Couldn't be more happy with Healer and Tank

I’m gonna reserve judgement until my hot.

I feel like i should mention, though, that there’s been no stated intention/hints at rebalancng older content and what i’ve seen of verdant brink in the weekend events hasn’t made it look like there will be any place for a tank or healer in open world content (more than there already is, anyway – i just finished a fourth world completion on a character who is extremely tanky and it worked quite well in every event i got involved in)

my prediction is that tanks or healers will only be necessary in raids, if even there. If ANet balances things extraordinarily well, we might see them being useful in other content but they will not be required.

And poof! There go my Karma boosts

really i enjoy the new (pve) daily more than the old one!

personal preferences are different

Indeed. and i think the problem for a lot of people is that they didn’t/don’t enjoy either system, but the previous system got you more of the dailies/got your dailies completed more frequently just through ordinary play.

The new system requires you to go out of your way, and because they now give rewards – quite significant rewards, for some dailies – they’re not as easily ignored. So the new system makes players feel like they have to do dailies while at the same time require them to do things they enjoy less – the OP’s complaint about fractal dailies serving as the perfect example.

I feel it’s a false presumption that because a guild has this rule that they’re inherently a bad guild.

perhaps – but what’s the alternative? Either you demand rep which which people would not give willingly – which i would say would make you a bad guild – or you don’t need to require rep to the extent you do, because people would rep your guild anyway, which makes the rep requirement redundant.

Of course, those are absolute positions – in reality, i imagine, most of your members would rep the guild regardless, while some few rep the guild only because they are required to. I would venture to say that for those people, your guild is a bad guild.

consider also: what do you actually gain from forcing people to represent you if they wouldn’t really want to? for every person who grudgingly complies and provides you with that extra influence boost, i bet you lose or fail to recruit 2 or 3 who object to being required to exclude their other acquaintances. people with a preference also seem more likely to be veteran players who would bring & contribute more to the guild were they to join – even if their time & resources are divided amoongst several guilds.

Biggest turnoff for me in a guild ad is “100% rep req”

Basically, “if you want to be our friend you don’t get to have any other friends”

I expect (hope!) such a requirement will become a moot point once the updated guild chat comes out with HoT and you can then potentially see all your guild chats in one chat window

Unlikely, imo – more likely more guilds will start requiring it. “what? you can still read other guild chat without having to rep them now! Why would you unrep us?” Well sir, you see, my other guilds are all also asking 100% rep now…

The female Charr PC voice.
Can’t remember my ORDERS!” in the most despairingly heartbroken voice

“STRENGHT OF THE PACK!” [that on is really nasty… when they were making this skill a shout they should have do the same thing as they did with heal as one aka just add “we” on the beginning and “!” on the end “We Rampage as one!” actually sounds like a shout in oposition to “strenght of the pack!”]

Ugh both of these kitten me off too, actually.

“Heal as one!” would have worked fine as a shout without the we-. With it, it sounds like a villainous taunt. “You think you can dispatch us one at a time? Hah! We Heal As One!

Rampage as one didn’t even need the shout conversion – if they didn’t like the skill name, ‘Strength of the Pack’ works fine without being a shout.

Biggest turnoff for me in a guild ad is “100% rep req”

Basically, “if you want to be our friend you don’t get to have any other friends”

As the leader for a Guild Wars community guild that has been active for nearly 10 years, members representing us 100%, with the exception of bank guilds, has been essential to our long existence.

Oh yes, it is definitely beneficial for the guild and its leaders. Noone disputes that. But if you have to enforce that, it only means that you and your guildmembers really aren’t friends.

Basically this. To my knowledge, my ‘main’ guild has no rep requirement at all, but are still the guild i most prominently rep, because it’s fun to see and play with them out in the world, they’re fun people to talk to, guild chat is commonly amusing… etc.

A good guild should make you want to rep them and play with them, if they have to require those things, well, that’s probably a sign that that guild isn’t actually all that fun to be a part of.

Burning is REALLY STRONG!

Burning is just slightly above where it should be. They could easily change the formula from (0.155 * Condition Damage) + 131.5 to (0.125 * Condition Damage) + 131.5

This would bring it back in line to being slightly better than where it was prior to the 23rd trait rework patch.

Give Burning more baseline so Power builds get more free damage output? Meanwhile, Condi builds get less for the points they invest ? That’s just doesn’t seem to be the right thing to due with Burning. The condition itself needs less baseline and a touch more on the scaling modifier. Might needs a nerfing again which will help with less Burning output in general. For Guardians, they actually need more active Condi output on weapons skills and less on the block traits. Ele’s need duration reduction, especially on the signet! On Mesmer, burning needs to be completely removed. The rest of the professions aren’t too bad with burning right now.

I tend to disagree.

The scaling coefficient itself is part of the problem being that it is really just absurdly high, compare it to any other condition and you’ll notice why. Toning that down would be the first step in the process. Then you can hit the per-case basis by toning down the duration as needed. That doesn’t actually help as much for power builds as you believe.

Might itself is fine. The sources in which you gain might may need to be looked at in a PvE sense but otherwise might isn’t in dire need of a numerical nerf.

a blanket -25% scaling and +33% duration for burning wouldn’t be out of line, i don’t think. That keeps the overall damage similar/same but spreads it out over longer (also making it more vulnerable to cleanse, incidentally)

I don’t think the bleed scaling nerf that came with the stack cap removal was warranted. If anything i think bleed should be boosted up a hair – and sigil of earth needs a revisti, right now its only purpose is to enable power builds that can trait for +% damage vs bleeding targets.

You can obtain specific bags that will fill with equipement of different rarities and have unlimited salvage tools in the gem store.

You can also use the search function in your inventory and search for “masterwork” or fine and it will only show items of that rarity.

Salvaging is not a problem, if your set up for it.

I think his complaint was the sheer amount of clicking required. If so, i concur.

I recently opened 750 champ bags and around 400 bags of gear. That’s a lot of very rapid clicking.

Not that I don’t agree about mass salvage, sell, use “luck”, buying and more but why do you wait to open your bags? I mean I can understand to wait for a stack of 250 but why wait until you got 750 bags? If you take a break in your farming/grinding or whatever you do and open the bags now and then, it wont be as much rapid clicking.

partly in my case it was just convenience – spend a week collecting, set aside time on the weekend to use em all and sort out profit.
also the thrill factor – from a statistical perspective, more individual chances means a higher collective chance at something significantly valuable – and when that inevitably fails to deliver, i have that many more vials of blood/charged lodestones/named exotics to console me. i think i wound up with 5, one of which was a skin i hadn’t yet unlocked.

1)
Either unlimited storage would be possible as all new items would be placed ‘somewhere’ until the player frees up inventory space and the items are collected or all the additional items would be lost when the player logs off.

With no disrespect intended, that’s a nonsensical reason. There’s already an additional storage like you describe. It’s no different from clicking a hundred bags manually and running out of space. I often forget how much stuff I have and when I loot a boss chest I get the ‘encumbered’ message. The items I can’t hold are displayed in a separate list window until I make room in my inventory.

bolded and italicized to illustrate how it works right now.

a full stack of champ bags would easily overflow that system – and what happens if the game crashes? if you accidentally open one bag over your limit, you stand to lose 2-3 items at most; with your ‘open all’ you could lose a huge number of items.

I’m curious why they went with trying to match a players build instead of giving everyone a reset.

It was something to the effect of, “new or casual players may not remember what exactly their build was to be able to replicate it”

I shouldn’t have to level up to 80, which likely will never happen, with broken skills.

Um… are you meaning traits? Skills are the right half of your bar, where you can pick what abilities you equip.

The system is supposed to try and pick a build similar to what you had before. If it really didn’t do that, you could always put in a support ticket, you might find a sympathetic GM, but i’m not really even sure they are able to do what you are asking. the redesigned mechanics were structured in such a way that hero points, once spent, can’t be refunded (because there’s no need from a practical perspective)

Once you get to level 80, the problem disappears.

This exactly. The system spent points to make available all the skills your character had equipped at the time of the update, even putting you into negative points in the process if that was how many points it took.

By the time you hit 80 you will have in the region of 80 more hero points than you can actually spend, even if you’ve never poked a skill challenge inquiringly.

I don’t mind people selling paths, achievements, and the things arenanet has already said are not punishable, but for crying out loud sellers. Can you at least list under the categories? I’m getting sick of seeing people selling Fractal level 50 under the general tab. There is a Fractal tab, use it. Same goes for the dungeon sellers that do the same thing.

I see this so rarely that i’m tempted to think it’s usually just a legitimate mistake or oversight. Most of the buyers will be looking in the appropriate category and the chances of snaring someone’s interest who was not specifically looking is so low that it wouldn’t make sense to deliberately list in the wrong place.

Also, the reason people sell fractal 50 is so that people whose personal reward level is that high can get that extra daily chest.

The Era it was made and the style of GW1 (imo) made it a much easier game to develop huge zones for (i believe nightfall still holds the record for largest playable, custom tailored game area). That, coupled with the fact that that game has had three full expansions and more than triple the lifetime of GW2, gives the illusion that the game had more content than its technical-if-not-spiritual successor.

Bearing in mind we’re nearing the end of this game’s longest content drought in several years, if not since its release, noone would fault you for stepping away to play something else and checking back in once HoT has been released, to see if players think the new content is worth the price tag.

Allow me to salvage rare items without a confirmation. Or after I confirm don’t reset the salvage kit so that I have to click it again to salvage another item.

i’d very much like this. If you’re using a salvage kit of equal or greater quality to the item you’re attempting to salvage, confirmation dialogue should be suppressed, unless the item has ever been equipped or had an upgrade manually applied to it which could probably be simplified to ‘always confirm salvaging of soulbound equipment’

but right now, salvaging rares can get very annoying.

I’d also like it if a misclick or salvaging something with a confirmation didn’t cancel the salvage cursor.

IIRC, gw1 had a ‘trash can’ in your inventory. Something similar could be implemented to gw2.

First you do… something to toggle it open, at which point any item you drop on it is moved there. When your inventory next closes, everything in trashcan is permanently destroyed.

I disagree. Something similar to the Trash Bin system like in GW1 should not be implemented in GW2. It is an archaic system that would just be more clutter within the UI to add some Trash Bin icon somewhere in the Inventory than it is to have a ‘Destroy Item Confirmation Window’ with the Y and N underlined as Hotkeys.

Well, i’m not suggesting exactly the system from GW1. This would be more like the temporary inventory window you get if you manage to overflow your bags, but allowing you to manually move unwanted items to it. When you close it/your inventory, it brings up a single dialogue “You have items in your trash can. Do you wish to permanently destroy them?”

click yes once and everything in it is gone.
