People play for loot. Why is there a separate gear type for enhanced loot? I’d assume most people want to do content, and get great loot. Not do great content for no loot.

Again, why is MF/Scavengers not something we can add to gear we already have? Actually why does this crap even exist? RNG on top of RNG with sprinkles of RNG doesn’t make an mmorpg fun, this isn’t a dungeon crawler, Mike O’ leave MF in the MPQ please.

Scavenger and Travelers should be a an armor enchant, another gold sink, but one that doesn’t upset/nerf your party. Instead of having just MF gear, have MF modified gear. Something like: helm, gloves, boots, 5 gold ea. – chest, pants, shoulders, 10 gold ea. – accessories ect 2 gold ea.

Your logic doesn’t make too much sense to me there.

Back on topic, I think that buying a legendary is a little ridiculous, but to each their own. If you have been playing and have that much gold, then good on you. Go ahead and buy your legendary. Unfortunately, people assume everyone who has that much gold made it through the gem store or gold sellers. Some might have, but I know a lot of people who play the TP and somehow end up with a kitten ton of gold. I’m pretty jealous of them.
That said, I probably wont buy a legendary ever unless I magically win a non existant lottery in GW and am given 3k gold. I think it would cheapen it for me.

Gathering tools and salvage kits. Not a time saver, they are clearly an advantage. These items have cost me more a month than a sub. So yeah, I rather pay 15 a month rather than 20/40.

People that have legendary’s started early off, you know before DR’s and this annoying loot bug, or whatever it is. Materials were never this scarce and don’t go blaming bots because when I did master crafter I farmed all but some ancient/seasoned wood on my first toon. Since then I have 2 more 80’s, a 46, 45, 31, 18 and and I am struggling to get these mats for just 1 crafting discipline on 1 character. No I don’t skip them, I look for nodes, after all its even more xp plus daily xp/karma.

I don’t care if the legendary took 2 years of BS tasks, jumping puzzles, badges of jumping, world completion, 10k achievement points, dungeon master, commander title, but kitten give me something to work towards, not against.

Can you imagine saving 100g, then when you go to buy the Commander title it takes your gold and gives you 50 locked mystic chests instead? I mean that pretty much sums up how you get a legendary.

This game is all of 4 months old, and the economy is garbage.

DPS and Aggro Meters.

I would like a personal dps meter for myself only, just because I’d like to improve on my play style, but it isn’t needed. You can easily tell if a group has good, or bad dps on your first pull. Threat would be helpful just so you know when you are about to get randomly destroyed, also like on kholer, when he charges up that scorpion-wire attack sometimes its extremely hard to see; however if he was charging that up and your threat went to max, you’d know its time to dodge.

ANet says they don’t want us to stare at the ui, they want it all to be visual … Yet the range finder is on the ui, pretty funny stuff in my opinion. Honestly they could make threat meter visual, but I doubt they could do so with a personal dps meter.

I got my Bifrost in mid November and I continue to play. I made 500 G in a week and a half during the Christmas break, and Dusk dropped for me yesterday. Now I can afford Sunrise and will get it within the week.

Getting another legendary was one of my goals and now that I’m going to get it I’ll move on to my next goals – get Flameseeker Prophecies

I am happy for you, unfortunately for me, I am not one of the few chosen ones who is blessed by the RNG gods. A lot of what the game has to offer, that I enjoy I have done it.

I wasn’t a huge GW1 fan, I don’t know squat about the lore, it’s “meh” at best imo. I skip most of the story in game, to me it’s pointless because the world/home doesn’t change (like they said it would) GW2 is great for people who are happy to pay 60 bux and play for years, I came from the time of pay to play and that still remains to be the superior model to me. This game is dictated by the gem store, no one is on equal footing, and the goals in this game can simply be bought outright.

Buying items to me is like cheating. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, select, start, = legendary.

What are we playing for? What is the goal? Fun right?

Why does anet ban exploiters? For getting something the easy way? For not grinding? For not buying gems? I am pretty sure that last one hits the nail on the head… The more money I spend, the less I like to play.

You have no idea what you are talking about. This game is not pay to win.

I said gated buy USD, and it is.

A horizontal gear grind is not “gating”. If you want to see “gating” try playing EA’s MMO, where they lock you out of ACTION BARS (LAWL).

You do not need to pay a cent after purchase to compete in any phase of this game. RM purchases lessen the horizontal (cosmetic) gear grind.

You have two choices. A) hardcore grinding offset that grind with money.

You seem to be under the delusion that servers are free to run. They aren’t. If things like legendaries were easy to obtain then they would have to get money from something else, like “stat bonuses”. This is what other f2p MMO’s do and it is why they fail. Gear doesn’t matter in GW2. The downside to that is that they have to pay for the servers in other ways. Anet’s solution is nothing sort of brilliant.

If they remove things like hard to get legendaries? They would have to do things like stat items, pay for play instance runs, tokens for WvW etc.

If you want a legendary? Stop whining on the forum and start farming, OR buy the precursor with RM.

If you think you are hampered or gated in pve/pvp because you don’t have a pixel? I just have to laugh. That might be the most insane thing I have read on these forums and that is saying a lot…

I am not under any delusion, I rather this be a pay-2-play, so I got the full game, the game is gated because of gems. Drop rate “bug” is more than a month old, but who cares BIG sale on gem store tomorrow!! How long did the dye drop “bug” last? ANet practically wipes botting out and yet we are still plagued with diminishing returns. I don’t mind working for my legendary and I don’t want it handed to me, but at least let me work for something. I’ve had 8 days off for the holidays, I farmed sparks every chance I got, and I have looted 2, around 300 shocking crystals, 1 rare and few pieces of junk. I have more corrupt/molten/destroyer/crystal lodestones from god knows where…

100 lodestones 394g, precurson 300-400g t6 mats 300g+ globs 300g+

15 a month sounds pretty kitten good at this point.

Edit** What’s hardcore have to do with getting a legendary that is nearly 100% farmed? You mean you have to be a hardcore botter? I have over 1,000 hours, nearly 4k achievement points, t3, master crafter, and a good chunk of my legendary complete… Am I still just a casual begging for handouts?

PS Stop putting words in my mouth, I am not talking about being “hampered in pve/pvp” We are supposed to be able to enjoy the full game without the gem-store, but really you can’t as you have pointed out many times “Buy with RM” honestly most of the game is getting extremely boring and I probably will stop playing after I get my legendary – regardless stop putting words in my mouth to make your argument sound better.

I helped my friend in his story, we had to fight a few vets, and 2 champions, they all dropped loot and the champions dropped greens. While leveling my alts, the vets and champions all drop loot… Wonder if they only updated the story mode loot…?

YouTube is full of proof of how loot used to drop, just need someone to record these events again now and show the difference.

I remember farming for my t3 cultural pieces (52g worth), took me two days @ pent/shelter, but now it takes an hour, or so to hit 75s. Running 6-10 events without having to sell off items is pathetic.

I don’t understand how they found and fixed the dye drop “bug” so fast and yet they need more proof than we can even fathom to produce, to acknowledge this one.

Do you realize how expensive these mats already are?

The very fact that you can buy a legendary makes it a welfare item, the fact that there is no challenge tied to it makes legendary a welfare item. The only thing legendary about the legendary is the grind, or USD spent on pixels.

It should take several things, from materials to challenges to make a legendary, something a tad more “hardcore” to qualify.

It would cost you thousands of dollars in gems to buy a legendary weapon. There are people with the means and some of them have the will, but that is a very small club.

Actually you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars, all you have to do is spend enough to get in the “tp game” and start flipping merchandise.

The people who got away with exploiting are probably the most vocal against people complaining about prices and drop-rates, since it would undermine their profits. Other than legendary being a neat skin, there is zero player skill, or dedication related to it. If the drop-rates were always as low as they are now, only people who dished out hundreds of gold would have them.

I know someone who has 2, and the third one they are working on is taking longer than the first 2 did.

You can convert t5 to t6 all day long, what can you do to make the precursor you want or the lodestones you want? Oh that’s right GRIND and even then, you might never even get the precursor, or the lodestones.

I remember Anet saying something about bring the mats used to craft boxes/satchels in line with crafting the set separately, though I don’t think it ever happened. Last I knew, the boxes/satchels were far to costly to even bother with, especially now that prices of materials have gone up.

I think its better to craft the items you need, use karma, or use dungeon tokens. I believe boxes/satchels were a complete fail from the start.

Only concern would be people abusing this system to finish PVE at virtually no travel cost and at 50-75% faster rate then those who have to run everywhere. o.O

I don’t quite follow, how can you exploit and use this system to “finish PvE”?

It would only work from overflow LA to the world. Remember that when you are in overflow, any waypoint that can be contested WILL show as contested. So choices are limited from LA overflow.

Reason why it should be free, is because traveling from overflow costs about 2s more than it does traveling from your server. If you run out of town to avoid the cost you then suffer an extra loading screen.

I wouldn’t normally complain about the loading screen, but the loading screens in this game have only gotten longer since beta, release, and now after the holiday.

SSD doesn’t even help a little.

There is no reason to pay more to travel, if you are not in overflow, then you don’t travel free, but you can go where you want. When you travel for free, the options are naturally limited.

They are already suffering the wrath of casuals, and those who spend stupid amounts of money for these items will eventually dry up do to new games, or bored of buying legendary items. My opinion, at this rate they will drive off both big spenders and casuals. Even the huge fans of GW1 are disappointed in the game in its current state. I had a feeling how this game would be simply because its B2P, or in other words F2P. I knew that the support would be bad, that the content would be meh, and that “soon after release” features would be 6 months to a year long wait. I like this game, but it is so limited on things to do.. Well other than to do the things Anet said wouldn’t be in this game.

Since we cannot see our servers WP from Overflow map, make it free to leave. The loading screens in this game seem to get longer and longer, I don’t want to load into a city just to wait, then load into it again in 1-5 minutes later, just so I can go to x location that isn’t contested. It’s not fair to charge players twice because of overflow =/= server differences.

Time is money, but no matter how you do it from a overflow its going to cost more than it should.

I’d like to see the legendary shift away from people buying gold whether legit via gems, or other means. Legendary’s should be centered around the skill and dedication of the player, rather than the ability to spend money, and loads of time farming. The way it is now, eventually everyone will have a legendary since every day tasks are what make a legendary ( gold/karma, drops, dungeons and leveling) I think the legendary should be a step up from the mundane everyday tasks.

Like say an old wizard resides on top of a jumping puzzle, once there he asks you a series on questions, based on those questions you choose what weapon you’d like to get, and then he would send you on a mission to do x-y-z then return, after every completion of x-y-z mission the jumping puzzle gets more complex as do the missions he sends you on. At the end of the chain he gives you the components to make the legendary of choice where you then go to the Mystic forge and craft it. Maybe even make a server wide announcement of your legendary status.

Add a twist, the Wizzard is Zormos and the jumping puzzle is inside the forge. XD

I’d love to see a dps meter that only we can see. I think it would help with player improvement and to the people thinking all the players would live and die by the meter.. I highly doubt it, fights in this game are rarely tank and spank. Dodging resurrecting, healing would eat into your dps, but what it would do is give people a personal goal to be more efficient.

Keep failing on a boss? The numbers don’t lie, but if only the player can see his output, maybe they could change their approach and be that 5th player it takes to down the boss.

I know plenty of people who’ve gotten their Gift of Battle entirely from jump puzzle rewards. Honestly, I think the WvW jump puzzles should give less badges than they do now because legendary weapons are supposed to be about mastering every aspect of the game (not saying that it actually is in its current state).

Since we are basing this on opinions, I think the legendary should both be completed by crafting and legendary difficulty solo ‘missions’ and that the ‘missions’ test your knowledge of your class. Farming materials for month isn’t very “legendary”. Also I think that the jumping puzzles should have no badges at all, badges should drop off invaders. Cheaters you say? Anet doesn’t have no problems slapping DR’s on PvE, why not add DR’s to PvP, so you couldn’t just kill your friend/s over and over for badges. I rarely see the same invader twice, why are we stuck with .. As dontain said it best – “Badges of Jumping”?

1: Your not level 80 – Population is top heavy

2: Many places that give rewards are not lower level content, they are dragons/dungeons.

3: Dungeons are instanced and not open world so the players won’t show.

4: There is no real reason to go back aside from 100% the game

5: Orr is really “farm zone” so 80’s chill there

6: The game was meant to be pick up/put down compared to games like WoW so players are – Doing just that (they get exotic set and quit).

Most important – All post WoW games have a drop off. Get used to it, the genre itself is dying.

This is probably the most accurate explanation to be had. I agree to all, but 5, and only because Orr has really died off lately. Most people I see are in LA, or standing in front of what ever dungeon doing “LFG” spam.

TOTP is specified in an RFC, at all works the same. This is more like “there’s an option but I don’t use it because I don’t like it but prefer to be hacked”. If ANet ever offers an authenticator, it’ll probably be just another branded GO 6. I’d try if it really works if I could just find mine. I don’t know if Blizzard removed the Multi OTP option from their one button devices, otherwise anybody actively using one could also use it for GW2.

If they offer it, they support it. If I have a problem while they don’t support it, I am SOL.

Gold leaves the economy yes, but gold should NOT buy rank. You should earn it in PvP by doing PvP related things. Not gained by spending a “trivial” amount of gold. If you take the time to earn commander and you suck at it, then that is your loss, but when you just buy commander and suck at it, that is our loss.

Again, I don’t care about making gold, but being able to obtain commander with gold.

No new money no, but it’s slowly draining the economy. It’s not a person to person transaction, it’s 100’s of people buying gems, and one person buying the gold. The rich keep getting richer. However I don’t care about the rich getting richer, it’s the fact that they can buy things that have no right being sold. Commander should be something earned by other means, ones that show you know your kitten in WvW or PvE.

I wish this was P2P game. Sucks that everything revolves around the Cash shop, they wont change the way it works because money = gem = gold = commander. Where if it was p2p then it would be ‘x achievement’ + ‘this and that’ = commander.

So then it is pay to play?
(It’s very easy to get 100g without needing to buy gems, btw )

Pay 2 play, in a B2P game is pretty kitten close to Pay 2 Win.

Any ways, I am not complaining about how to make gold, my problem with this is you can simply buy it, and not earn it. I’d like to see you make 100g in WvW, actually participating in WvW, not playing PvE, or the Trading Post. For PvE, who cares, but it has no place in PvP/WvW.

I have two level 80’s and working on my third. I think in total I have picked up 3 keys off mobs, and I have over 240 BLC. I have gotten more than enough junk from BLC with those and the ones from 100% maps and gold to gem purchases.

Chests are crap, better off to buy the items you want.

Yeah, I know as soon as my friends get hacked, and lose everything they will also quit. I will of course follow, because when they don’t play I find myself bored standing around in LA.

I don’t know why account restoration isn’t a feature built in and ready to go, absolutely baffled by this. Security in this day and age is a must, even though Anet doesn’t technically offer a service, as soon as one uses RMT they should have to protect the users, with either physical device, or electronic based. paid for/free options.

The key chain authenticator was a rumor, a popular rumor might I add, yet ANet doesn’t even offer it after release, not even after mass account hacks.

Incompetent.

I lean towards compromise on this one.

They already have speed boosters that increase your run speed by x amount for a certain amount of time. How hard would it be to create a speed booster that increased your run speed for x amount of time and gives you the appearance of riding a dolyak, for example, while out of combat?

You mean like pay to win runs peed via cash shop? No thanks.

I mean if you are going through the trouble of adding a speed booster for pvp, and a cosmedic mount to that, why not just add a mount?

imo mounts are a bad idea, though I think they could work with restrictions.

Can only be used on paths/roads, going off path will automatically dismount player. If road or path ends you will also be dismounted. Be cool if there was a large plain where you could be mounted, and your mount has it’s own skills such as speed boost, block and joust. XD

I don’t know, ANet is trying to be a mold breaker, but a lot of the features, or lack of features is either extremely out dated, or already done better by another game.

I hope they do something soon, the population seems to shrink every day, events are harder to complete than ever and events that were once popular are ruined by DR’s – Slowly getting pushed back to a game I’ve already played 6 years, but lets me play for a long as I wish without punishment.

There is another way to use the app via your computer, but like me, that wont do either. I want a key chain authenticator, I don’t want to have to deal with issues, just push a button, get the code and type it in. SIMPLE!

But yeah, if I get hacked, that will be the end of GW2 for me. The fact that they don’t offer a key chain authenticator is the reason I haven’t spend a red cent on gems. No security for me, no money from me. Pretty simple stuff.

The other side to consider is that extensive experience participating in content doesn’t make one a leader, either.

Leadership cannot be purchased, it can only be demonstrated. Leaders will make themselves known through their actions. The blue blip on the map is a tool, nothing more. You can unlock that blip through PvP, WvW, random loot in a Black Lion chest, or for spending a large sum of money and it won’t be related in any way to your qualifications when it comes to leading people.

So you buy the game, unlock weapon skills and jump into WvW. You have no guild, no friends, but whats this? A blue blip? I must need to go here.

Now you know blue blip is an idiot, and now you ignore blue blips – Great feature.

I only agree if they strip commander from everyone who has gotten it so far and refund them their 100g back. I’m getting tired of seeing changes that favor people who rushed to the end early. There would be nothing fair about having 300-400 commanders who bought their way to their position and then forcing everyone who comes after them to work their fingers to the bone in WvW to get the same thing.

I agree, the whole “buying convenience items only” has gotten out of control with the gems = gold scenario. Is it a convenience buying gems to get 100g? Even more to the point, why does money play a role in PvP? How does gold make one a good commander? Deep pockets = skilled player?

ANet is constantly back peddling on what they have said for the all mighty dollar. I rather pay a flat fee per month to have the same level of fairness of those who have disposable income.

We all spend the same, and we all work for the same. Not “I paid 200 dollars and I deserve this!”

I was very disappointed when I found out that you don’t actually say “Yarr!”. Actually for the longest time I thought it was broke, talking to someone in Orr, I said “It sucks you never say Yarr!” They said, nah, you say for great justice… /sadface.

I agree.

I wish this was P2P game. Sucks that everything revolves around the Cash shop, they wont change the way it works because money = gem = gold = commander. Where if it was p2p then it would be ‘x achievement’ + ‘this and that’ = commander.

This suggestion for Druid is very vague and I don’t think shapeshifting into animals is interesting at all.

I have a better idea.
Give Rangers the ability to not have a pet and instead have druidic abilites, somewhat like in GW1.
Rangers already have attacks inspired by animals.

No, nope, that doesn’t sound arrogant at all…

Ranger is fine as a ranger, no need to change professions that are fine. Why are people so against new professions, but perfectly okay with changing existing skills that would do the same thing as the new profession? I’d hate for my existing professions to be balled up in all these new skills for the sake of not adding new professions.

If they can have a elementalist coexist with a necromancer, why couldn’t a druid coexist with a ranger? Why not change the weapons if you use a sickle you’re a necro, or if a staff a ele? Because that is stupid, that’s why!

Anyways I’m not much for druids, but I am not against the idea.

Maybe you should seek a game that waits for you, nearly everything non-mmo does this. You could always give your kids up for adoption, divorce your wife and quit your job, ya’know since you make it sound like those people have it made.

I enjoyed the MK dungeon, the rest was boring imo, also rewards vs the RNG sucked. It’s a once a year thing and you made it a grind-fest-gold-sink RMT event.

You should have given weapons skins a higher drop rate and exotics with low drop rate, just give the exotics better particle effects.
