When there are things that depend on 100% map completion…then “not doing it” is a penalty that is unnecessary.
The only thing you miss out on by not doing 100 % map completion is the Gift of Exploration and I’d like that to have a value.
Don’t call me ignorant because you want everything for free. How is it free when I’ve already completed those maps at least once? Check the definition of free maybe? You may want to check the definition of everything while you are at it, because that is one thing. In fact, if you are having this much trouble with definitions…you may want to just buy yourself a dictionary lol.
what would you expect to happen if you were to walk into a store and pick up an item and walk out with it? “But i’ve bought one of these before! it’s not like i’m getting it free!”

What if certain WPs were flagged account bound – zone entrance, dungeon access, maybe world boss ones?
Legendary is no better statwise than ascended, which merely requires a maxed crafting discipline.
Ascended itself is only a bare margin beter than exotic.
8pm on friday if you’re in new zealand.
or…
Turn the teleport to friend items into a ‘waypoint calibration stone’ which allows you to imprint someone else’s essence into a waypoint you have unlocked, unlocking it for them too.

Kittens are cute. Even the most hardened internet denizen has a soft spot for kittens. :-pThe filter words in the German, French, and Spanish official forums are different.
In German, the word is “Liebsche” (a term of endearment roughly equivalent to ‘honey’)
In French, it is “papillon” (butterfly)
In Spanish, it is “minino” (the more harmless form of the word ‘kitten’ in Spanish)
The goal for these filter words is to diffuse the abrasiveness and take the bite out of posts containing profanity.
The irony of course being that us hardened forumites now use kitten as a curse word, even in our daily lives XD
You should have thought of this before you picked a bad word as your name.
I’m chuckling because some of you don’t like doing the hearts. Personally, I don’t mind the hearts at all. Sure, they can be a bit grindy, but that’s ok. For me, it’s the vistas. I’d gladly do double, even triple hearts if I could just avoid those gawd-awful vistas.
Heck, I’ll even take the vistas that don’t require jumping. Give me an odd path or winding road to get to the vista and I’m ok. Add in jumping and my jaws get tight. Vistas and jumping should be divorced. Period.
Honestly, the prospect of having to do jumping vistas again is the one thing that has completely turned me off of doing World Completion/Map Completion a second time. I may not even be able to complete it once, because there are several vistas that I just. can’t. get. to. I wish I’d known that before I started making the attempt.
And that makes me sad, because I truly enjoy exploring. It’s just about my favorite activity in GW2.
I’m on the fence about this On the one hand, i do like jumping puzzles (and am good at them) and the vista ones are normally non-frustrating (apart from the ones that are part of or at the end of actual jumping puzzles) but i’m not sure whether i feel that doing jumping puzzles really needs to be a part of world completion.
And charge them 1G per WP unlocked.
You know, you may have stumbled on a solution.
Let us use waypoints unlocked by any character on our account – just at an extortionately high cost.
When you unlock it on that character, the price goes down to the normal rate.

Not entirely on topic, but i haven’t seen it mentioned yet: ANet will likely not implement this for the simple reason that they don’t want to make gold any easier to accumulate.
More money in circulation means more people able to pay higher prices which means the average price for everything – across the board – rises, meaning gold is less valuable.
Anything that aids saving in a system like this (where there is not a fixed amount of money in circulation) drives up inflation. If this feature were implemented you can kitten well bet there will be a cost to move money into your savings account.
It seems strange to think that market stability is dependent on frivolous spending and lack of impulse control.
I would’ve thought that this wouldn’t have this effect at all (or even the opposite) as money would be in some respects “removed” from the economy, as people want to sit safely on a lot of their gold without the intentions of spending it any time soon.
But there’s still more gold available. And since frivolous spending affects the economy to some degree, of course it has to account for it. How many of the purchases made daily would be considered ‘frivolous’? how many of them would not have been made with a system such as this available?
The thing is that gold removed via tp fees is gone forever, whereas gold merely stored away is only gone temporarily. Sure, some will be lost as players stop playing, but that happens already, and i’d guess that the likelyhood of a player ceasing play would show rough inverse correlation with the amount of wealth they’ve accumulated ingame.
I absolutely love map completion. I currently have 5 characters at 100% and 9 at approximately 60%. Doing map completion is how I level my chars, so I for one dont want to see it go. I dont understand the problem the OP has in saying that map completion stops him making alts because it is totally not needed to make them. You can get your chars to lvl 80 so many different ways.
I dont understand why people want things taken out of games because it doesnt suit their tastes in game play. If you dont like it then just dont do it.
precisely this.
Though i think a lot of people get jealous of the rewards given to those who have done what, to them, would be an overwhelmingly difficult task.
The problem, of course, is that their exclusivity is what makes them desirable in the first place. If everyone has it, it’s not nearly so attractive.
If it’s opt in that’s fine for me. It’s not necessary to insult those who enjoy different things than you to make your request and argument for it. The people who do it will be losing out on an enormous amount of exp for the Mastery lines that they can casually get just by running through new areas, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Just so long as the star is only displayed for characters who have legitimately completed the map.
I don’t mind going through the map again, but the Hearts gotta go. They are the very definition of grinding, serves no purposes but repetitive and tedious tasks, especially some of them gives less than 5% progress for each time you complete one of the tasks.
I think this is a different issue. Yes, some hearts could definitely do with rebalancing, but i absolutely think they should still count for world completion. There are ways to cheese/rapidly progress most of them with minimal tedium anyway.

I personally enjoy playing the game. Doing map completion gives me some kind of target to work towards while i play. I’ve done 4 world completions so far and i plan to start on revenant pretty much as soon as the class is available.
To be quite honest, i don’t really understand what’s motivated your suggestion. If you don’t want to do world completion more than once, then… don’t? it’s not like it’s required (for anything other than crafting the current legendaries; even then, making it so it can be done only once hurts rather than helps that).
If it’s just a matter of you not wanting to unlock the wps… maybe these weird ‘teleport to friend’ stones could instead be used to unlock a specific waypoint for some other character (optional whether they’re an alt or on another account)
Can confirm. I skinned him personally.
i don’t understand WHY there is such uproar about maize balms. They are a legitimate item, being used in a legitimate way, with the devs blessing and support, to the benefit of all involved parties.
why does the community get so toxic over this one small item?Because the legitimate way is both open to trolling against farmers and open to ridicule against anybody trying to do anything but farm.
But… why? what is it about this that brings out the worst in people?

No, I think YOU need to reread what is going on. The ambient farmer was there first. End of discussion.
They game has very CLEAR rules on who owns a mob — the person who kills it.
People griefing the maize balm farmers by killing their ambients have received temporary bans before. People griefing achievement farmers – no matter why they are griefing – are every bit as susceptible.
noooo i’d say you’re mistaken. Leather definitely has many more, much nicer looking sets than plate. Light armour definitely has the edge, though
(which makes sense, because light armour is essentially just clothing, and leather reinforced clothing. As armour gets heavier, style must be sacrificed for actual function)
Not if you’re male. We’re completely neglected.
Well i actually like the trenchcoat look, so i can’t really comment on that. As i said above, my engy looks fantastic in rubicon and my ranger wears a full garb of sneakthief (with the rascal mask) – looks very mercenary ;-)
It looks like it has an agony infusion slot in addition to the normal defensive infusion too.
The home portal stone functionality is the behaviour of all instances. When you leave, the game puts you back where you entered from.
The captain’s pass doesn’t put you in an instance so i’d bet there’s a lot of ‘under the hood’ stuff they’d have to implement to get it to behave the same way.
I use rubicon on my charr, with noble eyepiece.
Huh, you know, i’d never noticed this before now.
Guess i didn’t play my mesmer enough back in the day…
soon (with the tm thing i can’t do on my keyboard)
i’m finding that in the heat of combat, often it really doesn’t. As an engy, i need to occasionally select the boss in order to napalm blast, but the rest of the time it’s made a lot easier if i have them untargeted, so i can still throw nades or drop mortar shells at their feet (at the top of my screen) while having the camera almost totally top down in order to better see ground markers/other nearby.
I’m not sure if it’s just that i often need the key to work while i’m pressing other keys, and it doesn’t properly identify, or if it’s some other issue, but Lock Autotarget just doesn’t work well enough as a deselect key for my purposes.
Will action camera help with the bug where some skills fail to activate (but still go on full cooldown) if the target isn’t right in front of your character with the camera also facing them? I get this an awful lot on Blowtorch (Engineer pistol 4), but I’ve had it happen with a lot of other skills too.
This chiefly occurs when you are moving – since your character moves in the direction the camera is facing, but skill use will only rotate your character and not the camera, what i think happens is the game attempts to rotate your character (and either succeeds or fails) but your movement forces your facing back towards your camera facing angle, and the game detects that you are facing the wrong way and ‘interrupts’ the skill, placing it on the reduced interrupt cooldown.
It would be nice if this simply caused the skill to not activate, though, or even to briefly change your facing in order to actually cast the skill.

hi! o/
BIG QUESTION:
Under the action camera, Is it possible to hit a thief in stealth with projectile skill?
I haven’t personally tried this, but you certainly can manually aim skills under the current system (hold right click; twitch forward or back) and you very definitely can hit enemies with manually aimed projectiles. So unless either a) Stealthed characters are a specific exemption to this rule or b) This camera system deliberately disables that functionality, the answer is yes.
You may need to re-train to unlock all trait lines. There’s a new tab in hero panel for that
All that needs to change is that blocked players cannot add you and get removed.
There is a hotkey setting called “Lock Autotarget”. I know the name doesnt make sense right…but it works. Go test it out in the heart of the mists. I found this out on these forums a long time ago.
I tried it out. It does work… after a fashion. It will fail to deselect every now and again, for no reason i can readily discern
I feel like i should mention – using the maize balm actually KILLS the critters (necros will get LF from their deaths) so i would assume that it could progress the achievement that way.
So you can always sponsor a maize farm yourself!
condis can be cleansed.
Does this qualify?
Landshark. Not odd at all =D
I’m actually really looking forward to having a proper ranged power weapon on my guard.
not so secret WAS hard, but i was fortunate enough to get that when people were porting.
That one in dry top that you have to do blind is pure cancer though.
Scrapper is niche at best. Or were you meaning specifically for pvp? cos i won’t even be equipping it myself.
Yes, the jumping puzzle will eventually lead you to a skritt tunnel that takes you there. it’s a dive location, and there’s an achievement fr managing to avoid the ship and land in the tiny puddle underneath. No, i’m not even joking.
I know this has been posted before because i posted in the last thread i saw about it, but it’s still not here and still hasn’t been mentioned.
The game needs a button to instantly deselect your current target. Escape serves this function but is contextual and will prefer to do things like cancel skills or close windows before deselecting the current target. Ground clicking is equally unreliable, especially in circumstances where the player model limit may come into play.
Whether i’m attempting to use a manually aimed Napalm ball to trigger a blast finisher, trying to use a bundle to hit a world object (at least two mini dungeons require this), or even just wanting to aim a ground target skill at the top of my screen, having a target selected is often an inconvenience. One that could well prove fatal (and has, in at least one case regarding those mini dungeons).
It can’t possibly detract from the game (except, i guess, in pvp situations where players have beaten an opponent who would have won if they could only drop target on command) and has the potential to ease a lot of headache in the upcoming content.
Can we please get a binding to deselect current target?
…and this gating applies per account or per character? If it is per character, I’m quitting, because I’m NOT doing it 19 times over.
Pretty sure they said per character.
and actually i am excited, or at least relieved. It’s difficult to play a game, sometimes, despite whatever enjoyment you get out of it, if you don’t have the sense that you’re progressing towards something.
This gives me something. A lot of something, admittedly, and that might need reexamining/readjustment, but it at least means that when i want to just log in and make progress i have some way of doing that.
plus there are all sorts of ways to up your exp gain, and in the beta weekends at least the initial tiers to at least give access to the mastery thingy were doable within a half hour.

Any champ bag has a (small) chance at a precursor.
My understanding is that there’s a pool of general exotics which includes precursors, and a few exclusive exotics for each bag type.
The game rolls on a table to determine what loot type you get. If you get the random exotic, it picks randomly from the entire group of eligible exotics.
There may be a weighting aspect there too, so that precursors occur less frequently than the average.
I’d like to see a platinum event completion bonus. It would only be achievable by being present for min 3/4 of the event, being within the event zone at the time of completion and having a very high level of participation (ptagged at least 50% of the enemies in the event; turned in a large number of the items… etc)
Getting platinum reward level would give extra rewards in the bonus chest as well as more money/karma/exp.
you could invite members of your main guild to help you out with a simple guild mission?
So here’s how I feel:
- I do like the followers list
- - If you are struggling with harassment, report it for sure
- Mine has more than 30 people on it, but only the top two ever come online
- There should be a way to clean it without removing its functionality.
- A Hide Inactive button perhaps?
have it so that it only tracks players who have been online in the last month. if they log back on, they reappear. That way you don’t lose your ‘subscribed’ player list for going inactive, but peoples’ follower lists don’t get cluttered.
You absolutely totally completely utterly should NOT be able to follow someone who has blocked you, though.
The final point of AR to reach the agony reduction cap is only 1/6th as effective (1.2% reduction in agony tick damage per point, to a minimum of 1% per second). Until the 40’s/50scale i treat the cap as being 1 point lower than it actually is, which can save you a lot if you’re buying agony infusions.
But the most gold generated is from silverwaste so why isn’t it getting needed?:/ just because dungeons generate more gold than fractals doesn’t mean it generates a lot of gold, 30 gold for playing 5-6 hours only once a day is hardly any gold I would nerf over.
You don’t get a lot of direct gold from the silverwastes, you get items to sell or salvage and then sell on the TP. TP doesn’t add gold to the game, just move it around between players. Dungeons add new gold to the game.
According to the wiki, just the embroidered coin purses give between 1s and 9s 92c. That’s 5s 46c on average. Now i don’t know how many purses you get on average per hour, but i’m pretty sure you get tons as all the chestfarmers have always said.
Let’s say you get 100 per hour (that’s probably still low, you can do better than 1 chest every 36 seconds). That’s 5g 46s generated by a single chest farmer. If a train is comprised of 40 people, they made 218g 40s out of thin air.
Let’s take an average CoE run. Everyone in the party gets 3g for the 3 paths, plus a few champ bags that generate amounts of coin similar to the chestfarm bags. The CoE run could take an hour, accounting for different party compositions, different levels of play. The dungeon being closed after a path and so on. Let’s say they may generate a similar 5g 46s per person per hour. In this case you have to have 8 full parties running CoE to generate the same amount of gold. But unlike chestfarming, after their run they are done with CoE for the day. Chestfarmers can dig endlessly.
Now tell me, how do you not get a lot of direct gold in SW as compared to the dungeons?
Speaking as someone who has opened a few thousand coin purses, the average is not 5s. The upper bound may be around 10 but the true average is much closer to 2s.
Does the jellyfish even inflict agony?
One of the dumbest additions they announced for HoT, imo. I’m totally with you on having them just taken out entirely. Make them a helm skin, like that toxic filter thingy.
You shouldn’t see even map chat messages from blocked people…
But i agree, blocked people absolutely should not be allowed to stalk you.
That’s why it specifically says “all game modes”.
Since you get exp in all game modes ANYWAY (except pvp, but i don’t think it works there anyway) it’s reasonable to conclude it would increase the specific type of experience for each game mode.
I think it has its uses but certainly people you’ve blocked shouldn’t be able to follow you (if they presently can)
