldn’t say that the game needs a gear treadmill for power, but it definitely needs something that you can build from.
To make it short:
Apart from the lore and the music….what GW1 features were actually implemented in GW2?None that come to mind.
Mike O’Brien lied to try and get the remaining GW1 players to get GW2.
Respect: -1000.
Not entirely true… Every time you enter another zone you go through a load screen, I’ve played very little of the first tittle, but I do remember that.
I tend to get bored with the game as well, but it is my own fault. I’ve played it to death so to speak. And what I would really find interesting: Living Story, Being a Guild Master, and other things are beyond my grasp. the reason is school and family. I’d have to devote a serious amount of time to actually being active instead of logging in killing stuff afk for a bit repeat lol. I probably play more than the average person, and this has made me a bit bored but again that is my fault. There is many other things I’d like to enjoy but just can’t right now. But this doesn’t mean at some other time I won’t dive into the content. 1125 Hours 3 months.
That’s what I had stated originally, people who are looking to fill a void that another game had fill for years will most likely be disappointed in GW2. GW2 isn’t designed to slow players down early on in the game to ensure the longevity created to keeping a subscriber, subscribed. You can quickly plow through the entire game, complete many things and be left with grinding and farming. The “whole game is endgame” feature is great to those players who don’t play excessive amounts of time, or see the game as completion steps: “This > That > This > Now what?”
I’ve played WoW an extreme amount of unhealthy hours for a very long time during vanilla, comparing the 2 games for what they are and not by design is the problem. Some games prolong play by slowing it down. GW2 sped it all up then later slowed it all down, perhaps not enough, depending on player style.
To be fair, ANet targeted both mmo players and non-mmo players, there is bound to be those who are alienated.
I know, I just think people who came from other games who enjoyed years of excessive play, are disappointed that this game doesn’t fill that void. mmorpgs for a long time have been a life away from life and this game is a shocker once you “beat it” and no patch notes of the next big boss coming to end the world.
Honestly, if I knew this game was going to be this short, I’d have only played it 1 – 2 times a week.
As soon as I read a post that says “I played 1400, 1500, 1600, et al, but now I’m bored!!!” I cease taking it seriously.
Surely for a single player game that is a lot, but an mmorpg? That’s not much at all…
It’s a lot in 6 months. Do the math.
I’m not here to judge what people do with their life, I’m just sayin’…

Proof? A Wiki link? C’mon man… Really?
Your opinion is stated in the most positive way possible. It doesn’t make you a hero. You’re not expressing yourself in a way that anyone could look at your posts and take them seriously except for the fanboyism.
My constructive criticism died along time ago.
Pfft, soon as a game launches it is, whether you believe it, or not – dying. Other than that, if the game doesn’t change course it will be dead to me. However the game is less than 1 year old, I’ll give it a chance, but I will not hang on forever.
I usually make a few posts, see whats going on and leave – check my post history. Then you happened, so I’ve been here for a week or so, though I don’t make a day out of it, I am not as dedicated as you are.
I thought this thread would have died by now.
The game is doing financially well.
The game (content and balance) is doing well in comparison to other popular MMORPGs that were under a year old at their respective times. The community is in utter ruins as trolls and whining babies have risen from the waters of Orr and have taken over Lion’s Arch.
I knew the thread wouldn’t die a quick death because the naysayers were bound to come into it to try to argue their point. I just wanted a thread from the other side of the coin, since most of the threads about the games health have been negative (because people assume their opinions are going to kittenoed by most people).
I agree! I have yet to see a thread that mostly talks positively about the game’s health. There are a few threads in the Game Discussion branch that relates to that but not as widespread as this one.
The doom and gloom crowd would like everyone to believe that because they don’t like a game, or because it’s not for them, that everyone feels that way or even that most people do.
I’m sure there are some people who do feel the way they do…and I’m sure there are some people who feel the way I do.
I guess that’s really the point. No one has a monopoly on an opinion.

Doom and gloom is much better than the fanboy praise the company gets because OMG-GW!!! I wasn’t a fan at all (AT ALL) because caps emphasizes importants of opinions lul… Anyways I was a huge fan of GW2, loved BWE’s and launch, but the game slowly started turning into a game I didn’t like. Most companies try to improve the game over time, these so called “trolls” are just frustrated in the direction of the game.
If you don’t agree, fine, you don’t have to, but unless you’re making decisions for ANet, shut your trap.
So can you like a game without being a fan boy? I’ve been meaning to ask you.
Because I don’t like some things and I do like other things. But most of all, I dislike people making mountains out of molehills. Minor things are lambasted as the end of the world. As for shutting my trap, let me give that suggestion all the consideration it is due.
You fail to see my point. Both doom and gloom is just as good as praise, get over yourself man, seriously.
-edit, because all you want to do is argue your opinion, closing thread after thread with nonsense.

The linear paths and excessive hand-holding ANet does is killing gw2 slowly. People will go on about entitlement, but really it’s more about the control of dedication, prolonging content via gating. ANet wants to be know for breaking molds and I am sure they’d love to take the crown from WoW, but unless they give more power to the player with dedication and shinies, I don’t see them ever getting close.
I am not talking about box sale numbers here, but active players and the state of the game.
*edit, power to the player (not meaning stats) though, cosmedics are not much of a reward honestly, especially the way loot is done in this game.
What linear path? I chose my own way around Tyria and had a blast doing it. I wasn’t forced to run dungeons or do my “personal story”. Nobody forced me to go left or right when I come to a fork in the road. If I wasn’t cutting across the map. Guides may have told me what is in a particular area but I rarely if ever did what they suggested. I explored the world and did events or hearts or skill challenges in whatever order I felt like.
Bah! Linear path, right.
Not linear eh? Start zone >next > next > next… Ignore the all paths you want, but playing the game on course is linear by design, both leveling and story leads to Orr. Running in circles all day doesn’t change a thing.
This depends on how you play the game. Do you know why this game is not linear to me?
Because I can stay in Wayfarer foothills and NEVER leave it if I choose, and get all the way to level 80. Not too many games offer this sort of thing. I can get to level 50 and decide you know, I quite like this zone, I’m going to come back to it when I’m 80. Most games don’t offer that kind of choice.
It’s not linear because there are not only five starting zones, but multiple ways to get to Orr. You can get all the way to Orr without ever setting foot in Timberline Falls, or Mount Maelstrom. You can get there without ever setting foot in Sparkfly Swamp.
You can do high level content in Orr or Frostgorge or even Sunset Cove if you have a mind to.
So no, the game isn’t linear. The story is linear, but you know. stories are. I read books all the time and they’re all linear, in that page 300 comes after page 250. That’s what makes it a story.
But the rest of the game. Being able to jump into PvP as a level 80 character at level 2….not linear. Being able to WvW from almost any level, not linear. Being able to go back to any zone to level, not linear.
If you don’t play the type of game I do and all you want to do is farm high level areas, of course you’ll find the game linear. I just wonder if you realize how many people don’t want to do that.
Zone > Zone > Zone. Nah not linear at all.. I mean you can make a new character and go anywhere in the game as level 1 right?
Sound like a burn out. Slow down and relax.
Sounds more like disregard of peoples time. Something really wrong with this game is the lack of reward, let’s be honest here, time is the commodity. ANet want’s people to play and support the game via RMT, but is so stingy people end up leaving in frustration. I know I’d never get a FotM weapon, I got bored running it a handful of times – absolutely mind numbing imo, but I digress.
RNG will not keep people happy, especially when it’s RNG wrapped in RNG with sprinkles of RNG on the top, packed in a nice little RNG box.

I’m pretty sure that’s intended, to mess with bots.
And players.
“The war on bots” ANet: Oop’s…
It seems to me that this is one of the goals of the developers. I am not talking about just your guild but the wider community at large.
It has several communities, large and small on many different sites.

^ Ugh, seriously man…
People farming for personal gain (in the game) don’t undermine ANet.
Dropped in bwe 1.
1,200ish hours in game.
Bought 1 for 3g, got 1 as a drop.
Bought around 100 unidentified dyes (12s a pop) and landed 1 Abyss.
Show me where I generalized the entire playerbase please?
Still arguing with the world? Just re-read most of your posts for the answer.
Do you have another doomsday theory for us today? Predictions on the next expansions timing and sales outlook perhaps?
If no one argued with the world, it would still be flat.
Any ways, rule of thumb, everything dies.
..that’s all I have /tired..
Here’s what it looked like to me today.
Yeah, it still doesn’t look the same as the screenshot on the Wiki. I dunno if this is just something they did to the dyes themselves or what.
It could have been, someone mentioned it says Photoshopped? I haven’t seen, but like I said in my previous post most pics don’t look the same as what I see on my screen. So I end up enhancing all my pictures to make them not look so dull/dark. So they may have done the same.

In that thread, months ago, people were complaining about the dullness compared to a vendor, or NPC who had it equipped. Comparing vendor to player it was very different.
The other point you make, about settings. I also play on max settings, but most armor that has any reflective properties work as intended. I will add that armor has a lot of glitches, or maybe it’s just rushed. Could be a file issue, still, I do really like the shine of items that offer it.

To make playing in our open world worthwhile, we’ll make it rewarding enough for players to spend their time there across all levels. It’s extremely important that we stay true to our philosophy that you should be able to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play the game in order to reach the most powerful rewards.

He did show me the link to the skele’s, still seems more like a band-aid solution more than a policy.
You should be able to play the game you want as long as it affects no one else. I’ve already explained elsewhere why that affects other people.
Farming can ruin the game for other people. Anet is right to limit it as a play style. The harder core farmers, who care only about farming, will likely leave. This won’t make the game weaker in my opinion.
Players farming doesn’t ruin the game, gold farming bots will.
Those people who farm legit for what they want, will not ruin the economy. Bots on the other hand farm for what you want and sell what you want. Eventually gold farmers will dominate the economy, then pushing people to leave, or buy gold and supporting them making the problem worse.
When you are out in the world doing events, you are surrounded by others doing the same, multiply this 1000’s of times. Now figure in drops, chests, karma, coin – It’s mass farming, some people get upgrades, some get rares/exotics, some get both. You are just playing the game, loot happens, RNG happens, it’s inevitable. The difference is? You probably didn’t guess it, but the answer is 1000’s of people are doing it for 1000’s of different reasons.
Gold farmers do it for 1 thing, money. It is a job.
Legit farmers farm for what they want and will most likely stop farming once they achieve their goal, getting it doesn’t ruin the economy, if anything it boosts it. The lack of supply and demand pushes prices up, DR’s tip the scale in demands favor and this is where gold selling comes in, but what if you could get more for less? You would be supporting bots, but then again they are doing the work that ANet refuses to let us do.
I’d also like to add that, yes people buy gold, lots of it, otherwise they would have gone to a more profitable game.

Oh, I also just sat through a day/night cycle to see if the appearance would change at all. No dice. Something very DEFINITELY changed about her palette, or there’s something in the game settings I’m missing. Maybe the “Shiny” button.
I don’t think so, the img that Recycle linked appears light in color, but it’s not like an alpha channel creating a reflective surface of polished steel, or chrome.
I’ve been looking for the post, though it may have been deleted.

This is old, another thread floating around here somewhere with an answer.
Do you remember where it was?
It was probably 4-5 months ago, people buying the gear were disappointed that it didn’t shine as they had thought.
Can’t remember the name of the gear, but I’d try first by searching that.

As good as a once pay game can hope to achieve. Gw2 is still lively, but only in lions arch and WvW(with the occasional dragon). Go to divinity’s reach, black citadel, the grove, it’s abandoned and depressing. The game is still strong, but we need a real expansion, and soon.
An expansion this early in the game kind of proves that the game is failing in the longevity department, I have seen many, many posts on the internet about this.
For me, it depends on how much you care about the game x how much time you are willing to devote.
i.e.
One can play a lot, but doesn’t really care if they get legendaries or if they win at WvW etc – Casual
One can play infrequently, and they care a lot. All they ever do is farm for their legendary or fight to be top of the charts – Casual
One can play infrequently and not really care – Very casualOne can play a lot and care a lot – Hardcore
Just going to chime in here on hardcore.
I don’t believe that extended play periods = hardcore. I’ve known casuals who played 12+ hours per day and have nothing to show for in game. While people in a hardcore guild may only spend very few hours in game per week and constantly have something to show for.
If anything, I see it as goal driven play style.
Hardcore: “I’d like to achieve x-y-z by Tuesday”.
Casual: “I’ll get there someday, no rush”.
I used that definition to show that, by definition, casual players aren’t going to play a game for long.
If someone only plays 8 hours or less a week it doesn’t mean he’ll quit sooner than another. And even if he does, it doesn’t impact revenue (no subscription).
On the flip side, the limited play time may motivate the player to buy boosts from the gem shop with real money, thus increasing revenue.
It may, but it may not. Your point? Casual = limited interest. How can you argue that leads to more money? Oh, that’s right, you can’t.
It swings both ways really.
Casual – limited interest.
Hardcore – limited content. Both player types are guilty of absurd amount of money.
Definitely. He was trying to say that Casual players will spend more money than hardcore players. I was saying we can’t know that.
Yeah, I don’t know the answer to that either, but I do know both player types and I must say the hardcore tend to spend. Then again, look at Farmville in the beginning.
Speaking of Farmville, it’s about time ANet removed those DR’s…

I don’t think it means unskilled or idiot. I think it means not dedicated or devoted. In fact, that is what it means. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/casual
Casual players won’t show the kind of dedication or devotion to a game by the nature of the definition of casual. That has nothing to do with unskilled or idiot.
Please tell me again how my contrived definition of casual is not like the actual definition of casual?
Which player is more inclined to drop 50$ in the cash shop for an armor skin and some gold? The hardcore Orr farmer? Yeah, not really. If this game was funded on monthly sub fees and used gear treadmills and competition to keep people paying, then you’d have the potential of being correct.
From my perspective the game is designed to remove competition (no mob tagging, node sharing, etc) and offer better game-play instead. I don’t believe GW2 is meant to be the only game you play. Seriously, you can go play bioshock infinite for a few weeks and come back. You won’t loose you raid spot, you wont be behind the curve on the treadmills. You shouldn’t feel forced to play. Login when you want to login. Its.. liberating.
I’ve done the hardcore BS before in other games. You can have a server first, the gear and achievements.. but in life it means nothing. Also in game, three months later its meaningless. That kind of gaming is a disease.
You two are off topic, and using completely different meanings of a single word to fluff your own arguments. I’d find it hard to believe that most casuals have not consumed most of the games content by now if they had started at launch, or shortly after.
“I’ve done the hardcore BS before in other games. You can have a server first, the gear and achievements.. but in life it means nothing”
You’re 100% correct, it means nothing in life. While it does mean a lot to those people in their lives and in the game. Explosions of emotions that people share when completing content, not only for the first time ever, but as a group, or raid is far more exciting than killing anything in this entire game.
As a gamer, casual and hardcore are very similar. The way I see it, is that hardcore take a direct path consuming content to a goal and casual bum around soaking in content as a whole. So if a hardcore player played 8 hours a week and a casual played 8 hours a week they would have a completely different view of the game.
ArenaNet gates the direct path, but sold the game as: It’s extremely important that we stay true to our philosophy that you should be able to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play the game in order to reach the most powerful rewards.
Before you get mad at others for their play style, please remember that philosophy that welcomed these players who have a different opinion than yours.
At this rate they might as well remove all skills/stats from the game and hand everyone a pistol.
ANet: Let’s create diversity.
ANet: Let’s make everything as good as the warrior.
ANet: Let’s nerf the warrior.
ANet: Let’s steamroll it all.
ANet: Let’s create diversity.
Of course the game is doing well, Guild Wars 2 is the most seriously taken niche AAA mmorpg for the super casual, ever. This game is beautiful, has a simple UI and even more simple combat system.
As for why they are hiring, well, from what little I know about the company, I read somewhere that it is very small. What I do know is that ArenaNet is behind schedule on things they said would be in game shortly after release. Almost none of that is even being talked about all the while tiny bits of content is being released. In order to make ends meet in the game with new content and old they most likely need to expand the pay-roll.
My honest opinion is that casual is popular now, but slowly dying out. It is most definitely a way to make money quickly, but not a way to make a game last. Game developers will eventually exhaust the consumers with must have AAA games of the month. As amazing as this game is, it also takes a huge step backwards, and the more casuals that it caters to, the more advanced players it will eventually disappoint.
This game is very young, if it wasn’t doing well, we are all in trouble.

Just start playing, LA for lfg, or ask in /map any events going on? If no one responds move to another location and ask the same.. I haven’t played in a long time myself, but I am positive people are still doing the same thing.
