So uh, where do you people get all this gold? I’ve struggled since post-karka era. Do you guys just spend a few hundred RM? Or play TP? I can’t stomach dungeons anymore… Just curious..

On topic: I don’t understand anets approach to legendary’s, I really don’t. Well I understand it now since we are being funneled into the gemstore, but originally, before DR’s ect.. I am at a loss.

Travel to main towns should be free... or not

Should also be free from overflow since you have to travel twice 9 out of 10 times and it costs more to travel twice. 3s to orr from la, but in overflow everything that can be contested shows as contested even though it isn’t, 3s plus another 2s all because of overflow.

TC post was exactly what I expected in the PVE content of GW2 end-game.

Yet, they pushed the “war” to WvWvW with no relation to the PVE world.

GW2 end-game would’ve been strong if they did it that way.

Do people know one of the main reasons why GW2 has low player concurrency?

There’s no competitive PVE content between players.

GW2 made it in a way there’s no way to compete for anything. Everyone is equal.

Have anyone seen any multi-player (board/cards/video games) with no winners & losers?

In every MMORPG, no matter how different, there’s ways to lets players feel special.

This is why every MMORPG kept the elitism system.

Without it, GW2 isn’t a game as a “MMORPG”.

GW2 merely a console single player game with multi-player add-in + separate PVP irrelevent world.

There’s no “world” inside that progresses among the players.

From the latest blog post, their so called “living world” they kept emphasizing only directs towards players towards PVE/AI/NPCs. They misinterpret players past feedback by having a “world” for GW2.

It’s a dead world as a MMORPG.

I’m not talking about MMO. I’m talking about MMORPG.
MMO is the whole genre. MMORPG is a sub-category genre.

It’s a great game as a single-player online game for a group (PVE players) and a multi-player PVP game for another group (PVP-action players). GW2 being just a general MMO is great too. However, it’s still very far of being a MMORPG.

The devs must do more research towards what makes MMORPG addictive/fun to attract the majority of the real mmorpg players. If GW2 wants to become a real MMORPG, I expect to see more improvements for GW2.

I don’t see the innovation of GW2 becoming a revolutionised mmorpg. I see GW2 is merely RPG genre cut to 1/3 and added 2/3 of adventure + action genres elements. This pushes the mmorpg genre backwards.

I went from playing every day to only logging in every other day and now maybe twice a week for 3-5 minutes, maybe – MAYBE to do a daily.. This game is casual one day and hardcore the next, depending on the argument. I also like how its “B2P” because subscriptions are an “old and tired model”; however 15 a month in this game is a drop in the bucket if you are trying to do anything more than run in circles killing mobs for no reason.

Everything that keeps players playing was removed (or never added), and everything players enjoy about a fantasy game was shifted to the gem store. The new content page is plagued with new an fun grind… I don’t understand the direction of this game at all and everything they said, that got me to buy in early was a flat out lie.

I think most servers look dead mainly because of the culling problem (whatever it is that limits the distance you can see players) The problem wasn’t in beta, but showed up soon after release and hasn’t been talked about much outside the WvW crowd.

Depends on what you like. I tried to like Necro and the Necro I have started is one of my oldest characters, but is only level 31. I’ve made 4 80s, and a 46 with no desire to play my Necro at all.

I want to play a Zelda game now for some reason.

And no I don’t think there are any hearts in the WvW zones.

I thought this was about Zelda, only reason why I clicked it…

Chances are the hearts you are looking for, you are simply over looking. Best way to find the hearts you need is to pull up a map online, and compare the maps zone by zone (helpful to have a tablet) but alt-tabbing works too.

In-game map, for whatever reason has to many common colors and the heart outline sometimes blends into the surrounding areas; however a screenshot oddly enough the hearts stick out like a sore thumb.

karma for legendary precursor

Karma isn’t a bad idea until you make all your clovers and buy another 250 obsidian shards, then it starts looking like a crappy idea unless you love WvW.

DE’s are not something that people do a lot of these days, so you’re looking at 2/3 million karma from pent/shelter and that 10-15 minutes of waiting for 2 events.

To be fair to ANet, Colin did state in a recent post that for Jan/Feb/Mar they are looking at including a lot more new content in existing maps. I haven’t read the KTR article, but if the author was using Southsun Cove as his example, that’s a flawed perspective; Southsun Cove is far from finished, and ANet has said they will be adding more content to it.

I really loved the launch of this game, 400 hours of solid entertainment. Sadly it has gone down hill and is snowballing out of control. This game needs tonnes of fixes, tonnes of content, tonnes of reward for PLAYING and meaningful gemshop items, not just a shortcut to legendary items, but at this point I think it’s one of those kitten if you do, kitten if you don’t situations for Arenanet.

It’s interesting that Nappychappy mentions WoW. A boxed game with a $15/mo sub AND a cash shop.

A cash shop that sells cosmedic items only and doesn’t nerf the economy so that people turn to the cashshop to progress in the game.

Salvage has been nerf’d.
World Drops have been nerf’d.
Chests have been nerf’d
Dyes have been nerf’d.
Does MF even work?

What has been added for the players? Fractals, what hasn’t been nerf’d? Fractals, what is needed to progress in fractals? Gold, where do you get gold? Gem Shop, where do you get 250 globs of ecto? Gold, where do you get gold? Gem shop.

You like to play in the open world? That is all you get, an open world. You want reward for playing in the open world? It’s going to cost you gold, but you can’t make gold playing in the open world so – Gem shop.

You wanna play like a gold farmer for gold, fine, but know this, you will be punished with endless anti-farm coding.

15 dollars a month is a discount compared to this model.

I’d rather pay a sub.

15 a month is a ton cheaper than what I paid thus far, but ANet will keep individuals wealth down to enforce gem purchases with RMT. So I can see prices getting much worse, gems will yield more gold, but even more gold will be required to achieve any game-related goals and new players will be forced out of the game unless they to participate in RMT.

Let’s be honest for a minute here.. It’s not fun to just play a game, just playing gets boring awfully fast.

I hope ESO is half as good as WoW and sub-based, I will be jumping ship.

One of my friends does. Every month he buys $10 worth of gems.

10 dollars is worthless in Gw2, takes 20 dollars, or more to pick up a few runes. I am not giving ANet money just so I don’t have to play the game, I want to play the game, but it’s either you pay, or go with out.

I think I should start a “Hyperbole Wall” where I collect statements like:
- “GW2 is such a grind”
- “Worst purchase I ever made in my life.”
- “Played for 500 hours and thinking of quitting ALREADY!”

I played the beta. I bought the game on launch day. Loved it then, still love it now. Pretty sure it’s the same game, unless somebody hacked my computer and swapped the files with Maple Story.

Sorry you don’t like the work ANet has been doing lately, but obviously it’s still good enough to keep playing, or none of us would be here.

Or perhaps you’re a fanboy, how about the tip of an ice burg?

yeah but 8c worth or needles is better than no copper, my bet is that if ANet had every mob drop some sort of loot it would be like 1-2 copper drops and 1 in a 1,000 for a green, which it’s close to now anyways.

Okay i was so hyped up for the release of this game i played the first Beta weekend. Got 3 days early access heck i even watched the countdown for the games release. I pretty much played this game to Death until i got bored. I never got to lvl 80 tho because i heard the end game wasn’t so fantastic. So here i am lvl 65 in the 60-70 zone with not 1 soul around i cant do any events and hearts take a long kitten while to complete solo. So here im thinking …what happened to all the people that were roaming Tyria doing events hearts etc the world feels dead. I really hate to say it but i just needed to make a topic … My guild is pretty active but there is hardly no one in world. So ive come to the conclusion i can no longer play. :/

PvE isn’t dead, but it is most definitely hurting. I have 4 level 80’s. I pushed hard for my first 80, rushed to the end, farmed gold for t3, got world completion, did tonnes of events.

Fast forward a bit, leveled my ele, almost all zones were dead, pre-crafting nerf I got a lot of my levels crafting and Orr was just about dead, but PoG was still being completed regularly. My thief, completely empty world, again leveled jeweler/LW pre-nerf plus WvW. This last Friday I got my guardian to 80, probably 10-15 people at pent/shelter, did plinx with 1 other person and Melandru which took roughly an hour+ getting enough people asking in LA/guilds/LFM in Orr

WvW, FotM, Dungeons is what people do now, no reason at all to explore, or do events else where.

It breaks immersion when a kill doesn’t yield any drops at all. I don’t care if it’s under 10c profit.

I guess one man’s immersion is another man’s complete waste of bag space. I don’t really want to run over and loot every corpse, just to accumulate another stack of useless vendor trash.

“It breaks immersion?” What does that even mean? Like, why can’t I loot every corpse, regardless of whether I did any damage? Why doesn’t every dead lizard yield 24 teeth, 300 scales, 20 pints of blood, 16-20 claws, a complete set of internal organs, and a skeleton’s worth of bones? Heck, why isn’t Tyria’s surface made up entirely of the dead bodies of various animals and bandits? Doesn’t it break immersion to see bodies just vanish all of the sudden?

Because GAME MECHANICS, that’s why.

Just because a mob has loot, doesn’t mean you have to pick it up. Your loss.

Fix Charged Lodestones prices

The amount of charged lodestones needed for Mjolnir is OVER HALF of the GLOBAL STOCK.

There’s 719 in the TP currently.
You need 350.

After my 4,000th visit to Lion’s Arch, I do not need to see the “You’ are in the Overflow” prompt everytime I join. Instead, just make the word “Overflow” on the minimap bold and yellow or something — the modal popup window is a nuisance.

My favorite part is when you go to reply to someone as soon as you load into LA, and only about 10 characters come up randomly before you start jumping and opening all your ui options ect…

This. Guild Wars 2, the game that existed before November 15th, is not the same as GW2, the game that came after November 15th. That’s why people are mad.

As for the lack of subscription and it being a “risk” to themselves… I would be exceptionally surprised if they could have come even remotely close to the income they’ve gotten from their cash shop by using a subscription based system. Some of the folks on here have put ridiculous amounts of money into that, and continue to do so just to convert gems -> gold.

Who here thinks every enemy should drop something?

I’m not asking for more armor and weapon drops. Just 1 to 3
trophies on each enemy who does not drop mats, armor and weapons.

Agreed! I went back to WoW recently cause a friend gave me a WoW Warchest with 30 days of play time so every once in a while I go play and the first thing I noticed is that every mob drops something. I killed mobs and at the least I got a couple of copper and at best a green item.

Why can’t Anet allow their mobs to do the same? The lack of drops and DR make farming ridiculous! I’d like to make Mjolnir but thats wickedly hard right now as I can’t get Charged Cores much less Charged Lodestones to drop. And I don’t play the TP so I’m not crazy rich to go out and buy 350 Lodestones. Anet needs to do something.

I’ve played WoW since release and every mob does NOT drop something. I don’t know where you’ve gotten that idea.

Correct! Not every mob drops something, but you can at the very least turn a profit for your time spent. In gw2 travel cost and an hour of playing (not farming) you will probably travel back to LA with less coin than what you left with.

This game is really weird because it focuses on the casuals, but requires hardcore play schedules to get ahead. People play for fun, but they also want to make a “cool” character, something this game doesn’t offer in the open world.

Everything should drop at least 1 thing that makes sense to be dropped (feather, skull, coins) and then something from the loot table(which should also make sense, but i don’t mind if I get a precursor off of a quaggan kill..)

As for WvW, every single player kill should drop 1 badge of honor. It doesn’t make sense that only some do and some drop multiple and then the next 2 hours or so you don’t get a single one. This is just another annoying RNG aspect added to legendaries.

They really screwed up on Badge of Honor drops. I mean really, get a badge of honor for avoiding combat and jumping around to get a treasure chest?

I get it, they did this so people wouldn’t exploit the system, but as game developers this should have been considered in the design to prevent it from happening. Not only that, the fact that it takes forever and a day to run across the maps, so you couldn’t exactly “farm” badges, killing your friend on another server over and over.

Also the bag drop is bad, why not auto loot to the inventory?

Fix Charged Lodestones prices

I got 3 charged lodestones today, my new personal 1 day record – but the 2 others I was running with for that 90 minutes both got zilch. This is after something close to a week long dry spell of getting nothing despite 1-3 hours of farming per day. Its brutal out there.

I gave up about a week ago. During the holidays I had 9 days off, I spent as much time as I could farming charged lodestones and I have 3 total, 2 drops 1 from clover misfire. I farmed with friends, guildies and solo.. Heck the shocking crystals don’t even drop that often and that’s usually how I pay for my travel costs.

ANET gave me the most brutal birthday present ever… NOTHING!!!!

Where's the Scavenger Hunt post?

Hey guys,

Just a quick update on where the whole scavenger hunt system stands since I know that’s a topic many of you have brought up recently. We’re not currently actively working on building any sort of legendary precursor scavenger hunt, this is something we want to do in the future and we’re in the midst of designing how this would function, but no one is actively building this feature and you should not expect in the Jan/Feb/March releases at this point.

We are however working on expanding reward systems to make them more re-rewarding across all parts of the game, making the open world more rewarding, and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.

Some of these additions will come as early as the January release, and will get covered in more detail in the next week or two as well release all the details about this release once testing has signed off it’s all ready to go in January. (we’ll also provide a high level summary of our goals with reward systems, etc. in our 2013 blog post, which should be out next week)

Is ANet going to see any projects all the way through? I swear I just seen the same reply about the smart phone app “delayed”. The scavenger hunt that someone was working on is “delayed” … (scrapped).

What about diminishing returns, will that ever be removed?
Has ANet found “concrete proof” that the drop rates have tanked after Nov. 15th?

They just need to add a lot more high level Lightning Elementals strewn across the surface of Tyria and the problem will take care of itself.

That wouldn’t help honestly. The drop rate is ridiculous no matter the number of mobs that can drop charged lodestones. Take a look at the TP, it’s not like there isn’t a lot to be had, but the sellers refuse to drop the price because they are so hard to get do to the new drop rate. Just like ecto’s, I haven’t gotten 3 ecto’s from a rare/exotic in a couple of months now, I usually get 1, if luck 2. Look at the price, nearly 30s ea. and the TP is chuck full of ecto’s. ANet needs to restore loot and salvages back to what they were at launch.

I read that there is a 20% success rate in the Mystic Forge using rares, or exotics, either way you are still looking at 80% failure rate on all attempts. If you want a 100% chance, your best bet is to buy 1,000 dollars worth of gems, and buy it off the trading post.

What are you, a Cyberman? ANet will beat WoW by making Guild Wars 2 better, not the same.

WoW was great because it took all the good from the bad. Anet is taking all the bad from the good. I don’t think we need mounts, or add-ons, but LFD is needed, pretty sad when the community has to make an LFD system, LFD should have been in day 1.

Horrible idea.

As some others have already stated, the OP thinks replayability comes from grind. Instead of asking for more content so people would have fun and thus want to play the game more, he’s asking for more grind so people would be willing to play content that is not fun more.

Hearts are probably the worst content in this game. They were designed as tutorials to force players to see dynamic events and understand how those are the core of the open world game. Rewarding people for repeating hearts over and over, considering how boring, easy and mindless they are, is rewarding the worst kind of player in the game for doing the worst kind of content in the game.

WoW understands it and puts such tokens everywhere for mounts/minis. A way to keep busy those who don’t like repetitive dungeons. And it works.

WoW is dying. All WoW clones are dead or dying. The classic MMO model, focused on grinders and addicts, is not cutting it anymore.

WoW is dying like an infant, gw2 dying is like an old man with cancer.

The difference is WoW is still full of life, and since Blizzard takes good ideas from other games it offers more fun. GW2 tries so hard to be different it shuns every good idea and leaves the players with nothing fun to do.

Also, people love grind. It is a system in which rewards players for time. CoD has grind, people prestige multiple times, why? Prestige is character building. It’s fun to those who enjoy the game, because time = reward. In GW2 time doesn’t mean anything, it means that you will get less reward, it means reward is payed for with gems.

Play less, pay more.

GW2 doesn’t even try to compete with other IP’s player time. This is very bad, and some how they keep making it worse. I loved this game, now it’s just in between game until something better comes along, which sucks because I had such high hopes. I know gw2 will do well because people like to play for nothing and this being AAA title, no complaints; however those people don’t spend money either.

Definitely isn’t a game for me, I like to “earn” what I get, not buy it. What’s the point of playing if you buy a legendary, complete the story and explore the world?

It depends on the requirements. As long as the yearly achievement is not structured to take a year to complete, it would not be a problem. If players were expected to play for a full year or even close to a year, an issue arises:

Not many people aside from children and the unemployed would be able to invest this much time. Most careers have periods of growth and crunch periods, as well as post-secondary programs. The holidays are also a time that many people prefer to spend with old friends and relatives that they have not seen in a while.

If such an achievement would take say, six months, that would give enough wiggle room to allow completion.

John, this game is plagued with DR’s, yearly would probably take every bit of 6 months game time. Imagine the reward for the completion, then imagine the hoops you’d have to jump through. You would have to have nothing, but time, to complete a yearly. Anyone working 5-8 hours a day, the yearly would be nothing but a pipe-dream. I am currently struggling to get my FotM completed, and have only done 1, or 2 daily’s in the last week.

Having fun with people you know and forget about the big carrots at the end of everything you do.

There is no carrot, just a big empty hook. Most people I know, who have the game, also know as well.

This is something I expect to see on a subscription based mmo’s forum really.

I doubt the problems you experienced will be fixed, so this game probably isn’t for you.

You’re right, they probably wont be fixed, even though Anet has taken out a great deal of bots, I supposed the DR’s are far to profitable.

TL;DR: Grind is the worst kind of replayability. Ask for better replayability, this game actually has the means to provide it.

Grind is why we play, it really is. If you don’t want to grind, you don’t want to play.

Leveling is a grind, hearts are a grind, having no endgame is a grind, holding a button to move forward is a grind. Instead of making boring grind, like we currently have, add fun grind and for fox sake how about some reward for this grind?

Personally I like to grind, I don’t mind killing 1 type of mob in a zone for hours, there is always the chance on that 1 lucky drop (in most games) in this one, nadda, oh and on top of it you get punished for “grinding” via diminishing returns because apparently the Chinese sell gold for less than ANet, hence the problem persisting.

I miss having fun, but this game is all about the all mighty dollar, I knew it was going to be like this because “no sub fee” aka "the money has to come from some where and all those people who say 15 dollars a month is a ripoff, I spent well over 15 every month I have played just to have pocket change.

I can’t say I am surprised at the model, but the lack of fun things to do is even more limited because of the anti-grind approach. 1 dungeon path a day, or do it 3 times for nothing. Kill mobs at 2 events until nothing drops, then go else where and do the same. Kill dragons for 3 silver and a green.

LA is Orgrimmar 2.0, stand in town spamming LFG, or waiting on your guild to do something, huge world hindered by OP event systems that don’t scale and more diminishing returns.

They used to be more plentiful right after launch, now days jp is the best way.. sadly..

Badge of jumping, tis not very fun to do every day, ya’ know like it would be actually participating in PvP for those badges.

Master All Crafting Disciplines

Create Two Legendaries

Complete 4 Bajillion Dynamic Events

Play 100,000 hours without dying in WvW.
Complete all Jumping puzzles without getting the chest.
Kill Shatterer, Teq, Jormag 500 times each.
Kill 1,000 mobs without looting
Acquire 500g with out a weapon

I can see it now in the patch notes… If we are lucky it will be in January’s patch, then add to it in Feb.

Yes, that is exactly what Anet sold me, an anti-fun mmo. I am taking a hiatus until they remove DR’s and improve the loot from events and mobs.

This game is so limited by design it’s to hard to play, unless you have hours and hours to play it at one time. Tonight I went to CS, hardly anyone at pent/shelter so I was already out 7s for travel fees (from LA and back)

I did melandru, long story short it took an hour an I got 4 blues and 2 greens. I didn’t have fun, and now I don’t even want to play any more.

So anet, if you want any more of my money, fix this crap.

I’d imagine they would have to actually fix the guild list / friends list first. I mean both those lists drop my frames 25-30fps upon opening, could you image what they would do to a phone? I donno, something about that data…

Nights are not long enough to be a problem, I don’t see how making night actually dark would be a problem and it would definitely be nice for WvW if night were to also remove name-plates.

But….in Darkhaven, all of our good WvW guilds left AFTER THE FIRST LOSS. There is no server dedication.

However, I want to make sure guesting is something that isn’t going to be completely buggy. So….sigh…take your time. Q.Q

But yeah, I agree, weather needs to happen even if an event doesn’t. I miss a good ole thunderstorm or light rain on a nice after noon to break up the SSDD syndrome.
