nah im sure it will be more than 5 if its for a guild

WvW is for guilds, open world 5 man crapfest, what makes you think this will be any different?

Anet are already walking a fine line between the WoW crowd and the “We hate WoW” crowd, besides that I have no faith in this company to actually bring something useful to the game without destroying something else in return.

If we can have more than 5 people, it will be pointless time waster “playing is fun” excuse, or 5 people only, guild perks allow for things like "free travel 1h 100k influence – 25% gold find + 25% MF + 25% run speed bonus for 1h, 250k influence.

Either way, this forum will explode with valid complaints.

I love the legendaries and it’s just silly to say they are easy to get….
You have to put some serious work in them…
To obtain them by a simple quest would be way to easy and unfair to those who got them the traditional way…
The precursor system although is another matter… just too lackluster… I got my precursor for the incinerator today and it took me quite some time to get it…
They should still be very hard to get maybe with some kind of tokens so it wouldn’t be lackluster…

You actually don’t have to put any work in a legendary.

I rather a legendary be some sort of accomplishment rather than bunch of asinine tasks. A simple quest would be a very silly way of getting a legendary, I agree, but buying it off the TP is far worse than a simple quest.

How about a series of hard quests, or achievements and some crafting. ANet and this 250 of this and that is so lazy and stupid it makes me wish I never even bought the kittening game, such lack of thought by this team is a slap to the face and the fact I gave these kitteners money pisses me off even more.

Lol. Carebears in GW2…. amazing MMOS like EQ2 and WoW CONTINUE to run for what? almost 10 years? as PAY to PLAY… because they realized that its hardcore gamers are the ones sticking around.

They make end game for them, because they know the hardcore gamer, the best of the population, is the one spending more time and effort than everyone else.

GW2 endgame is a joke. You hit 80, LITERALLY buy the best gear in the game for 20 gold, complete every dungeon half asleep, complete the map and then what? Make an alt? For what? to do the same thing again? GTFO.

Add some gear rewards for people that want them, its not gonna make a casuals gameplay any worse.

I crush FotM 30? Gimme better gear, so I can go and clear CoE 1-3 in 30 minutes. How does that affect a casual players game play? You can go still fail at dungeons, you can still craft, you can still do DE’s… Ill just be doing more.

End.

Out of WoW’s supposed 10 million subscribers, less than 1/2 a million raid.

GW2 made a wise choice in not chasing that crowd.

Except those people who don’t raid, still want the gear. Playing to play is fine while leveling, playing to play while at max level is extremely boring and to top it off, anything worth having in this game is a huge grind.

WoW is the king of casual mind you, but they still cater to the hardcore, something this game refuses to do and in turn giving players no drive. Casuals can no longer dream of having [item] that [hardcore] player has and hardcore has nothing to strive for.

GW2 will starve its player base and the players will jump ship.

I’ve finished 1 daily since the patch that introduced them, I purchased a 1 laurel T6 crafting bag and got 3 t6 mats logged out. Last time I “played” I “played” the TP, made 30g and logged out.

Adding yet another currency to the game via daily officially burnt me out since I came from a game that had a metric ton of daily’s (Something I’ve always hated) but felt I had to do them for some silly inscription, or gear for progression.

No thanks.

what do you mean now? it was never worth it…

play however you want and deal with the consequences. if for some reason anet implements gear checking option, be ready to grind for a new set of gear.

Early in the games life it was totally worth it, but not any more. You may get “more” loot; however you will never get close to what used to drop.

I made a few ecto’s from my MF set, made a few clovers and quit playing.

I got to level 80, did heart quests, dynamic events, dungeons, pvp. Now what?

I havent finished the main story , but I already got to level 80 and I dont like stories, ive skipped every cutscene possible, is there any point to finishing the story?

I dont like grinding , so Ive done each dungeon a few times and thats enough. Why do them again? Ive already seen them.

I played some pvp but , its just not fun for me, I prefer shooter games for my pvp fix.

So what can I do that I havent already? Any suggestions? I actually tried some grinding, repeated some dungeons but thats not for me. Is there anything else im missing?

Thanks ahead for any ideas, im bored tonight and looking for something fun to do.

If your idea of fun is digging an Olympic size pool with a baby spoon, then you should try grinding a legendary. That’ is about the end of meaningful content imo.

DR bug.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nappychappy.7046

Nappychappy.7046

There is lots of emotion around this issue, specially when players experience differs to what is being stated. Each of us know someone who seems to have all the luck while we also know someone who seems to be hit with permanent DR. The game is less enjoyable for the person who seems to have permanent DR because it is not as rewarding for them than others around them.

Now I understand that the issue is still being investigated, but there is absolutely no confirmation of an issue except for statements saying they haven’t found an issue.

This has now been officially labelled an “X-files level conspiracy” which puts the issue up there with the yeti and UFO’s, but there is lots of evidence of a problem from players. From the new “loot chests” dropping junk to champions dropping nothing, these experiences are “outside” the expectations the patch notes give us.

Just look up gw2 farming on youtube, you will see that videos from 3+ months ago had a lot more loot drops than newer videos will have. Why do you think bots are now going after gathering nodes? When loot was good there was 50/70 bots at pent/shelter, now loot is bad and they teleport around gathering.

Other than adjustments to Orr rewards (as covered in the release notes) the only change made in this patch to over-all loot was allowing high level characters who are playing in lower level zones the opportunity to earn top level gear to provide greater rewards. (as also covered in the release notes)

There are no “stealth nerfs”, any changes will be covered directly in the release notes, of which there are none.

OK let’s go about this from another angle… How about you patched the game and it somehow changed the way loot drops?

To be fair, you accidentally made it so unidentified dyes dropped more than they should have through a patch error. What’s to say something like this didn’t happen to make [xlevelitem] hardly drop?

I mean after you fixed the “dye drop bug” it actually made getting unidentified dyes a rare drop, hell I used to get a couple per-day and after the fix maybe, MAYBE 1 a week.

You honestly going to tell me that I have just had a string of bad luck with RNG since that day, or since Nov. 15th?

Something smells fishy here guys…

The problem here, in my opinion, is that you played WoW for many years. Right there, that’s the issue. That’s great. You’re an expert. I played WoW too…and couldn’t continue to play it, because I didn’t like it. For all it’s popularity, WoW has turned off as many or more players than it appealed to.

In its MMO Manifesto, Anet made a claim. “If you like MMOs you’ll want to check out Guild Wars 2, and if you hate MMOs, you’ll REALLY want to check out Guild Wars 2”.

See, not everyone loves MMOs the way they are. So the people who DO like them are actually less qualified to comment on what’s going on in Guild Wars 2 than the people who don’t. And I don’t like the way MMOs were before. Guild Wars 2 is my main game and it’s an MMO I can finally play long term.

The very things you want to change, are things I don’t want to change. You’ve been programmed by WoW to think that an RPG (and this is an MMORPG) MUST be about gear. Gear, gear, gear. Loot, loot, loot. Phat Lootz. Ummm no.

Dragon Age was a pretty popular game, and wasn’t gear based. Skyrim was pretty popular and not gear based. These are RPGs. By making an MMO that really isn’t gear based, Guild Wars 2 has done the MMO genre a favor. Changing it to make it more like WoW would destroy everything that’s good about this game, and lose a lot of players in the process, including me.

You make another claim. You claim the community is shrinking. My experience is exactly the opposite. The community is growing.

What we’ve lost is the people who don’t get what Anet is trying to do here. And since you people have dozens of games to choose from, that’s fine. There are tons of games that cater to your style of play.

But Guild Wars 2, at this moment, is the ONLY MMO that caters to my style of play.

You may be an expert on WoW and MMOs, but you clearly don’t have much of an idea of what Anet is trying to do here, and why it would appeal to a huge subsection of the playerbase.

What about games pre-wow that have these features, even though they were not as pretty, or as popular? You people do know that WoW wasn’t the first mmorpg right?

It should have said:
“If you like console MMOs you’ll want to check out Guild Wars 2, and if you hate options, you’ll REALLY want to check out Guild Wars 2”.

Another great post that will soon be lost with all the other great posts.

@ Wookalar, WoW didn’t invent all the rich features it has, it took features and made them better, or added to them. When WoW had /lfg people wanted a group finder, it took them a long time to actually put it in, but they did eventually do it.

People wanted LFG/D/R – No one wants to jump on with 2 hours to play and spend an hour of that finding a group.

Information about monster abilities was made by Blizzard? Strange, I remember this way back with pnp, hell even Poke mon has something like this I think.

I am not 100% sure on this, but I think WoW is also going to use scaling pvp and perhaps jumping puzzles? Does that make WoW GW2? If so then all those features would be a great addition to this game, again.

For this being a purely cosmedic game, I don’t know why ANet doesn’t reward players accordingly for time spent. The constant barrage of slaps to the face make it extremely hard for people to get invested.

ANet has the right idea (lottery ticket loot system) but the rewards are scratch and win while the odds are based off Mega Millions.

Several little wins will keep you coming back, while 1 in 175,711,536. per run will not.

Flame & Frost fix anti-farm code?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nappychappy.7046

For those curious about what this forum is about

TL;DR. " when I kill something I want it to drop a rare/exotic because I think having every drop be worth money would make me rich, and just give me a legendary so I can make another post about how bored I’ve become now that I have nothing to work towards"

^
TL;DR “This is my first MMO AND THIS GAME IS HARDCORE – I ACTUALLY HAVE ALL EXO’s AND 2,350 ACHIEVEMENT POINTS!! (HATERS GONNA HATE!)”

My guess is that you have only recently hit 80, thus you can’t the difference from regular drop rate, or nerf’d drop rate.

The old drop-rates were much more realistic since you were rewarded for your time spent. Remember this game cost’s 60 dollars and then free to play there after, that means they need reward people for there time, otherwise they will run off and do something else. I have a feeling ESO will force ANet to raise drops once they have competition and right now they don’t so, who cares right?

While I farmed pent/shelter for my t3, I also only got 1 exotic drop @ 500 hours.

Believe me, I didn’t get rewarded with t3 with every mob I killed, but I did get reward for my time, something you don’t get at all now.

ANet is hell bent on you playing the gated game the way they want you to, even though they had clearly stated, “play the game you want to play”. The gem store was supposed to solve the gold seller problem by cutting out the middle-man, sadly it didn’t work surprise! So in order for them “hurt bots” they nerf’d the game entirely and in turn only punished people who play for a hobby vs. people who play for a living. Gold sellers still have the best currency to gold conversion rate and it is only making the problem worse.

Some people don’t like to buy reward, I am one of them, I like progression.

Progression:

  1. Glory.
  2. Laurels.
  3. Jumping Puzzles.
  4. Dynamic event’s.
  5. Dungeons.
  6. Crafting.
  7. Gathering.

If you need Badge of honor’s, well you go do jumping puzzles, need karma you go do event’s, need charged lodestones, you farm by design and on top of it they added anti-farm code. I hit DR’s in about 35 to 50 minutes.

Anyhoo I think when ESO comes out they will remove the anti-farm code to entice those on the fence, or gone already to return. Might work… But right now, there is no point of playing just to play, the game isn’t that great for me to feel special that I get to play it. Reward or GTKittenO.

Make or Break Time? Which Was It?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nappychappy.7046

Many people have been describing this update as a “make or break time” for this game. I agree, as the general feelings of newness are dissipating, this update could either have revitalized love for this game, its lore and its world or sent more people packing. Which was it for you?

For me: packing. Tired of this group concentrating their efforts on non-issues that weren’t broke and then breaking them. Tired of the promises of transparency, followed by the same old corporate double-speak. Tired of what has become obvious for so many: they have taken the promise of an excellent game and squandered it because they would prefer to force the cash from our hands as opposed to inviting us to spend it. Many changes, that seem to make no sense, make great sense when looked through the lens of, “they want more money”.

Great game shell, horrible decisions ruining it. Customers you drive away don’t buy any gems. Customers you drive away don’t recommend this game to their friends.

whoa whoa whoa. Hold the phone. Anet is done with releasing the patches already!? I could have sworn there were more to come in Feb and March. Guess I was wrong.

It’s amazing to me.

Been playing MMOs for a while now and so far Anet has released monthly content, something most devs promise but can never do. You always see “We are going to do something monthly!” Anet actually does and I don’t think it was one of their promises.

Meanwhile look at nearly every other MMO and their next big patch is coming “Spring 2013!” or “Soon!”

I don’t consider a gem store item, RNG gambling and some story notable content. Seriously what did this content patch bring? Something new for you to spend money on, a few nerfs, a few fixes and more moldy bags?

Granted they add “content” but it is so horrible, and so very limited. I can’t stand WoW anymore, but compare 5.2 to everything GW2 released since 3dhs and tell me how awesome this content is.

I would aasume those complaining about crafting arn’t anywhere near the level to make mithril ingots. That being said jute and copper are not only everywhere in the starter area(s) but can be purchased cheap off the TP, refined and then sold back in very quick order. Even the most adamant non-crafter could do this quicker than say killing 1 champion.

As for those of us that dislike WvW we seem to have been stuck with it as a monthly forever now – join the club.

I have been master crafter for ages, anyways I didn’t buy this game to play flip wars 2, I played when making 25-30 gold a day was possible by playing the game and now it has been reduced to buying low level mats / reselling a few pennies higher or by speed-running dungeons. OH JOY!!

Totally agree, sadly many cant see too far in front of their faces…I’m not seeing much need to continue playing with yet another grind (Laurels) and terrible loot drops still prolific in open world..

I think that the “been there done that” crowd can see it, we’ve played many mmo’s and are probably not part of die hard Anet fans. Personally I though GW1 was horrible. Beta +2.5 months of this game was fun, then the brick wall of nothingness.

The whole game isn’t end game, there isn’t really anything to work for, character building is so limited, story was mostly bad and not only that it was “personal” but had no personal effects.

Reminds me of a generic single player game, with an online option. Ever play White Knight Chronicles for ps3? Has a pretty lame story, some neat gameplay and terrible online play, even though at first it seems fun..

I can’t wait for something new, even if eso sucks, I’m playing it, can’t be any worse that’s for sure.

You dislike this game so much why do you hang around the forums tearing it down? Nothing but negativity from you.

Your question kind of answers itself.. “Why are you on the forums”.

If you like the game so much, why are you not playing it? I don’t think Anet needs you to defend them.

Yeah it can, especially since it’s an ES game, and that’s really easy to screw up if the developer starts cutting corners.

Oh you mean like this one?

Before the patch you have 75% to get 80lv item.
Check for “item”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-November-15-2012/first#post808152

That patch was -175% to get ANY item, now it’s only like +5% moldy bags.

People need to look up the definition of “rare”.
Exotics are even more rare than that.

If you got a rare every time you killed a champ it would no longer be “rare”

Rare is a bad description given to a low quality item, exotics are much better and can be purchased all day long – how rare and exotic eh? They need to drop “Fine” weapons and armor, no body wants them and they don’t sell for squat.

This game has so many useless bloat, like with all the new liquid karma taste/swig/jug ect.. People want rares for 1 thing, ecto’s, that is all, that is the purpose of a “rare” item, pathetic.

Just because something is “rare” doesn’t mean it’s good. Kids born with 6 toes on one foot are rare, but that doesn’t mean they’re better than all the other people out there. Rare is a descriptor of rarity and implies absolutely nothing about quality.

Item quality begs to differ.

In what way? Rare items are 3rd out of 6 on a quality scale (omitting junk and legendary tiers as junk cannot be equipped and legendary only exists for one item type and is equivalent to exotic). The quality scale implies that rare items are not very good.

Are you fully geared in basics?

Gem fee for Transferring Servers

Better than paying $15 per TOON transfer, like Blizzard do

I transferred when it was free, but I have no intentions of moving anyway.

Wait, how is it better? GW2 would cost 25 dollars to transfer to high pop. Also 32g isn’t easy for most people to get especially with DR’s keeping your grind session to about 35 minutes.

$15 PER toon.
This transfers ALL of your toons Besides, you’ve had plenty of time to realm change – Everyone knew that they were going to start charging gems to change. If you didn’t change beforehand with plenty of warning about this, why whinge when it actually gets implimented. If you weren’t on the realm you wanted to be on, knowing that they were going to do this, that’s your bad lol.

I’m not complaining on my behalf, I’ve already switched and returned to my server, though people who don’t follow anet on various sites, probably still have no clue. As for gw2 switching ALL your toons, that is a negative imo because now if I want to WvW with my friends in EU and US I have to then dump another 60 dollars and level another character, plus deal with 2 accounts. Anet is like a Chinese Buffet in the morning, sure its cheaper, but the choices suck.
