I think it’s because it’s not on the same boss rotation. I do think it still needs a better reward, being doable only once every zone cycle.
Pls listen to the other half of the com. too!

Yes.

previously there were two ways of getting a precursor:
-get extremely lucky and find one
-work slowly towards one until you finally accumulate enough resources to obtain one
now there’s a third way:
-work slowly towards one until you finally accumulate enough resources to obtain one (at greater expense than than the previous option)
I had a feeling the legendary collections were going to be poorly balanced. Including anything with a definite monetary value was always going to be a mistake – it would either be far too much, like now, or laughably little.
Things like bandit crests or the new currency aren’t so bad, but the majority of the collections needs to be simple scavenger hunts, feats of skill, or achievements.
I’m most of the way through my revs elite spec, and have 14 mastery points sunk so far. I’m just… loving it. I recently helped a friend with the hero challenges in verdant brink, and flying around the upper map is something i could do for hours just for its own sake.
I have to admit, after the beta w/es i was skeptical, but so far this has lived up to my hopes almost perfectly.
Then the scaling neesd to be adjusted, or a workaround needs to be found.
Additionally, it would be nice to be funneled into the most populated instance of a map up to a pretty high hard limit. It’s kinda frustrating to always be zoned to the most empty map.
If you can outheal the poison maybe you could get it. That bouncy mushroom in there doesn’t seem to function though.
They like to stealth before starting their combo, so even having a visual tell isn’t necessarily going to help.
Your best bet is probably to make sure you’ve got a stunbreak (or two) on your utility bar if you’re in an area with Bladedancers. Or alternately, keep your distance.
I’ve found they typically stealth after. They’ll do the dagger combo when you melee them, stealth as it wears off, switch to bow and start ranging you.
rinse & repeat (they often don’t have to)
I have little choice as to what skills i have on my bars as a revenant. Shiro has a stunbreak but it’s VERY expensive (30% of my energy, which is actually more like 60%+ because you only start at 50 energy and are usually spending it faster than it accumulates) and switching legend will stunbreak me but leave me in a bad position to actually kill the mob.
Of all the new npcs i think these are the ones that frustrate me the most, because of this.
Can we have a visual tell for when they’re about to start their combo? right now they segue into it from nothing that i can see, and since that firs hit stuns you for the whole duration, it’s extremely difficult to dodge.
It ranges widely from off-the-charts to hatred and rage.
Which, if i’m being honest, is how i actually like it.
I liek that we have to learn the maps. I didn’t like that a lot of hero points are gated behind mastery… but then it occurred to me that that will make training alts a whole bunch easier. It’s only hard because it’s my first time through, i’m playing an entirely new class, and i lack all the resources from the rest of Tyria (which my other toons mostly have, and in spades)
Overall i think i’d rate the content at 9/10.
Tengu do have a new model now.. (at least, the ones in maguuma)
You’re not. If you buy HoT, you get the base game thrown in if you didn’t already own it to prevent people from being put off by having to buy not only the expansion but also a full copy of the base game.
Or, if it helps you sleep: Since the base game is F2P now anyway but heavily restricted, You can look at it as them lifting your F2P restrictions if you purchase HoT.
I might be misunderstanding the issue, and if so, I apologize. But I wonder if this update note may apply:
- Fixed a bug that prevented Adept and Master Elite Specialization achievements from completing in the Heart of the Mists. For characters who had their elite spec achievements broken, a “Specialization Achievement Repair” NPC has been added to the heart of the mists you can speak to who will repair the achievement.
Again, sorry if that’s completely irrelevant, but the discussion reminded me of the note so I wanted to share it in this thread. (IOW, the Repair NPC might be helpful.)
No fucntionality if you already have the weapon /achieve on another toon of the same class. I have 3 necros… so no weapon.
Is this working as intended?
Hmm, you know, that’s a good question.
well over the week since posting this i’ve fairly heavily tested the ‘lock autotarget’ function as a drop target button, and it’s not reliable. at all. approx 33% of the time it will work as desired, another 33% it takes 3-5 key presses to get it to actually deselect my current target, and the final 1/3 of the time neither love nor money will make it drop my target and i have to resort to spam clicking around to unselect my target.
This was mostly tested in fractals, and high scale at that (40-50) and it’s just not viable in this function. Having to stop my rotation to wrangle with a keypress for 2-3 seconds is simply too inconveniencing.
Did HoT bring any new keybinds which could work in this regard?
Diablo III’s expansion lasted 3-4 hours, with all replay ability being found in grinding harder difficulties of these levels. It costed $50 at launch.
GTA IV’s expansion episodes lasted around 10-20 hours, and were priced at a total of $40 for both.
Destiny, the Taken King, lasts around 15-20 hours, and raids were incrementally released after launch. It costs $40.
Uhuh.
Guild Wars: Factions had 40 new explorable areas, 12 new missions, 2 new professions each with 75 new skills, and more than 150 new skills for the older professions. That, plus dozens of new armor arts, hundreds of new weapon skins, and so on and so on.
HoT is a joke compared to that. It looks and sounds like just an overpriced, rushed piece of DLC.
Played factions recently?
The level of detail there is an order of magnitude lower than in the new HoT maps. There’s no dynamic content – what you see the first time through is what you see every time.
The class and skill system of GW1 was more friendly to extension, too, i think. Maybe i’m just not being especially imaginative but it’s difficult to think of a new class or a new set of skills that won’t essentially be copies or recombinations of something that already exists in game (note: Factions included a large number of direct copies of skills that existed in prophecies, with only the skill name changed).
- light of dwayna ??
Only if shadow of grenth also.
I want to soar on wings of icy darkness
You must have unlocked all other trait lines fully to access the elite spec.
I believe this is only possible at lvl 80.
I can’t complete prologue either but i’m not getting kicked out of it when my client freezes/crashes/does whatever its doing.
Edit: I’M THROUGHHH
Is it still switched on in your options?

Can’t just nerf it, gotta completely destroy it. Shame, just wish I sold the rest of mine before the price completely crashed… And lose the attitude please, there is toxicity in every part of the game, that does not make all of us a bunch of jerks.
If you’re talking to me, i wasn’t either generalising nor referring specifically to the farmers. a lot of the toxicity seems to be directed towards you guys/us, and i know even the ones who are toxic are not a majority nor representative. Perhaps i could have phrased it better.
I like caithe – a lot more now that she’s a better fleshed out character through LS2.
Logan is and always was utterly forgettable. Eir is only a footnote because of Braham (and i guess her relation to Jora, if i recall that right). Zojja gets a nod on ascended weaponry, but she’s a little too… cliched a character to be really likeable.
Rytlock, on the other hand, is a good character and is rightly getting fleshed out further. I’m happy with that.
I wonder how this will work – if it will stop tag and run or just afkers?
I hope the latter, but i don’t see it working – when i’m doing (for example) world completion, i’ll often stop and just tag an event which is obvious well in hand, in order to get participation and associated rewards, but since my input isn’t exactly required move on to avoid upscaling the event and to go on with the business i was about.
It’d be a shame, for me at least, if this system were to affect that. It means i’d likely just stop contributing at all to events i didn’t care to stay to see to completion.
Afkers, on the other hand, are probably still physically present at their computers, jsut doing something else – chatting, or browsing on another screen. Now they have to put in more work – because they have to reset their idle status – but that’s not going to significantly affect them, to tag and kill/allow to be killed one extra mob at some later point in the event.

Sarcasm?
I feel like this is just to make it so that critter farming doesn’t compete with the halloween labrynth. Hopefully it gets reverted after.
Not Sarcasm at all, who knows maybe or maybe not it will get reverted back, time will tell, Just sick of all the qq in map chat from the Maize Balm farmers.
Some is from, some is about, but yeah, it certainly does seem to bring out unexpected toxicity. maybe this will be a positive.

emotional and satisfying.
WE GET TO KILL
PHLUNTTREHEARNE?!Fixed.
That would be sad and a bit disheartening.
Like putting down your sick family dog.
i’m imagining that will be more “get them killed”
…like i didn’t do that enough in LS2 >.>
It was too confusing to new players, so they took it out.
Sorry, couldn’t resist :P

WE GET TO KILL PHLUNT?!

Yeah, this game includes buyback (which gw1 lacked) but not yet a sellback feature.

Two things will commonly result in you getting consistent aggro:
Dealing more damage than anyone else;
Having better defense than anyone else.On both my necro and guard (3k toughness/2500-3k power) things tend to stick to me as long as they’re alive.
Well … so true .. but im surprised that this happends over and over just TO me ? i mean that feels like everyone is doing autoattacks and spamming hbs or using no armor ? I dont know i mean how is this possible that I get the AGGRO of it ALMOST EVERYTIME ? … Its annoying and frustating to be downed for dealing “too much dmg” ? As engi i have more issues ,because of skill queques or my combos fields getting overwritten by other fields x.x …
I feel you on the engi thing, with a minimally defensive build i seem to get a very great deal of monster hate. It’s especially noticeable on the Legendary Archdiviner at the end of cliffside, who will attack me pretty much to the exclusion of all else if i make even a moderate effort to maintain good condition stacks on him.

Only if i can get intensity stacking blind as well <3

22 hours 16 min from now !
Launch will occur at a point in time, likely in the future, which cannot be precisely pinpointed at present!!!!!
Emphasis mine.

as of right now, it’s 22 hours and 35 minutes off.
Rather than defaulting to open world, maybe we could get a general listings category where people can put groups that either don’t fit elsewhere or for one reason or another are looking to grab attention (i’m thinking primarily of fractal groups looking to complete a daily).
I’ve sent recorded video and screenshots of players exploiting/hacking in WvW to that email in the past and nothing had ever happened to them and they continued to exploit. Either email’s sent to that specific address forward straight to trash or you guys don’t care about exploiting.
Yep, those are most definitely the only possible explanations for why something sent to that address might not be changed!
It’s obtainable through SW, purchasable with bandit crests.
I think it’s just a guild member who’s also in party? Maybe even if they’re not presently repping?
Why would you ever do that? That’s crazy. Some people want more than 2 tier 1 legendaries, you know.
And what if it’s optional on a character by character basis?
I’m not sure I get what you mean. Are you saying that you can chose whether map completion is account bound or not?
I think he wants, like, a checkbox to unlock the map on a given character to your most completed status.
I feel like that’s maybe a bit too much of having one’s cake and eating it too >.>
Be aware, you could only hold up to 4 or so of those chests before they will automatically open when changing maps/logging out. So, it’s not like you could do much World Map Completion on a new/low-level character and save them to open in the Heart of Maguuma.
Good luck.
I’m not sure hey even open automatically. i think they’re just lost.
That’s how the silverwastes chests work anyway.Once you go over 4 and change maps, they aren’t lost. The extras over 4 are just auto opened.
I have very certainly lost seed pods/greater keys from forgetting to open before i log out. Bags of gear/shovels are harder to gauge, because maybe those chests didn’t contain them, and bandit crests i haven’t been able to remember how many i had at logout to be able to tell if i was awarded them or not.

have we actually had official word on how many hero points the unlock will require?
There are still one or two mobs that spawn (might be popups) so you can run around the place in a hopeful manner and maybe get it done that way. There are usually others doing the same though.
Adding something to help get it done when the place is under ally control would be very useful though.
