First of all- thumps up for your effort. I brought that topic up the table about a year ago myself with some ideas for improving cond.dmg in PvE without touching PvP balance and I really do think that with the new sinister stat combo the discussion should live up again!
Since I still think my old suggestion (give PvE mobs a permanent “buff” like Defiance, making them more vulnerable to cond.dmg) would solve some of the current issues, I want to add something about the recent changes in PvE mob design and how it affects the cond.dmg issue:
Silverwaste brought up some new enemies with new abilities and behaviour, including the before mentioned Husks. The idea behind those Husks apparently was to give players with a cond.dmg build&equipment a task to shine at.
So I took my beloved Necromancer (yepp, I still consider him my main, though I rarely take him out into dungeons/fotm), traited him for cnd.dmg and put on my fancy cond.dmg gear (weapons scepter+dagger/ staff) and started hunting Husks. So, let’s see what happened:
- Husks went down really nice
- could survive quite well since most mobs are silver or below, making them susceptible to CC
- support other players dealing with big groups by picking out one target (preferably with some conditions on it already), ramping up some conditions and then spreading them with epidemic
But still I ran in the old “the more players, the more conditions, the less damage your conditions do”, often ending up having my bleeds tick for hilarious ~1k, when they could hit for 4k if only all my bleeds would be counted. Adding other conditions and the pitty direct dmg my dps was still laughable.
So I went to the changing room, re-speced to a direct dmg build (DS build, 62006), put my fancy zerker gear on and got back to the fighting. And what can I say? Everything died faster (and such being less a threat to our forts and caravans) than it did with my cond. dmg spec. Everything? Unfortunatly- yes, everything. Even the Husks. Pack some vuln on them and then crit the kitten out of them and they still die faster than they do from cnd. dmg.
So no matter if one (fully or partially) agrees with OP’s statement and suggestions or not- there is something dead wrong regarding cond.dmg in PvE and A.Net really should take care of it.

1. Rewards revamp. It’s just so kittening hilarious and brings me close to unsinstalling the game every now and then, that a drunk monkey pressing one button has the same chance to get the rarest and most valuable items as those super-skilled-guys runing everything solo with one hand tied to their back.
2. Find a solution for the condition dmg dilemma (cough pointing to an old suggestion thread of mine cough )
3. no Sylvarie driven story (yeah I know, it’s called “heart of THORNES”, but this is a wish list, right?)
4. New Dungeon(s), maybe for bigger partys of let’s say 8-10 ppl
5. Cantha (plz plz plz)
6. Bug fixing
7. New Heavy Class so it’s 3-3-3

Though I admit I didn’t read every part of the opening posts word by word (kitten , you put a whole lot of effort in it, but some tl;dr would be great), this is just what I thought after I finished reading.
Hard mode dungeons? Sure.
Hard mode maps? Won’t work.
Hard Mode maps just won’t work as long as there’s no unique instance for every party, since ppl tend to blobb everything down (yes, there are ways to counter this, you already mentioned the crown pavillon. But let’s be honest- how many times ppl actually did split and how many times you just sat there face-palming and soloing/duoing a boss while all the others kept zerging? I’d say the ratio was somewhere @ 20-80 at best). And this (instances for every party, besides any eventual technical issues) is something that will probably never happen, since HM maps then would be just like dungeons or fractals, just larger.
Which would then force you to deal with all the problems the existing dungeons are already- a whole lot of work to do for zero bucks.
Not that I wouldn’t like to see that, but with all the patches making the game less and less demanding and more attractiv to casuals we’ve seen in the last months (NPE, new daily system/rewards for simply loging in), Arena.Net made pretty clear that’s nothing they’re interested in.
Don’t get me wrong- would I love to see some major revamp regarding AI, loot distribution, overall challenge, etc. etc. – hell yeah!
Do I appreciate the effort you took? Ofc! It offers a great basis for discussion, at least in theory.
But do I believe that we will see just anything of it being implemented, just a tiny bit of it? No, sorry, I don’t.
Sadly they’ll rather keep simplifying the game even more, so even a trained monkey will be able to play it (and thx to rng-sus will get a precursor after hitting 80, lol).
Leader of “Servants of Balance” [SoB], a small guild endemic to the FSP.
My wife and I both play since late september 2012, each played something around 2.3k hours- both no precursor so far.
Well, since we both opened 100 champ bags each last week (so 200 overall) and the only drops worth to mention were 1 Stardust and 1 Impaler, I don’t think it’s a surprise we didn’t get any Pre’s yet (or will ever get one).
As some1 mentioned before- it’s just redicoulus that aquiring the most rare and most expensive items is based on pure RNG instead of player skill.
Frustrating as hell seeing a Bearbow guildy getting his second or third pre from afk-maxrange-autoattacking in open world while one trying to constantly improve doesn’t get anything valuable at all….

+1
Very well written and nice presentation.
I just like to quote myself from the other thread about the new daily/monthly system to show my support for your suggestion:
Dailies nowadays are pretty unspecific and most of them can be done everywhere (dodging, interrupting, condition stuff, gathering materials, getting skill points, level ups). And I strongly think that’s a very good thing!
The new system instead forces players to do very specific things they’re probably not interested in.
Leader of “Servants of Balance” [SoB], a small guild endemic to the FSP.
Oh boy, yesterday I cheered about the LS not continuing on the 16th and in return this announcment… I should have known that everything good Arena.Net does will punch back even harder >_>
I mean, why the beep fix what wasn’t broken?! Up to now whenever I felt to log in, 99,99% I completed my daily while doing what I want. Grab my Laurel and Mystic Coin and sometimes a nice goodie on top. Same with the monthly- sooner or later it was done.
And now? "Do the Shatterer! (or any other world boss) " Great, forced to stick to a timer to catch an event I’m usually 100% not interested in. “Do Events in area XY”. Great, forced to play in a certain area I probably wouldn’t play in else. Those are just examples, but I think you get what I mean. Dailies nowadays are pretty unspecific and most of them can be done everywhere (dodging, interrupting, condition stuff, gathering materials, getting skill points, level ups). And I strongly think that’s a very good thing!
The new system instead forces players to do very specific things they’re probably not interested in.
Oh, and this one made me laugh:
“Completing a fractal daily achievement will get you an extra pristine fractal relic…”
Yay, so we can pile up more stacks of those useless relics!
And on top of this, the new reward system for just logging in:
“Missed a day because of work, vacation, or a work vacation? No worries, your progress is still there! The next time you log in, you’ll pick up where you left off. The system will only reset once you’ve claimed the 28th and final reward.”
So ppl that log in every day for a minute get more rewards than ppl logging in every couple of days but when they do, they play for a few hours. Epic.
(Oh, and plz spare me the “but if you play for a few hours, you’ll get more rewards by drops etc” chat. I’m on of those “if my desired drop/item contains just a glimpse of rng I’ll most definitly never get it” bad luckers, I don’t believe in GW2 rewarding players loot-wise anymore)
So everyone with a job, family and social life gets punched in the face. Thank you very much. As if it wasn’t enough that GW2 rewards are already 100% RNG instead of being based on player skills….

(edited by Nash.2681)
So to sum up the year:
We had a 6 week break from December 10th to January 21st
Then we had a 4 week break from March until April
Then we had a 12 week break From April to July
Then we had an 8 week break from September til November
And now we are having a 6 week break from December to January
Anet’s total break time for the year = 36 weeks of break out of a 52 week year…
Well I guess it is no wonder why people are complaining about the amount of content… Anet gets more breaks than congress…
Uhm… first of all, it’s just 33 weeks of “breaks” (you counted the three weeks of December 2013 in). And second- everything that gets rolled out after the “breaks” has to be programmed somewhen. I’m pretty sure the ppl @ Arena.Net didn’t just sit around and practicing breaststrokes in a pool filled with money every now and then but put some work in “stuff” we already got served earlier this year or in the (near) future.
I don’t say Arena.Net is doing everything fine and that this game is perfect and doesn’t need any improvements. I also do understand that some ppl are more of less frustrated with the course that the game took. I’d be the first in line shouting “Hoooray!” for new small-scale PvE content (e.g. new dungeons, fractals, etc.) or some rework of ingame rewards.
But ascribing Arena.Net to sit around doing nothing for almost 2/3 of the year is just nonsense and helps nothing.

So LS 2 Chapter 8 will be released on January 13th 2015? Well, that’s… I don’t know what to say… this is just so….
HOOOORAY!
So much to do in this weird real live before christmas, so little time to play- reading that the next LS chapter is 5 more weeks ahead makes me chime!
I mean, trying to get the Lumeniscent Armor is already a *beep*load of grind -and even worse: grind with built in rng- but at least now there’s some time I can invest in that. Thinking about chapter 8 being released next week, adding another part or two of the Lumeniscent Armor…. nah, I just don’t want to imagine that.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey there,
Here are a few tidbits from the team:
- A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
- The goal was to make the Gem Store more like other shopping experiences, and if you think about it, there is more of that feel to it now.
- You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
- The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs.
So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.
Since so much has been said already, I just want to reply on two of those statements:
- A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
I don’t get it, all this “confusing to new players” talk and changes lately makes me feel like new GW2 players are a horde of Robinson like ppl having grown up on an isolated island, never been in touch with civilization before :/
Don’t get me wrong- there’s almost always space for improvement, but I just don’t get the necessity to change everything that just worked fine for now. I mean, you never needed some kind of university diploma or something before to get along with GW2, why all this changes now?
I mean, the hint at the end of the new window pointing out how gem-gold exchange (and vice versa) works is good and surely an improvement, but the rest is just… meeeeh…. - You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
I do not doubt the correctness of this piece of information, but I think the Dev’s came to the wrong conclusion. Just think about the “why”?
I’m pretty sure the majority of gems (those which were bought with gold) gets spent on cosmetic and collection stuff such as armor skins, costumes, mini pets, followed by convenience items like gathering tools. Those items usually cost quite a lot of gems, so ppl tend to buy the amount of gems needed for a specific item IF -and this if is a big one- they can afford it.
Since gem prices constantly raised over the past two years, I’m pretty sure the players that change a significant amount of gold to gems is a small minority, mostly TP-brokers and hardcore farmers. Those kind of players already sitting on thousands of gold that simply dont need to care about spending hundreds of geld to get gems for their shinies, since they’ll always have enough gold for everything.
And I think that’s the reason why so many ppl in here are mad about the change- you simply took away the possibility for the average player to get some gems for gold, those that tended to trade in ~15 gold every now and then to get 100 gems so they can get something nice of the gemshop once or twice a year while still having some gold to buy equipment/materials for their toons.
tl;dr: plz re-add the old possibility to freely chose the amount of gold to gems conversion and keep the new set options as an addition for the richie-riches.

168g? If only. Let’s do the math:
Assuming you spent all your materials on getting your tailor to 500 and start off by zero now, the bolts of damask, of which you need 36, will be 540 gold (calculated 15g/ea for the needed mats after checking gw2spidy). Add some more for the T6 mats, recipes etc. and you have spent 600 gold in no time. So depending on the mats you still got stored it will cost you something between a few dozen up to a few hundred gold.

Many good advice has already been given, so I’ll just stick to a few things I’d like to add:
- Subject Alpha is all about positioning and timing; if you fight him while he uses teeth of mordremoth, try to always stand in/behind it
- if someone has issues dodging those heavy AoE circles in p2 and p3, try to figure out how many AA swings you can do until you need to dodge. Met a couple of players who always failed those dodges while trying to count 2 seconds in their mind, but after I told them to find the right amount of swings with their weapon of choice they succeded every dodge with ease
- though I agree an Elementalist won’t hurt your party, there’s really no need to get one at any cost (unless you aim for some speedrunning with pre-might stacking etc.); example: we did CoE p1 last wendsday with two “first timers”, group was Guard, Mesmer and three rangers. No voice used, just a few written explainations before the fight (told them to melee and what attacks to watch out for) and guess what- no casualties, super smooth run, mobs (including alpha) simply melted.
- you (and the rest of your party) might want to change gear and builds a little more towards dps. I’m not saying “play meta and go full zerk or gtfo”, but give yourselves some goals stats wise. e. g. assuming your sitting at 25% crit chance try something like “let’s see how well I’ll do after lowering some vit/toughness in favor of a 35% crit chance”. And as soon as you get comfortable, push that boarder further towards more offensive power.

Had this topic here a few months already. Yes, there are more people like you swimming in tons of dragonite, aswell as people having more of one or two of the other three ingredients than they can ever put to good use.
For example- I really hate zerg content, farming and I’m not much into WvW either. But I do like small scale party content, so I do quite a lot of dungeons and fractals. So I end up with stacks and stacks of bloodstone dust and fragments, but I’m always short on dragonite.
Also people already suggested somekind of trade system for those three ascended mats (e.g. as you suggested aswell- make them changeable in a ratio somewhere between 1:3 and 1:10), unfortunatly nothing alike got implented so far

Thumbs up for your efforts SKATE!
Would be interesting to compare your numbers to some raised shortly after champ bags were introduced.
Though I somehow do believe aswell that champ bag loot got nerfed hard in the past, I think it’s just Arena.Nets solution to those hardcore champ-train farmers (or even worse intentional event fail farmers). If so, it’s just sad that a few greedy people have such an impact on rewards for all players

I think I can confirm the issue happens whenever you get transformed (as Setis got transformed into a ghost in AC).

As for ranger runes; I do have them… on my ranger. The other classes don’t seem to be able to take advantage of the companion bonus.
The 6th bonus triggers as long as you have a Minipet equipped and showing. Ofc this might get changes somewhen in the future, but for now it’s the reason why Sup Ranger Runes are suggested as a cheap alternative for DPS builds.

Hey there,
just did a relaxed lvl 14 fotm yesterday and rolled thaumanova as third fractal. So far so good, we hit the first few mobs and got rid of the skritt.
Since a guild mate had to afk a few mins I decided to give the heat room a shot. I didn’t make it, died, and my body got ported outside. So far no worries. But after I got rezzed I couldn’t see my charakter anymore. Effects such as swiftness or certain attack animation bling-bling was displayed, but my character wasn’t. Others could still see me.
We then went on to the maze part and (shame on me) I failed and got killed by the guns, aswell as another teammate. We both respawned and guess what- we both couldn’t see our own character anymore, but he could see me and I could see him.
Going back to the character selection rejoining did solve the issue each time, still quite anoying.
Bug only happened @ thaumanova, we had uncategorized as first level including some fail jumping / harpyie knocking deaths, no visibility issues there.

Glad this topic got a red post, letting me keep a little spark of hope for the TP.
[…]
The primary pain as Ensign mentioned is the power users. […]
Unfortunatly things got worse for everyone selling on the TP, not just power users.
Let me give an example: after a fractal run one usually ends up with quite a lot T5/6 mats and may be some profitable blue’s and green’s and major runes. So what I did til 09/09 (and looking at the recent feedback a lot of other players aswell) was:
- open inventory
- right click on an item I knew I can net some money with on the TP (e.g. 7 T5 blood) and select “Sell on TP”
- checking if estimated profit is to my liking
- clicking on “Sell instant”
- select next profitable item (I really liked the way your inventory was shown in the old TP)
- rinse and repeat until everything is sold
Let’s compare it to what it is like now:
- open inventory
- right click on an item I knew I can net some money with on the TP (e.g. 7 T5 blood) and select “Sell on TP”
So far- nothing changed. But now the fun begins:
- change from the buy panel to the sell panel by clicking on the small square next to the highest bidder
- drag the quantity bar to the far right to sell all 7 T5 blood, hoping the highest bidder is actually bidding for 7 or more units
- only seeing the actual price and what fees and taxes will be charged but not how much gold I will actually get, forcing me to do the maths manually
- click the sell button
- being forced to click the green “Succes!” Window
- sigh deeply
- select the next item (from the now terribad inventory display in the TP; using the “I am Evon Gnashblade” command does help, but it’s yet just the other extreme)
- rinse and repeat
So as far as I’m concerned (and I’m by no means a “power user” or “TP flipper”) the new way of selling is much less comfortable and takes longer than before.
Leader of “Servants of Balance” [SoB], a small guild endemic to the FSP.
[snip]
Interesting. That’s not happened to me then I don’t think, but I fight him in this area. I’d like it if you could record it again if you recall exactly how it happened and if you think it’d be repeatable.
[snip]
Ha, that’s almost exactly where we fought him, just a bit more to the ledge closer to his starting spot and with 2 or 3 elite gorillas which he revived during the “pulling process” and since then followed him. And we didn’t manage to keep him at the wall as well as you did in the video, he often ran to “the middle of the road” (in the direction of the opposing wall), but that shouldn’t have caused a reset at all since it was within the same radius from his starting spot .
Unfortunatly I can’t give a video (neither have the software nor do I have any clue of how to do that) and I don’t do Arah that often (may be a path once or twice a month, when some guild mates need help for their dungeon master).
Just remember this very situation so well due to the “WTF” factor and after all the good laugh we had.
But I will try to recall that very evening as precise as possible:
- I think the party consisted of a Guardian, a Mesmer, a Warrior, a Necromancer and a Ranger (may be it was an Engineer instead of the Nec, not 100% sure)
- we hack’n’slayed our way through p1, somewhen approached lupi, killed him
- moved on, came to the “Korga Area”, killed the gorillas and drakes on the way
- made a short stop before Korga, explaining the boss mechanics to our first timer and that we usually just run past that guy
- first timer suggested to give it a shot anyway since he was curious
- engaged Korga, tried fighting him in the corner, got overwhelmed by ressurected gorillas, wiped
- got ambitious, decided to give it one more try
- suggested to pull him a bit away from his starting spot to somewhere with less corpses
- pulled him to where you fought him, still he managed to rezz 2 or 3 gorillas that followed him and fought with him (and ofc got rezzed over and over again)
- when we had him down on 5-10% and already felt victorious, Korga suddenly turned around, proverbially showing us the finger and reseting
- told our first timer something like “now you know why we usually don’t fight that guy” (joke) and moved on to the spiders
Maybe the wipe on the first try has something to do with it, still I think there should be something done about it before Korga becomes a “have to be fought” boss

Same question came up in the german forums. Though there was a response from Ramon Domke (german community manager), it’s not really satisfying:

Not only that, even if you remember to guest, if you like to participate in a Guild Trek you’re left out in the cold neither seeing the targets nor being able to activate them after some1 told you where to go
I’m fairly certain this will be fixed with the guild changes.
To be honest the guesting thing SHOULD be changed, we just don’t have confirmation.

Possible suggestions
a) Perhaps make Korga required, but make it so that if an elite gorilla is killed the corpses do not respawn. Currently, they always will respawn in either the same location or anywhere randomly throughout the area.
[snip]Though I’m not against making Korga required to kill, I would insist on debugging him before doing so.
Usually we just run past that guy but lately we chose to give it a shot. Pulled him a short distance from where he initially stands (so we don’t have to deal with an army of elite gorillas all the time but only with a squad; I would estimate the ingame distance was about somewhat about 900 to 1200, depending on where that rampaging ape was moving during the fight. Still we were always in range of gorilla corpses, there was still an area of aprox. 2000 filled with corpses to both sides).
What happened? When he was down on ~5-10% health, he suddenly turned around, instantly becoming invulnearable, regenerating and moving back to his starting spot. Was our WTF moment for the evening. It can and will happen if you lure him out of his aggro range (if he rushes beyond it, it still counts and he’ll reset).
What I’m guessing happened is that you were fighting him fairly far out, and he charged at somebody who ended up being in an inconvenient direction and ran himself out of range. If not, then I’m not sure :P
I know about the issue when pulling him too far away, that’s why I tried to give estimated numbers of how far at max we pulled him. Considering the area with the gorilla corpses looks like _| bent 90° counter-clockwise we fought him on the long bar may be 15% away from the corner. Hope this is somewhat understandable. And his rushing was always in a “from wall to wall” fashion, never along the way, so the distance from his original spot didnt really change. So I don’t think we pulled him too far away.
May be it was just Korga’s way to say “omg, you brought a Nec and a Ranger with you, are you kittening kidding me?!” :P

Just asked the same in the Feature Pack Q/A topic:
Can someone give me some clarification about the global guild thing? In fact this is something I’ve been waiting for since they said they’re working on it earlier this year and what I’ve read pleases me a lot.
The only thing I’m not sure after reading the anouncment ist- will I now be able to participate in Guild Missions without having to Guest on the world where the missions were build (hope I won’t have to anymore) and will I now be able to actually see the objectives in the respective guild menu?
Curious about clarification

21-30 : 21 runs, 2 uninfused rings, 1 infused rings
31-40 : 74 runs, 21 u/ring, 8 i/ring, 3 ascended armor box, 2 ascended weapon box
41-50 : 58 runs, 12 u/ring, 4 i/ring, 1 ascended armor box, 1 ascended weapon box
Besides I totally agree that fractal skins should be obtainable for tokens (already sitting on almost 6k tokens… and I made a beta infused capacitator just 3 weeks ago :s ) and that dropped skins shouldn’t be able to be skins you already obtained, I really have to say- if I had your drop luck, I wouldn’t even complain about fotm rewards 7 asc. boxes is just wow… I got 3 (shoulders and gloves + cleric >_> weapon) on a similar amount of runs.
BTT: since you already covered up almost everything I could think about myself, I just want to throw in some thoughts on “pick the first fractal”. I’m a bit torn on this. On the one hand side, most groups tend to re-roll for swamp anyway, so being able to chose swamp right away would save some time. On the other hand side, you then could remove the aquatic ruins completely since it’s only possible on first position and prbly would never be picked.
So I suggest they should rather adjust the pools of available levels. Melt tier 1 and 2 levels together (but before doing so- put cliffside exclusively on tier 3. If something has to go down on tier 2 in return, I’d suggest the molten facility, aetherblade or thaumanova) so we only have two pools, with the first 2 fractals being chosen from pool 1 and the third from pool 2.
Ppl insisting on swamp first could still re-roll, ppl who don’t might still get it for 2nd fractal.

Laptop review: click me
The reviewed modell has a weaker CPU attached, if the one you’re going to buy really has a i7-4700MQ (4 cores, 8 threads), you should be fine since GW2 is very CPU heavy.
Can’t give you concrete numbers, but since the native resolution is just 1366×768 I’d estimate you’d be able to run smooth 30-60 fps (depending on where you are and what you are doing; big zerg fights excluded) on a mix of medium and high settings.

i hear you, and your the boss, so you can do what you want. But, i dont think its a good strategy to say nothing until you are ready to ship. Not only do you not get feedback early, but you have long periods of time where no one knows what the future holds.
If you can deliver constantly, it may work, but since you have long development cycles, it seems that this course will lead to people not really knowing what direction/what to expect at any given moment. Not only that, but you increase the chance that what you develop as a finished product is well intentioned but features a critical flaw. We have seen this happen with many of the releases, where something was almost great, but just off in some key way that could have been predicted early. If you make CDI type projects more focused on specific thing you actually are working on or trying to develop, it is possible to walk this line.
Pretty much this ^. Just want to add a point: this strategy would prbly work aswell, if players actually still had confident in what Arena.Net is doing.
But after launching GW2 while still being Beta (prbly forced by NCSoft but still…) with tons of bugs, not well thought features and issues with core-mechanics (just think about the condi-dmg issue. No, a handfull of tusks did NOT fix it), with the logic effect of struggling for almost 2 years (while the game keeps running, no easy task at all) to catch up until the game reached gold state (which in my opinion is just what we have by now- the basic game the way it should have been released, ready for progress).
Unfortunatly this 2 years were enough for most players to lose every little piece of trust they had in Arena.Net. So what’s the consequence? Whenever there’s an update and something turns out to be sub-par or not 100% well thought, people will claim “if you’d told us before what you’re going for, we surely would have identified the issues we now have to deal with”. And sadly, I feel there more often right than not.
Yes, there is a lot of negative replies in this forums. Yes, there is also quite a lot of rage leading to nowhere. But if you take a closer look, there are also some really intelligent suggestions and thoughts on this forums.
Picking some of these up with a “we love the idea, let’s discuss the details so we can start working on it” paired with regular updates about how well (or not) the programming is going would be something really appreciated I think.
Though you will never get fully rid of rage and hate, I’m sure most ppl here would have more understanding for a “Community idea -> Discussion -> trying to implement and give regular feedback on it -> turns out to be impossible to do due to [insert true issue here] -> thanks for trying to make the game better -> on to the next idea” cycle. And even better if things turn out to actually work.

Those unintended functionalities really are deserving of a nerf.
Fiery Rush is nothing sort of ridiculous when used in an exploitative way, and nerfing it will help bring the skill in line and weaken dungeon stack play a bit. It won’t do much to address stacking, but it is a step in the right direction.
Pretty much this ^.
Though I like doing dungeons and fractals, my guild and me usually play “the way it’s used to”, meaning almost no stacking, ppl that prefer to range do range etc.
So I never actually tried the FGS “trick” myself, just knew it from videos and forums.
Until yesterday when we tried out Ascalon p3 with only 3 players. Thinking about the burrow part my wife brought her ele… and what can I say? Out of curiosity I asked her to summon a FGS at Kholer when he was backed up against a pillar and tried the untargeted Fiery Rush & Whirl combo on him- taking almost 50% of his HP.
This is just so broken, the only shame is it didn’t get nerfed earlier.

My top 4 (besides many, many more i also liked):
Envoy Sword Farmed Z-Coins so hard until i got it.
Emerald Blade Most beautiful sword skin in GW1. Sadly never got it
Elite Kurzick Mesmer armor (female)
Elite Cultist Necro armor (male)
What i definetly don’t want to see: Obsidian Armor. They were all so ultra fugly imo, I always refused to get one :s

Plz no more legendary stuff unless obtaining sth. legendary needs the player to actually do something legendary (and nope, endless 1-1-1-move on-1-1-1-move on-…. farming ain’t legendary at all).
Being able to obtain the top-tier items of a game by simply buying them (e.g. with gold made by TP flipping) just feels so wrong

Main issues HotW explo has are probably:
- Troll on path 1 (apparently lots of players still seem to have problems beating him)
- Bossfights on path 2 and 3 are underwater which most ppl seem to dislike.
Just speaking for myself, I like a quick p1 visit but I really need to motivate myself doing p2 or p3 just because of the dull underwater bossfights (and I’m by no means a dedicated stacker/FGS player, underwater combat just feels so sluggish and most ppl seem to have problems not to lose orientation. Paired with the horrible camera in there it’s just not fun )

Well for dungeons and FoTM you need 5 players. So you need to find 1 more fwiend.
Besides that, the further you come the more challenging it will become, the start can be easy but later on it will be more challenging.
Not really, most if not all dungeons and even FotM can be done by 3-4 people (not sure though wether this is about 3 or 4 people either), it’s just a bit more challenging and a matter of practice.

I have 6k hours played also, hour does not mean anything.
Maybe you didn’t get a kick because you are rare to running with pugs.
And also, I emphasized for many times I didn’t have any problem running with all pugs group, but the group has more than one people from the same guild.ps. 2 hours maybe not a issue for you, but for me, it’s like the time I can spend on gw2 that day.
Huh? 2 hours/day, game released approx. two years ago… would be something around 1.400 hours played. So it doesn’t seem as if 2 hours is your usual amount of spent time in gw2… anyway, glad I found this topic and glad someone linked the Guild JP griefing thread.
omg, I am very sad for someone’s brain in this forum. If you eat only one apple per day nowadays for losing weight, dose that mean you always eat an apple after you born?
I’m also sad for you digging deeper in contradictions and still not being able to realize or at least acknowledge it. Though I won’t give in to your flame-bait, just a quick summary of your contradictions:
- Griefing a guild puzzle for no reason but trolling is ok, kicking you (may be for a solid reason, may be for no reason, who knows?) is bad. Contradiciton.
- Kicking you wastes 2 hours of your play time which is all you had that day. Either it’s just not your average daily playtime thus making it a nasty coincedence for you but still giving you the chance for a second try, or your lied about your overall playtime. Contradiction.
So have a good day Sir, I already made my conclusion out of this topic and performed what seems to me to be the appropriate ingame action.
Nash out.

[…] – my warrior struggles in fights, constantly looses lots of health, I have to dodge roll everything and run around in circles either waiting for passive healing or healing skill to get off cd vs my guardian who face-tanks everything with no trouble. Guardian only has issue’s vs groups really…
Hi Kamatsu,
welcome to GW2 and the world of Tyria! I guess you fell into a popular misconception many new players do. The part I quoted leads to the main issue here, I think. What you describe (highlited the important part) ist exactly what GW2 combat is about- dishing out as much damage as you can while avoiding incoming damage by moving, dodging and the usage of skills that provide blinds, blocks and knocks. Standing in one place and “tanking” mobs is (though sometimes possible) not the intention of this combat system.
Since your experience is -no offense!- very limited, keep in mind that low level open world play has nothing to do with level 80 endgame content such as dungeons or fractals. Though it’s possible to build ultra-devensive toons (check youtube, there are videos e.g. of “no dodge arah” partys) playing that way is the most boring thing in this game I can imagine. Not to mention everything takes much longer than neccesary.
Some tipps for getting more used to your warrior:
1. try to melee as much as possible
2. if you’re already comfortable with an encounter, melt those foes away using a Greatsword or an Axe in your mainhand, as those are a warriors strongest dps weapons.
3. Dodging is vital, thus you shouldnt waste your endurance when it’s not neccessery. Nothing more frustrating then getting stomped to the ground due to not being able to dodge, since you wasted your endurance on dodging low-damage attacks.
4. if you’re facing troubles try to figure out what exactly it is (somekind of special hard hitting attack? conditions? small but constant amounts of incoming dmg?) and think about how to counter it. For example: wielding a Mace in your main hand and a sword or a shield in your off-hand gives you access to quite a lot of blocks. An off-hand Mace gives you a powerfull knock-down. Play with weapon combinations to find out which one helps best against what foe. And when you start getting used to it- see #2
P.S.: I play both, a guard and warrior, and I have a blast with both of ’em

Have issues with that sigil aswell.
On my warrior I tried to create a WvW roaming build using Axe/Mace and Rifle on swap.
Axe/Mace using Sigil of Force and Sigil of Accuracy, Rifle using Sigil of Energy and Sigil of Intelligence. Idea was to cause some havoc with Axe/Mace and when the enemy backs of a bit (with less than 75% preferably) i switch to Rifle and try to hit with the Burst Skill “Kill shot”. Thing is- most of the time it does not crit. Also tried other rifle skills / rifle AA chain – crits are still totally random.
tl;dr: got sigil of intelligence on my swap weapon, but when i swap to that weapon in combat, i never get the guaranteed three crits.
Leader of “Servants of Balance” [SoB], a small guild endemic to the FSP.
Seems bugged to me. Tried the same with my Charrior and his Rifle (idea was to ensure a 100% crit Kill Shot in WvW). In fact crits are total random, no matter if I use Kill Shot immediatly or another weapon skill. Sad Charrior is sad now

You might want to combine that with a key run. Create a human for that, choose “raised by common people”, do the personal story until the part until you get the key (takes roughly about 30-40 minutes) and then go exploring the cities. By doing so, you have the advantages of your first utility slot and (depending on your class) can slot somekind of speedbuff.

K… i now have done fractals 276 times!!!.. and never NEVER EVER get any weapon skin.. NEVER, not even once!!…..
What is WRONG with that kitten dungeon!!
276 times… how cute. My first FotM weapon drop was Trident and by then, I already had the 500 fractals achievement. Got my second weapon (Axe) just 2 days ago, though I don’t count the number of fractals, I guess I’m around 800ish by now.
A token system would have improved the fractal reward experience immensely. I’m not saying make them easy to get.
250 Pristine Fractal Relics per weapon might be hard and take a long time to get but at least it’s something you can work on instead of rolling the dice forever.
Great suggestion, 100% support this! I mean, if you run fractals a lot, you’ll get barraged with them relics, yet you’ll get so many rings aswell, there’s simply no need to spend them on rings.
I’ve seen person getting both Precursor and Ascended Armor drop in a single fractal run.
Welcome to my world :/

In fact, after the anouncment of the free trait reset, I somehow expected them to think this far on their own… but since apparently they did not… I totally support this.
